Stayed 2 nights for our family wedding. I can say the wedding, the reception meal was superb, and the breakfast to die for, staff and reception staff were very friendly and helpful. So why only 3 /5 .The room 42 was not so good, it was a More

Lovelly place serving great food with a well stocked bar. We stayed overnight for a friend's wedding and found the room to be clean and comfortable with a nice selection of drinks to make with the kettle supplied. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again
Awful. Dark and dingy. Furniture all needs replacing. Greasey dirty worn arm rests are unacceptable. Look at photos of bar, lounges and restaurant at this hotel: Hotel Ta' Cenc & Spa on Gozo. Smith's a wedding venue ? Not on your life.
Absolutly enjoyed our stay in this hotel for my besties wedding at Gretna Green, rooms are lovely & spacious, breakfast was perfect, staff very freindly, would definitly stay here again.
Supposed to be a 4 star hotel, service was shocking. Told we had to book a table for dinner, did this and when we went to the restaurant were told we had no booking, at which point 2 separate groups walked in and got a table without bookings.
Waited an hour for another table and then 45 minutes just to have order taken despite asking numerous times. Waitresses try and impose covid rules but seems to be one rule for one and another for everyone else. A group of lads were sat having drinks in the dining room (even though we were told alcohol only with food) 2 separate waitresses were hugging the group of lads after bringing peoples food out and while carrying drinks for other tables. Told no alcohol after 8pm, however the above group were able to order what they like what ever time they wanted, not once ordering food.
Not a single member of the cleaning staff were wearing face masks and when asked about this, they shrugged it off and laughed.
The good points...hotel was clean and rooms were generally of a 4 star standard.
Not really the best experience and hope this helps others in future when thinking about staying at 'Smiths at Gretna Green'
Love this hotel. Staff are great, friendly and helpful. Food is excellent. Some room decor is a little tired looking but everything about the place makes up for that.
Great hotel we got married here at short notice due to covid restrictions. Rooms were excellent Staff were Friendly and Helpful, Restaurant was 5star for evening meals and breakfast. I'd recommend The Goat Cheese and Beetroot starter one of the best starters I've ever eaten. We shall return on our anniversary hopefully get a suite this time.. 10 out of 10
Historic place that is still in operation, we renewed our wedding vows, the service was exceptional and all the staff involved were helpfull, had a really memorable day.
A truly wonderful experience from the moment we arrived polite reception staff Rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable and well appointed. The bar and waiting staff are a credit to the business and nothing is a problem. Would highly recommend this hotel and hope to vist again soon a big thank you for making our special day perfect.
We were there for our son's wedding and stayed in one of the onsite cottages close to the blacksmiths wedding room which were above our expectations, food and service was brilliant, would recommend this venue.
Attended Smiths for a business meeting was very impressed with the facilities. Everything was clean and well maintained and the staff were excellent. Will have more meetings here in future.
Had a fab time here for a friend's wedding. Stayed in one of the cottage rooms which were amazing. Good food and fluorescent cocktails, what more could you want?!?
Regular guests here. Great concept and well worth a trip. Only issue, which I mention every time...a door sign says "Toilets Beauty Salon"...doesn't read very well. I must be on some kind of spectrum...
Have stayed at Smith's previously and had a fabulous time but when stayed last night was very disappointed to be told that no food was available until after 8pm because they were having a Christmas party night fair enough but surely they should still cater for the other guests especially when they have travelled over 200miles sorry but it spoiled the end of our holiday
Food was brilliant but seriously bad customer service, people were smoking in their rooms, people smoking out the front door which directly affected us in the rooms, fights 2am in the morning outside the room windows with police ambulances the lot
My daughter had her wedding here and it was everything she wanted, the rooms were lovley the food really nice and they catered really well for her gluton and dairy allergies , they thought off everything for her .
I love Gretna Green and its restaurant. I have never had a bad meal. Staff are amazing, Well done to Aunty Pauline & Bobi at the desk. Really helpful and jolly. Couldn't ask for a better team. We'll done
Staff were friendly helpful & welcoming and such a professional wedding service Food excellent . Delighted with our wedding suite. Big thank you to Rachel front desk so helpful
Lovely overnight here, room service and breakfast were good. Staff helpful and pleasant. The Only minus was the smell of cigarette smoke in corridor. We were in room 38, hopefully just a "one of", we will be back.
Stayed for 2 nights for our wedding in the Bensmoor Suites number 4. We had breakfast, 2 course tea on the first night and a 3 course meal with wine on our wedding night. The cottage was amazing, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The food was beautiful both in taste and presentation and cooked to perfection and the staff very helpful and friendly. We will be back on our anniversaries!
A very nice place with weddings taken place all day.i found some of the staff to b very unhappy. Drinks and meals very expensive situated just across the road from ye old black smiths shop.i must say that the bridal suite was gorgeous, fantastic views
The room was stunning... ask for no. 46 if ur a smoker as have lovely enclosed balcony.. it's December and I'm outside my room without a coat !! Food was lovely. Staff friendly.. what more do you want ??
Could not fault SMITHS we got married and the blacksmiths shop and had our reception here. The rooms were lovely and clean and the staff were on point. Best day of my life and my wife's
A lovely hotel with great hospitality. The hotel room itself was very spacious, including a bath and a separate wardrobe area. The car park could have done with some security measures, i.e., CCTV. The hotel bar/restaurant offered a great variety of food at different prices, the curry was great however, I wasn't expecting that much of a kick (it would be nice for a level of spice to be mentioned). The breakfast was well supplied however, the kitchen lights were in my direct vision and had meant I had to crouch over in the shadow of the coloum as it was giving me a mild headache. Overall, it was a great stop over and the outlet down the road made it worth coming to.
We enjoyed a lovely overnight stat at this hotel. It is tastefully decorated, if a little dark. We had a tasty dinner choosing the chicken and haggis and the baked halibut in lobster chowder - both delicious. A great range of cocktails The Scottish breakfast , with haggis, was a treat. Staff were professional and efficient. The waitress at breakfast was particularly helpful. The hotel has the necessary precautions in place to help prevent Covid.
