Our furry family is always in safe hands here!! We are regular customers every six months. And the few times in emergency situations that we needed advice quickly, the staff was there to answer all our questions. Super reassuring to have that available, by phone or walk in! Luv them!
I had such a great experience here today with my cat. We just moved here a few months ago, Kelly had done our direct release and she was wonderful and very good with my cat. Today I brought the kitty in for a possible ear infection. Place was clean, inviting and comfortable. Receptionist was very nice and professional. The room we went into was clean and roomy. Our last vet had tiny rooms that made it uncomfortable. The vet tech came in she was nice, and made us feel as at home as we could be. My cat actually felt comfortable running around and checking out the room, she's never done that before. The vet we saw was Dr. Milnes. She was sweet, very thorough and answered all my questions. When they were feeling her organs and checking her ears the vet tech was scratching my cats chin, they were very loving towards my baby. They were awesome, and I felt totally comfortable with them handling her. My cat Agnes actually rubbed up against the doctor, which is so out of her normal behavior. It was kind of fun that when the vet and her tech were out of the room, there is a window that I could pick the cat up and she could look out, she loved that. Cat does have the beginning stages of an ear infection and we got some drops, the doctor showed me how to put them in. Best vet experience, I felt totally comfortable the whole time and I think my baby felt as comfortable as she could (the window helped) But very knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. Cost was not bad at all. I'm thankful to have a vet like them.
Dr. Jordan and his staff took very good care of my dog Sweetie Boy. His problem required surgery. Although I was anxious for the procedure, Dr. Jordan and his staff kept me fully informed every step of the way. I can t thank them enough.
I raised prize winning English Mastiff and bullmastiff dogs and there's nowhere else on the island that I would take them other than to dr. Jordan and dr. Chin and dr. Casey
I have a bull mastiff named Kahuna who had serious eye problems that had I taken him to the specialist Oahu it could have easily cost me $10,000
It didn't even cost me half that because he knows that I am a true lover of animals not just the average breeder.
And I believe that he also is a lover of animals and that is why he is a veterinarian
I know personally he does things for people to try to save them money unlike most of the other veterinarians I have experienced.
When I have an emergency they drop everything and take me in no questions asked. They have gone way out of their way to accommodate me many times I would write them 5 stars six if there's existed. I have never had a better veterinarian in my life and I have been raising dogs for over 50 years

We moved to the Big Island of Hawaii with our 4 Chihuahuas September 1st. Kelly and the staff at Kona Veterinary Service were amazing! Our dogs made the flight but we did not. When we arrived on the next flight in Kona our dogs were safe and sound at their facility. Thank you so much Kona Veterinary Service for assuring that our move to Hawaii with our pups went smoothly!
The vet that I had look at my pet, his name was Dr. Ryan, he seemed to really care, and they're actually somewhat affordable at least compared to the other veterinarians.
Taped a splint to my dogs leg after the first two caused additional injury and simply fell off. The third splint broke and came apart (no rough housing none if them got wet). By the time we got all the bandages off, using warm water to loosen the tape from his fur, he had open wounds in his broken paw and leg caused from the poor medical treatment. the staff are friendly, the clinic is clean and pleasant and the price is right, but I don't trust them with my pets.

