Never-ending zoo! So many different animals to see. Very active. By far the best. Would definately come back again. Bonus: Triple A discount on tickets.
We loved it. Peaceful, clean, fun.. my toddler was overjoyed by the animals
Awsome day! They are doing a great job with everything during this crazy time. Everyone was friendly and making sure everyone was safe and having a good time with the animals.
Best to pay the extra money to ride most of the rides. Get there early. The zoo is HUGE!
Easily give this zoo 5 stars! We went today with the kids and hadshad much fun. Very stroller accessible. Lots of animals to see, we rode the zip line which was fun my daughter loved it! The place was spotless as well. Very impressed given all the new restrictions. Highly recommend
Great day out with the family. Friendly & helpful staff the whole zoo is clean. You could walk the whole zoo in a couple of hours. Buy you tickets online to avoid the ticket lines. Also discount if you have a AAA membership, just show your card.
I LOVE SEE THE WONDERFUL GORGEOUS ANIMALS SPECIALLY THE LIONS AND TIGERS..GREAT FOOD AND VERY PEACEFUL.RELAXING.
Excellent
Great job on social distancing
Great zoo
Food at the deli was very good
Always a good time. Great zoo with a wide variety of animals.
Cute little Zoo for the kids, good variety of animals. Loved the area were the deer are allowed to roam free. Make sure to bring quarters for the food dispensers. Gift shop has lots of stuffed animals.
Admittedly, zoos challenge my ethical belief in animal rights. We should focus on habitat preservation instead of bringing disparate species to our climate and placing them on display.
That being said, the animals at Southwick's seem well treated at least. I was a chaperone for my daughter's first grade field trip. The children had an enjoyable day.
The best part of the zoo is the Deer Park. You can actually walk amongst the deer in a wooded environment. Bring quarters to buy treats for the deer.
Loved walking around seeing the animals but a lot of them were too far away to really see them so that was disappointing...
Best zoo I've ever been to hands down, the deer enclosure (no extra cost besides for corn to feed them) was over the top, the camel ride was great and the trainers and keepers all seemed to really love the animals they were dealing with, and it showed with the animals, they were seemingly very happy and energetic, every enclosure had a fresh plate of food and nothing looked depressed like in zoos I've been to in the past. We'll never go to another zoo in MA this is the bees knees.
Wasn't bad. Some bird enclosures seemed small, then a turtle area seemed overly big. Grounds well kept, ample parking. Staff seemed bored. Especially girl at entrance. Didn't even offer a map. Don't think we will be back.
It was so much fun for the kids. It was good time and will come back and recommend to everyone.
Very nice zoo! I've been coming to Southwick for a few years and they are one of the best. If you can get passed all the hills and large crowds, you'll have a great time. The staff is friendly and the food at Gallifords was amazing! I'll definitely be back again.
Best zoo in the area. Great variety of animals and lots of fun things to do as well!
Great Zoo!! The playground is pretty awesome by itself. Lots for my little guy to do when we take him. Food and drink places are scarce inside on off peak times.
Beautiful environment, friendly staff, tons of shade, and animals that appear to be happy and well taken care of.
The employee at the turtle exhibit (the first exhibit we looked at) seemed to really enjoy his job a lot. After telling us a bunch of turtle facts, he asked me if it was my first time there. It was my second, with the last time I was there being years earlier. He went into great detail about all the different expansions the zoo went through since my last visit. He was a pleasant man.
I loved the chairlift ride because it managed to provide a nice view of the zoo and its exhibits without being too high, which is nice for someone like me with intense acrophobia (and plus it was a nice break from all the walking).
By far my favorite part was the deer forest. I own a Great Dane dog, and I find it adorable how the deer act, look, and feel pretty much identical to Great Danes (the mooching, the love for being pet, pushing themselves into me once they realize I'm carrying food... it's ALL there, haha).
We were there for about 4 hours, and it went by quick. We'll be returning for sure. A perfect 5 out of 5 from me.
While dining at Galliford s, I experienced superb service and food, prepared by the hands of David F. Not only did he make my dining experience enjoyable, he made it the best experience of my life at a restaurant and tavern. Not only is he flinging pizzas, but stealing hearts while doing so.
I loved this place...it's a really nice place to go and spend with your kids...the deer forest trail is amazing...and I loved how healthy and alert their animals looked. Had a really wonderful experience. I highly recommend it.
I love Southwicks. Been going there since I was a kid. To those who think its too pricey ... consider for example what it costs to keep a family of giraffes alive and well in Mendon Massachusetts not to mention the other animals. Your ticket and food prices helps pay for their well being and upkeep.
