Lollypop Farm is wonderful!!! As a new dog owner I was very nervous about my dog's procedure. The staff made me feel comfortable and explained everything in detail. I lost my dogs leash and I didn't have a crate, and they provided one for me to take my dog home in. They also encouraged me to call if I had any questions. The best part was today, 5 days after her procedure, I received a call from a Lollypop staff member to check on how my dog was feeling!!! Excellent organization, so caring and warm!!! Thank you so much!!

It's a beautiful facility, we have adopted several cats and dogs over the years from them. It can be a bit hard to get a hold of staff, especially on the phone. The trainers seem very good, both there and one, Rebecca, came for a home visit and was quite helpful and informative.
It's a shelter, so the information they have on animals is often very limited, and you are taking a step into the unknown in some ways. Rescues where the animal has been fostered for a while often know much more about the animals behavior and disposition. But the animals we have gotten from Lollypop had been well cared for, and all have turned out to be wonderful animal friends!
I really enjoyed my visit to Lollypop Farms. The animals appeared to be well taken care of, and the workers look out for their health (you can't just pet most of the animals, a way to prevent the spread of any illness). I personally found this to be a bummer as I love petting animals, but I understood why. You can pet the goats though, which is a great experience for all ages. The goats themselves are quite friendly, and love to be pet! Walking around the outdoor trail and seeing the larger animals (horses, pigs, ducks, large birds, etc.) was very nice
What people did not realize is that Lollypop farm is trying to safe life. They want to save as many animal as they could. But on the other hand, they have responsibility to minimize potential risks to human society and reduce burden for animals. Most of the animal who has been putting down are animals with incurable diseases such as chronic sickness or cancers. They are put down to minimize the burden. Some of others have aggressive behavior due to the stress or bad experiences, those animals need to be put down since they will be a potential risk to your kids, family members or you neighbors. When you people spend so much time on complaining what Lollypop has done wrong, what have you guys done? I am sure that complaining behind your laptop will save more life than what Lollypop does.
It's alright but the animals there are there cause they were abused mostly. Also they won't adopt out to families with young kids and or require hoops to jump through to adopt.
Being seniors ourselves, we adopted two older cats 9 years ago... they were great.. the experience, the staff, the facility. HOWEVER, I called end of life services early yesterday and left a detailed message explaining need to euthanize one of our girls as she was in a lot of pain due to a mass previously dx'd as cancer.
Called 5x got answering machine every time. Still no call today. Not that responsive for a " compassionate" organization. Ended up spending money we didn't have and called the vet. They got her right in this morning. I am heartbroken but she is in a better place ...
. I can understand that people are upset with Lollypop for putting animals to sleep. BUT, who is going to pay for all the animals, their upkeep, their health, their housing? Are you ? Where are the no kill shelters? Do they have any room? Who funds them? Did you know the pets in no kill shelters live their lives in cages? Where is free roaming now? If Lollypop does not screen people thoroughly, the home the pet ends up in can be worse than being put to sleep. Lollypop clearly states to use Lollypop as a last resort. The fault lies in the people who are not dedicated to keeping their pets AND taking care of them. We have 8 rescue cats inside and maybe 5-8 outside (who are not fed or cared for, that neighbors own) We are taking care of with food and shelter, but no shots, no love, fighting, predators, parasites, and the like. People need to step up and take care of their pets, educate yourselves, your children and grandchildren, and keep your commitments. The issue is with the owners. It's too bad that people can't be on the receiving end of this epidemic, instead of animals.
Always willing too help, I have adopted and love my pet, also called on them for a stray on my property and they were so helpful, thank you, please donate when you can, I enjoy visiting the farm.
Me and my boyfriend adopted our new fur baby, Sikora, black baby girl! We love her to pieces She is doing great, finally playing with toys, she apparently loves feathers Eating very good! Thank you lollypop for our baby girl!
One of the cleanest and most well ran shelters in Upstate NY. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly!! Animals are well taken care of!! I was a volunteer for two years while I was on school and would consistently come visit with my Cousin and nieces when they were little.