Having just moved to Kona from Hilo, the idea of switching doctors for our incredibly resilient and loving pooch was extremely nerve-wracking. Thankfully my husband knew of a good place that was close to our home and from the minute we stepped in, it did not fail to impress us. The front desk and admin staff were so friendly and engaging that we immediately knew that we were in the right place. The sweet Veterinary Assistant who took our pooch's vitals and was such an authority on all things canine, was such a delight and so knowledgeable that we assumed that she was the doctor. She even lubed up the dreaded rectal thermometer and made that ordeal as innocuous as possible for our tough little guy who saw the whole thing as just another day of getting nonstop lovins'. Then the doctor came in and was a complete sweetheart: gentle, informed and a former military veterinarian to boot (how is that for heartwarming?) He even gave us the option to hold our little guy down ourselves while he did a mange scrape which we preferred since our little guy is a rescue dog with the biggest heart and trusts us implicitly... but also because we are overbearing dog parents who just want to keep our canine baby feeling safe and loved.
These guy's go out of their way to make sure you feel like ohana!
Aloha. We have just established care at Kona Vet. for our 2 dogs since moving from Oahu. We knew our smaller dog needed some help with her teeth, in particular having a canine pulled. I wasn't looking forward to her having the surgery because I knew how much they would have to take out. Dr. Chin did a fabulous job. Arya hasn't had hardly any side effects. She has had only small amount of bloody saliva. She is eating and drinking just fine. She even wants to play (which we aren't allowing, of course) it's only the 2nd day after surgery. Thank you for the excellent care we've received so far!
Had an emergency for my puppy. I tried to use my Care Credit card to pay for it so I could take care of him. Their minimum is $500 to use it. So to make up the difference I tried to purchase flea and heartworm prevention. They said no because the owner doesn't want to pay a higher fee to the credit card company. I used to work for a vet and we used Care Credit all the time, I know how it works.
They said I could take my dog home and see what happens.
That sounds like a company that's more about money than helping animals.
I wasn't asking for free stuff. I was just trying to take care of my puppy & spend even MORE money to do so. In addition they increased our bill $50 more than the estimate.
These doctors are great, everyone here is so friendly, helpful and genuine. Timely too. We're never here more than 30 minutes even though they always look busy. Thank you!

Great service from Kona Veterinary, they hosted my pets here when I arrived on island and have been helpful and responsive since then. I can always get a quick appointment when needed and all the staff are very caring.
Excellent vet care. The doctors and assistants who take care of your animals are fantastic and I would not hesitate to bring my animals back. However, I cannot give five stars because the front desk customer service could be improved. Their over the phone communication is often short, rude, and could be more solutions oriented and customer centric.
I've been a customer for 5 years with Kona Vet and today I had the worst customer service ever from the counter gal. I needed to get my dogs heart worm/flee med but was told my dog needed to see a vet before getting it. Lady asked me 3 time for my dogs name I gave it to her. 2 dogs with separate accounts because 1 dog is my daughters, we bring them together to save on office visits. I paid $188.00 in Nov for both dogs, Im sure that included a exam and not just a heart worm test.
I arrived on the Big Island in May 2018 and choose Kona Vet Service to care for my beloved dachshunds, I have been very pleased with the services here. Dr. Ryan Barnett really went above & beyond when my little girl doxie had a UTI, he was very fair & very diligent, he took care of her like she was his own.
I also have my little boy under the care of Dr. Chinn, she also has taken very good care of him. My little boy dachshund has an upcoming surgery and I have the utmost confidence that these Dr.s will make sure he has all the best care. I'm pretty careful who I trust with my fur babies and Kona Veterinary Service has earned my confidence

I would ignore the negative reviews which are clearly people that are unhappy with their lives and want to use Google reviews to try and "take down" a receptionist because of some perceived slight. Take that kind of negativity Yelp where it belongs.
These fabulous wonderful loving, caring, and nuturing veterinarians and their assistants and their staff are all wonderful. They helped us through difficult times with our 2 previous cats! Now we have a new kitten addition to our family and Kona Veterinary Service is once again, connected to us! Thank you!!!
Very impressed with the doctors here. My cat was on her way out. Dr. Chin diagnosed a rather rare condition for cats, offered several options including surgery, got her in the same day and one week later my cat is acting nearly normal. And all this for a fair price. Many thanks to Dr. Chin and Kona Veterinary Service.

