Very happy with Smeg aftercare service. I've previously had some faults with my oven, toaster and kettle. They promptly organised direct new product replacements to be couriered to my home with no fuss - even after the product warranty had expired. I've never received such great aftercare service from any other appliance or white goods company. Thanks Smeg Australia!

Horrible experience with SMEG with brand new cook ...

Horrible experience with SMEG with brand new cook top at our new apartment. Faulty installation was done by technician in the first place with the flame turning off when the knob is released. Have been suffering with not able to cook properly for weeks and customer service is pathetic. Did two visits after endless calling and still they are not giving any sort of dates as to when they will be able to fix it. On top of that they give less than 10 mins of notice when coming and if we cant make it, another week goes!!. So stay away if you can. Not recommended.

EDIT: SMEG was kind enough to note my review and were prompt in their service after and re-assured us that this was a one-off. My cooktop was inspected by a Senior Technician and replaced within a few days, so frankly I am quite happy to see it working now! Changing to 3 stars. Thanks Karen/Sam.
No fuss so far. Happy to give 4 stars.

I definitely do not recommend this overpriced appliance retailer!
4 year old microwave with average house hold use, stopped heating we called the service repair line. They sent a repair man out $99 call out fee + $22 every 10mins spent on the job.
$170 later and no resolved issue, so pretty much I payed a repair man to unscrew and then screw up our microwave.
And then tell me that he would have to come back with a part (not even knowing if that was the problem with the microwave ) so that would be another $99 call out + over $100 part cost + labour ($22 every 10mins) this is over $132 hr.

The $170 I payed today for a service man to take a few screws out and spend half hour, with not resolved outcome is unacceptable and highway, I feel ripped off!

Excellent service from the first call to the last detail
Service desk very polite and happy to help.
Technician even cleaned under the dishwasher before putting it back in place
Smeg is great only required once for a hose change

Rang about my Rangehood, where the indicator light...

Rang about my Rangehood, where the indicator light to clean the filters keeps flashing and there is still grease on the motor. Was told there was nothing you could do about the grease on the motor - only supposed to clean the filters - all customers have the same problem. And then was advised how to turn the red light off, which on numerous attempts has not worked. Very disappointed with the Smeg product.

Both dishwasher and Microwave failed within 4 year...

Both dishwasher and Microwave failed within 4 years, cost under $200 to fix.

Dishwashers stainless steel door has also started to rust on the sides and it looks unpleasant.

When you pay a premium for any product you expect cretin level of quality and not a inferior product.

I would not buy a Smeg again.

P.s it was not all bad as the positive was Smeg customer service was pleasantly easy to deal with.

We were supplied by a smeg dishwasher by clarendon home and failed to work at 1 year and 6 months old. The Issue was it does not turn on.
When I talked to the service, customer service officer was Kelly and she mentioned we need to find a control board.
Mentioning control board straight away means, it is a known issue. Then see asked for model number.
Finding a model number is challenge, it does not mean I do not know how to look it. Looked at the side wall of the dishwasher nothing and when I looked at the back, I was shocked , it is covered by packing cardboard/fibre. virtually there were no protective cover.I did not expect this on decent dishwasher.

Worse part was service technician

He was booked in and gave 4-hour window from 10 to 2 pm. As a human you have things to do and can t sit and wait for 4 hours for someone s arrival.
Technician turned up knock the door and waited for 5 mins, then I had the phone calls from technician and customer service officer Kelly. ( technician once and customer service 3 times) Before I even pick-up the phone calls dropped off.

Then later I called them and talked to them, i was told service call was cancelled out.
I was also told that, I have to let them know during service call booking, we expect a call before the come. This should not be the case and any good customer service will have that option and will be mention in the call booking process. When I booked the service call, no mention o and I was waiting for a pre-call before the technician s arrival.

It is my fault expecting a better service from company has head office in Banks..... I would not take a smeg appliance, even if it is free.

