This is an excellent family resort. I stayed in almost every represented room at the resort. The lodge which is the oldest part of the resort rooms are the least favorable but still nice considering other hotels. A strip of Joey rooms connected with noise that travels through the walls from other occupants. That being the worse, the rooms are well updated and very comfortable. The lake view is an amazing site come morning or evening sunsets. The main building has suites which are convenient for access to dining, the waterpark and other amenities but those suites you can tell are older timeshare holder suites. Although clean and well kept the kitchenware seems to be from the 70s or 80s. The Willowbrook, is a set of buildings about 3 blocks walking distance from the main building; if you want the exercise. They have shuttles that run constantly so it's not an issue getting around. The Willowbrook is a set of beautiful spacious 1 bedroom suites. Excellent for the family to spread out and enjoy themselves, equipped with full kitchen, exquisite bathroom and jacuzzi, and living room space. I must admit I bought a timeshare at the Willowbrook and I'm extremely satisfied with it and no they're not paying me to say that. As far as amenities go, the movie theater plays first run movies that just came out, mostly family oriented or superhero. The arcade and bowling alley is great fun. The staff is polite, professional and well spirited. Plenty of things to do indoors during terrible weather and outdoor during great weather besides the attractions in the nearby areas. Hope I was some help

We really like what they've tried to do here. Lots of things to occupy most people, game room with bowling alley, movie theater, indoor pool, bat and restaurant. Facilities are a little dated and worn, but for the most part everything was functional. Our rooms were clean, DVD player didn't work but that wasn't a deal breaker for us. WiFi is spotty depending where your room is, cell phone coverage is ok but slow. We'll probably return, it's a quaint area, a nice get away from the city if your expectations aren't too high.

We booked a one bedroom kitchenette on the resort side. I don t think that room had been updated in the last 30-40 years. We were afraid to flush the toilet it was such a dinosaur. The room functioned as a place to put our things and nothing more. It is a very convenient resort to both Jack Frost and Big Boulder and does have a fair number of onsite (expensive) activities and food options so it s not a total bust.

Very outdated place in need of a renovation. Rather spend the big bucks in Kalahari then spend a night here. First and only stay ever, the only welcoming part was the check in staff, kudos to that.

This resort is ok. It s not an amazing one or poor. The biggest plus is that is in a beautiful area. The scenery that surrounds this place is wonderful. The water park is ok. One can tell it s aging. Not the biggest. That s the one just up the road. It s meant more for a family affair. The kids will love it. There is a lot of excitement in the air. The slides and the water playground are fun. The wave pool is underwhelming. The surfing is hard but fun. The large ceiling windows are a bonus that let in ample sunshine (when the sun is out, Pa is the land the sun forgot). The resort staff was good and helpful. The park is fun for a day or two, more than that it gets boring. I recommend this place for a weekend getaway for family s that have kids from age 7 to teenage: they will have a lot of fun.

The staff was friendly but many of them could not understand English well. Kitchen is well equipped. Suite was nice and comfortable. The facility is old and needs upgrade. Wifi is extremely slow and stopped working frequently. There was fire alarm on both days we stayed and we had to stay out for an hour, which was very annoying. The room key stopped working on the day of check-out and the staff said it was often the case. The pool does not open until 9. There was nobody to manage the pool. Some big kids threw football and the little ones were almost hit. The floor around the pool was very slippery.

Really enjoyed our stay. Wish that during our stay more activities were open and available however it is beginning of the season so I'm sure as summer comes those things are open much more. We stayed in a one bedroom condo in the Willowbrook complex and found it to be exactly what we needed. Extremely clean facilities, comfortable beds, and equipped kitchen. I prefer the water park at Camelbeach however for the purposes of convenience their waterpark was fine. Would recommend.

The rooms at Split Rock were nice. We had a two bedroom suite. They are old fashioned rooms. They were clean, the only problem was the beds were not that comfortable. The resort has a mini water park, a bowling alley, arcade, and a theater. Our plans were outdoors and got rained out so it was really nice that there was all those options right at the resort.

