I've visited several departments at this hospital and have been amazed by how friendly and receptive their staff are. The wait time has been minimal and the physicians readily answer any and all questions thoroughly. The layout of the hospital makes it easy to find your way around and it is very well kept.

Worst care EVER... no empathy, billing sucks and they do NOT care about the patients only about the $$$. I had my first and only child there and advise anyone who is having a child to PLEASE go somewhere else even if it is a little farther away, trust me it will be worth the drive!

I will not go there again. I went there 3 times with my daughter they did 3 different ultrasounds and a CT scan and still no answers over a period of 3 days. In the meantime she was in tremendous pain. Then send me to collections for the 3 different ultrasounds because there billing department apparently doesn't now to bill a insurance company. But yet the hospital and the physician bill was paid..... Oh should I mention that I went to Fairview Hospital and they figured out what was wrong within an hour and she ended up having surgery within a week.

Southwest is a much better hospital when it comes ...

Southwest is a much better hospital when it comes to service than it has been in the past. Their emergency room takes traumas, regular emergencies, but unlike many emergency rooms they have a psychiatric ward to treat people with mental illness. Because there has been so many additions to the original hospital, getting to various sections can be confusing. However, the staff is very helpful. There is a Subway restaurant in the main lobby that makes it easier for visitors to get food while visiting or wait for patiants. There is a covered garage for handicapped people. There is a larger covered garage for regular visitors plus valet parking. The hospital is clean, bright, and beautifully decorated. There are pleasant areas for sitting both inside and out. Out patient services are easy to find and well-staffed. Going to the hospital is not always a happy event, but Southwest staff try to make it as quick and efficient as possible.

In January of this year (2016), I had an appt. with Dr. Partial an he admitted me because I was in heart failure. I had an aortic valve replacement open heart surgery on January 18th. I was under the care of Drs. Partial. Youssefi, and Jai Lee. I received the most amazing care both from my doctors and the hospital staff. Everyone was very compassionate and explained everything to me. Thank you as I'm doing so much better. Better than I've felt in years.

A very regrettable relapse recently. After 1 1/2 sober thanks to the breakthrough program in 2017. I knew the only place to go back to that would treat me with such care and respect would be the BreakThru program at Southwest Hospital.

A very sincere thank you to Andrea and Jennifer and the medical staff.

Well back on my way to living my best life!!!

Thanks again.

It used to be a great hospital but now it's a joke. Workers are mean and all I heard was hey so and so what are you doing this weekend. Meanwhile patients are sick and I'm sure they really want to know what Nurse Hot Pants is doing this weekend. It's a shame

As an employee of this hospital I'm extremely upset with the fact they don't care about their employees being pregnant and patients of the hospital.
I parked in the '1' maternity spot that doesn't specify for patients only it just says expecting mother's only.. I am about 8 months pregnant and they gave me a ticket for parking in the spot.
I went to talk to security and the officer was very rude to me.
I walked out crying because I was told I needed to park where I was supposed to.
8 months pregnant and an employee and this is how I'm treated?! Not very cool.

Poor knowledge, behind on modern techniques, played run around to get my ER record for my PVP because they wanted me to do everything thru them. I don't know why UH would put their names on this terrible hospital.

This rating is for the Labor and Delivery department. Staff was in inconsiderate, had no regard for patient privacy or modesty. I would have to request the staff not to throw open the door and stop yammering away at all hours because we either were preparing to have a baby in a few hours or just had one and required some amount of sleep! The induction protocols are disgusting, you will Not be allowed to eat, sleep, only water to drink for 12 hrs then your expected to go into hours of pitocin induced labor. No surprise this hospital has such a high cesarean rate. A few kind nurses a couple were down right confrontational and rude most indifferent and oblivious.

I have never experienced the lack of communication...

I have never experienced the lack of communication at any hospital more than we have experienced at this facility. Three days after the doctor released our Father he wasn't discharged with NO PAPERWORK. Only a survey on our experience there. Set him up with home health care over an hour away from our area. We specifically requested a homehealth facility in our area and completely disregarded. Very dissatisfied and beyond frustrated at the whole experience.