I know Lollypop does a lot for animals and the community. But we had a poor experience adopting our kitty and it left us disappointed and frustrated. Last week we brought home Hazel. The employee explained to my wife that the cat had an allergy/skin condition and was on a special diet. Our daughter's heart was set on her, and it didn't sound like an issue. The employee specifically said her food could be bought at PetSaver and that she was NOT allowed dry food. Okay, great so far. We were given a couple cans of her food and when my wife got home, she noticed it said it was a Veterinary Exclusive and a prescription food. When I went to PetSaver over the weekend, they of course did NOT carry it, like we feared. Our vet appointment wasn't until Monday, so we weren't sure what to feed her. I called Lollypop and while they were nice enough to give us a couple more cans to get us through, I had to drive an hour to pick it up and was almost late to my nephew's graduation party. The first lady I tried to talk to at the counter was reading a book and refused to look up. After a minute, I went around the side and talked to another woman, who had the bag of food. She quickly pointed out that we signed a medical release form, which had no bearing on our issue. She then admitted the employee did remember telling us we could buy the food at the store, but was wrong. Finally, she said there was also a bag of dry food for us. I explained we were told the cat wasn't allowed dry food, and she just stared at me and reiterated what was in the bag. Come to find out after the vet visit, the dry food was the same as the wet food, and after a call back to Lollypop...she WAS eating dry food while there. Not only that, we were given the wrong information about how much food to feed her so she was practically starving the first couple days. The vet has since fixed her diet and she has been a happy, well fed kitty. Again, I know Lollypop does so much good and one bad experience isn't the norm. But it was OUR bad experience. The next time we're ready for another furry friend, we will search elsewhere. The lack of attention to detail wasn't just an inconvenience to us, it was potentially harmful to our new friend.
I grew up in this area and enjoyed multiple trips going to lollypop farms. Now when i return to visit family i try to bring my daughter to enjoy it. She loves animals as i do and wants to be a vet when she grows up. Glad to see its still strong and growing.
I adopted Ali Saturday the 15th august. After loosing both my elderly kitties this summer 60 days apart. I didn t want to adopt anymore. My kitties were 15 and 17 years old both from lollipop. Anyway I adopted Ali and Wednesday was very concerned called lollipop about X-rays taken. They asked me to bring in i did. Re took X-rays. She s fine JANE. What a wonderful person explained all things reassuring manor. Wonderful place. Donating I see all the animals dropped off. One person brought 8 cats in. They never refuse. They work hard and compassion is obvious. God bless this organization. Sue wood
This place is amazing! The whole experience was just smooth and very organized. I would highly recommend getting any new family members from here. This is our story....
We recently added a new member to our family. His name is Diesel and he is just the missing puzzle piece that we needed. He is definitely a big lap dog (at 79 lbs) and we adopted him from Lollypop Farm. We looked at a couple of other dogs but I kept coming back to him. He really looked sad and just wanted some love. We requested a meet and greet once we realized that he would adapt well in our home. Lollypop told us that our big guy didn't like toys, but when he comes in the meet and greet he grabs a toy and starts chowing down. He had so much personality explode out that I was hooked. We definitely had found our newest member. They provided vaccinations, microchipping, toys, food, collar, and a vet visit free! Diesel has been a wonderful addition to our family and we couldn't be happier. My son tells everyone he has a new "brother"
Please don't get upset when they tell you that an animal won't be the best fit for your family. They are placing these fur babies in homes that will work with the animals personality, not yours. They want what is best for them, not you. Understand that.
My daughter adopted a cat from Lollypop in May 2015. He was an older cat with a sweet personality. He was in the cat room with may other cats. They went over his health history and told us his only problem was his weight - he weighed 21 lbs. They said to feed him fish oil to help with his dry flaky skin. Two weeks later, my daughter and I both had ringworm. The cat's dry skin was a VERY bad case of ringworm which is very contagious and went undiagnosed by their vet. Being in the cat room and petted by many people every day, he was also exposing visitors to ringworm, as well as all of the other cats.
My daughter worked to rid her apartment of the ringworm spores and quarantined the cat while he was being treated. She loved him a lot and was willing to do anything to make him well.
Two months after adopting him and over $1000 in medical bills, she had to put him down. It was very traumatic for her, but there was nothing else she could do. The veterinary hospital believes his ringworm was so bad because his immune system was not functioning. The day he died, he had no white blood cell count and they suspect he had feline aids.
I would not recommend Lollypop for pet adoptions based on this experience.
I used to think Lollypop was great UNTIL they heartlessly euthanized a puppy that my family went to great lengths to rescue in April 2012. Prince Murphy did not deserve to die. There were people who cared for him and who would have sprung him from there in a second if the they had given him the smallest chance. I was thereafter given the runaround repeadedly when I inquired about him, and when I found out that they had put him down I communicated my outrage by email and phone and through their website, but I was never given any explanation or regrets. When I mentioned this to a dog trainer who used to work there, he said he quit because of these sort of issues, and described Lollipop as the most corrupt organization he had ever come across. There are many other animal rescue operations to support in this community. Lollipop will not get another dime of my money.
