The food was great! The music was a tad too loud

The shrimp poboy not all that great however the fried chicken and Red Waffles was by far the best I've had. The mac and cheese was good also a different taste

This spot had been bookmarked for months and I was excited about trying the food after reading all the rave reviews. I ordered the chicken and waffles that were really good. I also ordered a side of the $9 mac and cheese based on the rave reviews from yelp and was greatly disappointed. The mac and cheese was truly a let down and waste of money. The ambience of the restaurant is cool and the staff were friendly. Prices were affordable and I would return and wont touch that mac n cheese.

Came here for a birthday party on a Sunday. Sunday brunch is all day. I had the F-Que Wings and the Mac & Cheese which everyone seems to rave about. I also got a free order of cornbread with honey butter with my Yelp check-in. Everything was good but my only critiques would be the dry cornbread which I'm glad was free and the tzatiki dipping sauce for the wings. The sauce was good it just doesn't seem an ideal dipping sauce for the wings. I appreciate the fact that it's a Black owned establishment and that the servers were so eager to please. The manager is also buzzing around constantly making sure everything is running smoothly. P.S. get the red sangria it's delish

It was a young and hip. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The drinks were excellent although expensive. It however not located in the best location, the closest train in the G train.

Came here for brunch. The red velvet waffles were excellent. Doesn't have the same vibe as your typical trendy brunch spot.

Nice little spot, but a bit too small for the crowds it attracts. Had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. That said, the food was great. Had their French toast and it was like a piece of heaven in my mouth.

Got the Asian BBQ chicken with a side of Mac n cheese. It was a pretty amazing Mac n cheese I believe they put some garlic in there adding to the flavor which I love.

Had a great time, wait time was fair, servers excellent ,would recommend offering corn bread or even bread while waiting on appetizers or meal...Food was awesome I would highly recommend it small or large group

I went there for my birthday weekend and had a great time... music not to loud so you talk to friends, food was so edible Please Don't Sleep on that Mac n Cheese omg it was so good. I can't wait to go again I try so more od their great menu.

Decent spot with great customer service. Waiter was beyond attentive and gave advice on menu. Gumbo appetizer is delicious and will fill you up, deviled eggs presentation is nice but flavor was just salt...Main course Blackened Salmon...Delicious and flavorful!!! Would get it again.

The service was AMAZING. The server was so attentive. It really made for a great experience. I ordered the chicken and Waffles. The chicken was AMAZING the waffles were more of a cake like consistency, still really good but I wished it was more waffle like. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich and it was great. It was packed with chicken and the fries were so good!

The food and drinks were great!!! But the wait time for a seat and to get your order taken is outrageous!! Make sure you make reservations

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. The menu has recently gone through an upgrade, and so has management. Nonetheless, The quality of food, has remained perfect. The flavors, spices of the dishes I've eaten are savory, give me a nostalgic feeling of when I use to visit my Big Ma in South Carolina and eat her delicious southern traditional recipes. Some of the dishes also remind me of my wanderlust visits to the Caribbean. The menu gets me as a foodie, Chef, and my cultural roots. Brunch is by far one of thee best options I've experienced. If you're in Brooklyn come by! My daughter Loves this place too. We do a lot of Mommy daughter, dinner dates here. In fact, my whole family loves this restaurant. As for servers, I've only had one energetic encounter with one of the Servers, who seems to be very distant, but in observing, he may consider himself being extremely focused on his job. Though he can stand to be a bit more attentive to the folks he's serving. Other than that, the staff, servers are always accommodating.

I dined at Soco on A Tuesday evening and to my suprise it was pretty packed. We chose to be seated in the outdoor part which was pretty cute but it was a limited space so if you like room then the outdoor part is not for you. They really had some interesting cocktails on the menu. We ordered fried oysters which really good but not worth the price to me. I had the red velvet waffles with fried chicken which was a big portion of food. Me and my friend end up sharing a side of macaroni & cheese which was the best damn mac n cheese I've had on planet earth. Definitely considering going there again.

Had to scour the menu for vegetarian options but the options were delicious. The host, Maurice, was very friendly and accommodating. Other members of the staff were very friendly and professional as well. Our waitress seemed overworked and grumpy (everybody has those days) Overall good food, good vibes, good music, REALLY good drinks. Worth checking out.

Thank you for the memories Gia! Service was great and my father shared a wonderful meal on his birthday with his children. Now let me say that pricing is incorrect from the website to the restaurant. There were at least 3 items we ordered that were a buck or 2 more than the website pricing. And a $20 cake cutting charge is absurd and i didn't see that anywhere on the website. And we ordered a burger and paid $1 fee seperate from the $18 meal! C'mon really? This place is making bank and its a shame that there pinching even for a glass of water. COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF! AMAZING EATS! The staff was wonderful! To the owner, your overcharging your customers.

This place is pretty amazing! Came for their all day brunch on Sunday and the vibe there was awesome. There was an phenomenal violinist playing the tunes that day and the crowd was feeling every song. This was my second visit and I had to get the red velvet chicken and waffles again. Couldn't have asked for more! The chicken was seasoned and cooked well, and the waffles were soft, warm and delicious. I also had the Mac and cheese, which could be a meal by itself! No complaints there. Wish they had a bottomless deal, however I like this place alot. Will be back again and again!

I thought the atmosphere and the music (70s, 80s) was relaxing. I ordered fish and chips (fried catfish and they give you a mound of Cajun fries), and 2 sides - collard greens and jalapeno corn muffins (you get 3). The piece of fried catfish was small but was seasoned nicely and was very good. However, I found it a bit greasy. The Cajun fries, just a light dusting of Cajun seasoning, tasted fresh and good. I loved the jalapeno corn muffins with the sweet butter. Though the collard greens were very good, they were very sweet, so I put a bit of hot sauce on them, that cut some of the sweetness. I gave 4 stars also because no sides came with the meals, we had to pay for each side. On the up side, the sides portions are enough for 2 people. I would recommend this place.

