My 3yr old loved the gymnastics and swimming lessons. The staff was polite and professional, and my daughter definately learned from them while enjoying herself.

We ve also rented a room for birthday parties, they do an amazing job. Theres better places out there for sure, but in terms of bang-for-your-buck, you cant beat the Y. The give you a bunch of balls, hola hoops, a parachute, and a few highschoolers to toddler-wrangle for you. The kids all had a complete blast.

Many reviews point out the building is old and in need of an update - it is - but the kids dont even notice that. I keep renewing my membership.

Exercise at the newly renovated gym everyday. Showers , spa and steam rooms were added . Lockers and dressing rooms are new. Nice atmosphere. Staffs are great. N

Terrible place.. we are members here and usualy go for swimming over the weekend. And every time, it s terrible. I am just walking out, we came for family swim this afternoon. They had just two lanes open! There were 14 people in that lane. How would uou even stand there.. What did they smoke for such planning!! This is the situation for almost all weeks. I reached the front desk and they refused to help.. Terrible place and terrible staff..

Please avoid this center.

I wish there was more lanes available to public :-(

I ve had a few friends work at the Somerville YMCA over the last few years and the way they talked about it encouraged me to work there over the summer, and the let me tell you the hype is real. The atmosphere there is so encouraging and inviting that I felt at home the second I walked in the door and I got a membership there the second summer ended just so i could be there more often. The after-school staff really knows the kids that come in and are so warm and welcoming to new kids, I recommend every family should enroll their kids in the after-school program just so they can interact with the staff they have. And ever since they got their new gym equipment and facilities, it feels like the whole place got a total facelift and is even better than it already was. A-plus YMCA!

I take my daughter for gymnastics and taekwando. The teachers are nice and the people at the front desk. They offer good programs. However the place definitely needs a building makeover. Its smells old and has old equipment .

Tried to cancel my membership on 11/30/ Phone were down and i was unable to reach anyone. I called 12/1 and was told i will be charged for December and January as they require 30 day cancellation notice and since December has already started they will charge for January as well. When i signed up i was not 1. explained about 30 day cancellation policy and 2. i was prorated for the month i signed up. Not sure why the same can be applied at cancellation. Anyway, not using this facility again. they charge an arm and a leg and do not offer much. Group classes schedule kept being changed, was over crowded. They need better management.

I had enrolled my kid for the discovery summer camp program at somerset YMCA. The staff is not at all good, on the outdoor activity they just sit on the grass and no activities are done.
Never do a more that 1 week of payment , I did the 2 weeks payment and due international travel i have to relocate the the YMCA management did not refund my 1 week of advance ,even i gave then all the proof + the advance notice. ($300) .
I would say send your kid to some a better summer champ for there learning and growth.
YMCA is so so so costly + not upto the standard.

This place is very racist and doesn't like anybody who isn't Caucasian! A bunch of Trump Supporters who are don't want any children but their own in their camp! Stay far away from these racist!

This place is a total waste of money. We are members but this place is giving us no value for our money.The gymnastic class at this place is terrible.They only have a couple of experienced instructors for the higher level students.The instructors for beginners are part time instructor kids from the schools. Moreover, they keep on changing the instructors very often. Every time I go, I see a new kid. I believe few kids go back to study and get they new ones...The place is smelly and stinks like hell. They don't even care to put some air fresheners.
Just a waste of money and time.

Credit card was charged without my consent. I put my membership on hold and it automatically started charging me membership fee again without my permission.

I cancelled my membership after they made me leave the building because I was wearing sports bra. It was very embarrassing since I worked out dressed like that for over a year at this gym and all of a sudden this manager comes to me in front of everybody saying that I was making the members uncomfortable . Now I workout at a gym where everyone can wear whatever they want, it doesn t matter the age, type of body or anything. I m way happier now!

