It's the best brunch in town, with lots of veggie and vegan options (but also plenty of meat and eggs for everyone else). There's usually a wait but it's worth every minute.

Only get coffee here. Food is overpriced to start but if you want something more healthy everything comes with salad which is weird for breakfast. My biggest gripe is that they put the largest orange slice garnish I've ever seen on my plate and it was right next to my eggs leaking into it so my eggs tasted orange it was gross. Who does that. I shoud have taken a picture it was a 1/4 of an orange I kid you not. I was will say their coffee is pretty darn amazing.
Great place to meet for an early Sunday breakfast, excellent tasting meal!
Soooooooo beyond incredible. I was taken aback when they offered to put our coffee in to go mugs when we were leaving. That was a wonderful added bonus. The food is phenomenal and fresh. It's only slightly pricey, but it's definitely worth it. My boyfriend and I went for the first time and then had to go again the following weekend!
A great place to eat at. Good food and reasonable prices.
The food here is amazing and the coffee is to die for
I met up with a friend here on a Sunday afternoon. We didn't have to wait too long for a table inside. I ordered the soyrizo bowl I believe it was called, and a golden milk. Although I'm not vegetarian, I did enjoy my meal well enough. But I could definitely taste the difference. At least it was healthy! I've always wanted to try golden milk and I really enjoyed my first at Square Cafe! My friend got some kind of smoothie that was beyond good! There are so many delicious looking items to try that accommodate any dietary needs. The place is very popular, it was crowded our entire time there through to closing at 3pm. I loved seeing families with young kids who were able to come and enjoy a nice meal together. Definitely a casual atmosphere. Our waitress was nice as well. I'll be back, thank you!
Very well-attended eatery, the tables are tight and it was quite loud. The map is very big and comprehensive. The food tasted good. Unfortunately parking is not always easy to find.
My only complaint is how popular this place is on a Sunday morning! I love their smoothies and sausage and egg omelette!
Eclectic environment with great food and selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.
Expensive but worth it. A very hip place to eat lunch. Food was good and service was even better. I will go there again when I visit the Pittsburgh area again.
We loved Square Cafe! Our food was great and the service was wonderful. It is pricey, but worth it. However, $8.50 for a kids meal is outrageous! I am not sure how a kids meal is almost the same as an adult meal. I'd recommend going if you don't have children to feed :)
Great food! Have both healthy and hearty options! The endless coffee makes it absolutely worth it! I keep introducing it to all my friends!
i literally have never had a bad meal here. everything i order is delicious! make sure to ask about their daily specials - their pancakes are out of this world! i took my friend here and she returned 2x in that same week with other people she loved it so much.
Food is always amazing. Brussel sprouts and grits are my favorite. My boys love the pancakes and breakfast sandwich.
I have a wheat allergy, and the fact that this place has gluten free options clearly labeled on the menu is already one big point in its favor... as it turns out, not only do they have gluten free pancakes, but they re actually really good! They were fluffy and tasty and very filling. I took half of them home for breakfast the next day, and they were still great then.
The atmosphere, as one would expect in a popular brunch spot, is a little chaotic but it s a nice warm kind of chaos. The servers I interacted with were personable and knowledgeable and the art on the walls (much of which is for sale) was great! My friends and I had a few pieces picked out that we would have bought if we d made better life choices and had more money.
I would absolutely return here. It was a good enough experience that I didn t mind having to wait outside in the cold for 20 minutes for a table to open up, and as someone who recently moved back to PA from Southern California, that s saying a lot.
I live fairly close, but I would travel far for this place. Amaizing eggs benedict, great regular menu too. Hand crafted coffee and super cute wait staff ;)
Square might be my favorite place to eat breakfast or brunch in all of Pittsburgh. The menu is excellent and their specials always are good. The coffee is also good as is the service. The only downside to square is they're always busy on weekends because of how good it is.
An excellent Regent Square institution! I used to live nearby, and walked to the Cafe often. Fantastically diverse and delicious food, and a staff that cares about your time here. Can't wait to go back!
The pancakes are good.....that's about it. Way too pricey for the quality of food you get. Burnt homefries, bland breakfast sandwich apparantly no refills on water. Given this place a few chances but always let down. Won't be returning. If I could I'd give it a negative review.
