DO NOT EVEN WANT TO GIVE WHAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE A N...

DO NOT EVEN WANT TO GIVE WHAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE A NURSING FACILITY ANY STAR. THE STAR IS YOUR LOVED ONE!!!! THE SECOND IS WHERE MY LOVED ONE RESIDES BY CHOICE OF THEIR IMMEDIATE FAMILY. THE NORO VIRUS WHICH IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS WAS EXPOSED FROM ONE PATIENT TO ANOTHER AS THE NURSE AND AIDES DID NOT WEAR ANY MASK. WHEN THE LUNCH TRAY WAS BROUGHT INTO THE ROOM, I FED MY LOVED ONE. THE LADY SHARING THE SAME ROOM WSA FED 2 (TWO) SMALL SPPONFULS OF HER ICE CREAM. THE LID TO HER MEAL WAS NOT EVEN TAKEN OFF FOR THE PATIENT TO SEE HER FOOD AND BE OFFERED ANY. THE AIDE CLOSED THE CURTAIN BUT FAILED TO REALIZE THERE IS A MIRROR IN THE ROOM PLUS VISITORS WHO OBSERVED SUCH APPALLING CARE. MY LOVED ONE WAS EXTREMELY THIRSTY AND GRATEFUL FOR THE WATER AND EXTRA MILK REQUESTED AND RETREIVED BY ME. UPON LEAVING THE DIRTY ROOM - THERE WAS A GROUP OF YOUNG BOYS (AGES 9-13 APPROXIMATELY) HANDING OUT DONUTS WITHOUT CHECKING WHETHER OR NOT ANYONE WAS DIABETIC. I WAS THERE WITH 2 OTHER PEOPLE. THE ONE USED THE PURRELL HAND SANITIZER ON THE MEDICINE CART IN FRONT OF THE NURSES STATION I SAID THAT IS NOT FOR YOUR USE AND THE NURSES CORRECTED ME AND SAID IT IS "OK". IT IS NOT OK, AS THEY ARE GETTING THE MEDICATION FOR YOUR LOVED ONE AND THERE IS A NORO EPIDEMIC. I COULD WRITE A BOOK ABOUT THE WRONG DOINGS I HAVE SEEN IN MY TIME THERE. IF YOU ARE LLOKING TO PLACE YOUR LOVED ONE IN A FACILITY - THE KEY WORD HERE IS CONTINUE LOOKING AS THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO PUT THE ONE WHO HAS CARED FOR YOU. IF YOU ARE TIRED AND BURNED OUT, DO NOT LET THIS PLACE BE THE ANSWER. YOUR LOVED ONE DESERVES BETTER. I CARED FOR MY PARENTS FOR OVER 14 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN IN/OUT OF PLACES FOR REHAB DUE TO BRAIN STEM STROKE AND RIGHT OCCIPITAL LOBE. I KNOW MEDICAL AND I KNOW QUALITY. THIS IS NOT QUALITY. IF YOU PUT YOUR LOVED ONE THERE, GO AHEAD AND CONTACT GEORGE KALAS FUNERAL HOME AS YOU WILL REQUIRE THEIR SERVICES IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. I COULD NOT SLEEP AT NIGHT IF I WERE YOU. PLEASE SEEK ELSEWHERE. YOUR FAMILY MEMBER DESERVES QUALITY CARE AND DIGNITY AND A PROFESSIONAL STAFF THAT TAKES THEIR JOB SERIOUS AND FOLLOWS THE BASIC PROTOCOL FOR NURSING HOMES. THE PLACE IS DIRTY AND UNDERSTAFFED AND YOUR LOVED ONE SITS IN A WET DIAPER AS THEY WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM OTHER THAN MEDICATE AND WATCH THEM FADE AWAY.

I don't know why anyone would give this Rehabilitation Center anything less than five stars. I stayed here twice during my Rehabilitation after complete knee replacements from Dr. Paul King (BTW AN EXCELLENT PHYSICIAN). I was immediately welcomed by the head of Nursing Celeste he was fabulous and so helpful I really appreciate that man. Shortly after my arrival The administrative staff the fabulous Randi, Miss Beth and one Crafty and talented lady Mary. These women are definitely a Top Notch and classy group of who made me feel welcomed from the moment I crossed the threshold of the facility. It doesn't stop there they constantly checked to make sure that I was okay. Whatever questions you need answered they do their best to see if they can help. From cleaning staff to the kitchen staff, they aim to please.

