I had a baby here. They sent me a blanket with my daughter's name and DOB for their incompetence. I rang my buzzer and asked for assistance getting a shower, after a cesarean delivery and 1st day pre-op, to no avail, until I went it alone and almost passed out. The nurse found me as I was about to pass out.

My mother has cancer and goes here. The staff is very nice and treat my mother amazing. They always give my mother compliments and lift her spirits. I really appreciate their efforts and compassion with my mother The doctor cuts down every idea I have about natural healing and says "that's not true and it won't work" for every suggestion I have. I really believe we can naturally heal ourselves from every disease, and I'm sick of medical workers saying natural ways don't work just because they want to make money.

By far the worst ER I ever been to, I waited three hours and the doctor, who was very rude and condescending told me she could not give me pain medication because I was given too much in the past for prior injuries. No doctor should deny a patient pain meds when their job is to treat and not judge anyone. This is by fat THE WORST HOSPITAL IN AMERICA. I would not go back there even if I was dying. Nor will I pay my bill, it can go to collections case I refuse to give these people my money for no treatment and the way I was talked to. Now I see why so many people call this hospital DEATHWEST.

I have been a patient at least once a year and sometimes twice, over the last 25 years. I can count on one hand the number of times I have felt any disappointment in my treatment or care. The nursing staff have always been wonderful and caring. The housekeeping staff has always been helpful and friendly. Everyone seems concerned about getting me better and back home. For those who might complain about the staff, etc I might suggest that being kind and courteous generally begets kindness and courtesy.

Horrific. The staff was stalling, chit chatting, flirting with eachother, purposefully holding patient's pain medication to punish them for complaining, and so much more. My grandmother and I were in the ER for over 7 hours. They were intentionally stalling us here so they could continuously charge her insurance more and more. They would force her to wait 1h30min between tests just to charge us more. These tests were like urine and blood tests. They took her blood, then waited 1h30min to inform us she had to give a urine sample. In this time the RN's were just walking around doing nothing, flirting with each other, complaining about patients and everything they could do to stall. When we wanted to leave, the RN received my grandmother's discharge papers and held onto them for over an hour while he did nothing just to punish her for complaining. We watched him get the papers, look at us, turn back to the other RN and laugh. When I had enough I walked up and asked him what was going on. He said, "I'll be over there in just a minute." then proceeded to walk around a pretend he was doing other things. I know he wasn't doing anything because I watched him. He was just walking around. 30min later he finally brings the discharge papers so we can leave and they were dated all wrong. They were dated for 2014...... like seriously? OK now we have to wait for them to be corrected. This place is full of narcissistic RN's that believe they are better than anybody there and take advantage of the power they have by punishing and torturing patients. AVOID THIS ER by all means necessary unless you absolutely can't.

I was treated quickly and appropriately at Southwest General Health Center ER.
The staff was efficient, even though busy with others. They were also kind and patient. I am an RN. Please remember that an ER gets any kind of patient, without usually much notice. They must prioritize care. If you don't think they are working fast enough for you, its probably because they are trying to save someone else's life elsewhere in that ER.

Since the addition I have been to their Emergency ...

Since the addition I have been to their Emergency Room twice. Once for my heart. After waiting 4 hours in the waiting area I left the hospital, since my anger was making my heart condition worse. The ER attendants were so rude it was disgusting. I watched how they treated people complaining about the wait, people with bleeding mouths, broken arms in pain who could not be relieved until seen, but could not get seen. I guess they see that a lot and lost their empathy. Disgusting to see where you go for help. They all need some retraining in customer care. The second time my daughter went at 4am with a 3 day old infant, after they waited three hours they complained and were told its a SIX HOUR WAIT!!!!!
They left and went to Brunswick, where there was no wait! They never even told them about their other branch down the road with no wait!

Since the addition, it seems the "addition of wait" is the only thing added to this place. Go somewhere else if you need Emergency service.!!!!! Your life may depend on it

L&D nurse has terrible bedside manner. Very disrespectful and condescending to family. This is not our first bad birthing experience at this hospital. I do not recommend this hospital- go to Cleveland Clinic Fairview if you want a great birthing experience.

I had my baby here in 2014. The staff were very kind, but extremely busy. It was clear that the ER and the maternity departments were understaffed. It took awhile for the nurses to be able to respond to the call button, even while I was in labor. But once you got a nurse in the room, they did a good job of answering questions and the lactation consultants were very helpful. I hope that the understaffing is a temporary problem. The food is good, the rooms are pretty nice and in general the nurses are good too, but there just aren't enough of them!