Food was decent. I had the shrimp and lobster with grits and it was tasty. The only annoying part was the fly that bugged us the ENTIRE time.. but that wasn't their fault in the least. I do wish there was a tiny bit more portion but I was starving lol. Prices weren't horrible.

I like this place for the vibe and the food but it is a bit pricey, almost unnecessarily so. There are certainly other great food options more reasonably priced. I also went there one evening and there were only a few diners so most of the tables were available. We still had a 15-20 minute wait only to be seated at a table that we saw was available all along. That was a little frustrating because they never did explain why there was a wait.

Great atmosphere. Good food. Good service. The food was not 'amazing' per se - I has the blackened salmon and I felt it needed more seasoning. I also tried their wings. They were nice but I wish they were a bit more moist and flavoursome inside. It was mainly covered in their sticky sauce which tastes good - the chicken just needed to be more moist and seasoned inside. Would still recommend to go - their fried chicken and red velvet waffles looks delightful.

I'm sitting in a faraway place out there in NY state, a place they call Long Island. I will not be having this. Long Island is a far departure from the hectic busy life of Manhattan, so I drove long and far to get to Brooklyn and get me some classic chicken and waffles. SoCo is a trendier version of Roscoe's. When Roscoe's gives you big plate, bit portions, SoCo gives you big plate and not-as-big portions. No matter, the food was pretty delicious. I had the staple, the popular, the legendary: -=-Buttermilk Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles-=- $18. Good, expensive, but unique. Who will not bow down to Red Velvet waffles. It was soft, but lightly not-overly sweet. The chicken on top was really the highlight here though. It was not oily at all for something fried. There is a definite emphasis on the "buttermilk" part of the name. The chicken meat itself was soft and went down pretty easily despite the constant food gorging of my NY trip. Maya was my server at the bar, and she was attentive for the most part at during the busy hour that I was there. She offered the Mother's Milk Beer on tap which was a good compliment to my meal. Hell, beer is good with anything. If you find yourself in Brooklyn and don't want to make the hours-long wait at Grimaldi, check this place out.

Good food and atmosphere but slow service. It took about 25 minutes for my food to arrive. I ordered the wings, mac and cheese, and collard greens. Collards were mediocre and they wouldn't take them off my tab. Had a great cocktail with whiskey and strawberry puree.

THE REASON I liked theSoco.Is that it's a laid back spot for many Family members and Friends to get together.

I was here celebrating my birthday/on a date and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. It was my second time there so I feel confident saying their food is of consistently good quality. Our only snag was with the host (white man with a man bun is the best description I can offer), who was cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming; instead of greeting us as we came in, his first thought was to tell us that they were booked. He then walked away before we could reply and my boyfriend had to follow him, get his attention, and inform him that we did in fact have a reservation. As far as making solid first impressions, he did not meet the basic standards of a good host. Luckily, we didn't have to speak to him again and received wonderful service from our server who was kind, professional, and charming.

Nice atmosphere, it has made a lot of additions and changes since the soft opening. The Brunch is incredible, but it does get very loud and is not a sit and chill atmosphere.

Upon the high recommendations of my friend I decided to try out Soco and I was very happy that I did. The food: We ordered the red velvet chicken and waffles, the mac and cheese, and the brisket. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned and the red velvet waffle was ok, but nothing extremely special. The brisket was spicy and tender and paired well with the collard greens and mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious - like probably the best I have EVER eaten... I wish I could accurately put into words how amazing it was, but instead I just recommend that you come here yourself, like today, and try it. You will be blown away. The price: The prices were standard for NYC - for the food and one drink, it came to just under $100 with tip. The staff: We ate at the bar because it was packed on a Saturday night and we were hungry, so we interacted with the hostess and bartender only. The hostess was extremely friendly and even checked in on us. The bartender although very busy was friendly as well. The only downside was that the food was delivered a little slowly from the kitchen. Overall, a good experience and definitely worth coming back another time. They have a good variety of southern foods on the menu that I am excited to try out (and I will definitely be back for the mac and cheese!)

Amazing food, fun atmosphere and divine drinks. If you have a group make sure to make reservations excuse you will not be seated until your entire party is there. The staff is super friendly and brunch there was a highlight. Make sure you like the people you are dining with because it is cozy. The white cheddar grits with shrimp and lobster, their famous red velvet waffle with fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and cornbread were all nothing short of heavenly. If you are in the tequila mood delve into the he Hibiscus Agave Margarita you won't be disappointed.

It's always a wonderful experience every time I visit soco. I remember one time they had someone playing the violin beautiful I wish I had that person at my wedding

Food was pretty good but took a little while to come out. A young lady performed a few songs which was cool.

Been going there for a couple of years, usually I get the same thing chicken and waffles or the lobster, shrimp and grits. I tried the B54 burger, didn't like it at all. Tasted like a soft, thick, meatloaf patty. The fries were horrible too. Bland no taste at all. Fortunately the rest of the food was fine. I'll be back.

The food is really good and well presented. I usually get the chicken and waffles but the French fries came out a little too hard other than that, everything else is good.

Wait was long but when the error was noticed the staff took care of it and the manager personally made sure we were taken care of. When the food arrived to say it was delicious is an understatement. The BEST chicken and waffles I've ever had and I've been to some popular spots. If you're in Brooklyn definitely check out soco.