The PT folks are awesome at thier job. Dont be surprsed. They are all Caring attentive professionals every one of them. Yasmeen, Brian, Mike, Victoria and Ashley are sincerely some of the most conscience and not to mention some of my favorite people. I miss they're smiling faces starting my day and the encouragement you get is constant. I left that facility with a good basis to continue my physical therapy on my own and I felt confident that I would succeed and progress after leaving there. Because of what they had taught me. Thank you.

The nursing assistants Nicole and Peaches, and my sweet nurse Kelly were just the best. Over all it was positive experience.

I wish I could give SPA CREEK REHAB CENTER 10 STARS!!!!!!

What a nightmare of an experience! My heart is still so sad that my dear mother ( sweetest lady and RN of 30 years) had to suffer at Spa Creek because of a lack of care. She got sick and was left for dead because there are 19 patients to one nurse!

After only a short, 5 day stay at Genesis Spa Creek, my brother nearly died from sepsis. He was improperly cleansed and developed a UTI, has a terrible and, of course, uncomfortable rash is his groin area to the point of having small blisters. He is a diabetic and was dehydrated when admitted to the ER. They did not keep his 8 ounce cup of water filled throughout the day. His blood sugar was usually between 350 - 500. He was on a medication where he soiled himself. They never rinsed out his dirty clothes when we came to get them for laundering. Even though the staff, nurses and techs were friendly and courteous, they didn't provide the level of skilled care one would expect in this setting.

As a professional in the area I refer to Genesis Spa Creek on a regular basis. I have always been pleased with the personal assistance my residents have received. The residents who have gone for rehabilitation have been well cared for and the therapy has had positive results. Very professional staff. I appreciate everything they do every day!!

Was here post hip surgery November 2017. Biggest complaint: Dirty. PT was OK, other than that the furniture was old/chipped, beds uncomfortable, it was loud, even at night, staff was hit or miss. I had one good nurse, the others were indifferent, aides were either indifferent or patronizing, response times to call button not good, food really bad. Nothing like the great experience I had when I put my dad in Lorien @ Mt. Airy - it was clean , comfortable and the staff (admin/nursing/PT/aides) were all excellent.

I've been in the homecare industry for 10 years and have had several families that have been happy with their experience at Spa Creek Center. I always hear wonderful things about their PT/OT as well as the professionalism of Courtney & Beth in Social Work.

My mother supposedly checked in this afternoon and I called and no one ever answered the phone at 8:30 pm! When I dropped off some belongings for my mother earlier this afternoon, the receptionist was extremely rude and unpleasant to deal with! My mother has stayed here twice before and was very happy but Genesis Healthcare was not managing this location then. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, I can't visit my mother, so I am extremely unhappy and disatisfied at this point. I have contacted the CEO and President of Genesis Healthcare today and made him aware of my first day experience with this location.

I would have selected NO STAR if I could've, but you had to check one to activate the review.....I read the reviews and we took a chance with my father-in law being placed there for rehab to get him on his feet again, so he could go home and live for himself the way he was before he had a sprained ankle.
Parking is limited during the day and weekdays because of all the employees, but plenty of space at nights and on the weekends.
The PT personnel, Raven & Sophia, we're fantastic, but the good things to say about this place end there. The nurses were rude, had no time for questions or concerns, and please don't ask a nurse that's not assigned to your loved one a question or for something like a bed pan because they act like they would rather slap you than help you.
And why a bed pan? Well when they give an immobile patient a stool softener because they are constipated, you may want to be forewarned they will have a B.M. without delay, so don't get p.o'd when they have one in their bed because a nurse didn't answer the buzzer for a half-hour and you now have a clean-up. As far as that, if the patient doesn't have someone there at the time visiting and on the staff to do the clean-up, they lay in excrement for an hour or more, then they get chapped like a baby who is left lying in a filthy diaper.
When my father-in law appeared out of it and in need of real hospital medical care, and my sister-in law demanded an ambulance be called at 8 PM one night, the night nurse told her if he was fine, but if she wanted an ambulance to call one herself. When she did and the ambulance from Annapolis Fire showed up, they were just as ride to them, to the point my sister-in-law had to go out to the nurse's station herself and direct them to his room for transport to Anne Arundel Medical Center where great and fantastic care was provided by wonderful and professional people.
Once at the hospital my wife and sister-in-law were told by a real qualified doctor, "You did the right thing bringing him here. Your dad's suffering from edema (build up of fluid, in particular around the heart), and his heart was struggling to work". This answered the question earlier at Spa Creek from family of, "Why is my dad always sleeping?", and their answer was, "That's his bodies way of resting". NO ITS NOT!!! That's his bodies way of dying!!!!!
When he gets released from AAMC, he WILL NOT be going back to Spa Creek. Just wished we could have Raven & Sophia come to the new place and continue the fine PT work they were doing.
Do not let your loved one go to this place if they are a loved one!!!

