The infrastructure is amazing and very impressive. The staff are very friendly and helpful as well. The only negative feedback/suggestion I would give is to improve the speed of the computers. It's very slow.

Great Resource .lots of nooks to study and use the supplied computers or bring your own laptop. Multiple levels so you may have to look for a quiet place. Can be busy on one level bit then quieter on another.

I came here in the peak of QLD summer to escape the non-air conditioned house I was living in. Free WiFi, a few Cafe's and aircon are the selling points here.

( " The Library Cafe " has easily the worst Iced Latte i've ever had )

The first level typically has a few people sleeping on couches, and a few more charging their devices via the wall outlets. Other than that, most people are here to study or use the WiFi quietly. Sometimes you'll find someone brings in kids and the kids have a bit of a dummy spit, but that's most places you go anyway!

Within 5 minutes of walking through the door I was signed up, carded up and able to access everything I wanted
Friendly staff that are helpful and the FREE wifi is fast enough
Plenty of awesome places to get your study on. FREE TO JOIN
They however do not have the following book: catch 22 by Joseph Heller which should be a crime not to have this exceptional piece of literature.

HOME a suburban obsession: what a fascinating collection of photos and other domestic vernacular artefacts from the suburbs of SE qld. Based on the hundreds of thousands photos of commercial photography by Frank & Eunice Corley, who conducted business in their pink Cadillac.

Yesterday we were looking for central place to record some of our voice-over work for a client. We all met at the SLQ and found the perfect spot on Level 4 in the John Oxley Library. The SLQ is perfect for meeting rooms - access to the internet, clean, and quiet. If you're a small business on a budget, you should check out their resources.

The State Library of Queensland offers a fabulous range of programs and activities for people of all ages and backgrounds and is an incredible resource for the people of Queensland. During holidays, the library offers numerous activities for children and is a great place to stay cool. Located in the cultural precinct of South Brisbane, its an easy stroll from the CBD and is well serviced by public transport.

My father and I did a workshop on using resources to search about our family history. It was excellent. The facilitators were very knowledgeable and approachable. I learnt so much and it really made me motivated to get started. I recommend attending events at SLQ. SLQ is centrally located so it's easy just to catch a bus or train. The SLQ staff are excellent. Also, I love the fact that if you are SLQ member you can get out books and resources too.

Unless you are coming here for a specific reason, i.e. work and need to use for some specialised reference books, this place is a complete let down except for the clean bathrooms. If you are a visitor or tourist thinking this place may have something to offer, we were very disappointed. This place has lots of wasted open spaces that is completely underutilised. As a Qld tax payer, it is a waste of prime real estate. They could use this area so much better for State Library purposes. Very underwhelming, a real let down.

A really useful facility. They have really interesting public figures giving talks - or screening talks from other locations. The electronics just work! Thank you to those working quietly behind the scenes.

One of the best!

One of the best!
Been here and this is by far one of the very best facilities that BCC have constructed. The three floors are spacious and well laid out. There are sufficient tables and sitting areas for all types of users. The natural light provides amazing ambiance and a cosy place out of the elements outside.
I love going here and they even put on tea and coffee late in the evenings on a Friday night.
Awesome!!!

One of the best Library in Queensland! State Library, apart from the size and quality of books available, is one of the best examples of modern architecture.

The Building was inaugurated on 25 Nov 2006 and was designed by Brisbane-based architecture firms Donovan Hill and Peddle Thorp. It has won awards for its quality architecture and interior design as well. A must-visit place in Brisbane.

In the quiet area on level 4 there were people sitting together and repeatedly whispering to each other. They could be heard from the other end of the room. This sort of thing is incredibly annoying and distracting when you are trying to study quietly. It appears to be impossible to find a quiet area that is actually quiet.

Great place to go and study or do some work. Selection of interesting spaces to work in with great views over the river or quiet corners. The only problem is everyone else s seems to know this already as well! Would recommend getting there early to avoid the crowds and get your spot!

I love this library. I love the views of the river, the free wifi and easy access to resources. I can work from home given the great online access, but the silence of the upper levels promotes concentration. Want a break? There is GOMA, the Art Gallery and great coffee at your fingertips.

WOW! What a service! I've recently moved back to Qld from Sydney and I was gobsmacked at how much incredible service you get from the State Library for free where you otherwise pay in excess of $100 in Sydney for the same capabilities. It makes me so proud to be a Queenslander haha! In all seriousness though I am very grateful for these services as they will help my business in more ways than one & as a freelancer they will also provide an awesome space to work in multiple quiet areas where you can easily scoot out for a lovely feed at a nearby cafe downstairs or at GOMA.

Excellent and comfortable place to study. While at times the library can become a social space for people , making it really loud - it also has some hours where it is nice and quiet. WiFi is fast and devices connect to it quickly.

The beauty of State of Library of Queensland is that some of the newspaper and magazines that you could not find, it will be available to download via Press reader. The downside is that, you only can download all the e-magazines from State of Library wifi.

We enjoyed the 'Palm Island' & 'Islands' exhibitions on at the library. It was our 1st time there. Two very eye opening & interesting exhibitions held in 2 different parts of the library.
The library is spread out over multiple levels which makes it feel a bit absent of that nice library feel but i'm sure there is lots of good stuff to explore there.
I wasn't a fan of the ground level where the Palm Island exhibit was though, as the adjacent internet/computer zone was a big dull, aggy and chock full of lonesome men.

I love this place for all their facilities, books, activities and the people who work there are so nice. In particular, I have two kids who love to come to the Corner which is fantastic. You can just come and borrow some books or a computer. You can also just chill seating on the couch, read your favourite book or even just take a nap.

There is also live music for kids on Saturdays and the staff changes the theme of the play area maybe every month in the Corner.

It also has great views to the river and city center. It is perfect to come and study by yourself or with friends and work on projects.

The place is barely open, I assume it's only pretending to be open as an excuse to pay the staff. This used to be a great place to visit, currently it's nothing, hopefully one day it will recover but who knows?

I just wanted to sit down and do some work quietly in the library. Simple. There was a huge line to get in, then I had to make a pre-booking to use the library, wanted me to register all my details. What a joke! Using a public library should not require so much effort. Easier to sit down on the grass outside.

This place is my home away from home. I love to study at the Jacaranda Lounge and listen to the piano players on Friday afternoons. Incredible range of books, activities and historical collections not to mention the incredible view of the Brisbane River and CBD. Whenever I have a question, a friendly staff member is always there to help me. I feel privileged to have access to these world-class facilities.
