No rental car for service unless I purchased my Toyota from you? Frustrating! I took my business to another dealer and the rental was FREE! Plus, service cost was lower. Yes, you are #1 in Wisconsin but you seem too comfortable and not striving for high consumer satisfaction.

Typically, I've been satisfied with my experience at Smart Motors, but most recently, my experience was not what I would expect from a company that prides itself on service. It was time for me to have my 5000-mile check-in on my Prius, which essentially involves rotating the tires and topping off the fluids. It was suggested that I go to the Express Service; I tried that, but the wait was almost 90 minutes. So, I scheduled an appointment for the next week. When I arrived, I was told it would be an hour, which to me seemed excessive for a simply 5000 mile check in. After 70 minutes, I finally went and asked someone to check on it. I was told it would be just a few more minutes, and that they were washing the car and would bring it up. Ten minutes later, (80-85 minutes total) my car was pulled around. To my chagrin, the car had clearly not been washed. Sorry to have to offer this review, and I hope this isn't a pattern with others.

I took the car in for a tire pressure light and drove out $480 dollars later. To say the staff was unfriendly would be inaccurate. They were approachable and talkative. My feeling that I was 'upsold' some repair services may be conjecture but my recent experience certainly will give me pause to carefully consider my options the next time my car needs service.

I've been coming here and using synthetic oil for about 3 years. They blamed it first on a new computer system, and then on me for not asking for synthetic. I have been a Smart Motors customer for 30 years, and have bought and serviced 4 different cars from them during that time. My most recent visit reminded me why. I needed a transmission repair, but it was 4 months after the drive train warranty on the vehicle had expired. My service technician and the manager talked it over and decided to honor the warranty anyway! That's a perfect example of the customer service that has made me a loyal customer. The whole Smart Motors team is courteous, efficient, and willing to go the extra mile for you. It's a great place to buy a car!

Scott Lutzke was so helpful. I had an engine crisis, and even though it was clearly a very busy day for the repair department, he found a way to fit me in that same afternoon. He checked in on me several times over the course of my long wait to give updates, and was helpful with the entire process. Bought my first new car with Smart Toyota, a Corolla, and it was a great experience. I had come prepared to push through all of the most stressful parts of buying a car but none of it ended up being needed. I met with Bruce and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Also very patient with me as I bombarded him with questions, I left knowing every minute detail about the car and am very satisfied with both my purchase and the help I was given along the way.

We recently worked with Salesman Jason Hepperly of Smart Motors to buy a used Toyota Rav4 and were incredibly pleased and happy with the sales experience and with our car. Jason is very knowledgeable about all the details of the types of cars we were looking at, and how they compared to others makes and models. He was not pushy but kept in good contact with us. We decided to work with Smart Motors and Jason because as we explained our parameters and what we wanted to accomplish, giving a few different scenarios, Jason never once said "no way, we can't do that" (as we heard from a competitor) but rather, worked to help us get what we wanted. Jason also made sure we had proper winter floor mats, appreciate this. When we picked up the car, we were given a detailed walk-through of all the different gadgets and operations of the car - sorry I don't recall the gentleman's name who did this - but he was thorough and made sure we knew how to work everything, noting the differences from our last car, before we drove away. Lastly, the waiting area for when car is serviced is super - comfy chairs, a couple of TVs, variety of free coffees, sodas, water, warm cookies, wifi . customer appreciation is clearly a priority. Thank you Jason and Smart Motors!!!

I took my 2006 Toyota Prius in for a noisy passenger side wheel bearing and abs light that was on. The ABS light was an easy fix. I replaced the driver side wheel bearing my self and forgot to position the hole in the axle dust cover so the ABS speed sensor can read the axle. It was an easy do over. I was charged $125 for this. In addition I was charged $125 for an initial diagnostic fee after I told the assistant service writer what the issue was. The passenger wheel bearing cost me $675 for the part and labor. I initially took my car in to save myself time but it wound up costing me over $900. The car was fixed right however this cost was extremely excessive. I would recommend pricing other shops before bringing your car here.