Would not buy Smeg again. Purchased a range hood a few years ago and shortly after it was installed it broke and had to be repaired. Bought an oven a few months ago and the fan broke and was super noisy. I called them for repair and it took several weeks for the repair to be done, that meant that I could not use the oven. Now the range hood broke again and as it is out of warranty it was not worth fixing as the call out fee and the quarter hour prices quoted would possibly cost much more than replacing it. Disappointing products.

got a smeg induction cooktop and is the most frustrating thing, can only use one at a time because it gets confused and doesn't work.
also have a smeg kettle which is way overpriced and ours leaks so your better off getting a $10 from kmart which will do the same thing and not leak.

not happy jan. We bought our smeg oven SAC399X8 in 2012. 4 years ago , and we have had 4 things go wrong with it in that time. Just now , the oven has blown again. No lights, no nothing ! last time (6months ago) it did the same thing and when the tech came out they said it was the thermastat! Not again ???? Please replace oven for me. Ive had enough! A oven is there to be used!!!!!!

Don't buy a Smeg. A thousand dollar dishwasher should not have the hoses fail (twice). The exhaust hose used is about as cheap as you can get. It splits between the corrugations spraying dirty water into the cupboard where you dishwasher lives.

The cover should not fall off the door opener. The design is so flimsy it did not make it through the warranty period, and then the replacement did not last long. Held with plastic clips and a little spring.

The bottom panel at the front should not fall off because the plastic clips that hold it on have perished. This happened during the warranty period, after the hose fail, and I could not be bothered wasting more time with warranty.

Don't get sucked into the "higher price, better quality" BS. It costs more because it is not well designed, built efficiently and has high transport costs?

It washes ok. It is not quiet. Oh, the cutlery basket perished, and cracked.

If you want to buy an expensive dishwasher - maybe buy one made in Germany, and look for a 5 year warranty at least - or else find yourself putting up with broken bits.

Probably a good idea to befriend a warranty repair guy/gal in your city, and ask them for recommendations.

Life is too short to be stuffing around getting plastic bits and hoses repaired.

I have switched from another brand to Smeg. I am very disappointed and frustrated with the dishwasher performance. I am constantly re running the cycle or washing by hand due to some dishes not been cleaned during the cycle. After a cycle I some times find the dishwasher tablet has not dissolved, this is when I run another cycle. I truly miss my old dishwasher.

I received absolutely amazing service by Karen the supervisor. The previous person i spoke to was really unhelpful but i was so grateful to have Karen take my call.

After having an issue with my oven, Karen was quick to send someone out to fix the problem, all while listening to my concerns and providing amazing customer service. Karen is an asset to the smeg company and i really can't thank her enough!

Had an issue with my microwave globe...took it to SMEG...fixed on the spot, there and then for a very reasonable price... Had a wander and looked at their range of other larger household appliances......I want them all!!

like most things made in Italy the only thing premium about them is the price. Our Smeg oven worth thousands of dollars is absolute junk. Do yourself a huge favour and buy one of the many Australian made ovens that are out there at a third of the price.

In my opinion, Smeg has the best customer support in Australia. I have dealt with Steve Cullen and Lesley Anne from Smeg Service Department when I experienced some issues with my Smeg Oven. Both are extremely helpful and supportive. I am grateful to both for their excellent support. I m very happy with the outcome.

Very disappointed with the serviceman. I was told the damaged part for my rangehood was no longer available and I would need to buy a new rangehood. I contacted Master Appliances, they had no problem finding the necessary part and fixed my rangehood today. I will not be using your company if I need any repairs in the future.

I don t know what the showroom is like, I m sure it is beautiful. But Smeg as a product, I would not touch. I ve had a brand new oven replaced twice in a brand new property. My current property already had Smeg appliances, the dishwasher had to be replaced within 3 months and the oven has died within 2 years. Absolutely appalling product

If only other brands maintained this standard of customer support. Had a problem with my Smeg microwave, sent an email to Steve Cullen
National Service and Spare Parts Manager on a Sunday afternoon and he responded later that night. He couldn't do more to help, Smeg/Steve provided outstanding customer service.
