April did a fantastic job facilitating our tasting session. She was engaging as well as very informative about the vineyard and its wines. The ice wines are wonderful....and, very affordable. We enjoyed the newly remodeled tasting room!

Only positive things to say about our experience. Went on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, but not too crowded even on a busy weekend. Tasted a lot of great wines (generous pours!) and enjoyed the amazing view. Couldn t ask for more!

We loved our visit to Standing Stone, we came in around 5 and ask if we're still on time to do a tasting and Kyle our tasting guide was happy to receive us and share with us soil and region facts while tasting most of the wines, he was so nice and knowledgeable. Wines were excellent. Hope we can come back. Thanks!!!

This was a last minute decision and it's the best one we made all weekend. When we walked up, people were walking out with bottles in each hand, under the arms, by the boxes.....good sign. The wine is some of the best we have had in the area, but the servers and greeters were so friendly, some of the friendliest we have ever had across the states of wine tasting!

I was really excited to visit this winery especially because we love Hermann so much. My experience from the moment we walked in screamed pretentious. We were about 10 minutes late to our reservation because of rain and we greeted with, you know that 12 o clock reservation, well they are here now. I asked to use the bathroom and I was told I had to wait until some guy was done paying for his wine to go ahead of me and then I could go. Their wine is not as good as Hermann or a lot of other places on Seneca Lake. The pretentiousness needs to go.

A rather cantankerous gentleman served us wine, insisting that our tastes were not correct. He mansplained and condescended to us. Being rather disagreeable, the wine took on a sour taste. I had intended to buy a bottle but changed my mind. Lovely setting and could be a warm place, but I'll never go again.

Wonderful experience even with the current Covid restrictions. The ladies were very knowledgeable, attentive and the view is absolutely gorgeous. Wines were delicious, we happily took a whole case home. Highly recommend!

Terrible customer service. Right from the start was advised that we couldn't get in because there all tables were reserved for a party of six. There we three table open. After some discussion was advised there were two tables open and was offered one. Second was advised that there was one bathroom available for which there was a line. One bathroom for ladies and men. Heard the manager reprimanding the young lady for allowing people in although there were many open tables. Lastly we were out in the open in an open field 30 feet away and the manager came heatedly up to advise that he could smell us smoking from up at the building which was 100 feet away from the table. The manager running this establishment was petty.

I tasted their three red wines, and their ice style wines produced by freezing the grapes and pressing them later in the year. Dani had a mix of dry whites and reds.
The ice style wines are excellent, and as good as any real ice wines. Their Chardonnay Ice is perhaps the first bottle of Chardonnay I have purchased after a tasting! Dani bought a bottle of Gewurztraminer which was also excellent. The reds were good, but not as full body as we normally enjoy.

Absolutely spectacular! This was our favorite winery in the entire region. If you like bold reds (non sweet) - this is it. The only one in the area we could find! We accidentally stumbled upon this gem.. the cheese plate was amazing! But the staff - was the best! Thera couldn't have been more knowledgeable, engaging, and kind. It is the only winery to which we will return on our next visit. They have been remodeled. The views are unparalleled and the ambiance so inviting. Thank you for such a wonderful visit!

Great variety of wines and little snacks, really enjoyed the Saperavi and Chardonnay (which I typically don t like) Also great views of the lake from a comfortable outside table.
Fantastic service from one of the owners Maressa!

I wasn t expecting much walking into this winery because it seemed very simple compared to others. It was mainly just one large room with 6 tables. I was pleasantly surprised when we were brought to our own personal table and had our own employee , Sandra, giving us a lot of information, regarding the history of the area, the wines and her experiences. She was an older lady, but was so energetic & fun to speak with! She was very funny and I would go again because I know she would make it a great experience! I loved all the wines and she gave us a few extra samples. And bread! Love the bread. After the tasting, they have corks at the check out, so you can take on as a souvenir! They also have a Koi fish pond in the back and let us feed them. The whole experience was wonderful.