Just adopted snookie today, little 6-1/2 pd yorkie, Love her so much, she is right at home already. Thank you so much, everyone was so kind & caring. Thank you katie for calling me this morning..
I love the work that they do. They really try hard to place animals. Adopted from there before. Great experience. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is something I have against a lot of animal shelters, not being 100% no kill.
Terrible place his name was Maxwell. Doberman that was raised in a crate before we got him. My parents didn't know how to train him properly he was a nervous dog which is expected if crate trained. I wanted him and before I could get him he was put down. He did bite a few but he was a good dog for the most part he just needed to be trained. He was a royal pure bred doberman. His potential is above the charts and I forever miss Maxwell. He would have been great if trained correctly and I was willing to do that. I love you Maxwell and miss you and I hate you lolly pop farm for what you did.
I adopted a beautiful cat on May 23rd. They did not do the Feline Leukemia Virus Test or choose to not put the results in her adoption paper work. Because when I took her to my vet they did the test because they thought it was odd that Lollypop had not done the test, my cat came back POSITIVE! Which means I may have only two years with her and shes only 10 months old. But I have two other fur children I have adopted from Lollypop without any problems.
I like what they're doing for animals but I hate that they put to sleep animals who doing get adopted. Also, I went to get a safe trap to catch a loose animal in my backyard (animal control was notified, however they never came). I was told it was unsafe for the dog (but was ok for a cat??). Anyway, a few days went by and the dog got hit by a car and had to be put to sleep since the injuries were so bad. I cant help but think this couldve been avoided if I had the trap
We had an appointment and they took us right in on time. The staff is amazing. Everyone cares about their job. They genuinely care about the animals. They do their best job to try to match the animals with the customer. We found about three cats that were of interest. The best cat for us was matched perfectly. She loves us and we love her. Very happy
Played phone tag with woman in charge of Spaying/Neutering. Finally got a hold of her and she wanted me to pay upfront (nonrefundable) for the cost of the surgery, only to have them schedule for May, two whole months away. After I told her I couldn't wait until then, her whole tone changed. Not only are they rude every time I have ever called, they euthenize animals too much. I get you might not have the space, but there's the Kathleen Tenny animal shelter here in town I took my 3 kittens to, and they are a no kill shelter and they get tons of cats and always re-home them to amazing people and families. So happy I didn't go here. I feel bad for all the animals that get tossed in that place.
My girlfriend and I are very displeased with Lollypop Farm on 99 Victor Rd. I ll try to make this review to-the-point.
On Sunday, June 24th at around noon, we discovered a stray dog roaming our street. We quickly called the dog over, so that it would be safe from cars, and took it to the Lollypop Farm.
Legally, they had to hold the dog for 5 days (to give its rightful owners a chance to reclaim him). Lollypop Farm explained to us that after the 5 days they ll be going through tests to make sure the dog is in good health (behaviorally and physically), and if it would be fit for adoption. We were told that this process may take up to two weeks.
Lollypop Farm s employees explicitly stated more than once that when the dog became ready for adoption they d give us a courtesy call , notifying us that the dog is ready for a new home.
My girlfriend and I called them every other day for a week and a half, asking the status of the dog and if it were available for adoption yet. I was not on the consent form that we originally signed when we brought the dog in, so they refused to talk to me about the dog, they would only take calls from my girlfriend. My girlfriend kept getting the same response from them: we ll give you a courtesy call when he s ready.
With all that being said, my girlfriend called again today, July 3rd, to discover that the dog had been not only adopted, but adopted without any courtesy call reaching our phones. Needless to say we were very displeased, and unaccommodated for. We tried reasoning with them; we were the ones who brought the dog in, and called frequently, so we should ve gotten at least a courtesy call as promised.
We talked to management, and they bluntly said that it was a minor mistake and the dog is in a happy home. The gist I got from them was that they either didn t think we would make good owners, or some other underlying politics that went into the dog s adoption.
We bought a plethora of dog supplies, and got mentally prepared for dog ownership, only to have it crumble in front of our eyes because of their ineptitude.
If you find a stray and want to adopt/rescue it, don t go through lollypop farm or you might have this happen to you.
I came in everyday so that I could adopt a dog I had been lovingly passing and talking to, and I came in the day after all his necessary procedures he had to have done. They told me that he probably would not be able to have him cleared for adoption that day and the vets to check on him would be off till 2 days later. So I did the animal search alert for it to notify me exactly when he is cleared. I call hours later to see if he was cleared, they told me yes, and that someone was looking at him right at that moment. But I had recieved no notification and he wasnt listed on the site for adoption even though they say they update it live for when they are ready. So I rush over and complained how if it was first come first serve policy then if I was first for an application and came in everyday. . . why was I not first when I was there this morning when he had been cleared as soon as I was about to leave? If you want a well loved and well prepared place to adopt. Do not expect humane treatment to humans here. They broke my heart, and wasted my time and money as well. Goodbye lollypop, you were wonderful when you cared about every living thing.