During these last five months since our loved one ...

During these last five months since our loved one has been a resident at Genesis Spa Creek - we as a family have been most pleased with the care given. She has adjusted very well at the facility and has made many, many new friends. The staff, caregivers and the administration treat her and actually look upon her as an extended member of the family ... and we are most appreciative. There are a couple of staff members that she affectionately calls her "ADOPTED CHILDREN" .. and they affectionately call her, "MOMMA". Our loved one became very ill at the first part of the year in January. After being released from the hospital she was admitted to Genesis Spa Creek for therapy - but it turned out that she needed around the clock care that our family just could not adequately provide. It was a hard decision to make - but it has turned out all for the very best. Our loved one has a glow about her and she is very content with her surroundings. This pandemic crisis has been very stressful to so many people and families ... but most especially stressful to the staff and administration. They have been carrying a heavy cross for so long; but in the midst of the anxiety and tension ... my faith has not been shaken and my trust in Genesis Spa Creek has NOT diminished. I often think ... what if our loved one had taken ill AFTER the pandemic broke out. What would we have done?!?! God has a way of fixing things before we know that they are even broken . Everyone at the center are on top of things during these uncertain and unprecedented days of confusion. The residents, administration, staff and caregivers of Genesis Spa Creek are in our family prayers EVERY day ... and we are more than blessed and grateful for what they do and what they have done for us.

My husband is coming home today and he was happy there. Communication is a little difficult, but other than that he liked the food, the therapist were very good. The nurses were attentive. The best were Mary and Wendy. He was kept clean. His sugars improved a lot. Overall very happy, just be patient when trying to get a hold of someone at the office. They are working on your concerns altough they don't return your call immediately. Thank you everyone.

I had to make the difficult decision to place my mom in long term care. The staff at Spa Creek have been so helpful and thoughtful helping us work through this process. They have been taking excellent care of her while keeping her safe through the pandemic.

My father was admitted there yesterday. I called then and the person answering the phone was unable to connect me to his room or even let me know if he was there. I called back today and the person answering the phone said he wasn't there. She asked me if he had been there. I told her i thought that he had been. She said that if he had been there he was no longer there. Fortunately, I managed to get ahold of him via a cell phone. I asked him where he was and he told me Spa Creek Center. When I called them back and cofronted them they managed to actually find his name and connect me. AWEFUL MANAGEMENT SO FAR!

My mother was transferred to this center after a procedure that paralyzed half of her vocal cord. She received zero medication for 36 hours, despite requesting and reminding the staff frequently. When I called, they told me they "just gave her medication," but then I received a text 30 minutes later from my mother stating she got meds AFTER I called. Their definition of truth and care are grossly different from ours. Avoid this place at all costs.

The staff at Genesis Spa Creek are professional, caring and compassionate. The entire staff make you feel at home with friendly, positive attitudes. Spa Creek is kept very clean and Covid precautions are adhered to making one feel safe in these uncertain times. I d broken my hip and was in for rehab. With their kind, patient help, I regained my independence. From Admin, social services, Activities, Nursing, cleaning, OT & PT- all are top notch! Even with all the Covid restrictions, they made it feel like home. I would definitely recommend.

Awful! Poorly run. Poorly organized. Management doesn't care. No consistancy. Poor lines of communication. I went in to address my concerns with the Administrator Leanna Lennox and Guest Services rep Randy. Both gave me weak excuses as to why fundamental issues (last time patient ate and how much, last time to the bathroom, last time received medication, last bathed, nurse responsible, etc.) couldn't be readily posted or available. Told me I could go ask the nurse for that information. We tried. Each time we were told, "I don't know. My shift just started." That's if you can find the caretaker. A few good people trying to do their best, but management know how to run this operation. Ask some of the resident's familys before admitting anyone here. Make sure you have a family advocate closely monitoring your family member's care if you decide to come here despite this warning.