Things on the sales end as well as the financing end were explained very well to me as this was my first time buying a car and financing all on my own. Definitely would recommend! Buying a car can be a painful experience. Usually it is ok until you meet the finance person. The process is slow as they try to add extras multiple times. That happened here too, but at least the guy was pleasant about it. The guy who ran us thru the functions on the car was very knowledgeable and thorough.

I live almost 90 miles away and have other options for purchasing a Toyota that are much closer to home but I just signed my 4th lease at this dealership because they are worth traveling to. They make it easy, they are professional and I am typically in and out within 2 hours (this is after dealing with them online to set everything up ahead of time). I don't anticipate going anywhere else and I can still get all of my service done at the more local dealership.

"Dishonest service...horrible customer experience. Brought Rav4 in for an oil change. Service department explained that the threads in the oil pan where plug goes were stripped and would cost $550 to replace. They went on to explain that this was due to the high mileage on the vehicle. This was completely dishonest of them. They finally admitted that the issue had nothing to do with vehicle milage and was from improper removal and installation. They still refused to admit fault and said I would have to take legal action if I wanted to pursue the issue. What kind of response is that??? I've heard about service shops being dishonest and taking advantage of people but never experienced it until now. Very upsetting. Do not take your vehicle here!!!"

At the last service appointment Smart Motors Toyota suggested to me to do a wheel alignment because the tires had uneven wear. I brought the car to my local mechanic around the corner who did all the measurements and checks and told me that there was no need for a wheel alignment. He balanced the wheels for 1/3 of the price that was quoted to me for the wheel alignment at Smart Motors Toyota.

I didn t have a good experience with their service center. I was told I needed urgent work done to my brakes ($700). After going to another mechanic I was told my brakes were fine. When going back to Smart Motors to recheck, they found everything was fine. The customer service wasn t very helpful or considerate either.

Purchased a 2013 Toyota RAV4 XLE using USAA car buying service and was satisfied with pricing, test drive. However, the salesperson misled me regarding the amount of time it took to complete purchase contract when I came back with check from credit union, cash down payment, lien holder info and plates being transferred. Specifically, I was assured the day before that from the time I arrived the following evening that the whole process would take no more than 30 minutes. I even confirmed this assurance of 30-minutes tops with salesperson approximately 2 hours before my scheduled appointment and was told - no problem we will have you on your way in 30 minutes or less. However, from the time I arrived until I left was actually 75 minutes. I would understand, if there had been a number of people ahead of me but I was told it was just one couple.

It was my first time leasing a car with Toyota. Samantha McSherry, got me a great deal, that was substantially cheaper than the one I received from other dealers. Visit to Smart Toyota was pressure-free, stress-free and very very straightforward. I was not hounded by anyone to purchase additional features and things like that. In two days we were able to get the car home. The best experience we have had with a car dealer, and hope to have fruitful interactions in the future.

This morning I brought my vehicle in to have a recall done and was going to be issued a rental car. I was a bit flustered this morning and was not as prepared as I normally am. I went to the rental desk and talked with Cassie and Darnell who were more than patient. They gave me time to collect myself and figure out what information I needed to provide them. After about 15 minutes of calling my husband, calling my insurance company and looking through my car for my up-to-date insurance information they were more than understanding and accommodating. I left feeling very well taken care of and happy to work with Smart Motors. That being said, today I am coming back in to purchase my lease! I have dealt with both Eric Brown and Matt Jones for over 15 years, when they both were at another Toyota dealership. they have always provided top notch service. On this occasion, we had one of our older Toyotas with over 115,000 miles on it, serviced. I emailed Eric but he was out ill, so Matt received the message forwarded from Eric and took care of communicating until Eric was back the next day.

It ended up needing several gaskets to repair an oil leak. While it was more money than we wanted to spend on an older vehicle, it was important to have it running for at least another year. I joke with Eric that I know who to contact when I am ready to sell it (he always tells me our cars are in perfect shape), since he knows our cars so well after providing service for many years! It took several day and since it's a spare car, I told him to take the week to fit it in wherever he could. He mentioned several times how he appreciated the flexibility. Two days later- the work was complete and it was running fine. Everything is always explained in detail, accurate costs provided and super friendly service. Thanks Eric!

