Snowdon Deli Review

Proper deli food by people who know deli. Not a formulaic, concept restaurant. Been around for decades.

MY go to spot for deli when I am in Montreal. Forget the place on The Main in The Plateau, if you want a real Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich this is the place.

Couldn't get in, no wheelchair access. Was cold out so it wasn't fun, but still waited for our take-out

Ordered the 2 Eggs Combo that came with Smoked Meat. Lots of food and very tasty (careful of the house made hot mustard as it's spicier than you think). Found the meat more flavorful than Schwartz but not quite as fatty. The service was also amazing! The server was very attentive and treated everyone like an old friend. Will be coming back again whenever I'm back in Montreal.

For sure the best brisket, and by extension brisket sandwich, I have ever had. Like, mouth watering good. I thought portions were small at first but boy did it hit the spot just right plus the endless fries they dish out. Been living here 6 years and my only regret is not going sooner. It's amazing.

A very good smoked meat sandwich, which is what I always get here. And I have been coming here for decades. Never disappointed; always good.

Came in for a smokemeat and fries, it was ready in less then 5 minutes and one of the best I had! An employee also gave me a free Jewish desert to try and it was very good. I will come back for sure.

My absolute favourite restaurant. Delicious food, friendly staff, classic and authentic environment. I eat here at least once a week usually and have never been let down. Go here

Came here after a day full of walking for hours. Got immediately seated and ordered the smoked meat sandwich with onion rings. The sandwich was so good, I had to order a second one. This deli serves the best smoked meat sandwiches in the world.

We stop whenever we can for a smoked meat sandwich, bagels, and rugelach. I never tell the children or my husband about the rugelach because I eat a lot before I finish driving home. There is no reason to explain why a box is half empty if I scarf it down before I get home. If I don't finish it that night, I buy a nice coffee and go on a drive the next morning, gobbling the rest of the rugelach. Nobody has hurt feelings! In my mind, my accountant is making me fat because I buy more when I visit him during tax season.

An absolutely fantastic deli with friendly staff and absolutely fantastic food. Very well priced for what you get. Portion sizes are definetly big enough to be filling, but if you have a big appetite the sandwich alone might not be enough and it is better to go with a platter.

One of my all time favourite sandwiches is the Snowden Deli stuffed chicken sandwich. They have many tasty dishes on the menu and I recommend it all as I ve tried it all so I m in a position to make that recommendation. But I specifically like and I am vouching for the stuffed chicken sandwich. It s next level lunch right there. I personally do it no mustard because I m silly that way but you can get it how it comes with some mustard. You won t be disappointed.

Forget the Schwartz queue! While it's not downtown, but the price, the quality and the portions served will make you come back for sure!
Slight flat on the waiting time before a waitress comes to take the order ..... but quickly caught up with the efficiency of the service in the kitchen, HAPPILY!

Bad experience here. Restaurant sal. Qq1 was constantly cleaning up the side and was very disturbing.

Fantastic deli - very friendly staff, clean, and incredible food. Worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood, as a few others have mentioned the smoked meat platter is 10/10.

A friend of mine decried that she couldn't believe I hadn't been to Snowdon Deli. Went today for the first time (and there will be more) and absolutely loved it. Excellent sandwich, matzo ball soup, pickle, and fries for a very reasonable price. Discovered they have breakfast and will be trying that out too! I am really glad I went today.

The smoked meat sandwiches at this spot are top notch. The meat is cooked to perfection and is extremely tender and flavourful.

The customer service was also exceptional and the staff made us feel very welcome.

I highly recommend this place.

I ll take Snowdon deli over Schwartz any day of the week.

The smoked meat poutine was amazing. The best poutine ever. The staff is very friendly and prices are very reasonable. This place has been around for a long time and has a lot of regular customers as the staff were greeting people by name. I would highly recommend trying the deli sandwiches which are also very popular. You can also get some meat for take out.
The dining area is clean and comfortable and service was super quick!

Great Jewish style deli. Parking is a night of a hassle, but it's worth it. The takeout side has lots of variety.

Wow. Amazing smoked meat and poutine. In my opinion a million times better than Dunnes, Reuben's, or Schwarz's. Way more authentic experience too. Cannot recommend enough! Snowdon's is now a staple on any visit I make to MTL moving forward

As a patron of both Snowdon and Centre St. Deli -- the quality is great, speed is fantastic, consistency is perfect.

HOWEVER -- For such an efficiently run restaurant, the payout process is far from optimal. There is no reason it should take 15minutes for a line of 8 people to payout their separate bills. 25% of the time spent during the dining experience is just paying your bills.

Excellent food! Classic stop in Montreal! Brought a group of 16 people. Service was great! Food was prompt. 10/10 would go again.

My go to place for Smoked meat, suggested by my grandparents who live in Montreal. I prefer Snowdon to Schwartz s any day, as it s juicy, thick cut and like heaven in my mouth. Their spicy sweet mustard is also phenomenal, we bring it all back home with us each time we visit.

Among the best smoked meat in the Montreal region, the fries are crisp, tasty, the old fashioned atmosphere that we see less and less in restaurants. A must for tourists. Price a little more expensive than the average. Parking can be complicated.

Basically who doesn t love a great deli? This place out of all the delis I been to in Montreal is tops! Kept hearing great things about this place and decided to walk in one day. Basically this a no frills type of place and serves classic breakfast with classic lunch and dinner deli options. The place is always jammed packed with regulars and has a lot of traditional Jewish North American delicacies. I had the smoke meat sandwich on a bagel and it was WOW! If u in the mood for great tasting food that doesn t break the bank and is unique to Montreal check out this place!

I stop in for a smoked meat sandwich and fries whenever I visit Montreal and am always impressed with the consistency of quality and service. Sometimes it feels like time stood still with this restaurant as it is as good today as it was decades ago.

I made my order in the morning. They put it in our car at noon with a smile.
Impossible to park there, especially at noon. Mid afternoon is probably safer bet. Food fresh and delish! Recommend smoked whitefish salad and no place makes party sandwiches like they do- they use good salmon and tuna

Seriously the best surprise when I discovered their latkes, better than hashbrowns which is saying something. Go for breakfast or brunch, but my dinner experience wasn't as ideal.

Amazing little deli right on the Decaire. Went in for some breakfast with the family and was not disappointed in anyway. Great food, big portions for the value, helpful/friendly service in a timely manner. Also the deli counter has so much to offer so you can take home the same awesome food and then some. Will be back soon enough!

For those who are tired of the lineups at the Celine Dion-owned Schwart's Deli downtown, this is a Zagat-rated neighbourhood restaurant worth checking out. While, it doesn't have the same ambience as Schwartz's, where you can almost see the ghost of Leonard Cohen, the smoked meat at Snowdon deli is of equal (if slightly different) quality. I know because put myself through university cutting smoked meat!