My doctors are at Cleveland Clinic, and my wife's are at Southwest. By far, the friendliest staff and doctors you could ever want are at Southwest. I am looking to switch. Bedside manner means so much to our health, yet it goes unrecognized when "ranking" hospitals.

14 hours in an emergency observation room at the cost of $1000.00 an hour and waiting for a Dr that may or may not make any rounds this evening.... the nurses were left trying to hold things together while the Dr was awol. I could sit at home and watch my wife suffer. Without waiting for some arrogant Dr to decide if he wants to do his job

My mother was brought here 3 times by ambulance because she kept passing out. They dismissed it as a bladder infection. When we took her to Metro, they discovered that she needed a pacemaker, whisked her into surgery, and saved her life. Nice. One cardiologist st SWGH actually suggested that she needed a pacemaker when she passed out while attracted to a cardiac monitor, but for some reason, that wasn't done. They just sent her home. I will drive past that hospital to go to any other hospital in the region. They are a disgrace.

Good hospital, mix of older and newer buildings. Suburban convenience and atmosphere, easier to navigate around than Cleveland Clinic, let's say. Their MRI'S seem scant in amount and types of imaging done- still sufficient, but not the quality of the Clinic's studies. In all, their services are complete. Cardiac, stroke, and the more usual issues are dealt with well. You'll most likely know when you need something more advanced. Good ER.

Worst hospital and staff in Northeast ohio. This place never have proper staff . Unless your 103 and came in a ambulance you're getting ignored . I've seen a guy sit for hours with his skin burned off his hand just sir ng waiting with a bucket of water. This hospital is a joke you would expect better out in the suburbs but wrong. Nurses are rude doctors are arrogant and rude. Good like finding anything out about your medical condition . If you do get released from the er be ready to wait another three hours for the lazy employees to finish up paper work .honeslty worst medical establishment I've ever been too. And the sad thing is I was birthed in that hell hole

I have had very good service here over the years.....

I have had very good service here over the years.. yes, there has been a time or two that I did wait a long time in the emergency room department. Although since they added the new building on it does seem to run much smoother.
As far as the private practices. ... I love my gyn. But, I disliked a few others enough to never return ..
So to sum it up. I think the hospital itself is great. There is alot of different doctors there so it is to be expected to find a few that we don't like.

On 8/22/16 I visited the ER at Southwest Hospital for an irregular heart beat. They did some blood work and monitored my heart for about 3 hours. They told me that my irregular heart beats were not uncommon and to follow up with a cardiologist. Southwest billed my insurer (Aetna) more than $5000.00. Southwest then proceeded to bill me $1211.00 before I received my explanation of benefits (EOB) from Aetna. When my EBO's came from Aetna I realized Southwest had over billed me. Aetna has since sent me a letter stating that the "case rate" for the procedures Southwest did is $1439.00 but if I went to Parma Hospital the same procedures would have cost only $423.00 Both Southwest and Parma Hospitals are operated by University Hospitals. I called and left a message for the Ombudsman at Southwest. I have not received a return call. Both Southwest and Parma are under the University Hospitals Health care system. How can Southwest justify a more than 300% higher rate for their services? My only mistake was walking through the doors at Southwest and not Parma. Southwest just raped me for walking through their doors.

Went to ER today, they took my vitals then stuck me back in lobby to wait in a very packed room. Last time I was there my Dr sent me to them and I waited in the ER lobby for 6 hours I,til I finally passed out. My Dr transferred me to St John's H9spital because of Southwests poor ER care and 8 was hospitalized for 5 days. Today I just had to walk out as they didn't even have a bed I could lay down in. I have a blood condition and bleeding inside somewhere that is showing up under my skin and they did nothing. Never again

I've tried to like this facility but just can't. I've had my intestines torn in multiple places during a hysterectomy. I've been told as a diabetic to perk up cause I'd have to go home same day as surgery through my neck to take lymph node from center of my chest....I'm diabetic. I had a series of rabies shots after a dog bite. The third time there the pharmacy sent the entire series down again, after a very long wait, fortunately an alert nurse there knew I was only supposed to get one shot, not an entire series. Billing was notified of insurance number to cover full procedure, now in exactly a month, I'm receiving letters and phone calls from bill collectors, for the entire cost. I've been failed in multiple ways by multiple departments in this facility, will not be returning here for any future care.
