Centralized Admissions doesn't know what they're d...

Centralized Admissions doesn't know what they're doing. So either the State needs to get rid of them or actually train the people to recognize a bogus referral. Don't just accept every referral that falls from the sky. I thought the purpose of Centralized Admissions was to triage the appropriate level of care not just admit everyone to the State Hospital. Just saying. I don't know. I thought that's why it was created so everything was streamlined. But it obviously didn't turn out the way consumers had hoped. And no one gets rejected and it's all hoax. So many more people to then find placement for and discharge. Puts a strain on the Census Reduction efforts and just doesn't help consumers in the Wellness and Recovery way that the State proclaims to use. It's not about Illness Management and Recovery, it's about what's easier for the State, what available, what's easiest to fund, etc! Is this a means of helping people. Or is it a means of just waiting until thing become "crises" rather than dealing with stuff early on through support services. Why is it that all community services require "serious and persistent mental illness"? This means that people have to fail in order to succeed. Also, usually most people can only access Group Homes and Supportive Housing, and Supervised Apartments, if they're coming out of the State Hospital. So this just sets the stage for referrals "just for placement". They need to allow people to access residential services before they need that type of care. It would actually a boatload of $$$. So it just doesn't add up, when the State says, were limiting services to those who are coming out of the State Hospital, when we could totally avoid that issue of people getting to such a crisis or series of crises in the first place. So just some food for thought.

Ok

Mon.08.29.2016. Good Day to you. My response to your "little doggy" comment is as follows: The Department of Social Services has always been needed in the past and is still greatly needed today. The need for Social Workers to take medical status into consideration is obvious. If a person is ill, certainly the level of caretaking is affected. A child's welfare should be the greatest concern for Social Workers and medical status and condition of the parents or guardians are extremely important and should never be overlooked or assumed unimportant. We hope the goals will remain to provide assistance in getting the child or children and parents on the road to good health. Thank you. d b j