Wow this place is definitely made for kids of all ages (including adults). You can spend all weekend here...now I see why membership might be necessary. You can't do it all in one day or even two...the kids have so much to see and do and plenty of rest areas and space for kids to run around. Conveniently located with Golden Gate park so perfect for a family adventure. My boys (4 yrs and 2yrs) liked the rainforest (until it got too hot for them) and the Earthquake simulator. Bring your lunch if you like, lots of tables and eating areas for the family (food is kind of expensive...$12 for a cheeseburger).
Amazing!!! I love this zoo and my grandkids had an amazing time. Can't wait to go back
Southwick Zoo is so worth the travel time to visit with all family members. The employees are very courteous and the zoo is clean.
I always come here for my birthday. Great zoo. Staff is always nice. Super clean. Habitats are always clean and the animals look healthy!
The biggest local zoo in its area with so much to see and do. A good variety of animals to view with some interactive displays. The zoo is kept clean with plenty of open spaces. Lots of walking but great fun and exercise. There's a train that rides around and a ride much like a ski lift that gives you an excellent view of the animals, people and acres of land. I highly recommend this particular zoo!
Great place to bring children. Price to enter is a little high.
It was a pretty decent zoo. I do believe the cost was a bit high, but I don't mind quite as much since it is going to the care and upkeep of the animals. Was able to walk through the whole zoo in about 2 hrs so not overly large, and had a decent selection of animals to look at. The enclosures were better than merely fenced in yards, which I appreciated. While not quite up to par with the Columbus Ohio or Cincinnati, Ohio zoo, I felt this zoo was pretty good.
Great little zoo setup. Deer encounters, small rides, plenty of animals to see, and a surprisingly accommodating gastropub style restaurant.
Wish I had visited there more often!! kids loved it!!
The restaurant is awesome. Some of the cages are too small for the animals. It's very busy, but manageable.
Burgers were very good. Service was good. Calamari app was fair a little spongey. Mixed drinks are high priced. We'll go back when the zoo opens. A little behind Willowbrook in overall sat level
Nice car ride throughout the Zoo with plenty of animals and wildlife!! The visit lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes!!
The absolute best zoo ever! I've been bringing my kids here for over 10 years now and we have a blast every time. Simply the best family friendly place anywhere around! I don't know of another place that gets you close up to the animals.
Incredibly over priced for what they offer.
Uneven dirt paths that make pushing a stroller almost impossible. Rides, maze, and train all cost extra. Lots of animals were "away" for habitat cleaning with no mention of this on the website. For spending well over $100 for a family of 3 it was a major let down
The hands-down best zoo in the region. Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, everything but the kitchen sink. The Deer Forest is an amazing experience as you immerse yourself in a forest environment with dozens of deer. Some are a bit skiddish, though many will come up and eat corn from your hand. The layout isn't too complicated, there are acres to explore, a nice skylift to give you a view of the park from above, and numerous food kiosks to stay full throughout the day.
Staff was very accommodating... expensive but a nice family memory...
I went on a class field trip for a summer counselor job. It was a beautiful zoo with alot of great things to do. I did not get to see everything considering that I had to watch my group. Still a great spot to go!
We had a great time and they have a great variety of animals.
An unbelievable time at the Winter Wonderland !!! The Brewer family continues to improve the zoo like they have over the past 38 years !!! Just an amazing place !!!
Great zoo! Clean, lots of shade, and great variety of animals.
Is a fun time with kids. Many of the animals were "hiding" so was kind of a bummer and some of the exhibits needed extra lifting of 3 and 4 year olds so they can see into them. If that's ok with you then this is a great place to bring kids. It seems like this zoo is doing a great job to give the animals their needed space in their respective habitats (so you may need a pair of binoculars).
Was good for the kids. The prices were a little high. Cost me 30$ for each of my 3 year olds to get in. We have 4 kids, and again 2 of them being twin 3 year olds. So I think they really need to have some better prices for small children.
Had lots of fun! Would go again. Not too many animals though, but being able to interact and feed some animals was cool.
It is a nice place to go with ur family. Have a good number of species and overall layout of the zoo is very interesting and will intrigue u to discover more. Have decent amount of rides and eating options. There is one downside though. Its very expensive for a zoo. U can easily cross 70 dollars mark per person if u go with some rides.
Great zoo, much bigger than expected and a lot of animals you would normally only see at a larger zoo. Clean and friendly staff. Plenty of parking, easy to get in and out of, but I'd prefer if admission prices were a little lower. I've been about 4 times now and will go back again plenty more!
We visited southwick zoo this weekend with my grandson who is 4 and had a great time. The animals were great! The bird show very impressive and interesting. The new rides were very nice. The kids amusement rides were very old and could use a fresher upper. The admission prices were fine but then you had to pay extra for other things like $7 for camel ride $7 for pony ride $5 for maze $7 train ride. Really adds up and of course kids want to do it all. The new restaurant was beautiful and the food was good and well priced. We will definitely go back. A highlight was the deer forest and the petting zoo.
