Somerville House Review

Just last week I found a whole family of rats. How lucky! So I adopted them all, and now they have a new home, in the spare locker! #freetherats

My daughter loves Somerville House. She is also very proud of her green uniform. My husband and I are both in education and we know what a good school is. Yes it is expensive but well worth it. The girls at Somerville are very respectful and many of their parents work hard to pay the fees (like us). Again, it is worth it. The academic, sporting, music and service opportunities all contribute to her growing into a responsible, hard working young woman who I am so very proud of.

great environment, the staff there really help with any personal issues you have including home sickness :)

Im only giving it 3 stars because i didnt get my pet rat. This is unacceptable because i would love a replacement for the girls in my class. ill be having it by my bday thank u xoxo

We are so happy to send our daughter to Somerviile House. Best school, very warming, very supporting environment. The girls are proud of their green uniform!! Love it

Somerville House is a great school. It has amazing teachers and the best facilities. For example, the libary and tennis courts are the best. And all the teachers are really good and all of the students are allways listining in class and never talk or play games. Everyone is really friendly and accepting. I made friends really easily here!

My school is right next to yours and I love the school as it is really big and you guys do not argue with us or disturb us, I Highly recommend this school for anyone who is looking for a good future

Had an orientation today, was so fun the girls were great. They took me to classes and the locker rooms, but in the locker rooms they each had a pet rat inside their locker nd it is their responsibility to feed it every morning tea and lunch. My old school had nothing like this so this is like a step up in responsibility and i am looking foward to it. The only thing i would change is that the rat has a personalised barcode on the side....this is how the girls borrow books, purchase tuckshop and other such activities. The rats also must be returned at the end of each term to the Rdepartment, this is fun as they can request a new one each term, i really want darcy!!

Our family went to the school open day and my daughter loved the school immediately. So we have decided to decline Brisbane Girls Grammar school's offer and send her to Somerville House instead. We love everything we saw in the school, except for one thing: the uniform is very ugly. I believe I am not the only one raising it up. When I discussed the school with other friends, most of the comments were like: oh I know Somerville House, that school has the ugly bright green uniform!

Being a private school with such high fees, I think the school should consider to have the current uniform reviewed and re-designed.

Not a nice school full of very spoilt girls. Look at smaller girl schools and not a big money making machine like Somerville.

I go their. I love everything, apart from some specific teachers that I'm not going to mention, who have actually made my sister cry one day, and didn't get any repercussions for it. And, she has very thick skin, i'll tell you that much. All the students here are quite nice and welcoming, and it's in a very nice environment. Also, the uniforms are comfortable, but I feel like the green uniform is very obnoxious. The winter uniform is very hot, since we're in Australia, but the colour scheme in general is nice, even though it's very hard to put on. I hope nobody recognises me!!! Goodbye!

We moved from Sydney at Christmas & enrolled my daughter in year 6 in 2018. The head of junior school Mrs Bennett was lovely at the interview & made her feel very relaxed. She has now been at the school for 6 months & just loves it. The teachers & girls have all been very welcoming & my daughter has settled in very well. We are very happy with the decision to send her to Somerville.

I agree! Unfortunately my pet rat died last week, bu don't worry i will be looking to adopt a new one from behind the bins this afternoon!

School staff have no respect to pedestrians whilst driving into school grounds. School won't respond to email complaints.

A truly wonderful environment, and I've lived in all states of Australia and overseas in 4 countries. This is the best school I have found, anywhere! (and I work in education, so have a good idea of what I am looking for). Thanks Somerville.