This place is terrible. We payed a good amount of money for this hotel and it s terrible. Few places you can eat with bad food. In the rooms some of the outlets don t work. The TVs are at least 10 years old. One tv is 30 years old not even a flat screen. Terrible quality. Few elevators and they are very slow and close too quickly. If you are planning to stay here I would recommend to go to Kalahari instead of this dump. It may be more money but it is worth it.

Poorly maintained facility. Pool and public hot tub disgustingly dirty. Over crowded with low class ghetto people and no employee enforces the pool or hot tub rules. The water park only has 2 rides and a wave pool...everything else for children who run wild everywhere we ith zero parental oversight.

I m here right now! For me and my family is excellent, super clean and it has everything the other waterparks have. My husband loved it because it has a gym and has a pool with a jacuzzi apart from the waterpark and it is not as expensive as the others.

Wow! We have a 14 month and we're nervous taking her to her first indoor water park. Was immediately impressed with how clean it felt and smelt. Staff very friendly and engaged. Lifeguards were extremely professional and attentive, very impressed. We will definitely be coming back. The kiddo slides we're so much fun.

Even though I didn't swim they charged me $17 to get in to watch my kids swim. Someone's kid threw up outside the wave pool worker stood by it but did nothing to clean it up. Needless to say my son came walking by and stepped in it along with others and still she did nothing to resolve the problem. Ice on the sidewalk right outside the entrance not salted people including myself slipping.

Loved my room. Very clean. Surprisingly, there was a jacuzzi in the bathroom. Full kitchen with dishwasher too. True home away from home. Customer service was spot on. Took away a star due to things being way overpriced and depending upon where you stay you may be far from the main building. That's where the activites are. Outside of the $30 pizza , $4 water and not much in walking distance (they do offer shuttle vans). Not much to complain about here. I'd come back. For sure!

Beautiful lakefront room in secluded area away from hustle and bustle. Breakfast is ok and responsibly priced with nice lake view. However, drinks and food at the lodge were absolutely overpriced and extremely limited. Bartenders very nice but first thing mentioned is the drinking rules. Greet your guests! Dont expect to check in early. No staff at the lodge. No hair dryer or microwave. Outlet in bathroom didnt work. Window lock broke and was wide open. Maintenance took 45 minutes. Hot tub out of service. Lodge is in need of new carpet and updates. Little overpriced and understaffed for what you get. Water park is small but nice. Plenty of lifeguards. I would say overall a nice place to stay but needs a few updates and some refreshing. Overall, I would recommend it and atleast give it a try. Tough times for businesses like this during these times.

Our unit was redone. Very nice waterfall jacuzzi tub and a sauna in the 2 bedroom unit. New TV sets. Many activities are available at Split Rock. I was a little sceptical because of some reviews. Our family is having a great time.

We are here with timeshare and they put us on the 5th floor (which is first floor actually bc you drive around the hotel and up a hill and enter the 5th floor as ground level) in the galleria 5284 was the room. It was HORRIBLE. There were very large groups of people partying in several rooms around us and you could hear EVERYTHING. Then the people above us sounded like a herd of elephants bowling throughout the day and night. I had to call about noise 3 different times over the course of Fri night - Sunday night. The room itself was o.k. It was somewhat dirty, the carpets were gross and everything was a bit beat up. The mattress wasn't very comfy.
Finally the noise got too much to deal with, so I called AGAIN and they asked me if I'd like to move. (why they didn't offer this the first night I called about the noise I don't know) I immediately said YES. We were moved to WILLOWBROOK. It's AMAZING. We love it over here, very quiet, the building is made a lot better quality construction and the rooms are so much nicer! I wish we had been placed over here to begin our vacation, then we wouldn't have had a bad first 2 days.
I guess if you have kids and want to be in the same building as the snack bar, bowling, movie theater and pool then stay at the main hotel. But, if you want to have peace and quiet and a better quality room, stay at Willowbrook. We stayed in building 4 and it's great. I would NEVER stay in the galleria part of the hotel ever again, but I would DEFINITELY stay at Willowbrook again

This place was too small, and the service was terrible. Waited in the line for food for an hour and after waiting in line for so long my 17 year old brother fainted from the heat. Overall terrible place. The lines for the three slides they have is probably upwards to an hour or more and you have to wait to get a tube because they don t have enough for everyone. Save your money on this one and go to some where like great wolf lodge or aquatopia, or even camel beach if you re looking for a one day thing.

