This was my first experience here celebrating the birthday of a friend. In general my overall experience was subpar at best, the novelty of eating in a floating restaurant was overshadowed by the lackluster service. That being said, in the spirit of the restaurant I opted for grilled fish, it was a little overseasoned but was a good portion size for the price and the tartar sauce that came with it was very good. In general I would say that the food salvaged the overall experience but ultimately if you were in the mood for a very specific type of meal or wanted to experience the novelty of the restaurant that would be the only justification; since there are, in my opinion, better options for most of the menu items at other restaurants nearby.

Was told the wait would be 45 minutes for 8 of us on a Saturday afternoon.

River Bottom Grille is a great place to go when you have a little extra money in your pocket and want a higher end experience in the Shoals without regretting it the next day. Its location is simply unbeatable; the river generates the atmosphere at Stanfield's. When seated outdoors, you'll always find yourself comfortable, even as a gentle thunderstorm rolls through Florence. That's because Stanfield's outdoor seating is found on a covered balcony on the second floor (!) of the restaurant. The atmosphere at RBG is simply unbeatable.

As for the food, there is room for improvement. I ordered "fish and chips" and expected the traditional, British recipe. Unfortunately, I found the cornmeal-coated fish, typical of Southern restaurants, and it was unexceptional. The French fries were nothing notable.

For me, the biggest draw to RBG was the shucked oysters. I was disappointed to find that they charged nearly ten dollars for only six petite oysters! Nevertheless, they were delicious. Another appetizer, the crab dip, was probably the best item on the menu.

RBG offers a unique drink menu, including the Bushwhacker, an alcoholic milkshake of sorts. Another signature drink of theirs, the Juice Joint, will not disappoint lovers of fruity beverages.

Overall, River Bottom Grille was a great experience, but it was not an exceptional restaurant. I would definitely go back for drinks and appetizers, though.

Waitress would not seat us for our Gran's 90th Birthday (party of 18) and the place was not even 25 percent occupied. So we left and called another restaurant. We went to City Hardware not far away and they were more than glad to seat us and treated us with such great care for this special occasion. We will never be back to this (place).

I love going here when the weather is nice and sitting on the deck outside. For an appetizer I love the crab dip with chips. I usually get the Philly cheesesteak or ribeye for my meal. However everything I've ever gotten has been well prepared and delicious. Friendly service and good atmosphere make this a HomeTown favorite.

This place is absolutely amazing, if you want dinner with a view of the beautiful Tennessee river. The food is just as good as the view. They also have a great drink selection. This is one spot I would recommend to any out of towner.

This is where my daughter wanted to eat for graduation. Since we had a large party of 17 I called a few days before. They said they don t take reservations but would put my name and number in my party on the calendar so they would be ready. Upon leaving the ceremony I called again to remind them that we were coming. They said yes, we have your table ready. Upon arrival 5 to 7 min later they had given our table to a group of 25 )of which only 2 people were present). I was trying make things easier for my 80 year old parents, one of whom is in a wheelchair. They did not care about us one bit! They just kept repeating we don t take reservations and they walked in before you did. They could not accommodate us so we left. Terrible terrible customer service!
