Square Cafe seems to have something for everyone and delivers it well. Their pared down menu has enough variety to satisfy and their drinks are creative and well made.
Favorite breakfast spot in Pittsburgh! Has a fun and laid back vibe with interesting and healthy menu options.
Delicious food with tons of vegetarian options. Went there for breakfast. The veggie breakfast burrito was delicious (esp with veggie sausage added). The caulflower, tofu, edamame scramble was good too. Big portions and friendly staff.
One of the greatest places in Pittsburgh for breakfast very cozy and busy but so worth the experience excellent food and amazing staff
Amazing service, great pancakes, friendly staff took the time to tell us about the area.
LOVE the food here. The lemon berry ricotta pancakes are da bomb!!! Always stop here when I'm in Pittsburgh. Highly recommend it!!
Service was impeccable! It would have been a 5 star, but the toast was burnt.
Sat outside and enjoyed the Brussel sprout grits bowl. Totally creamy!!
Amazing food. Wonderful atmosphere. Great service. I can't wait to go back.
Up watching the cooking channel 1-11-18 am. Pancake look crazy iam for them.
This place is always packed, but for good reason. The food is awesome, and they have a ton of unique vegan options that are actually very tasty. Highly recommend this little joint in Regent Square.
Delicious food and great atmosphere. Service could use a little work
I had the chicken sandwich for lunch it came out fast and was very tasty and spice was just right. Very clean.
Unfriendly, hair in glass, long wait, mediocre food
My ALL TIME FAVORITE breakfast place in the burgh. If you're coming at a hot time on the weekend, prepare to wait for a bit BUT definitely worth the wait!! Vegan and vegetarian options too and their lattes are to die for ugh
Ridiculously high prices for very little food. $13 for french toast all it was was two small pieces of toast no meat nothing! It wasn't anything special. I could have went to Texas road house and had a nice steak dinner. TWO. . READ IT..TWO PIECES OF FRENCH TOAST. $13.00.. NO BACON, NO SAUSAGE. And it wasn't even good!
Food was great, staff was courteous, prices are a bit high, but our goal was to support local, non-chain businesses. If the higher price ensures quality and business stability, then that's the priority.
I've never had a bad dish in this place! Space is tight but any wait is worth it.
We are so appreciative of the hot breakfast you provided to our staff here at the clinic. It was so kind of you and I appreciate the expense you took on in order to make this happen. Thank you so much! The sandwiches are delicious by the way and I love that you melt the cheese inside of the egg rather than laid on top- so yummy! Thank you!!!
We parked our moving truck (moving my son from CMU to Boston) outside, and although the restaurant was packed we were seated after a very short wait. The service was friendly and welcoming. The menu had many options from vegan, vegetarian, to many meat options ... The portions were lamberjack size and yet very tasty.
My only petpeeve was that my generous tip was calculated on the bottom line (tax included) and not only on the food subtotal
We will come again, when we will return for the CMU graduation
So delicious! Salmon & Spinach Salad, Smoked Salmon Scramble, French Pancakes. Best breakfast ever. Friendly waitress. Recommend outdoor space.
Love this place. Potent coffee and vegan options. It's always packed, but so worth the visit whenever I'm back in Pittsburgh.
Used there catering services and was blown away. Excellent
Square Cafe is the best place for a great gluten-free breakfast in the area. The staff are very knowledgeable on menu items containing gluten and how the chefs work to avoid cross contamination. My mom and I both have Celiac Disease, and we ve never gotten sick from eating here. They have great options, including awesome gluten-free buckwheat pancakes.
Food was good but place is so crowded I could hardly move my arms without hitting the person next to me
The food was really good, but the service was slow. I think Sarah C was attempting to wait on too many tables at once, perhaps.
A great place for breakfast. Crepes, pancakes, french toast, eggs, bacon: the works. They also make great smoothies and milkshakes if you're feeling indulgent.
Our fav for breakfast! Food great as is the service.
Great atmosphere, feels very homey and their Brussel sprout bowl is the stuff of dreams
Loved the oatmeal bowl! Perfectly executed, and flavors to remember for a long time!
We came on the recommendation of an article on the best corn beef hash in Pittsburgh. GREAT recommendation! I had the crab and portabello bene. DELICIOUS! The chai latte was excellent! My husband had the corned beef hash. He said it was the best he ever had! The hash has large chunks of corned beef. Our full stomachs highly recommend.
Great little restaurant in Regent Square. Plenty of vegan dishes. The Nutella crepes were quite delicious. Staff were friendly. Prices were on par with location and fare.
Food is always great but the Falafel sandwich was way too salty and could use a creamier sauce or something else on it as it just seemed kind of lonely in the pita bread.
Fantastic food! No reservations offered. Expect a long wait on weekends.
Good food but prices are a little high. My friend and I spent 18 dollars for breakfast plus the tip.
Everything is always tasty. Every time. Preparation is consistent, and the coffee is off the rails good.
Downside? It's a little pricey for eggs. I get it. Gotta keep the lights on. But over $10 for my breakfast? I don't do that very often.
