If you love chess go to the dome. Awesome chess community of all levels. Very casual and relaxed. I love Melbourne because of this.
Great place for book worms, quiet, beautiful landscape and its free!
The State Library is a must visit for every Victorian. Make sure to check out the artwork while you're there!
A very beautiful building. One of the most beautiful bookstores I have ever visited.
Awesome place to do assignments and chatting with friends in spacious rooms with british architecture and too with free wifi, adding to that, lot of Charging points. Perfect for those who always work on laptops.
Worth a visit. There are even exhibits in the library which are free
1st time ive been there in 40yrs took my 7yr daughter an 6yr son all 3 of us were amazed big
Good spot to feel Australian history. It's worth a visit.
Forget about reading! Ponder the beauty of Australia's grandest reading room. A must visit for travellers.
Firstly, it s a beautiful library. Secondly, it maintains a good library decorum for everyone who s looking for a quiet spot to study or work despite the crowd coming in just to appreciate its beauty.
Great library. Huge collection and lots of space to read and study. If you are visiting, check The Dome, enjoy the museum about the World of the Book and don't miss the small art gallery. Remember to be quiet (it's a library after all) and take a pic from level 6 of the Dome.
Beautiful and grace place. Felt well and asleep because of the silent atmosphere.
Nice library....popular tourist place but also good for locals to do some readings
Awesome architectural masterpiece with many different reading rooms, any book magazine or newspaper you might want and internet access and free wifi. Clean toilets. Accessible. Many different displays to explore around the dome for Victoria's history. A must visit for Melbourne. #letsguide
Great place to study and read a book.
Big library with so many books.
With so many seats and free wifi
It is a library, library, study room and museum in the same very large place
Very nice place. I really feel calm when I visit this place. Highly recommended to book lovers.
A Very large interior with great collection of books
This is a fantastic library with brilliant reading rooms and magnificent collections.
Great place for studying, great facilities, nice building architecture
I felt like to be in the Middle Ages and here did make me calm down
Very well organised with lots of information on the book show.
The house of knowledge located within the heart of the city. It is a huge library with almost 2 million books and free wifi. They also exhibit the various arts. There are many reading rooms and it has a chess room with variety of materials about chess.
The grass lawn in front of the library is a popular spot for every one. The statues installed in the lawn are beautiful.
Great views inside. Didn t have time to see the stacks though but the museum collection is interesting.
Diverse and huge. So many notions of books and people watching the day just flashes by.
I am a volunteer at the State Library of Victoria so I've explored this place quite a lot. It's not a typical library because apart from reading rooms, it also has galleries, exhibitions and a good view of the dome. It's quite a friendly and inclusive place where everyone can visit without the need of tickets or membership cards. For Aussies, this place has a great collection regarding the history and culture as well as family histories in Victoria. Aussie visitors can find exhibits about Ned Kelly here. For visitors from other cultural backgrounds, the Cowen Gallery is particularly worth browsing, where you can see paintings depicting the old and modern Melbourne. Welcome any inquiries about visiting the library here.
The best library in Victoria.
Free Wi-Fi and many power point for recharge your devices.
The architecture of the State Library is awesome.
Sometimes I come here to enjoy the books, I feel very interesting
A beautiful historic building that is great for a visit and a great place to study.
Gray often has a special library, especially the study room, from the top down, there are feels, but the photo was shot by me.
This is an amaing place! I'm fascinated. One of the most beautiful locations in Melbourne. I'm sorry I had so little time to stay here.
The dome is magical.
Good refuge from the heat.
Refill water bottle.
Fast free internet through wifi.
If you have a chance, I would love to go back and read a book too ... I have a place to play chess, but you can sit back and read a book or play chess, or you can enjoy the pictures in the library (but not a lot of good works ...) or just be happy in that space Such a place. Bookworms are a must
A must-see in Melbourne city! You get to read to your hearts content and there are exhibitions for you to visit! Great place with great atmosphere!
Got what I was looking for: herald sun digital copy from November 25th 2017
The one and only. Forget about how many books or what other fancy modwen facilities they have; just come in here for a old world visual experience in the hexagonal reading room. A gem that most tourist would miss but only a local would know. There you have it I've let the cat out of the bag.
Grandiose and beautiful. Make sure to come before 5pm to get the iconic photos in the dome room.
This library is a great place to study, it's quiet and beautiful!
Free wifi. Free computer use. Beautiful study area. No need to book study space, although Saturday's are usually busy.
Beautiful building (inside and outside) definitely worth to check it out.
Staffs are very nice. They really enjoy to give you an information. I prefer the top lv. to lower of this hall.
Great place to relax in the quiet reading room. Lots of light, lots of students, so get in early if you are wanting to study all day.
We are so lucky to have such an amazing, free public resource such as this Melbourne. well worth a visit.
Such an awesome place. Huge collection of everything. Awesome architecture inside and out.
Incredible place. Very nice and neat.
A few exhibitions on display.
Very characteristic buildings, there are large chessboards outside, in addition to many students in the interior to read the book, there are also exhibitions to see on the upstairs, you can browse and take a photo.
Must Visit Place in Melbourne City. This place is filled with so much information.
This is a beautiful building, and exactly what you would picture when thinking of a State Library. Large reading room for study or quiet board games too
Staffs are very friendly, his teach me how use the computer .I really happy study at here.!!!
Friendly staffs and nice building. Worth visiting here.
Designed with a new concept
It was a library.
Located in the city center
It is recommended to stop by.
The geometry of the table in the library is really beautiful.
Enjoy the beauty of the library and don't forget to stay quiet
Victoria State Library
I did not expect much, but like the museum, it introduces the building history and the local history.
The inside of the library was beautiful. I recommend you visit once.
It Its one one of the best, big, beautiful and have lost word for it. It has like a billion books and so much of history to say. If you like books and free wifi its your heaven. Only problem is parking which I understand as its in the middle of a busy city. it even has old paintings and computers if you don't have one.
What a beautiful place to spend some time. Very restful especially when sitting at the very bottom looking up and around. Well worth a stop to just marvel at the architecture and surroundings.
There's a certain 'Cambridge' like Vibe in here. It's special in the venue, service and the array of books. For me, today was just a space for me to bury myself in rhe books before I catch my flight back to Sydney. Thank you for having me
The architecture from the exterior is truly stunning, but once you enter you will realise it is really something you d never be able to find anywhere else
The building itself maintains the beauty of the library.
Finally visited the State Library of Victoria last week. It was soooooo IMPRESSIVE! The building itself is stunning. I will be back again soon.
Very nice library, its a very good spot to play some chess if you are bored or if there is a rainy day
Denied entry due to having a small case on wheels. Was told it was too big to go in, others had backpacks the same size or bigger. Security guard named Saurav has no idea how to do his job apparently.
People are respectful of the rules here. Great place to study.
Fabulous building. Beware though, the only way down is via the lift which gets very busy. I don't know what will happen if, God forbid, there is a fire!!!!
It's the best public library I've been in. He has access to a thousand books. The structure is perfectly preserved. It has good hours of attention to the public. The bathrooms and facilities are impeccable. The staff is friendly. In addition, the edict is well located and can be accessed in almost any area. You can go by public transport. Have a daily tour
Great facilities, no problems with the internet and friendly staff