Lifeguards are constantly chatting and laughing, not care about the safety of the kids...... So not professional :-(

I am member of YMCA a year ago and in the last two weeks I have had disagreements I went to pool with my family and the manager or something like that asked us to leave that it was no time for use with families her name is Cristhina we were 2 minutes and we had to leave .
And today I want to go the pool at night and the schudele is at 9pm I think this schedule no is good for kids and their families and when I can use the pool with my family after work so that my children can rest for the next day go to school terrible service

I have had a wonderful experience working with the YMCA- Somerville afterschool program. My son has attended for almost two years now and really lkes it. This program provides transportation from the school to the YMCA which was absolutely necessary for me. The staff members are all very helpful and keep the children entertained with various activities. I especially appreciated the homework club which made sure the kids did thier homework while at the YMCA. I would and have recommended the YMCA afterschool program to family and friends.

People are nice. The monthly payments is expensive $62.00 month. You better of going to other gym for the price. They have a nice pool and gym.

Received a phone call & a voicemail about cancellation of my Child activity today be cuz they re use the place for gym. Call back and this lady name Joyce had a nasty bad customer service on the phone. First of all when you calling people for cancellation you might wanted to tell them too how you handle that.. either give us credit or make up for your canceling something that is already paid full for. Not came up with oh we are not sure or we don t know none of that is answer will help. So before the boss tell you what to do find the solutions too. If you wanted the money we wanted the class to be happen too. Not just calling people when the money is paid to cancel be cause the place need to use for other activities, is really not my problem. And with that customer service front desk attitude make it the worse of the situation. So not professional at all. Maybe the Y need to hire people that appreciate parents or customers better. You guys need us otherwise you won t have a job cuz the company don t have customers to pay you. Simple as that. This is why and how make people pissed off. Bad customer service!

If given a choice would have rated lower than 1.....worst customer service. I had enrolled my 4 year old son for summer gymnastic ...took few session and finally pulled him out bcoz it was just waste of time for my wife and son ...they would leave him all by himself and in 1 hour session he would only get 2-3 mins ....1 young tutor (possibly student) for 6-8 kids and somehow he was just biased and focused on 1 kid....when we complained they accepted the mistake and assured to improve, by the time only 5 classes were remaining. When asked for make up class they didn't even entertain how they can rectify the mistake. Worst treatment you can get, no response to concerns or escalations.

Finally I decided to cancel my membership and keep only for my wife...sent them scanned copy and they never responded and still charged me....just to be told they don't monitor their mailbox.

I don't know if all branches are the same but the one in Somerville is pathetic....stay away from this unprofessional bunch of people

I visit here for swimming. Swim schedule is disgusting. Family swim when kids can swim starts after 0830pm. Which kids swim at 0830 pm?It is because those who make schedule do not have kids. they are totally sold to swim team and for swim team they would do anything. even they change schedule at last minute and give reasons which are not practical.They are looters of your money and want you to just pay. Out of 7 days family swim is allowed only on weekend on reasonable hours and rest of days after 0830 pm when kids sleep. over all cleaning is not up to mark.do not go here as they make every attempt to see family's are not encouraged.My little kid was not allowed to swim due to last minute change of schedule because i am honest member but others who acted over smart were allowed. They are nothing but family disturbers. Aquatics director is very rude and doe snot care other than money /business/swim team.

Terrible. I live in walking distance and I still don't go there. I had a membership for a year. It always seemed dirty. The classes were really aweful. They painted the room with all the equipment DURING PEAK HOURS. The pool was so warm it was gross. Crappy plastic curtains in the locker room. And on top of all that, the monthly rate for a single person was insane. I've belonged to much nicer Y's with the same rate. Someone really needs to fix this place, it's a mess.

Thank you Christina Huang for helping me a lot so my kids have opportunity to enjoy the facility. As Chinese with language deficiency she help me translate language with patient.

I m 56, got sick after swimming. The water feels freezing.

Great place to unwind..swim...play basketball...weight room..parties..and more.

The people at the front desk are nice and the locker room is ok

I enjoy the cycling classes and POUND for a good stress relief and sweat and Candlelight Yoga for relaxation. I ve signed up for the small group compound lifting class that s been very helpful in increasing my confidence to lift in the wellness center. Sauna and steam at the Y has become a part of my weekly routine and I love it!

There s nothing to to if you re 11 and one of the worker yell at a little kid really hard and he started crying.
