Hotels in the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Area in Shanghai ... if you want to live directly in the shopping area ... nice here ... the rooms are also pretty good

Overall the stay was ok. The check-in staff were friendly and helpful but it seemed they were rushed and under staffed. The hotel decor is dated and the hotel is pretty beige. The view from my room was excellent and it was a short walk to East Nanjing Road Metro Station. Walking out of the hotel onto Nanjing Road made us a target for the husslers trying to sell watches and bags. Overall it was a bit of a mixed stay.

1. Breakfast is not rich, it is not worth the price, and often lacks the East and West, you have to verbally ask them to make up, and then will not inform you.

2. The room cleaning is very casual, you will ask if you need to clean the carpet in the room.

3. The room has been hearing the sound of the door open and closed, it is the kind of collision, and found that their door is so bad.

4. The hair dryer is old-fashioned, big and heavy.

5. The guest room bed is not a separate single tube. The next person will turn over the whole bed and it will sway. The shallow sleep is bad.

6. Have the same budget suggestion to look at other homes, or add some money to live with others, don't spend money to buy crimes.

Stayed there countless times for business trips! Rooms are quite big and luxurious. Love the breakfast spread. Right on to the pedestrian nanjing road. Only bad point is that it is hard to get a taxi to go to work in the morning

It was okay hotel, the room was fine enough and its location is amazing. Just in the middle of nanjingdonglu.

Great location but very crowded area. Staff are very friendly but unprofessional: in the restaurant, they never got orders right even in Chinese language. Wrong invoice of wash bag for another room was lying on the bed in my room. Rooms are pretty run down: old and stained facilities... reasonable for the price...

Shocking shocking shocking shocking. We lost our wallet with $6000 at the bar and we got no assistance from the hotel to find it. They refused to help us check the video footage and denied us access of it. I travel a lot and I m a platinum member with Accor. They lost my business forever. Since this incidence I have been to Shanghai over 11 times and have used over 70 bed nights in another hotel close to Sofitel.Shame

The hotel is right in the heart of Nanjing Road, perfect for shopping, but beware of the dissolute ones who offer sex massages especially for single men. The setting of the hotel is beautiful, rooms are spotless, the buffet at breakfast is very good. But as nothing is perfect, carefully check the price of the services we offer you inside the hotel and in the shops nearby, you may be surprised! Last, take the time to communicate well with the staff to avoid misunderstandings.

The hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. The breakfast in the executive lounge is lacking. The suites are small and overpriced. The closet is barely enough for one person. The only reason to stay here is it's location. It's in the perfect spot if you want to do some shopping on Shanghais biggest shopping strip. It's only 10-15minutes walk to The Bund.
We paid on average 2700RMB a night for our 5 night stay. The fact that the front desk made a point of pointing out we made a local call from the room and had to be charged for it was another slap in the face.

Tip: stay in a real 5 star hotel in Pudong and catch the metro (it's only one stop) to nanjing Rd if you feel the need to do some shopping.

Location is excellent, on main Nanjing east road, the famous shopping pedestrian street. Rooms are spacious but not modren. Foid is ok

The location is also ideal for both touristy stuff and commuting into the business district in Lujiazui.

Great location, close to shops, stores and restaurants. Nice view from the hotel. Rooms are not really big but really clean and comfy.

I have stayed at the Sofitel Hyland in Shanghai twice now and both times have been a great experience. On my second trip, I was very unwell. However, Edwin and his team went above and beyond to make me feel as comfortable as possible and made me feel cared for. I would highly recommend staying here.

Great location BUT rude service, old rooms, bad value for money, old executive lounge, horrible breakfast at lounge (worst in any Accor hotel so far). I don't even understand how they can keep the Sofitel logo. Most Novotel will have better rooms and service

The location is excellent, right on the central pedestrianized Nankin Road. It is 3 minutes walk to the metro (line 2 leads to both Shanghai airports and the exhibition center). Nice but expensive restaurant on the 2nd floor. The $ 76 buffet is a little expensive for Shanghai. I really liked the club floors with access to the lounge on the 30th floor, where breakfast is served separately, you can have tea, coffee and a snack during the day - drink something stronger between lunch and dinner. There is a meeting room, business center, computers, printers, etc.
The staff understands and speaks English and French. I have never had any communication problems.
The rooms on the club floors are small but very cozy. Quite quiet and clean autumn.
Panoramic view of Shanghai - all buildings around are much lower.

Love the location, rooms are good, staff is decent. The breakfast buffet is phenomenal. The fresh baked breads, pastries, stations full of delicious food. Beautiful dining room overlooking people's square. So good.

Excellent service but the air conditioning of the rooms is unmanageable. In the winter, it is obligatorily 25, it is simply unbearable. You have to sleep open window. With the ambient noise, it is not won! The problem has been going on for years.

Location cannot be beat as situated at Nanjing Road and 15-minute walk to the Bund.

Had read that staff not so friendly before the stay. However due to brand reputation and superb location, had decided to take the risk and try. Indeed, I had met with some arrogant, rude and unprofessional staff when I was asking for direction of the gym and spa facilities.
Won t recommend this hotel if you are looking for some warm and friendly stay.