Had to get a refund today. I called, placed an order for pick up, and was told it would be an hour before it was ready. I arrived an hour later, then stood at the coffee bar and waited for 45 minutes. I was one of many waiting for orders. While there, I noticed that pretty much no one eating in the restaurant had been served. Seems like they may be over their heads at The Square Cafe with online orders and deliveries. Be prepared for extremely slow service, and if you order online or over the phone for a pick up, be prepared for that to take HOURS.
Super dope vibe. Get there early because it gets crowded really quickly. The pancakes are so delicious & the vegan/vegetarian menu is extensive.
The coffee selection is so good & the specialty lattes are scrumptious.
I got the cobb salad. Annoyingly bad.
Limp greens with some ham, an overcooked egg, chicken, and one cherry tomato on it. It was like a bad chef salad from a bad pizza place. The "creamy basil" dressing was broken and looked very unappetizing. I could only eat about 3 bites.
Always a nice place to relax and enjoy a good meal in pleasant surroundings.
New menu this week-very impressive! I had the new Brussels Sprouts bowl and it was amazing. Pancakes got rave reviews from our table and everyone loved the coffee and unique mugs. Fun and funky restaurant, highly recommend!
This place is awesome! The breakfasts are huge, the options are plentiful, and the atmosphere is fun. Even the coffee cups are in the shapes of squares! This is a great excuse to go visit Regent Square and possibly go take a walk through Frick Park. Definitely recommend this spot!
I love it , it's a small cozy neighborhood cafe with plenty of unique tasty choices ! A lil' Pittsburgh treat tucked away close to the city. A beautiful Park resides close across the street with walking trails through the woods ;)
Definitely not worth the value overpriced for what you get .2 adults and a child nothing special 41 00 for breakfast also you dont get a check the server has your check on a electronic pad and stands there and holds it while you pay and put the tip on very uncomfortable i will never be back.this is the first review ive given any restaurant thats how strongly i did not enjoy
Good food. A great variety for people of all diets. Not very big but you can order pickup too.
Great atmosphere. Cute sidewalk seating. Excellent food!
Love this neighborhood mainstay! Not what I'd consider an amazing value, but nonetheless a solid choice for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, with pleasant outdoor seating.
Quite popular, so expect a long wait at peak times.
Food was excellent and the portions were very generous!
Stopped for brunch on my walk back from the gym. The breakfast selection was quite wide. I had the breakfast burrito and coffee both of which were excellent! I will definitely come back again.
Really good brunch. Great staff. Ridiculous wait at times.
By far the best Rueben sandwich I ve ever had. Meat was tender and extremely flavorful. And the fries were excellent as well. Highly recommend.
My wife and i really enjoy this place, everything is fresh and delicious, the portions are big and the prices are super fair. It has a nice vibe to it and the coffee is great!
Always packed so be prepared to wait for a table. Food is always delicious. Atmosphere is fast paced, loud and cozy. Service is typically on point.
Came here on a recommendation of a friend. Was not disappointed by the selection. I got the salmon and eggs while my partner got the Chorizo bowl- both were delicious! I don t drink coffee but my partner said it was a really good cup. Loved the vibe inside and outdoor seating is ideal for beautiful days. Had to wait a little on weekends, but it was worth the short wait.
Over priced cafeteria food! I ordered the burrito Which was ten dollars alone I had to pay a 3 dollar up charge if I wanted meat in it. 13 dollars for a small burrito. Tried this place again got a hamburger is was so nasty I couldn t even finish it . Never again
Awesome place for brunch in regent square. Everything is fresh and done properly, staff is friendly and prompt. There is usually a wait, but it's worth it!
A nice place for brunch, but it feels little bit crowded. The staff are super friendly too.
Every time I come here the food is great. Personally, I tend to like their breakfast offerings, but their sandwiches and fries are also delicious. Especially the fries! I wasn t sure what to expect, but they really do not disappoint.
Great atmosphere, nice servers a little packed in on the weekends, but that s part of the charm! A definite part of my regular rotation.
Great brunch spot and kid friendly. A step up from just a regular diner with lots of great coffee selections and menu choices. We've probably gone there about 4-5 times for brunch and loved it every time.
It's a good sign when there's always a wait at a restaurant, likewise when there's a regular clientele. Square Cafe is on my local shortlist for brunch. Their breakfast and lunch menus are solid and cover tasty options for diners of a variety of dietary restrictions.
Note that they don't take reservations, so expect to wait 10-20 minutes on a weekend.
Good food? , Great service? Welcoming environment ? .
What more could you ask for? I had the salmon omelette and it was to die for. Would give definitely recommend!
