Great library. Huge collection and lots of space to read and study. If you are visiting, check The Dome, enjoy the museum about the World of the Book and don't miss the small art gallery. Remember to be quiet (it's a library after all) and take a pic from level 6 of the Dome.

Awesome architectural masterpiece with many different reading rooms, any book magazine or newspaper you might want and internet access and free wifi. Clean toilets. Accessible. Many different displays to explore around the dome for Victoria's history. A must visit for Melbourne. #letsguide

The house of knowledge located within the heart of the city. It is a huge library with almost 2 million books and free wifi. They also exhibit the various arts. There are many reading rooms and it has a chess room with variety of materials about chess.
The grass lawn in front of the library is a popular spot for every one. The statues installed in the lawn are beautiful.

I am a volunteer at the State Library of Victoria so I've explored this place quite a lot. It's not a typical library because apart from reading rooms, it also has galleries, exhibitions and a good view of the dome. It's quite a friendly and inclusive place where everyone can visit without the need of tickets or membership cards. For Aussies, this place has a great collection regarding the history and culture as well as family histories in Victoria. Aussie visitors can find exhibits about Ned Kelly here. For visitors from other cultural backgrounds, the Cowen Gallery is particularly worth browsing, where you can see paintings depicting the old and modern Melbourne. Welcome any inquiries about visiting the library here.

If you have a chance, I would love to go back and read a book too ... I have a place to play chess, but you can sit back and read a book or play chess, or you can enjoy the pictures in the library (but not a lot of good works ...) or just be happy in that space Such a place. Bookworms are a must

The one and only. Forget about how many books or what other fancy modwen facilities they have; just come in here for a old world visual experience in the hexagonal reading room. A gem that most tourist would miss but only a local would know. There you have it I've let the cat out of the bag.

Very characteristic buildings, there are large chessboards outside, in addition to many students in the interior to read the book, there are also exhibitions to see on the upstairs, you can browse and take a photo.

I did not expect much, but like the museum, it introduces the building history and the local history.
The inside of the library was beautiful. I recommend you visit once.

It Its one one of the best, big, beautiful and have lost word for it. It has like a billion books and so much of history to say. If you like books and free wifi its your heaven. Only problem is parking which I understand as its in the middle of a busy city. it even has old paintings and computers if you don't have one.

What a beautiful place to spend some time. Very restful especially when sitting at the very bottom looking up and around. Well worth a stop to just marvel at the architecture and surroundings.

There's a certain 'Cambridge' like Vibe in here. It's special in the venue, service and the array of books. For me, today was just a space for me to bury myself in rhe books before I catch my flight back to Sydney. Thank you for having me

Denied entry due to having a small case on wheels. Was told it was too big to go in, others had backpacks the same size or bigger. Security guard named Saurav has no idea how to do his job apparently.
