I needed to go to the ER for a bad sore throat at 3 AM. The wait was not long but when I saw the doctor he was very rude and acted as if it were an inconvenience he had to see me. The nurse was far worse. I needed 2 steroid shots in my bottom and she stabbed me so hard the needle hurt more than the medicine going in. I am a grown woman and it made me cry. The people there are SO RUDE AND HAVE THE WORST BEDSIDE MANNER! DO NOT GO THERE, GO TO SMITHVILLE INSTEAD! If I could give it negative stars or zero I would.

I recently had a 12 hour Clinical rotation at the SMMC Emergency room where I had the pleasure of working with some of the greatest folks that I have ever met. If you do find yourself in this ER or hospital in general, you will be treated well.

If i can avoid this ER at all cost i would. I took my daughter in because she had head pain, fever, and had been extremely lethargic for several days. They ran some blood tests and could not find anything wrong. Sent her home with medicine for upset tummy because she had vomited a few days before(even though we told them she was no longer vomiting). Went to her pediatrician the next day with same symptoms. She sent us straight to dell childrens in austin. They quickly did a ct scan and found a tumor in my childs head. St. Marks sent my daughter home with a tumor. Even though she had been experiencing all the symptoms of one. Very dissapounted by this ER.

I needed quick x-rays of my leg due to upcoming doctor visit the same day. At all stages from receptionist to registering and x-rays staff all were simply Texas-friendly fantastic! St. Mark's Center provided me with a wonderful service and best of all 25 minutes later I was on my way to see a doctor! Being from Chicago this truly was impressive experience!

Excellent rural health facility with caring, knowledgeable staff and doctors.

I personally was treated for snake bite a few years back and had an exceptional experience comparable and better than big-city hospitals.

Kind Regards,

My girlfriend was having stomach burning and chest pains and shortness of breath so we brought her in. They seemed to not care at all about a possibly dying teen girl and seemed to be more in depth with their cell phones instead of the patients. I was not about to wait in the waiting room for 3 hours and another 2 hours in the to be seen room. We went to Seton in Smithville instead, highly recommend Seton over St. Marks any day.

This Hospital's ER is both overcrowded and under staffed. I had to wait over three hours in ER just to have a Blood Sugar test for high glucose. And another hour to get a Insulin shot. All together I spent five hours in their ER for a $1,234.00 bill. Now to add insult to injury, I get a bill from the ER Doctor for $1,500.00 for him to let the ER Nurse give me a Blood sugar test. WTF.

To get an ech cardigan gram done they want to bull you over 1500.00 if you pay up front then after they state they are not done with you yet as there are other so called fees following. Austin Heart next door did the same test for 250.00 to 300.00 before they sold the equipment to St.Marks. Seems to me someone has there hands in the cookie jar.
As far as I am concerned building full of a bunch of crooks. They will give you no such reason for the pricing they have ZERO. HELL AT LEAST GIVE A MEALY MOUTHED EXCUSE. LIE TO ME AT LEAST. DAMN CLOWN SHOW.
AND I PAY UP FRONT CASH.

My family has used Saint Mark's Medical Center emergency room twice. Both occasions were for immediate medical threats and on both occasions we were triaged to the top of the list and brought in prior to finishing the paperwork. We have good insurance in our total out-of-pocket for both medical emergencies was around $150. If you live in the Fayette County region make sure your insurance covers st. Mark's emergency room and their doctors. Otherwise your insurance is useless.

This hospital as well as many others in this area, I feel, do not treat their patients right when it has to do with pain. For ex. I had a C-SECTION in Columbus and was treated as if I had a splinter. My husband had to get 6 stitches today for accidentally cutting his wrist open on the job and they didn't give him so much as some Tylenol. My daughter broke her foot and Columbus didn't give her Tylenol and misdiagnosed her saying she had a green vine bend and didn't give us a referral for a cast saying it would heal. But got a second opinion and it was actually BROKE and should of had a cast the next day!!! SMH

I can't say anything bad about this hospital. My elderly mother had to have emergency abdominal surgery. They were on top of the situation the entire time. To a person they were attentive and helpful. The nursing staff was outstanding. For a small hospital in a small town they are impressive! The people of Fayette County need to keep this gem.

Don't go here they don't care the doctor didn't even listen to what I was saying said I needed to go to PC doctor it was nothing they could do they couldn't run any test or anything. Like what the hell. Avoid at all cost.

Other review is correct; the ER is abysmal.

Other review is correct; the ER is abysmal.
It is contracted out to a company out of Dallas, if I'm not mistaken. So St. Marks has little to do with its day-to-day operation.
You are charged at the ER. Then you get a bill from the 3rd party managers.
If you are able, drive to Smithville Regional. Only about 15 minutes further, and much better care, shorter wait times, and you'll save some money as well.