My review somehow got deleted so I'm going to write it again. The first time I went the food was great. The second time we came back we didn't even get to eat. We walked in and waited 5 minutes before someone even came up to us. The guy said we could sit at the bar. My husband asked about an open table in the back. The waiter said in a rude tone "oh, you want that one?! We save that for more than two people" and then he walked away! Stunned, we turned around and left. We went to a much cheaper and tastier breakfast place in the Strip. We will never come back here.
Great atmosphere here! We were told the wait was 15 minutes, but we were taken in five! The service was fast and the food was great. I ordered the chorizo scramble and a patty o peppermint latte. Good stuff! Great for vegetarians too!
Great food! Great service! A wonderful neighborhood gathering place!
Good food, good service in a fun atmosphere. Really good healthy eating options.
I stop here every time I'm in Pittsburgh. Wonderful combinations of flavors in a wide range of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes that accommodate carnivores and vegans alike. Located in a neighborhood on the move, its location in the city draws from surrounding areas to bring in hipsters to oldsters like me. Staff can be a little overwhelmed during the rush, but they work VERY hard to balance friendly attention with the need to get to all their diners. Prices reflect the local, sustainable sourcing and high quality of preparation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
One of the best places anywhere to find a unique delicious menu for health conscious people as well as for those who like to indulge. I adore this place. It is a love letter to anyone who likes food.
Really good breakfast plates, the protein pancakes were delicious. They pack a lot of people in, so be prepared to rub elbows with the table next to you. It's worth it, though.
The best breakfast/lunch spot in the city of Pittsburgh period!
I've never had anything there that didn't taste great! Good selection of vegetarian/vegan stuff and the staff is really friendly.
Great food, coffee, and shakes. Definitely a place that caters to both the health conscious and those with a sweet tooth.
I ordered here a few days ago. The food was good but the portion sizes were a joke .I paid 10.50 cent plus tax for ONE TINY NUTELLA CREPE with banana. It said I would get THREE CREPES on the menu with whipped cream, but no whipped cream and I only got one. Way too pricey for one tiny crepe . The sandwich I got was good but the side of home fries was also a tiny portion size joke too. I had to order from another restaurant after I ate the meal because I was still hungry. It was delicious but very tiny portion for alot of money. I can't afford it and I doubt most people can.
Great vegan options. They have Just vegan egg dishes, vegan cheddar and mozerella, vegan chorizo and Italian sausage. Great Kiva Han coffee too!
Fabulous food and fabulous people. Hopping on the weekends
Great place for breakfast or lunch. Quite an innovative menu. Love the square mugs.
Square Cafe is easily in my top 5 breakfast spots of all time and space.
The Square Cafe is a local restaurant near where I live. The food there was not very good and the prices were out the roof. However, the staff there were friendly. The service there was very fast. The only reason it is rated two stars is because it had good service. Overall, I would not recommend going to the Square Cafe
Awesome food in a busy neighborhood diner. Plan to wait at noon on Sunday. I typically go in off-peak times. Good service, great food, great coffee, I love it here!
This place is a joke. $11 for a breakfast sandwich and over $10 for a latte and cookie. Get over yourselves.
I love this place! The food is always delicious, the service is fast and friendly and the cafe is artsy! I love it!
Awesome menu, great service, and amazing ambience! Highly recommend!
Large selection of unique spins on classic food and beverages. Has vegetarian friendly items.
Cosy, good food. I come here when business places me in the area. Tough to find parking.
Very good food, good coffee too. Very busy, but good staff made it work. A bit pricey, but worth it once in a while.
Perfect little spot the people were very friendly I highly recommend
Tasty coffee and plenty of breakfast selection. They have lunch items, but breakfast is the real reason you go. Usually long line so get there early.
Great food, generous servings. Very pleasant servers. Very small, but worth the trip.
Loved this tiny and super busy place that is very dog friendly, served great food with good service!
I love this restaurant. It has such a cool atmosphere, the staff is always ridiculously friendly and helpful, and the food is SO GOOD. I highly recommend the chickpea beet burger. I swear I taste that sandwich in my dreams. The mugs (that you can buy!!) are unique and beautiful. I'm always happy to be on this side of Pittsburgh so I can stop here for lunch.
A very yummy breakfast! I had the protien pancakes and black coffee. Both were excellent! I was energized and full for hours afterwards.
Always great food. I get the specials everytime. Love the rotating menu.