As I walk up I noticed she and this guy were laughing trying to pronounce my name. Avoid Smart Motors if you possibly can! As many others before, my experience with the their service department was nothing but frustrating, and I have taken my business elsewhere. They are expensive to begin with, and then they do not stand behind their work. Six month ago, a tear in the driver s seatbelt required replacing it. That repair was aggravating enough. The repair was supposed to be done the same day we brought the car in, but took almost a week because they couldn t get the parts in in time, and kept making empty promises.

Now, six months later, the new seatbelt has a tear in the same spot where the old one ripped, and is half way ripped through. We brought the car back to them, expecting an apology, and a free replacement. Far from it. They couldn t figure out how the tear had occurred. That was bad enough in my mind.

On top of that, their position was that since they couldn t figure out how the tear had occurred it obviously couldn t be their fault, and hence we needed to pay for it. So much for taking responsibility for their work. Well, we ll have the seat belt repaired, but not at Smart Motors. This was the last time I ve done any business with them.

We ve been a Smart Motors customer for seven years, but my trust with them is gone, both in terms of being competent enough to actually fix this, and in terms of the way they are doing business. I felt ripped off. With the volume of their sales, their service department apparently has too many customers to care about both the quality of their work, and the satisfaction of their customers.

I chose Jessica K's name out of 7 options to start a conversation online regarding a vehicle and I am SO glad that I did. Jessica's communication skills are excellent and she made the process of buying a car from out of town smooth and pleasant. We drove 1 1/2 hours to pick up the car and everything was in order and everyone at Smart Motors was extremely nice and helpful from financing to technical support. We will definitely recommend your dealership and would gladly make the drive again for another vehicle purchase in the future.

I had a good experience buying a used car here, everything was fast (especially trying to get my financing approved). Sales person calls and also texts me the right information for my financing. They don t have pushy sales people, and gave me a good deal on my car, so far I m happy with their service.

Follow up visit today for a dead key fob and maintenance appointment. The first person I spoke with about my dead key fob was at the maintenance desk. I have to wonder if it was his normal duty as he have a less than stellar impression. (-1 star) He sent me over to the parts store. I walked over to the parts store and was told by the guy there that someone else would be helping me, he wanted to finish his discussion with the gentleman already there. After waiting for about 3 minutes, someone came out of the back area to help me. He sent me bank to the maintenance desk.(-1 star) Apparently the parts desk -does- have the key fobs in stock, however since they need to be programmed, the maintenance department handles them. They order them and program then for the specific vehicle. Back at the maintenance desk the guy is gone. The woman I speak to immediately sends me to a maintenance technician. The guy from earlier sees me and said why I'm back, do I explain the situation. Hopefully that was a moment of learning for him. I find someone to help me. Paul immediately looks up my vehicle info and dress that I haven't had my car long and said if the parts department had checked my battery... No, they had not! I had been told that it was not a Serviceanleitung fob when I first purchased the car, so I hadn't even asked if they could. He easily pops the key fob apart and find the battery, goes to the parts store and gets a new one to pop into the key fob. I test it on my car and it works perfectly! He hands me my key fob with no charge. Stellar experience with Paul! (+3 stars) Next, I head over to the express service center as my car is giving a maintenance message. As soon as I drive up, a man pops out to ask what I need and escorts me to the waiting area after writing some info on a clipboard. (+1 star)A few minutes after sitting down a different man approaches to let me know that the message indicates a tire rotation. He also notes that the wipers aren't working efficiently and asks if I'd like new ones. After indicating that is like the work done he's back after 10 minutes to let me know that I'm ready to roll. (+2 stars) Once I get my receipt and get into my car I see that I'm entitled to a free car wash in the attached touchless car wash building. (1 star) It was only 30 degrees so I passed on it today but the code is good until the 29th so I will be back.