The room is big, the gym is good, but after all, it is the old hotel, some lights in the room are broken and not repaired.

The hotel is a bit old, but the afternoon tea in the Executive Lounge is quite warm. The service was good, just staying for two nights, the hotel only made one night's points, and the service had to keep up.

Avoid. Not sure what the management is intending here.

We had pretty bad overall experience staying @this hotel. I had to move to a different room because someone was smoking on my floor and in this process I was given a reg room instead of a suite and it took some convincing for the rate to be recalculated @ the check out.
Toilet in the room created a big flood in the middle of the night and I noticed the previous stains on the floor from many previous similar incidents.
It's impossible to get a cab @this hotel and hotel personnel was completely unable to help.
The first room before someone started profusely smoking had very distinct order of sewer system being in need of attention. I was told @the front desk "It happens every so often ".
A hotel with a minimal service like this one can t be called a "luxury hotel ".
Good location . Very convenient but expect to be hustled by numerous vendors offering dubious services and useless merchandise even on the steps leading to the front door of the hotel.

Really enjoyed the stay here. Hotel room decor dated but still in good condition. Bathrooms clean and hotel room spacious. Also in great location. Mix of old and new Shanghai.

Due to the water stop at home, I stayed at the Sofitel Helen Hotel for 3 days. The Platinum Card was upgraded to the suite. Although the first 2,505 suites were not provided, but the 1510 was given, the next 2 days More

There is an exchange machine in sofitel which can help you especially when banks are closed.

Excellent location, located on the central pedestrian street that leads to the riverside for the panoramic view of the skyscrapers. Very helpful staff, not very large rooms with a little antique furniture but still comfortable. Very good price for the location

It is a magical hotel we find everything in French, the personele is very competent. The club formula is really advantageous, the hotel is on Nanjing road, ve which makes its ideal location in Shanghai.

Just staying 7 nights in this place and is an horrible place to stay... Room dirty and shower room with mold, safe and lights not working, gym and spa don t work (sauna and steam room only and both broken) staff rude and don t speack English, management unhelpful and don t know what to do anwser customers complains. Will never stay again and advise everyone that use Accor group to don t book here as that s not up to standers of any other hotel of the group. In one word ... disgusting!

Nice but nothing exceptional. Quite small room but clean. Deco a little faded. Great location on nanjing road. Moderately friendly staff ... we clearly feel that this is "the factory" with a lot of traffic.

Great location. Efficient and courteous check-in and service. Excellent selections and quality of food at breakfast buffet. We have an one-bedroom suite and enjoy it. Views from the Club Lounge are excellent. Facilities are a bit dated.

Fabolous Hotel. I was robbed around the city and without calling the police the security helped me to catch the robber and recover my money

Situated on the East Nanjing Road it is a nice stay. The hotel staff is proactive and a call away. Rooms are slightly smaller than what I expected. Deducting a star as I believed that they gave me a used blanked with a chewing gum sticking to it.

The best part is the evening view. You can see the Bund and if you look out of the window you'll find visitors on the east nanjing road(one of the most happening market places)

I loved this hotel it was really nice and breakfast was great. It is located perfectly on a busy street with lotsa of shops and good links with a station near by. I would say you can get better value then this hotel but it is very nice.

EXCELLENT BUSINESS HOTEL

The hotel is located quite centrally with access to metro within 5 mins of walking. The exit of the hotel is Nanjing Road which is a good place to shop, hop and eat. Banking is very easy on Nanjing Road and around the hotel. The rooms are reasonable and value for money considering the brand. The staff are quite courteous. The first meal of the day, BREAKFAST SPREAD is moderate but apt.
Most important access to 7 Eleven is just round the corner or you could say below the hotel where all your essentials can be brought.

Stayed March 2015, travelled on business

Hotel is in a superb location right on the Nanjing West Road. Walk right out into shops, malls, restaurants and a great view day or night. You can also walk down to the Bund or to two nearby subway stations.
I don't recommend the hotel restaurants, expensive and dubious. Lots of really good restaurants elsewhere in the city and so close by.
Service was alright, not as good as Sofitel Hangzhou, and some other hotels I stayed at, which is quite disappointing.
Room was small and weird. Acceptable for this price. The sound proofing totally sucks. Apparently they told me to turn down the TV as it was disturbing the neighbours but I didnt even turn up the volume high. All in all, location is okay but lots of improvements possible.

Bed too hard and pillows too soft. Not a good night's sleep

The old five-star hotel in the city center is located on the pedestrian street of Nanjing East Road. It has been renovated for a long time. The room is small and the service is very good for the members. The lounge check-in helps to upgrade the suite. The spare parts are Hermes. , easy to use!

Strategic location adjacent to Nanjing East Road where you can have a stroll to the Bund with plenty shopping malls around. Choices for breakfast are pretty good. Check-in was a bit slow but smooth check-out though. Air conditioning did not work well, perhaps it was an isolated case.