Disgusting place.. And very Dissapointed! Do not take your pets here EVER! They only care about money not the families left behind. If I could give a 0 I would... Rating them a 1 is too high!
I tried reviewing on their Facebook page, but got harassed for it, so I'll post here. I'm voicing my experience in hopes that this review might help someone else. I used to volunteer at lollypop. I adopted 4 rabbits and a dog from them. Shortly after starting there I realized it was a high kill shelter and one that really only cared about the money. Amber (a rabbit), was my third adoption. As a small animal volunteer, I sat with Amber every week and noticed she had nasal discharge as well as runny eyes and raspy breathing. I knew she couldn't go to anyone but me because no one else would recognize these red flags and give her the attention she needed. Before adopting her I had the vet check over her twice and obviously they found nothing wrong because they didn't want to put the time or money into her. Had you people done your job, you would've seen that runny eyes and nasal discharge are common for dental problems or possibly snuffles or another respiratory issue. Either your vets don't know what they're doing or you flat out neglected to put the effort into figuring out what was actually wrong. You had her on different medications while she was there for close to a month and saw no improvement. Surprise surprise I took her home and she grew an abscess due to your lack of attention. It was in fact a tooth issue and respiratory issue. I had my vet to a surgery to remove the abscess and trim her teeth. She went into cardiac arrest during surgery. Thank you lollypop for neglecting the health of one of the sweetest rabbits I've ever met.
I brought my son to lollipop to adopt a kitten. When we were there, they didn't have any kittens but my son found a cat he absolutely wanted. It was the nastiest looking cat you can imagine. His fur was a nasty and crusted with something and he wouldn't look out the window at all. I tried to talk him into any other cat but this was the one he wanted. When the counselor brought the cat into the meet and greet room it immediately hid from everyone. We let him hide while the counselor read the notes about him. He had been brought in several weeks prior, and had a lot of issues. He had been living on the street for an unknown length of time and the people who brought him in thought he was a feral cat. At first, he was not interested in people but during his first couple days, the staff eventually reported he would roll onto his back to have his tummy rubbed so he was not feral, just incredibly afraid of people. She had gone over the behavior reports from the staff and explaining how the cat had been through surgery to remove a number of bad teeth which got him put on antibiotics that he was fighting against taking thus getting his fur all nasty. The counselor then brought the cat out of the box he was hiding in. Once he realized he wasn't going to be allowed back into it, he immediately went to my son, headbutted his leg and threw himself down onto his back for tummy rubs. At that moment, it was a done deal. There was no way my son was going to settle for one of the "nicer looking" cats.
After he was released by the staff vet a couple days later and cleared for adoption, we picked him up and brought him home. He still looked like a walking corpse of a cat, all skin and bones, with nasty fur that he was clearly not interested in cleaning. I figured I would wait and see how he turned out once he had a couple days to settle in. After hiding under a bed for an hour, he came out and began to explore the house. Within an hour of that, he was following people around like a puppy, sitting in laps and just being the friendliest cat ever. He immediately began cleaning his fur and turned into this gorgeous grey tiger on top with a white lower half with the softest fur imaginable. He keeps his fur immaculate now to the point that my wife who is allergic to cats cuddles with him for hours without any symptoms.
Best cat adopted ever. Very surprised that my son saw past the outer zombie cat to see the inner awesome. More surprised that he was kept that long and had that much work done to bring him back up to adoptable standards instead of being euthanized.
My only complaints about the process would be that the staff make you feel like they are doing you a favor by letting you adopt one of their animals. I was very put off by the third degree I received. The adoption fees, while not as high as buying a pet from a pet store, were significantly higher than the amounts they state (in my case, my 5 year old cat cost me almost 150 in adoption fees which was the rate posted for kittens who are twice as expensive). Given the number of free pets you can find online, the staff at the humane society could better serve the animals they take care of by understanding that they aren't the only option for people to get pets and that maybe they could try to not make you feel like you don't deserve these animals.
I adopted a horse from them 2 years ago. They worked with both the horse and I made sure we were going to be a good fit and answered any questions we had. We also got a full background on the horse. Blackjack is now living a happy life with 2 other horses.
