Spadina Optometry Review

Excellent customer service, the staff are super friendly. I had my lenses replaced here and it was pretty fast, and I have a small lens cleaning kit. Awesome!

Dr. Hazra was extremely patient and took great care throughout the whole eye examination process. She was thorough and I really felt that she not only made sure my eyes were healthy, but she also double checked to make sure and this is definitely something I find that some optometrists don't often take the time to do. Not to mention, Trang and Moh were also very kind, helpful, and welcoming prior to the appointment and upon arrival. I would highly recommend anyone to visit this optometry above others!

Good place for an eye exam if you want a very thorough look at your eyes (including getting pics taken). I was really happy with the quality of the care here provided by Dr. H and her team. The experience is way better than the one I used to go to back home, appointments are timely, and you feel like nothing is overlooked.

I also got my contact lenses fitted here and to my surprise, they're actually really comfortable after going through a few trial pairs. They do send you the contacts prescription so you are free to order it somewhere. My boxes ended up costing around the same as ordering from ClearlyContacts.

Can't speak to the glasses buying experience though because I didn't end up finding something that fit my face, but they do have a ton of nice styles.

I went to the clinic for an emergency referral, as I had developed a really severe case of shingles that risked affecting my eye (literally overnight. scary stuff!).

Dr. Melville was amazing and able to see me right away! She was caring and genuinely concerned with making sure I got better and had all the needed follow-up care! (Even contacting me after I had gone to my hometown to recover, just to make sure everything was going as planned).

I cannot recommend this place or these staff enough! It also looked like they had a great selection of glasses and I will happily be visiting in the future!

Super friendly doctor and staff, everything was clean, attention was at a sharp scheduled time. The doctor took time to explain everything he was doing, what he was looking for on my exams and more. I would not hesitate to come back here if needed. The consultation is also on the affordable side which makes everything 1000x better. I would leave more stars if I could.

My firt time going to an appointment since the pandemic started and this place was amazing and incredibly safe. Dr. Wilkinson is incredibly thorough and knowledgeable and all of the staff are welcoming and professional. Their prices for an exam are $65 cheaper than the place I was going to and convenient for us downtown dwellers. As someone who has been wearing glasses for almost 25 years (since the age of 4), I can honestly say this establishment is top notch. Happy to have found my new eye doc.

Came in to get my eyes checked as I ve read good reviews about this optometry and I certainly was not disappointed! This place is great!

From the moment I walked in I was greeted by Moh who showed me to the testing room where he explained every test that was going to be conducted. From there I went into the routine eye exam with Dr. Hazra where she was friendly, thorough with the exams and quick with the diagnosis. I received my prescription in no time.
As my eyes needed to be dilated for the exam, they were indeed sensitive to light. The team was already on hand to provide me with temporary eye protection shades when I left.

I was impressed with how painfully easy it was to get an appointment and get my prescription and any necessary documentation for insurance purposes. As they set you up with a customer account online, I can go into the portal and order my contacts! Note: they are not currently set up with direct billing.

I have found my go to place for my yearly eye examinations.

I came here over a year ago and I remember my visit clearly. A young lady helped me and she waved my concerns over as if they were nothing. Wasn't really patient to answer my questions and just said things were "normal". I went to Yorkdale Optometry and they made me realize how poor the service at Spadina was.
I was given so much help and concern, he said that my prescription for my right eye was actually too strong, which was the prescription I received from HERE. That is why I experienced blurry vision.
I asked why I had sensitivity to light, and was told usually lens wearers can experience that while the lady just sounded annoyed.
Anyways, I won't be coming back here.

Had a full eye exam done by Dr Ema Hazra, she was wonderful and explained everything very clearly! I will happily be coming back for my annual eye exams every year. Thank you Dr Hazra & Moh for a great first appointment

Good COVID protocols in place. Dr. Hazra and her team are very friendly, efficient and addressed my concerns. She asked lots of questions and overall the most thorough exam to date. I am usually very nervous getting tests but they use technology that was not invasive and the explanation of the processes and technology was very thorough. The booking process to follow-up was all electronic and very easy to complete.

Really great experience for my first ever eye exam. The staff were AMAZING. The doctor was very knowledgeable, really friendly, and very efficient. All the other staff were super helpful, so nice, and even helped me pick out a pair of glasses (which is a lot harder than I thought it would be!!)

They charge double of every other place I've been for eye exams. (149$) I usually pay 75$.