The rooms are terrible, it is old and dated, the mattresses are horrible.
There was only 1 washcloth and 1 hand towel and bath towels for 2 people.
The elevator wasn't working, so we had to drive around to the back of the building, that entrance brings to on to the 5th floor. Our room was on the 4th floor BUT the only staircase that takes you to the lower level is at the opposite end of the floor that the entrance brings you to.
So we walked the entire length of the 5th floor (while carrying our bags) to the stairs, down to the 4th floor and then 1/2 way back the length of the 4th floor to our room.
Forget wanting ice ... the ice machine was on the 2nd floor....
Outrageously expensive for such a dump.

Unfortunately we could not afford to stay there, due to our little girls "dogs". We used Yeti sports, lake tour and it was awesome. The resort and people were very nice and friendly.
Attended the annual wine festival and met some really great people and vendors and bought wines/products we never saw at any other winefest. We hope next time that the resort will work with us and give us some sort of price break to stay there. :)
We loved everything about it as far as we could tell and would love to come back summer and near fall again to attend another event or two.

A sign posted outside the lobby for parking that says the following " 5 min check in & check out"

Bought the Groupon buyer beware! I

So far not going well. We arrived at 9:18 pm and we are still in line 10:15 pm. It's our turn to check in.
Average check in is about 20 minutes a person. Had plans to go bowling tonight with the kids. It will not be open.

Not sure about the new management. Stream line the check in process. 3 people working the front desk which is plenty of people.

We thought we give the new management a chance to show us how the resort had improved from all of the negative reviews. This seems to be the easiest of all process to fix.

I will update on the rest of the stay.

Great place to go if your looking for something peaceful. The place is very very spacious. And tons of stuff goin on inside. Has theatre inside and movies are updated. Food is pretty decently good. And the pools are pretty sweet. And has a lake nearby. I gave it 4 stars because even though it has most of what you need. It still doesnt have the wow factor.

I have stayed here a few times over the last few yrs. It's always been clean and a nice experience. The employees are nice and helpful. The furnishings and decor are dated but everything is clean. The appliances are dated but clean as well. The tv's are flat screen which have been upgraded over the last two yrs. They offer a wide array of family activities throughout the day. The food is good as well. If you a looking for the most modern decor and furnishings and that is most important on your list you will be disappointed. However, if you are looking for somewhere to create great memories this is your place.

The kids love this place and I will give it a five overall, based on their perception. If it were just me, I would drop the rating to a four in the same manner I did for Building 6 Willowbrook. There are so many areas in need of upkeep and maintenance. At some point, the resort will need to take the time to make the necessary adjustments and upkeep.
The resort offers a lot. There is the H2o indoor water park which children of all ages love. This is a big draw. There is an arcade and bowling alley along with a movie theater. A hair gallery and mountain massage. There are several pools throughout the resort and resort eateries. The lake has daily tours and various boat rentals, fishing, and swimming. There is a sports complex and a fitness room. (An example of the upkeep issue could clearly be seen here. Weights that were bent and a leaking ceiling) There are daily activities offered, some which can be quite fun. This year seemed a but dull than previous years though. The girls missed not having a dance party in the common lounge this year. Overall a great place and the kids love it but in need of some upkeep.

First time I ve ever felt compelled to write a rev...

First time I ve ever felt compelled to write a review, much less a negative one. Overpriced based on comparable resorts in the area, outdated, and not kept up well. For example, two floors of room keys were deactivated so a security guard had to let everyone in. Got charged for using housekeeping - they knocked and asked if i wanted towels so i got a $5 charge. No water park admission with stay, although neighboring resorts we ve stayed at include the water park. There were no swimsuits or floats available for the kids for the pool (which was included with the stay). The staff was absolutely horrible with two notable exceptions. In theory there is express checkout but the front desk told us we couldn t use it because they would t know if we checked out (I wasn t quite sure what to make of that either). Hotel was completely booked and two individuals were scheduled for the desk on Sunday morning for checkout while an event was held there. Gift shop shelves were bare. Major potholes in the parking lot. Bottom line: this would be an ok place if the rates were comparable to the service, upkeep and amenities. But to be charged the same rate i can get for full service and catering about 15 minutes away for state of the art facilities, friendly staff, and a fun environment, I would recommend going to those places. This would be a good cheap alternative but it s not cheap. The overall feeling was they wanted your money and were annoyed you d expect anything for it.