It's been exactly two weeks since our family of three humans and eight furbabies have arrived on the Big Island!! Thanks to Kelly for helping us from the beginning, always promptly returning my millions of phone calls and always extremely informative about the entire process!! My husband, son, and i had to take three separate flights, and i had to fly out of LA with our pitbulls - the plan was for my son and i to arrive minutes apart in Kona on the first day and my husband to arrive the second day. My flight was delayed by hours and i was freaking out at the thought of my son being stranded with the cats as he waited for me... Kelly assured me that all would be well, and upon my arrival i found that she went ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure my family's safety and comfort!!! The vet check for the animals (including the next day for my husband and the furMenaces to Society of our herd) went so smoothly and quickly, and she was so kind and patient the whole time!! Our animals adjusted to their new home immediately, and love their new island life!! (They're so spoiled, they have their own instagram @TheHollandHerd, so check them out! Hahaha)

Love the Veterinarians and Vet Assistants here. They treat my pups like their own. It is a little pricey however they give my fur babies the best care possible!

They accepted my new patient appointment for my two pups. Got a call back 5min later stating they couldn t see my girls and can t except them as their patient due to their breed! They re 1 year old puppies? Not even a muzzle request to meet them and see if they have any aggressive behavior? I feel some type of way now and wondering can a DR. turn away a patient due to his race?

Our first time there. Saw us fairly quickly without an appointment in an emergency situation with our cat. Seemed reasonably kind and professional.
If you are into frustrating communication and one hand not knowing what the other is doing while your beloved pet's life is hanging in the balance then go to this vet. They are knowledgeable but won't listen to what you are sharing about your pet's life and therefore I could not trust their recommendations. The vet herself talked so fast I couldn't even tell her the important details that she needed to know. I was there forever repeating what I was saying because she kept asking me the same questions. I kept having to raise my voice and say: "What I am concerned about is.." By the next day there were so many miscommunications in that office that I just said forget it. My time, money and pet's life are too important to deal with imbalanced people. I cut my losses and went back to Ali'i Vet.
People talk nice but don't do a good job. Over paid for the worse service I have ever had from a veterinarian office in over 30 years. Was told by 2 employees I would get a credit back to my card. They lied. Paid $622 for a blood test and it was not handled correctly.
When the blood was taken from by less than 10 lb dog, they took him in the other room. Through 2 doors I heard him crying.
When returned they said he would me tender on the left side, he got away from them with the needle in his neck and they had to take it from the other side. He is not a dog that cries or barks , he cried in my arms for a while. I just felt sick.
When I called for blood results that could easily been done in 2 weeks if handled correctly, I was told well it's just a waiting game., by Donna.

Since this experience I have heard many other bad stories from other people who went to Kona Veterinary Service. Wish I would have heard their stories before I went there. It is a place that is in it for the money more than the animals for sure.

I can't say enough good things about Kona Veterinary Service. I initially found them when shipping my 2 cats from New Hampshire 5 years ago. They helped make the process very smooth and reasonable which took a big concern away from shipping my animals across the country. Since then, they continue to take care of my pets health and I'm very happy with the treatment and reasonable rates. Kona Veterinary Service is the best.
Jesse is one of the best vets I have known. She seriously cares and takes the time to listen. I seriously recommend this veterinary, i haven't had the pleasure of meeting the other vets, but I would see them any day!! Thank you for saving my dog!!
Kelly with the direct release program is incredible. We have used the service more than once and Kelly is fantastic and very helpful. She is always friendly and professional when we fly our dog. We would not use anyone else.

We have 3 cats and 2 dogs that we take to Kona Vet service. We use them for regular vet visits & vaccines. And I have had to come in during regular hours with two emergencies, which they accommodated. We also had to do one emergency vet visit after hours, which they were super caring & understanding about. I've also had to call after hours because one of our dogs was having an allergy attack. The vet on call walked me through steps we could try before having to meet & those steps worked. We also used them for our direct release when we moved here with our 2 cats 5 years ago! It's been a pleasure working with all the veterinarians on staff here. The nurses are great & I enjoy everyone in the front office as well. Thanks Kona Vet for keeping our pets safe & healthy!