We went there on our anniversary and the place was great. Even though we didn t have a reservation the staff was extremely accommodating. Gave us a champagne toast, let us bring snacks in, delicious red wine, great view. I can keep going on. Would definitely go back. Standing Stone made our special day more special. Thank you. We will certainly go back.

This winery maximizes on growing the perfect grapes for New York s climate. The owners recently retired but my other favorite winery Hermann Wiemer is now in charge. I am excited to see what happens with a winery on each coast of Seneca. The woman who gave our tasting was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She was even able to track down two bottles that I had purchased at a vertical flight party two years ago! I hope that after their adjustment they start these parties back up!

We have been long time fans, and I see only great things to come from this well established FLX vineyard! Under the care of the HJW team's stewardship I am super excited to see what new and beautiful expressions of our local terrroir will appear on their tasting list. Saperavi, hear of it? Yes? No? Go here now either way. Also taking excellent precautions with our current situation, very safe, still exceptional quality, still very special!!

Highly recommend. Excellent wines! Fabulous service. Okay it 2020 and I'm sure people want to know how things are now... They are being very safety conscious. Even sanitize the facilities between patrons. The patio is very comfortable with a great view!

Amazing wine and grounds. The dry Riesling and Riesling are very fragrant and light with a little bit of bubbles. We also tried some rare red Sapuravi, it was quite strong but very rich and flavorful. Chardonnay was a bit to light for me.

The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The place is very clean and simple. The views are amazing!

The place is a bit hidden and doesn t have a curb appeal from the road but when you walk to the back, the views are breathtaking.

It s a very high quality wine, I walked away with a full box of wine, mostly whites.

Standing Stone Vineyards is located on the east shore of Seneca in a very nice location. For the nice land, good sun exposure, and good quality of their neighbors' wines, they managed to butcher many of the region's mainstay varieties. Their strongest showings were their dry Vidal and Vidal ice wines. The tasting experience and offerings were clearly geared towards the less serious crowd. Nothing is wrong with that per se, but it would have been helpful to know ahead of time... The blue-haired (as in colored, not old) tasting attendant was painfully ignorant of the wines, generally loud, and insistent that the Standing Stone wine club was the best thing since sliced bread. We will not be returning.

I very much enjoyed the wines and the picturesque view of Seneca Lake! The seating area is not very large, though, so avoid popular times. Great mix of sweet, semi-sweet, dry, red, and white wines. Definitely recommended!

While the wines at this winery were decent, the customer service was highly offensive. My husband and I stopped for a tasting with our 3 month old daughter. Upon arrival, the staff member grabbed my daughters headband and pulled it off, questioning why we would put that on her. She then proceeded to ask me if I am breast feeding my daughter and when I replied no, she scoffed and roll her eyes. I have never felt so offended, especially when giving my business to an establishment. I am still in shock at the way we were treated and will absolutely not be returning.

We had a wonderful experience at this tasting room. You are greeted at the door and have a personal testing experience at your own table. Our server was very knowledgeable and personable. We also enjoyed several of the wines.

Service was good. According to the staff, this winery is owned by Hermann J Wiemer Vineyards. Most of the wines are typical FLX region...decent whites, reds not so great except for the Saperavi which I enjoyed. .

Standing Stone is not quite on the same high plate...

Standing Stone is not quite on the same high plateau as Kemmeter, Boundary Breaks, and HJW (the latter of which now owns SS), but it is close. They are definitely one of the top wineries in the Finger Lakes. I had an enjoyable tasting there with a friendly and intelligent pour-master, who let me try a good number of their offerings. All were good to excellent, especially the Rieslings. Their reds are remarkably promising, probably needing a bit more age but encouraging nonetheless. I wish I had gotten to taste some of their ice wines, which impressed me when I first visited in 2012, but no matter. This was quite a pleasant experience and everything I witnessed suggests that they will continue to provide quality wines, especially under the aegis of HJW. Well worth a visit.