I like coming here during the week. Weekends are a brawl. I refuse to stand in line in the rain for eggs. Especially in the winter, with everyone's wet coats? Yuck.
Be different. Go during the week. Sit at the counter. You can even bring some work with you, if you must. I see breakfast out during the week as a total treat, completely worth the money. You can relax.
Baked goods are consistent also, and the art is constantly changing.
Pancakes were delicious, staff was friendly. Would definitely come here again!
I got the brioche french toast with a side of bacon. The bacon was 4 slices for $5; it was good, but definitely not worth the $1.25 per slice. French toast was pretty good.
Breakfast here was so perfect! Good coffee which is always a must have in the mornings for me and the service was so quick and kind! Lots of options to pick from you even if you're a picky eater, you'll be able to find something to eat.
Does not take American Express. Auto gratuity when undeserved. Ok food.
Didn't look at the menu before going here but I was really craving a place that had good brunch food and unique lattes. This is the place! The prices aren't unreasonable at $9-13 a plate. The quality of food is good and the portions are reasonable. I tried the croque madame, which is two over easy eggs cracked on top. I was able to finish it all but felt full. There were a lot of other choices that I wanted to try, like a breakfast chili bowl and a few different kinds of pancakes. We'll have to go back again.
My favorite breakfast place in Pittsburgh. I'm a particular fan of their pancakes.
Pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon but for a good reason. Fast service. Yummy food. Somewhat expensive but nothing too bad. Recommended.
Incredibly overpriced for very mediocre food. Portions were disappointing in both size and quality. Didn't care much for the interaction with the server either. Won't be back...
Tasty, but it seems like you get less than what you pay for
Food was good. They need to get rid of a few tables. It's way too crowded! I felt claustrophobic.
Besides the service and even the cash register person being warm and wonderful on a cold December day, their coffee was the BEST! This is a must visit if your in the area. I was told you can order over the phone too, just in case you need some coffee.
Good service, nice menu, bit more costly breakfast.
Very yummy! But the breakfasts don't exactly come as full meals- you have to pay "a la cart" for sides like bacon or scrambled eggs. This made the price a little high for a morning out, as a side of bacon for me and my boyfriend was 10 dollars....
Location was very cute and although the place is small and super packed on the weekends, the service was wonderful. Great staff!
I love the Square Cafe. Not only as a favorite for breakfast, but a favorite restaurant in general. I love their play with irony -- there is nothing "square" about them. Their menu is creative - as well as outstanding - and changes seasonally. The staff is genuine, fun, and accommodating; of all the strange additions or alterations I've made to my orders, all the times I've ordered two full meals (for myself!), they readily smile and accept my requests. The atmosphere is buzzing as everyone starts their day (and speaking of buzz, their coffee is wonderful!) The artwork, which usually showcases local talent, is constantly circulating and often up for sale, as well. Despite the small space and overflow of customers, the wait is never too long. It always feels just right.... I always feel right at home.
First time being here and it was amazing heather gave me the best experience at this restaurant GIVE HER A RAISE!
Great place to eat the food is really good. The atmosphere will keep you coming back. You can hear the person you are talking to. So you can relax and not feel all rushed like many places today. You know the places I mean yo. So just go order and know the food will be good and the prices what you would expect and relax a bit.
Delicious! Slightly above average pricing and if you sit too far away outside service can be iffy but overall a great experience!
The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean, and the staff is amazing. Plus veggie friendly noms and iced coffee. 10/10 good for hangover recovery
I've been coming here for about 8 years and can say that in that time I've tried most of their items and to date have had only one disappointment. This was immediately corrected and never appeared on the menu again.
The specials are good and rotate frequently.
The prices are a bit higher than I would like, however they come with the caveat that there is less guilt in you meal (local, free range, and responsibly sourced are some of the claims).
I've gone to Square Cafe over the years for breakfast and lunch and I've stopped in for coffee and tea. I have always enjoyed the food, drinks and the atmosphere. It's a great part of Regent Square!
Very nice and pleasant neighborhood cafe. I will want to consider next time we are in the Regent Square area. It is a happening kind of area...and this is a must when visiting!
Great place for brunch, and they have gluten free pancakes! Funky, delicious, and not to be missed.
The Brussels and Grits was recommended by our server and it didn't disappoint. We made it a vegetarian with soy chorizo. Still great. Would make the drive to get that dish. Staff also very friendly and helpful.
Great breakfast, brunch, and lunch options, including for those looking for something on the healthier side. Outdoor, shaded seating when the weather's nice, but they do get crowded so be prepared for a wait. Square Cafe is on the main street of Regent Square, though, so there are some cute shops you can check out while waiting.
Britney does the best job. No waiting time for me when she works. She is friendly n quick. Thank you.
Great food, great staff, yummy vegetarian choices in addition to the meaty stuff.
Great brunch menu; a variety of options some are pretty healthy. I liked the Cabese omelet.
The food is great! They use natural unprocessed food.
White bean bowl and Brussel sprout bowl are my go to. So good!
