Unfortunately I won t have the chance to rate Solena on its wine, but can rate for lacking customer service and/or communication among its employees. A group of 12 of us had planned well in advance to visit and received confirmation from Solena via e-mail.

One week before our planned visit, I contacted Solena to ONCE AGAIN confirm. Per the response, apparently I should have been following their Facebook page and I would ve known that due to a huge party event taking place that same day, they couldn t accommodate our group. We were given the option to arrive before noon in order to be out by 2:30. Our lunch and transportation plans were set (i.e. deposits made) for this special occasion and could not be rearranged so that we could arrive a couple of hours earlier.

It s incredible to me (and my guests) THEY did not reach out and notify me and left us with one week to find another accommodating winery at the height of wine tasting season. So just a heads up if you THINK you have made confirmed plans with them. Unless you have a few dozen in your group, best to have a backup plan.

We spent $100 on wines with no waiving of tasting fees, that amount to $40. Our host is was pleasant but owner rulers didn t allow for him to waive our fees! Would not recommend for this reason only club members friendly!

We had a reservation for a tasting on the patio. Upon arrival there was one table of 6 that was open on the patio. The individual that greeted us looked around and said we could sit inside. No one was inside. I inquired about the outside More

Great winery in incredible setting. The wines are crafted with an eye to close to perfect balance and although drinkable now, they will age beautifully. This is Pinot Noir country at its best but they also serve some nice whites and a couple big reds from Red Mountain.

The wine is good, but the service doesn t go above and beyond. Having been once before they opened the new tasting room, I was a bit disappointed that it lost the charm it once had. The architecture is a bit dated/rustic/typical but the views are gorgeous.

Wow! Such a pretty location. All the wine was great - but that's beside the point. Carly was such a gem. She made our tasting experience so fun. Come for the view and stay for the staff and wine.

The Solena tasting room is beautiful and the setting is fantastic. And yes, all of the tasting room staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they produce. Particularly Al Richbourg, who has an impressive knowledge of the of local wine scene, and is one of the nicest guys in the business.

But the real reason to visit Solena is the wine, which is arguably some of the best produced in Oregon. Laurent is one of the most talented and prolific winemakers in the Willamette Valley. After perfecting his craft at wineries in France and Napa, he joined Willakenzie Estate for several years before opening Solena in 2003, and also creates equally excellent wines at Hyland Estates. I ve visited several wineries in the valley in my 25 years in the PDX area, and none are better, which is why I m a wine club member for life.

Thanks Laurent and team!

Wonderful place to taste their very nice wines and have your lunch (that you have brought with you). Knowledgeable staff & nice size pours of 5 wines ($20 fee) in very comfortable surroundings. Views of the nearby vineyards & a large pond (small lake?). They have a gorgeous commercial kitchen that you can use for a tasting & lunch (if you have connections). Great outdoor spaces on the deck and in the grassy area outside the backside of the tasting room. I definitely recommend this place while you are in the Willamette Valley.

Excellent wine and very cozy tasting room. You can see a neighboring vineyard and lake from the patio and a nice secluded wooded area next to the building with more seating and a fire pit for when it's cooler. The winery's vineyard is up the hill and the owners live up that same hill. The pours are also more than generous for the tastings. Definitely a place to stop by while enjoying wine country!
