My husband and I both recently had our eyes examined at Spektacles in Cardiff. We are first time customers at this facility.
First impression - very friendly staff. I invested nearly $900 for exam and new glasses. I wear progressive lenses. My glasses came back and the correction for the reading and computer is great; however, I am not able to see the television or driving clearly. I called to let the office manager know of disappointment and I'm scheduled to go back for a reevaluation.
I will come back report my final experience with this company. The end result is what will matter in the long run.

Love everyone here! I moved from San Diego to Indiana for my wife's job three years ago. I now work remote from my home in Indiana for a SD based company. I travel back to SD twice a year and during one of the trips I always schedule me eye exam with Dr. K. She's the best! For me to still be getting my eye exams at Spektacles when I live in Indiana says a lot about how much I enjoy everything and everyone at Spektacles. Thank you.
I went in to see Dr. Kim for a contact lens fitting and exam. I called first to verify that they took my insurance and find out what the co-pay would be. I was told that it would be about $20 - $30. When I sat down for my exam, the doctor told me that the contact lens exam and fitting would be $250. I was surprised that the co-pay was that high and asked the doctor about it - she said it was because it was my first contact lens prescription. I paid the fee but when I got home I called my insurance company. They said the co-payment for that service was supposed to be $60 not $250. They looked at my account and said that she had not even added the contact exam to my claim. She had only added the eye exam. The eye exam co-pay was a separate $20 charge. My insurance company contacted the office and spoke to Dr. Kim. Dr. Kim told them that she thought she was only going to receive $60 for the exam and that was why she charged me more than my co-pay! I asked the insurance company if as an in-network provider she was contracted with them to charge me whatever the co-payment was on the covered services and they said yes. The insurance company worked with her office to make sure that I got a refund for the amount that I was charged beyond my co-pay but I will never use this eye doctor again. Her behavior was unethical and unprofessional. I will be contacting the California Optometry Board about this incident.
