I wanted to love this-we have been coming here for 19 years. The positive was that almost everyone we encountered was professional, friendly and helpful. The dar haired girl working in the arcade deserves a medal. We stay in the Galleria and they did some remodeling which was nice but poorly thought out and executed. The negatives- we didn't get our room until 8:15 after checking in at 2pm. Our refrigerator wasn't cold got to about 60 degrees. We had 4 towels for 6 people- took 2 days to get more. Missing several items like trash cans. Beds were rock hard. The mini golf was poorly maintained and closed one night we all walked down there. Programs/activities were minimal (we miss Doc). The biggest negative was the $50/night resort fee (2 bedroom time share) This was a complete rip off considering what they offered for it. The free breakfast was coffee and a tiny breakfast bar. We have a lot of good memories of Split Rock but we won't be going back.

No A/C in the room. It was 79 degrees. Was woken up by people making lots of noise outside at 2.30 am.(2 nights in a row!) Windows were stuck shut but one of the security guys came to open it around midnight. No water to take showers at random times. When we did have water ,it was going from hot to cold without reason... Unfortunately hotel was full for a convention so they couldn't switch my room. I could imagine having a nice time with nice weather, the grounds are nice. Staff was not very apologetic of the situation!
Enjoyed my stay. Staff deserves a 5. Place needs a make over. Was here a few years ago and it was nicer. It deserves 9 out of 10 stars but only 4 out of 5.
1.5hr wait for check in. Nothing offered except an "I'm sorry". Manager and desk seemed like they could careless. Asked for late checkout and was given an hour extra. Received no hotel info at check in. Had to Google main office number to request additional washcloths which took 1.5hrs to receive. Lights blown out on road to building and no lights showing the building numbers. Had to stop on front of each building and put on high beams to see. Bathrooms as big but showers are small. My husband had to duck to get his head wet. Toilet was dirty inside. Hotel has great amenities which is why I gave it 1 star but I was too tired and annoyed to even try them. I will stick to my Marriott properties here on out. Worst experience ever at a hotel and I've stayed at plenty. After experiencing this overnight "test run" stay don't think I will ever comeback for an extended stay.
We became members of this resort in 1991. At that time it had so much to offer. It has now been taken over by another company called Bel-air and so many of the things that we enjoyed have disappeared. Be careful when you decide to go book time there. Be sure you know what you are getting.
If you are reading this please note you absolutely can find a better place to stay. Upon arrival checking in was very quick and staff were nice, after receiving our room keys and told where our building was my partner and I drove to it, went to the room, tried to open the door but our keys did not work. We tried to call the front desk as it was a several minute drive away on the other side of their campus. The front desk phone kept ringing and no one would take our call. We drove back to the main office and they remade our keys and apologized, drove back to the room key still did not work, the phone again did not work and disconnected when we tried to call it. We went back to the desk for the third time which at this point we had missed reservations we d made for the evening. The keys were remade for the third time and a security guard had to escort us to our room and open our door manually with a key. The security guard told us he would personally remake the keys and be right back, after an hour of waiting no one had returned and we left our room to get dinner. We notified the front desk we were leaving for several hours and when we got back if they could please put us in a new room or have the issue resolved so we could enter our room and they said absolutely. Upon returning much later that evening they would not give us a room closer nor had they fixed the locks and we once again had to be escorted to our room and have someone else unlock our room for us and we could not leave the entire night. Upon checking out I explained everything to the man who had been there originally when we first arrived and he apologized and gave us the contact information for guest services. I wrote a very simple email explaining what happened and requesting a partial refund and received a rather short tempered email from someone there. Overall a very disorganized and unaccommodating stay.
Safety risk! I wasn t going to leave a review and I was just going to cut my lost however, others should be aware of safety concerns. I m not upset because Karen, the manager was very understanding and knew that there were issues but they were wayyy beyond her control! Despite being cursed out and yelled at by several guest (not me!), she maintained a very patient and kind disposition! I mean really, the new owners should consider that she s an asset! I m not upset but I am extremely disappointed and should have believed the previous ratings! I know it s pandemic season or whatever but safety issues should not be ignored!
This place is poorly maintained and presents health and safety risk. We cut our stay short because of the risk! The state and county should just close this place until maintenance can be completed and until the buildings are brought up to code or they will end up with some fatalities! Seriously! Fire alarms kept going off in the building. The fire crew kept coming nobody could say when the building was last inspected. Fire crews suggested issues with the building but said we should report it to the front desk as if they had no authority to condemn the building. It looked as if it has lots of potential and was probably a nice spot at some point.
The Ceiling was falling in several spaces, the ONE elevator looks like a death trap and stopped a few times looks like it was last inspected in the 80 s. I refused to even think about getting in the pool which appeared to have no filter system, broken things in the unit, reported several times to no avail. I saw maintenance staff once in the hall and that was when he replaced things in one room. Everything was poorly staffed, pot holes in the lot . There was somethings that looked like a hole where you were supposed to go fishing, closed amenities, outdated amenities, carpets that looked as if they ve never been shampooed .much more! No fire extinguishers in the kitchens! Lots of stuff missing from the units like dishes remotes, no blankets on beds, no blankets, etc!
I will mention that on top of the poor maintenance, they Nickel and dime you for the few activities that they did have on the resort, if you want to call this a resort! Interval International should be ashamed to list this in the dictionary!
On a positive note, the area was very quiet, lots of wildlife and peaceful! Breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was nice a small fee of course! :)
Went on a Saturday in August. The park is small, but plenty of fun. We went with our 7 kids ages 5-11. We got there at 10 and stayed most of the day. They say you can t bring food in, but after spending $300 on admission we brought in our lunch and some adult beverages. Beers were reasonable priced at $4, which considering prices at concerts is $15 this was a deal. Overall, good experience. There isn t a lot to do, but it s small enough to relax while the littles played and you could keep an eye on them.
I do not review anything, but I feel I need to warn people about this. This place is far from being a resort, it is more of a motel IF THAT. It is 100% a scam and you should find literally anywhere else to stay. When we got there our room key wouldn't work and we couldn't contact the main office because their phone doesn't work (they have a phone on their desk but claimed it didn't work and wouldn't give me another number to contact.) So, we had to drive back to the main office 2 more times because the key still wouldn't work. We were late to catch our train because of this and our whole first day was spent dealing with them and the key situation. It took us more than an hour to even get into our room and then security told us to wait and he would bring us a working key. He never came back. I emailed guest experiences afterwards and they basically told me it was MY OWN FAULT for missing my train and that I could've just left if I wanted to... Besides the disorganization, the fireplaces in the rooms do not work, the bath drains itself while you're in it, and it is generally all very old. The website makes it look and sound a lot better than it is.
Great resort to stay at! Have a lot of amenities on premises ie: indoor water park, bowling, skiing! They cater to everyone. Groups, families excet! As I type the water park and bowling is under renovation but was told it should be finished in a few months! Check it out!