UPDATE OCTOBER 13TH 2020.... .,., I am beginning to rethink my original feelings on the aftercare program.
Unfortunately I have had a relapse, am hoping they can and will help me, obviously doing things my way did not work and im ready and willing to do what they suggest this time. ORIGINAL REVIEW STARTS HERE....So the hospital/detox part of this program is pretty amazing. It's what comes after that is a problem. So you are heavily sedated for the time you are in the hospital. I I truly dont believe that 3 days is long enough for addicts. I begged for them to keep me longer but they would not. I dont think 3 days is long enough for serious addicts with high risk of relapse. So when you get home and all the stuff they give you wears off, you feel awful! Then you go to the place across the street to start vivytrol but.they force you to do 3 days a week multiple hours a day of counseling just to get your meds. If I had cancer would I have to do counseling to get treatment? I got a full time plus job shortly after my hospital stay which made it impossible to put in the time and homework they require
Anyway I got lucky in that my regular doctor was willing to give me the vivytrol in his office without all the garbage this program requires. I am happy to report I am still clean and dont even get the vivytrol any longer.

I think that, like any hospital they have good and bad staff. Some care, others care less. I think all doctors and nurses actually care, but they are so over whelmed with patience and deadlines they simply have to rush every thing.

Great hospital there is a lot of art on the walls. It feels soothing like an art museum. When I was waiting for a loved one in surgery I walked the halls and looked at all the artwork. It was relaxing during a tense time.

I was in the ER and transferred to a room for 4 days. I took the wrong meds at home and had a bad reaction. The Doctors figured it out and treated me wonderfully. Maybe being a good patient helps? One nurse I had (Lisa) could not have been better if she tried. I would be proud to have her as my daughter, can't say enough good thing about her. All the other nurses and PCA's were great.

You are a transaction. Not a patient. Only one person to admit you while you stand in line. If the person behind you does not see the sign, they are standing on your heel while you explain what your emergency is. Who reads signs when they have an emergency! I grew up in Middleburg Hts utilizing Southwest. If I had to walk in for an emergency, I would not recommend going to Southwest. The CEO needs to stand in line pretending they have an emergency. No one should have to read a sign when you walk into the emergency room! They should feel embraced and directed. The previous set up was so much better!

After waiting for an hour and half in horrible pain, I begged the nurse at the front desk to please let me see someone. "There are six people ahead of you, sorry nothing I can do." Unbelievable!! When I got to the ER, there were seven people ahead of me. One person was taken back in an hour and a half.
If there was a zero rating I would give this ER that rating. They aren't serving their patients and they need to drop the attitudes. I also know of someone who waited four and a half hours with chest pain and got the same attitude.
Whoever you are that is running this ER, wake up and take care of your patients!!
I left and was treated at Fairview.

I've always had a place in my heart for this hospital. Both of my children were born here and I as well as other family members have spent time here. It has a warm atmosphere and the Doctors have always been very helpful and forthcoming. I wish they were in the Cleveland Clinic network so that I would get referred there more often but my wife still has physicians here that I trust will take good care of her.

This facility is terrible. They ALWAYS mess up anything I've had done by them radlology tasks. I asked for a copy of a report and was told to go pick up at medical records myself and it would not be mailed to me. The clinic, Cleveland clinic, metro, and the real University Hospitals freely provide mailed reports. They are always rude and take forever and miss details. I hate this place.

I was seen with runaway hyper-tension and had to spend a couple days in observation after a visit to the emergency room. Things were very pleasant and state of the art. Everyone in the hospital had a voice activated communication device around their neck, which enabled them to contact anyone else in the hospital at any time. Needs were met quickly and without issue. No longer did anyone have to go look for someone for something, they were all a quick communication away and showed up promptly. Everyone was very nice and attentive. Not to say I had a wonderful time, it was no resort hotel being in the hospital, but glad I went here and not somewhere else.

I will say that the ER wait is terrible and I was not diagnosed as I should have been. The first time I was there I waited 2 1/2 hours, the second time it was even longer at 4 hours. Both of those times I was very sick still they sent me home. By the third time I was so sick when I got there I wasn't even put them triage they immediately took me back. I was in severe renal failure and from the time I arrived to admit time was 3 1/2 hours.
I am very grateful to my doctor here Dr. Issa, he is the best. He is very caring and compassionette and that makes him an excellent person and doctor.
The nurses and staff on 3 West are great. I've been treated very good by all of them.
Being sick is not fun, waiting in the ER so sick and nothing done for you is rough but having a great doctor and a great nursing staff once admitted makes the difference.