Don t give them your business. My wife and I fell in love with a dog here that was on medical hold. We visited her every day, we sat cross-legged on the floor in front of her cage, petting her through the bars because they wouldn t let us take her out until she was released. On the day of her surgery, we waited for her and then sat with her against the bars. But they wouldn t let us put our name on a list for her and told us just to check the website. When she was finally posted, we rushed over, but there was another couple who happened to be in the lobby already, and they let them adopt her, right in front of us.
This place is bad I know people said ignore the bad comments but when my dad took the kitten that was in our house for a long time to lollypop farm and they killed my kitten I was crying for over 5 days then I tried to forget. Conclusion: Never take your animals to lollypop farm.
The greece ridge location is better.. they say there's only 1 price for cats/dogs but little dogs are 500 dollars. A friend got a cat from there and they were trying to discourage her from getting that one. She went with her gut and got him and he's the most loveable kitty in the world. I love lollypop but there's also some negatives like any place.
Im disgusted by lolly pop farm and there lies and being mis leaded into thinking that this is the best place...because its NOT
My mother and I brought our loved cat Tippy and her 6 kittens to lolly pop because of the good reviews we've heard, and thought this was a shelter where they do not kill the animals. Which was NOT the case, we couldn't keep 6 kittens so we decided that it would be best to bring them here to get a nice home. We brought tippy the mother of the kittens for the ride and comfort for the kittens that were only 4 weeks old. NOT planning on giving her away. When getting there we were told that it would be best to keep the mother with the kittens because there to young to be away from her and that we should Surrender tippy with the kittens. I didn't want to but they assured us that we can come back in about 4 weeks to get the mother back, we knew that she could get adopted but we took that chance. We were told that they would spay her and wait until the kittens were old enough and at least 2 pounds until they put them up for adoption, also we were told because I asked they do not kill them !! Only if they have a disease. We come back about 5 weeks later and were told that tippy and all 6 kittens were killed...because of time and space !!??? I was torn my mother was torn..it makes me so upset! That we were lied to, they killed our family cat that we now have to lie to my 5 year old niece that tippy has a better home.I mean the least they could do is reach out to the people who surrendered the animals let them know that there is no space, because no innocent animal deserves to be killed cause there's no space. I'm truly heart broken and disgusted that this company has a reputation to our community being known for a good place and it is not !!! There is nothing humane about killing innocent animals because of space !!! I will keep telling my story too!
Made appointment for my cat and her kittens , took a month to get a call back and had to wait 2 weeks to drop them off. Was told they will be killed by end of day because of no room,,,,,, then y give me appt . I know they still might be put down , if ill or don't get adopted, I would have never brought them with no hope. My landlord would be let me keep them longer. Already has made appt. to exterminate before he sells .
Many people do not realize how many animals that Lollypop kills every year. Don't get me wrong Lollypop does do some good work for the animals in our community but they also kill many, many animals. These animals are then dumped in a local landfill like garbage, how horrific! Lollypop seems to have become very political and money oriented and if you ask me they have lost thier true vision. What a shame. There are many No Kill shelters out there and unfortunately Lollypop is not one of them.
OK people I have been adopting form lollypop farm for my whole life and all my animals are healthy energetic and playful I think all you poopers who are giving lollipop a bad review should take a look at themselves you really need to step back and look at what they're doing for the community you guys out there need to stop I have adopted becoming two year old kitten that is healthy energetic playful and the kindest little cat I've ever met. I don't think that he has anything wrong with him. Okay sometimes they might have to put down animals just because something is really wrong when they can't fix it or they have some reason to and I know reasons can be little or restraining. But they take care and love each of each and every animal they send us emails to check in on how are on how my cat is doing and we send them a picture and tell them how he's doing will send as text messages and when they will call us they really truly care about every single animal in there. I just don't understand how you people can just sit there and give lollipop a bad review I don't know how you sleep with yourself at night I don't understand how you don't have guilt biting you in the back of your neck. If you have any problems with my review reply or apply it like I care
I wish I could give you guys a negative rating. You guys turned us away when a stray was hit by a car and was suffering! There is NOTHING Humane about that. NOTHING. I am so livid with this place right now. And you call yourselves a Humane Society?! Oh and don t worry, I found a place who will do a good stand euthanasia for the poor cat and put it out of its misery. Shame on you guys.
If I could give them no stars I would. For being a shelter that supposedly wants their animals to go to good caring homes they were very cold and more like an adult that you steal your lollipop then care about the humans that come to find new a new family member. The system that they have for adoption pets is cruel and leaves many with broken hearts. If you come in and fall for a sweet fuzzle who isnt on their available list you end up playing an awful game of first come first serve that feels more like you are trying to get meat at a deli then a fur friend. They also claim that they update their website live which isnt completely true. It just seems that they would rather get the animals in any home and dont care about the quality of the home or if you have been looking at the animal and tracking the animal since you saw then even when they werent initially available. Lollipop farms if you ever read this no one I know will support your business ever again.
