Wonderful stay in this place out of time, which gives a glimpse of what happiness can be. Friendly staff, smiling and attentive, view of the Nile and the ruins that nothing can alter, access to a small port within the hotel for a felucca ride at sunset, infinity pool on the Nile, in short , magical !

This place is really amazing. It is a piece of art that reflects the historical nature of the place along with the French style. It is really mesmerizing to have you tea in the terrace watching sunset beyond the west bank. Their signature restaurant, 1902 is a must to experience place. Staff helpfulness and friendliness completes this beautiful portrait.

This place is the true "paradise" on the planet earth! We stayed there for 3 days, and enjoyed every minute of our time. Amazing Nile river view pool, savory breakfast, wonderful restaurants, courteous staff, and super comfortable and luxury rooms. We enjoyed our time during our visit in Sep 2018, and look forward to revisiting soon.

This hotel deserves the LEGEND status without doubt. Unlike many, this hotel has amazing views, historic significance with all modern conveniences and sophistication. It was a pleasure to enjoy the elegance of this location, service and indulgence. We hope to return soon.

It is a very pleasant surprise of a trip to Egypt that will never cease to amaze. Eight hundred English style elegance surrounds you and you let yourself be lulled by emotions that are charging your heart and your memory. Returning from Abu Simbel there is nothing more pleasant than occupying a sun lounger by the pool and observing the evolution of feluccas that furrow the Nile. The sun gets low and blinks on the extracted obelisk not far away. It feels really lucky. Outside the lives of Aswan merchants and now nothing or almost amazes you of the smells or aphores that mix with the colors in an inimitable picture

The hotel was amazing. It really does not get much better in terms of views than this hotel. The rooms in the Palace wing were extravagent and fantastic. One note of caution, the service is a little relaxed in the Summer as it seems they run with a quarter their normal staff size. However the rather reasonable price point makes it worth the hassle.

a dream, as in a movie. The colonial side is preserved, it seems to change time, early crazy years. first a glass overlooking the Nile, then a gourmet meal on the terrace, a marvel. The personal is very caring

No place is perfect. The concierge was either absent or didn't speak enough English to understand our requests. The tourists wandering through the lobby just rubbernecking detracted from my experience as a guest. The waiters on the terrace tended to be slow and sometimes forgetful - maybe they were understaffed. All that being said, it is a regal place with a storied past and every other staff member was attentive and pleasant. Definitely worth a visit.

If you are in Aswan for a few days, have a drink at the hotel old Cataract. Watch the sunset on the terrace with a beautiful view of the island of Elephatine. The hotel can only be visited from 4 pm. If there are no high-ranking people, you can always ask behind a tour. This nostalgic hotel built in 1899 has so much beauty that it is not surprising that the largest of the earth have stayed here.

As usual....home away from home. The Sofitel Legend staff here at Old Cateract is exceptional! We have visited several Sofitel operated hotels but that personal connection is just not the same. From the security control to house keeping; they really care.

Of real luxury, the rooms are huge, they look like a house, the hotel has the charm of when the English were in Egypt, the restaurant is fine, but it is expensive for what they offer, and of course, the wifi is improvable and the reception of television too.