Had a blast at the beer fest we were there for. However the hotel did not seem to have their act together. We seriously had to go to 4 rooms before they got it right. 1st one smelled like cat pee and had a fan drying it out. The next was not a comparable room that we paid for...3rd time is a charm right? Nope. Room was not cleaned and ready. The fourth room was great. Yes could be worse things in life, but 4 rooms? Get it together split rock!!!

Gorgeous location and fantastic view. The rooms are nice clean and well maintained and the service is solid. There is plenty of things that can be done on property so you never really have to leave, but if you do the area has a lot of beauty to offer. If you love the mountains then stop reading and start driving it's worth it.

I just went to Split Rock Resort for my anniversary it's very clean the people are very nice the service is great there is food they have a grill there they have a place that sells breakfast stuff and they have a couple little shops in there for Novelties and gifts it is more geared towards family they have a indoor heated swimming pool they have water slides for kids it's a whole little Winter Park in the resort they have archery skiing there is a ton of things to do there to keep you busy you don't even have to leave the resort but even around the resort there are Wawa's and Dunkin Donuts it's very very pretty is there and like I said the people are very nice it's a great getaway would I do it again absolutely in a heartbeat. They do these timeshare things there on the property so you can go and get this package deal discounted and listen to a hard shell for a little bit or you can just pay and go which is what I did. Personally I loved it and I believe anybody who would go there would also have a great time highly recommended

Room not ready till after 5pm. Waterpark was NOT included with hotel stay, as it is at other local resorts. Its not a horrible waterpark, but not really worth $38 pp either. I purchased ticket during checkin @430 and the park closed at 6 - what a waste, no hours posted , and why wouldnt they tell me that!!!!
The rooms are old and outdated especially bathrooms. And there are NO elevators, but most rms require stairs to acess.
This place is the quality of a cheap hotel with outdated decor and mold, But this at twice the price it should be for the area. I dont get why?? Because they offer the option of paying for overpriced ammenities???
Im not a fussy person. But I'd say avoid split rock

HORRIBLE!!! If your not gonna spend much time in your room and resort I guess you will be fine. The rooms are very outdated, they smell very bad which we had to buy our own carpet deodorizer because it was so musty. We called for towels and the service never came. And when we came in no new rolls of toilet nor kitchen paper. Everything was half used. No dvd player had to purchase my own which they didn't even know it was missing. On top of all that bring your wallet all the amenities are expensive, why I'm not sure. Will I come back? Probably not.

We did not enjoy our stay hete as much as the rooms were small, smelly and in need of updating. The facilities near the lake are in dire need of updating. The waterpark was very small for our liking and the wave pool had the tiniest waves ever. I would not recommend it.

We stayed here on a recent anniversary trip. While the weather was not perfect we still had an amazing time. There is so much to see and do here at the resort. Absolutely great place, Freindly staff, clean rooms just great environment I m giving this 4 stars .Only because I think it s a bit dated and having Kids coming back from the water park ,pool , skiing , dinner etc...wish we had bracelets that we can just scan n get in our suite vs shuffling to find a room key which I ended up losing 1 because realistically when you re having fun chasing after your kids the last thing you want to worry about is a room key.I do highly recommend this resort though thank you for a great time Split Rock until next time.

I had a family reunion. Booked 28 rooms. When we first arrived (4pm) the rooms were not available which was a little understandable due to regulation and not fully being staffed. 1st problem
Almost half my guests had the same rooms
2nd
One building smelt like complete mold, empty sanitizers, nothing wiped down.
3rd
The fire alarm probably messed up 7 hours of our stay because it kept going off
4th
There were roaches in the rooms, stoves did not work, hot water did not work, AC was not working . Just a complete horror story. It s sad because I own timeshare there. But I will never go back. I sent two emails and have yet to hear from anyone...... I made sure I honored the contract but I can t even get a email back