I adopted a puppy from Lollipop, a shepard/lab mix, in 1994 that gave me, my son and most people who met him the greatest 16 years of love imaginable. I've also gotten 3 cats that gave us lovin for 20 plus years. What a fantastic shelter
I just adopted a dog here because he was givin a chance. Nash is a dog who was acting crazy, not very good at the shelter. I had been worned multiple times! I still made the decision to get him and make him my family. Within the first 24 hours we have formed a bond that is unbreakable. He sits, he let's go of toys. He has already improved on the leash and he will go lay down in the crate with the door open. He loves car rides and getting verbal praise. He loves tug if war and has become good at fetch. He is much more mellow in a home environment and was seriously stressed in the animal shelter. But what these people have done is take a dog that looked hopless and given him a chance taught him lasting behaviors that make my life easier and gave me a new best friend. I'm grateful that I was able to become the owner of this amazing animal. And I owe that opportunity to Lollypop Farm. An organization I will stand by for life! Nash and I will definitely be back for a visit!
Not Sure about you guys. I just called about dropping my beagles mix of to you guys. Your response was you'll have to set up an appoinment in order to establish availability. How the hell can't you guys tell me your availability over the phone. You guys take any pet regardless is what some reviews say. Also you guys have a rich website so how is it I'm not given a direct answer as to you guys having ability to take my pet? It seems very clear to me that availability is not an issue. please tell me exactly how I'm wrong if I am.
Lollypop should get a worse rating than this because we had found a cat there and adopted him. We had bought a 100 dollar flea collar for him and took care of him. But one day he was outside because he's an outdoor cat and someone thought he was lost so they took him to Lollypop we had him fixed there for 40 dollars and when we went to pick him up they said they gave him away. This annoys us very much because he was only there for a couple of days and they didn't even give us a refund for the 140 dollars we had spent on him.
This is a wonderful place if you want to just look at some animals or if you intend to adopt they have all sorts of animals ranging from cats dogs horses pigs and more there's also an area where you can interact with some of the animals they're always clean and well maintained
I had an appointment made to visit the agency to adopt a small animal. Upon arrival a woman came out and told us she was sorry but someone had just adopted them and it's first come first serve. My daughter was crushed and I wasted half my day to make that appointment just to be told someone else beat us to them and it's first come first serve. Had I known that I would have made the appointment for first thing in the morning so this did not happen. Im very dissatisfied with the way I was treated and I don't see a point in making an appointment when it's first come first serve. Had I known it was first come first serve I would have been there this morning instead of the time they gave me to show up. I'm extremely disappointed and didn't think adoption agencies operated like this and I will definitely not be setting up anymore appointments to bring my daughter to so she can leave in tears again. Thanks for wasting my time and ruining my daughter's day lollypop farm.
so in order to adopt an animal we have to make an appointment and then hope the animal that we wish to adopt is still there? I guess it would have been different if you guys hadn't called me 3 times and emailed me twice thorughout the day to make sure I was going to keep my appointment and then when I show up tell me the animals I made the appointment to see where not even there. I guess I felt like I was on the bad end of a prank, you guys even called me on my way there to see if I was coming LoL oh well at least now I know how you guys oprerate.
I know people who have adopted many animals from Lollypop Farm and have volunteered there. I adopted a cat from Lollypop Farm last year. I was impressed with the wonderful care they gave her.
I just recently adopted Stella a four year old pitbull mix and she is the most wonderful precious lovable dog that I have ever had. She gets along well with my older dog at home she loves everybody...she's good in the car, not aggressive at all. She's a blessing and I'm thankful and grateful to have been able to adopt her. The staff at Lollypop is exceptional and took great care with me and Stella. Thank you all at Lollypop!
It was terrible for my granddaughter. She sat on the sidewalk and cried because she could not see the dogs and cats. She cried and cried. My wife's blouse was wet with years. This is not posted that you could not see them.