Went to Dr. Heaney based on a friend s glowing recommendation and I wasn t disappointed.
Both her and her assistant Trang were so helpful, patient and professional with me. They took the time to answer all my questions that helped me to make the correct decisions on my glasses.
They have all the latest equipment, being a gadget guy and a photographer I noticed the level of technology they used to give me highly detailed information on my eyes.
The turn around time on getting my glasses was fantastic too.
Again, highly, highly recommended!

Great experience at Spadina Optometry first time there. Dr Ema Hazra and her assistant are super nice. I did my full eye exam yesterday and over years I ve seen several optometrists and so far they re best, they answered all my silly questions that I have concerned about my eye conditions lately. Sooner I m planning to go back and get my new glasses. Hope to find nice frame that I like.

Polite staff and great optometrist:-). My glasses only took a few days super fast services. After service fitting the lady was so helpful in adjusting the fit. She was very obliging.

Best service I've ever experienced when it comes to optometry. Dr. Heeney takes her time to get to the bottom of things and make sure your eyes are safe! Definitely recommending to all of my friends.

I had my first eye exam in three years at Spadina Optometry in Feb 2019 and the staff and doctor there were very friendly. However, a recent purchase here has made me reconsider looking at another place for eye exams/glasses. I purchased a pair of $850 Tom Ford sunglasses with prescription and no one ever followed through with the order until I called a second time in ONE month to ask if they were ready to be picked up. No one ever called me for an update until I followed up myself. To my surprise, when I went to pick them up, my $850 frames were THE ONES FROM THE DISPLAY (there were scratches, fingerprints, you could tell it was NOT BRAND NEW). When I looked at the rack of TF sunglasses, the model I purchased was not there anymore so I asked the rep there (Anthony) if they ve given me the display one or if they ve purchased a brand new frame for me. He could not answer the question and said he s not sure. I m very upset with this purchase and did not expect this type of service from a store that charges premium costs for their glasses, I expected better. The rep said he ll give me a call back when they have a new frame in order but my hopes are not high. This will be my last time making any purchases.

EDIT: my issue with this store has been settled and the store manager has issued a full refund (however, this was given to me upon request, the store manager never offered it). My ratings have not change, I would still give them a one-star.

Very comprehensive eye exam. Like that it s equipped with proper tools.
Not all places have the equipment.
Hence the price difference.

I've been to a TON of optometrists over the years and Spadina Optometry was by far the best. Caitlin was so helpful and friendly (and hilarious!). And Dr. Ema Hazra was fantastic. Couldn't have been happier with my experience!

This place is great. I was seen right on time for my appointment. And both the assistant and Dr. Heeney were fantastic. They were very personable, knowledgeable, professional and most importantly - genuine. I am a brand new client and I felt right at home. Also they're dog friendly!

Loved the service here. Dr. Heeney is very knowledgeable and the examination is very thorough. Before I come here, my friend told me that this place is slightly pricier. And it is, but justified.

Man this place is the best! Super friendly staff, make you feel very well taken care of. They keep the place super clean, hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes everywhere. Dr. Wilkinson is incredibly friendly, professional and thorough. He took the time to explain exactly what he was doing and how my prescription changed since I was last in. They email you the prescription on your way out, too. Honestly just a great experience, if you live downtown and need your eyes checked this is the spot.

Very impressed with this shop/clinic. Received excellent customer service from Steven. He was thorough and caring and kept me updated with text messages when the frames were done so I could walk around and explore the neighborhood. 100% would come again and recommend to anyone.

Service here is great but it is extremely pricey. Convenient location if you have the money. That being said they were very thorough in checking out my complete ocular health. It took a long time but the optometrist explained everything he was doing and was patient and very kind. The ladies at the front are super nice. Abby made me feel very comfortable and added to the experience.

Outstanding customer service. I came in having broken my glasses the day before; Caitlin (the "Super-Tech") went above and beyond to help me pick out a new pair of frames, waived the cost of my new lenses since I'd just had them replaced in my broken frames, and put my order on rush so I could get my vision back ASAP. The optometrist I saw previously was also excellent and meticulous. They've won a long-term client in me.

The staff in the front were extremely helpful in assisting me in choosing new glasses. AND my new glasses came in in record time - just all around wonderful place.