Great setup, lovely animals, and a great staff! 100% recommended!
It definitely was an amazing experience with the kids
An incredible zoo in the middle of the woods, great eat in restaurant
Not bad , wish they had water fountains ... No discounts on ebt card ....
Just love it ! Never been to the zoo or any nature park etc. where you can see animals happy and comfy ! Excellent experience , v. Good VIBE from beginnings to the and ! Very clean and professionally run , I have a right to say that because I grow up on the big farm in Poland and I know when animals r happy and relaxed !
Keep doing great job , I become fan right the way and will recommend this place to everyone I know !!! Will also support this place anyway I can !!!
We're animal lovers and we were able to interact with several kinds of animals.
Great zoo to bring the family. Kiddie rides and bird show. Feed the deer!
Great family zoo with lots to do and see! Zipline, ski chair lift, deer feeding park, maze!
You will have the best family outing. At Southwick Zoo!
Have had my daughters birthday party here. One of the best days we have had! The animals look will kept and the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. We Have been there numerous times. Never have been disappointed. I think it is a great zoo for young children since it is small and personable.
We did the zoofari and it was awesome you get to stay in your car and drive through the zoo. the zoo people try to make so all the animals can be seen
So much fun!!!! This place is amazing I go several times a year!
Awesome expierence. Worth the money, we saw animals we would've otherwise never seen. Obviously more aimed towards kids but my wife and I (26) had a blast. The zoo-it-all pass was worth it, it includes the train ride across 50 acres of land and a skyline ride (like a ski-chair-lift) for only like $4 extra. The food at the on site restaurant was excellent as well for a reasonable price at a tourist destination.
This zoo is by far the best around. We love to see all the animals but our favorite part is the deer forest. You can buy food for the deer and feed them (coin op machines are in the park). Be warned that some males know there is food there and will wait around them to get the food. They can have large antlers and don't realize the reach they have with them. Some deer have no fear of people and will eat out of your hand while others are timid and will eat in the woods if you throw them some. We always go at least once or twice a summer. Never disappoints!
My family and I had a blast! Perfect for a family outing. We arrived at about 1 and left at about 5:45 We still felt like we could have used some more time, to explore! Absolutely loved the Deer Forest.
Great visit!! Loved the train ride, sky ride and deer woodland. 100% will visit again.
Great zoo. Lots of animals, small kiddie ride area, deer field where you can feed the deer.
Great zoo with awesome activities to break up the day for the kids.
Southwick's Zoo is the best! The family is amazing to keep the grounds so clean! When you first pull up, you think its going to be a tiny zoo with not a lot to see, but once you enter those gates its huge, with tons to see! Great place to go and much more than just a zoo!
Absolutely love this place and the staff are so awesome. You can tell they're treated well as employees. Animals look healthy and happy. I understand it probably costs a ton of money to maintain this facility but $91 for myself and two kids to walk in the door is a sin
Love this place! The characters here are well-loved and the habitats are well-designed. I always feel good when I walk around and engage with the residents. Congrats to the Southwick Family!
Had a great time with my grandkids the only thing that ruined it is this pandemic we're going through
Animal attractions have improved in the last few years. Walking paths are mostly in the shade which is great for summer days. Everything is well laid out and maintained. Lots of animals to see. Prices are reasonable too.
Personally it's not worth a trip. Came all the way from cape cod and I was pretty disappointed. I've seen many commercials and thinking it would be exciting but I wouldn't go there again. Didn't see half the animals they claim to have way too many monkeys. It was almost like a monkey sanctuary. My mother in law and my son had the wrist bands and that doesn't cover hardly anything. I don't think my family and I will be going there again in the future.
I took my family yesterday and we loved it. We are from Worcester and it said about 35 minutes but we made it less than that. Very clean place and the animals very well taken care off. We are planning to go back. if you have the chance to go, go.
We enjoyed the outdoor seating tasty drinks fresh food live entertainment sights sounds and slight odor of animals from the distance we could see from our table zebras ostrich elk it was a pretty cool experience
First time coming here! It was cool! The petting zoo attendant was super nice and my kids had a blast feeding and petting the goats. The deer forest walk was so different! In the best way! Lots of different types of animals to see. We know it was early in the season so we're planning on coming back and crossing our fingers that the skyfari ride, certain animals and such will be open!
Btw, the chimpanzees were hilarious and so fun to watch! We could've watched them for hours!
There's lots to see here. So many animals! But be prepared to walk a lot on dirt paths. I was not ready for that so my white sandals got ruined. The walk paths are also very hilly and the map was confusing so we ended up walking in circles many times and retracing paths were already took. The deer experience is pretty cool. The kids and the adults enjoyed our time here.
Wonderful experience doing the drive through tour and it was amazing!
Excellent Zoo, clean, spacious, friendly, zip line, Safari Sky ride, great food, gift shop great prices.