Hi, I've never reviewed anything in my life before but, I'm simply appalled by what I've just experienced. It was cruel, humiliating and outright unjustified. I love Lollypop farm, I visit all the time and was even planning to apply for a full time job there when I'm of age ( I have all of the paperwork and everything). Yesterday, we went in to see the kitten options they had. My boyfriend and his grandmother recently lost their 8 year old cat, this visit meant A LOT to us because a hole had been left in our family and has been effecting our lives daily. Not to mention, his grandmother can barely walk and rarely leaves the house, its painful for her to go anywhere. We fell in love with a kitten named Freckles, the only Male kitten there and the only kitten my boyfriend could fall in love with. We asked if we could see the kitten but, I'm 16 and my boyfriend is 17 (turning 18 in just a few days) so they said we couldn't see him. We vouched to come in today at 9 o' clock sharp with an adult for the cat and we did; we left the house at 8:30 and when we got there, there was only one couple waiting and the doors were still closed. But we were on the property with his grandmother struggling to stand with no seating in the hot sun so we were sure it would be worth the trouble and we'd get our kitty. The couple there before us immediately made sure we weren't there for the same cat and we weren't. Seems perfect right? Next, arrived another young woman, sadly she was looking for the same cat they were and had already met with the cat out of the cage, where as the couple had only seen her. The woman, however has the common human decency to say "oh well, first come first serve means first come first serve." Obviously, everyone there seemed to understand the rules we had been told, first come, first serve. Next arrived a young man who refused to talk to anyone there and claimed he was getting a cat for his gf. Every person there joked saying, "hopefully it's not Michele or Freckles because, we all got here first." The man refused to tell us what cat he was there for. At 9 o clock sharp, the manager opened the store and we all flooded in. My boyfriend and I immediately went to the cat we wanted, saying good morning and requesting to meet him but, the young man who had just arrived was already being handed and helped with the form. Yet, everyone there had been told we couldn't put the cats on hold, and everyone who had gotten there AFTER us were already getting their cats. You see, my boyfriend's grandma was still struggling to get through the door. The man then preceded to purchase the cat before us, causing me and my boyfriend's grandmother to cry. Every customer there was telling the man he had no right to the cat since, we had been there first. Yet, here we are with no cat, never going to PetSavers ever again. I have never heard an elderly woman so upset in my life, just because of our ages, our family wasn't allowed the right to a pet that obviously loved us and we obviously loved very much. I am highly disappointed in the Webster PetSavers location for this atrocious customer service and this outright horrific day. Although we're still going to get a cat through Lollypop, I will never go into that PetSavers even if I've been buying from there since the day it opened in the plaza. Thank you and I hope this issue of morality is fixed now.
We adopted out new puppy from Lollypop farm and had a great experience. Our adoption counselor Emma J. was amazing and worked with us and helped us out through this process. Would recommend that is someone is looking into adopting a dog that the first place they go is to Lollypop Farm.
Adopted Sunny the Green wing Macaw....she's really come out of her shell and not depressed looking anymore. says Good morning in her Minnie mouse voice and loves to be touched
I adopted an 8 year old cat 1 year ago. and it was the best decision Ive made in years. I found her online on lollypop farms web site.I noticed that she had been on there for quite a long time, like 2 months. when I went there to look at her I wasnt impressed because she was hiding at the rear of her cage. but once I was able to see her in one of the rooms there, she changed and brightened right up. and from that moment on. I told her that she will NEVER go back into a cage again! Thankyou lollypop farm.!
I have been in touch with Lollypop farm regarding the sale of pit bull puppies from a puppy mill right next door to my home several times and NOTHING has ever been done. These people routinely breed their MANY dogs and sell them for many hundreds of dollars then take the unsold puppies to the shelter, usually lolly pop or Happy tails in Canandaigua...............So please do not purchase pit bull puppies from the Nagys at 6075 Lawrence Hill Rd Springwater NY..............Thank you
I'm not discrediting the good work they do but I had a terrible experience that I will never surrender animals to them again and honestly have never been treated with such a lack of compassion as I was at the time. I was told I could bring in a large number of kittens that I rescued from an unfortunate situation and all were surrendered in Hope's of a better life for them i traveled hours with the poor babies got there with relief and happiness for them thinking they were going to have a chance at life. Not long after arriving I was told they all had to be euthanized as they had cat lice and they didn't have space to treat them...i offered them the dog crates that i had put them in to travel comfortably etc. Tried everything to save the poor babies and didn't even know if all the kittens had lice but was told had to assume they did since one tiny kitten did...I was wreck as I was fulfilling a dying wish to rehome and give them a better chance at life. Luckily a rescue group told me to bring them the kittens that LPF did not have room to treat but I was told by 2 officers at LPF that i could not take the kittens unless they were seen by a vet that night even after reassuring them that every one of the kittens would be seen by a vet the next day...mind you I traveled hours with the poor things spent a long time at LPF it was evening by then and had hours to travel back home and no vet would be open at 830 at night. I am in shock with the lack of compassion that was shown...not one person in my distress tears and all said I'm sorry about this I know how hard this must be etc...nothing!!! When the rescue group finally talked to LPF and told them what they wanted to hear I was finally allowed to travel hrs. back home with half of the kittens I came with to the rescue group that would save them...the kittens were seen by a vet the next day and guess what-not one of them had lice! Thd vet said it takes a microscope to view lice and takes alot of time and that the kittens only had dander and that lice is very treatable like fleas. And LPF went to the extent to say I was aggressive towards them when I was in tears trying everything offering anything I could to to save the poor babies! Again will not discredit the good they do but the experience was truly traumatizing and just utterly shocking the lack of compassion shown! Word of advice if youre surrendering an animal to them...make sure you know the animals overall health and your rights are as the person surrendering. Feeling helpless when trying to save these babies from death was terrible! Happy ending all kittens are healthy and adopted by wonderful families thanks to an amazing rescue group that had a heart! I will never think of LPF the same and can only pray the poor babies I had to leave behinde with them as the rescue group could not take the number of kittens I brought were not eunethenized and given a chance...terrible feeling when you thought you were giving them a chance and their lives were going to be ended! And if you cant have compassionate enough to see people's distress when told animals lived are going to be ended you shouldn't be in that line of work! I can only focus now on the poor kittens whose lives I know were spared and now have loving homes thanks to a wonderful compassionate rescue group!