Long story short - the team is amazing.
I had to order new glasses during COVID because mine broke. So, they sent me the same frames and lens that I ordered last time.
The issue was they kept falling off my face because I couldn't go in to get them adjusted (this is when everything was locked down). So, Steve set up a video call, and ran me through how to use a blow drier to heat them and adjust them so they fit properly.
Talk about a team that figures things out on the fly to keep customers happy.

Lovely staff. Caitlin moved me through my checkup swiftly and with a smile, and Dr. Heeney is terrific very friendly and seems to really know her stuff.

My family has been visiting Dr. Heeney's practice for nearly a decade, and for good reason. She and her staff are not solely professional, but also very friendly; she was kind enough to let an appointment that should've been twenty or so minutes run much longer, listening to my grandmother's concerns, making small talk, and reassuring her so completely that my grandmother's no longer worried about her eyes at all, despite having encountered some unpleasant issues over the course of the last few months. Her staff members were also friendly and helpful, going as far as helping my grandmother out the door. And I bought a great new pair of frames!

Eye exam was fine but the prescription isn't complete enough to actually go buy glasses or contacts. For glasses, you also need the Pupillary Distance (PD) which isn't provided with the prescription, and for contacts you need Base Curve (BC) and Diameter (DIA), which aren't provided either. I suppose they want to keep the information back so that you buy from them. If the prescription was complete they would get 5 stars, but now I've got to see another optometrist for the rest of the information even though I've just paid for one.

Love this optometrist office - efficient, professional, organised. Wilkinson is amazing and the service was top notch! The team noticed I'd lost a contact lens from my last 2 cases and replaced it so I had even sets. It's small details like this that will definitely make me recommend this place to everyone and keep me coming back!

I have been seeing the doctors here for years. My daughter has a chronic eye condition that they spotted and they monitor her closely year after year. With my eye genetics and the issues around eyes and ageing, there is no better place to find the friendliest, most professional, and competent eye care. From the minute you walk in, you feel taken care of. I love the people and know I am in great hands.

I came here based on positive web reviews 2 years ago and I can see why! Professional, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Dr Heeney helped me transition to a new type of contact lenses (Duette) and was very thorough and helpful throughout the whole process! I've been for checkups with Dr Mann and Dr Melville and have had great experiences with them too. Definitely my go-to optometry!

Best eye doctor I've ever had. Professional, friendly, expert.

Demanded to see my prescription. Wouldn t let me buy contacts because I had a prescription for glasses.

I came here last November to get a new pair of glasses. I ordered frame and lens. After one week or so, I received my new glasses. But the frame was very loose. I had no problem when I first tried the frame in the shop. The receptionist explained that it was because of the winter. Then she used some glass beads to warm up the temples and bended them. 1 day later, the frame became loose again. I went to the shop and they did the same thing to my glasses. But it became loose again the next day. I went to the shop again and asked to get a same frame of smaller size. The receptionist told me that the new frame and lens would be arrived within 2 weeks. 2 week later, I got an email that informed me that the company had the new frame on back order and they would inform me once they arrived. That was another 3 weeks of waiting time for the new frame and lens. I went to the shop the last time. The receptionist asked me if I wanted to change my frame. I tried some on and decided to get the same frame of smaller size. The frame fitted perfectly. After the lens were put into the new frame, the new frame became loose again. The receptionist used a machine to bend the front piece which changed the shape of the frame as a result. I was angry and the receptionist asked me why I did not change to a new style of frame when I had the choice.

That's almost a one and half months of process to get a useless pair of glasses. I have to get a new pair somewhere else and I don't know what to do with this 500-dollar pair of glasses that I got from Spadina Optometry.

Update: The owner gave me a full refund.

This is the BEST optometry clinic. I have been a patient of Spadina Optometry for many years, they always take amazing care of their patients and all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Great experience. Lovely staff and great doctor. Everyone took the time to thoroughly explain each step of the eye exam. Doctor went over results with great detail. Took even more time to look into a persistent eye issue and identified the cause. Very happy with the services. Looking forward to my swanky new frames :)

The doctors and staff at Spadina Optometry display a relaxed competence that should assure anyone that they are putting something as precious as their vision in the hands of true professionals. I travel a distance to see them. I would travel even further if I had to. Most highly recommended.

Dr Heeney and her team knows how to do customers service amazingly well. From the time i stepped through the door I was greeted by Anthony who navigated me through the various examinations and pictures on the Optus machine. When I went into to see Dr Heeney she took her time to explain the results of all the examinations and listened to my questions about the course of action I should take, reading glasses or progressives.