I wanted to address just a few major misconceptions that people posting negative reviews about Lollypop seem to have.
In regards to the fact that they are a kill shelter: First and foremost, the decision to terminate any animal's life is not a decision that they take lightly. Many people choose to drop off animals with diseases and health issues too severe to handle in hopes of giving the animal one last chance. Other animals, especially dogs, are brought in with major human aggression issues. Lollypop cannot release these animals to be adopted - It wouldn't be right to the customers that they serve. Yes, Lollypop is a kill shelter. No, savable, adoptable animals are not being killed without considerations.
Next, yes, Lollypop will make you jump through hoops. They expect you to live in a stable home, be at least 21 years old, and be a good fit for any animal that you adopt. This mans that they will not adopt out shy dogs to people with loud kids, active dogs to people with inactive lifestyles, or dog-aggressive dogs to people that already have dogs. Yes, there are a lot of requirements. These requirements are in please to ensure that the animals are going to forever homes, and not simply ending back at the shelter when a family is unable to care for them.
With all of that said, Lollypop farm is a great place to get an animal. All dogs and cats are evaluating for behavior, health, and other issues before they are adopted out. The facilities are nice, the adoption counselors will work with you to find the right pet for you, and the behavior team works hard to help you train/bond with your new dog.
I always enjoy visiting Lollypop Farm. I love animals, wish I could adopt them all! Yes, sometimes I have a tear in my eye when I leave but know also that Lollypop will do the best they can to adopt and care for all of the animals.
The facility is quite nice, clean an enjoyable experience both visiting the cats, dogs, birds, small animals and all of the farm animals.
We went to visit Lollypop just to browse. We found a lab that we liked but found out she was not suitable for our 2 year old. We were upset but the lady at the desk said there was a lab puppy yet to be put out and we could see him. We did and fell in love. We didn't think we'd be able to take him home that day but we did!
It was a smooth and easy process and we got him half off! He's a great addition to our family and we couldn't be happier with Lollypop!
Lollypop farm in Fairport, NY is an amazing animal shelter. They have a huge facility designed to care and shelter animals of all types and species. Whether you're adopting or dropping off, this is the best place to go to. Very well run with lots of amenities for all the animals and the staff is friendly, very knowledgeable and professional. You can even visit for free just to have a day out for the agricultural experience. 5 stars!
I have adopted two cats, Pumkin came home October 30th, 2015 and Jackson came home just a few months later. Pumkin is never more than a few steps away-she s a huge snuggle bug since the day I got her. Jackson was an office cat there for a while before I got him- and still a big boy. I call him my 23 pounds of love. Both times the adoption process has been smooth and I would not hesitate to go here again when I add to my fur family in the future.
We have adopted several pets from lollipop farm and we love to go and visit the animals that they have!! We got two bunnies and the best cat dog in the world Jenny!! Possibly looking to adopt a new friend! There are so many animals that need a home and to many for to much at the pet store get a great companion and for a good cause as well! Two thumbs up!!
I adopted a kitten from here and I just want my money back!!. I've never had a kitten so scared to even come out. Wherever they rescue some of these cats from and whatever they do to them afterwards makes them petrified.
Great family friendly place to visit with animals. Staff could be more helpful with questions and being friendly. The animals are the love of the farm. Supporting our animal friends so a home can be found for them and they can be showered with love