Though there were a few less than stellar points of contact, the overall rating stands at 5 stars. Smart Motors Toyota provides 5 star+ customer service and their vehicle pricing is better than others. I'd purchase another car from them in a heartbeat. I plan to continue to take my car to them for regular service.

Bonus points of 3 stars to them for baking fresh cookies, having popcorn, other snacks, and all manner of drinks to enjoy in their club and cafe style waiting lounges!

My wife, Helen, and I recently purchased a new 2015 Prius and we are very pleased with the performance and gas economy. For these two reasons we chose the Prius sedan. We traded in a 2012 Prius V. Some might say we traded down, but we are very happy with our decision to go a little smaller.

Our experience with Smart Motors has always been truly exceptional. The two sale consultants, Scott Nelson and John Dolan, are proven examples of exceptional representatives of Smart Motors. We have come back numerous times because of these men. They deserve to be recognized within the organization and publically. They are the best.

I was a bit disappointed by the financial consultant, Lee, as he was pushy and needed to work on his people skills. It would have taken nothing to be personable with us when we completed the sale. We were excited to be picking up a new car and all he seemed to want to do was get the paperwork done and move on with his day. Lee and I did talk on the phone previous to our coming to the dealership and when he was trying to push his extended warrantee product, which I specifically stated I did not want, he didn t want to take no for an answer. I also prearranged my financing through Summit Credit Union and he wanted me to do it through Smart Motors. I believe he needs to be able to read people who are of my generation who want to do things personally their way and respect their wishes to do things themselves.

Lee will not keep me from coming back to Smart Motors because everyone else seems to understand service and developing relationships with the customer base.

We are looking forward to the new models next year and will be back.

My Rav 4 needed front end work and Jessie recommended only using a Genuine Toyota assembly which was covered under the warrantee. I was given a new loaner to use over night and he promptly called when work was done. The complimentary safety check revealed a problem with a brake which I was happy to have pointed out to me and fixed. Even though I have to drive 110 miles round trip to have my car serviced at Smart Motors, it is well worth it for my family`s safety.

Smart motors is a great dealership. Everyone here is very courteous except Mark who is one of their managers. He is a rude and ill-mannered person who doesn't know how to interact with the clients. I was at the verge of buying a car today that Bruce (he's an excellent salesman) helped me with; however, Mark with his bad attitude spoiled all the effort that Bruce did. Due to the bad behavior of Mark I decided to move to a different dealership. Good job Mr. Mark, next time keep those 2 dollars in your pocket.

I request to the owner of the Smart motors to take an action against Mark and replace him with someone better as he's bringing bad name to the dealership.

Had some warranty work done and they really do go above and beyond to make your service visit as good as it can be. The waiting area includes comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, a good selection of complimentary refreshments, and even a children's play room. I drive 50+ miles to have Smart handle my vehicle, and it is worth it. They provided a great loaner vehicle that gave us the opportunity to run our own errands while they attended to my car.

Here is where I really have to show my gratitude. We had to transfer some things from our car to the loaner, including a child's car seat. Anyone who has to do this knows what a pain it can be. Bob to the rescue! Bob not only helped transfer the seat, he corrected a mistake I had made with the tether routing, and spent a good 15-20 minutes tweaking and adjusting the car seat until everything was perfectly adjusted to my daughter. Bob had been the owner of USA Baby and was intimately familiar with the car seat. I consider myself to be mechanically competent, but some of the adjustments on these things are daunting. Bob made it look easy and was happy to take the time to help us. Thank you Bob!! And thank you Smart!

I emphasized to the "order writer" at Express that I had traded the car in and was waiting for the new car delivery ------ all I wanted was an oil and filter change with SYNTHETIC BLEND oil.
( I had phoned yesterday to get the cost of such. The girl on the phone said $36.00)
Later, the so-called service tech, came to me with two air filters they had removed and said they were dirty and needed replacing. Did they not LISTEN to what I had said ?
The bill came ----- $59+ for full-synthetic oil. I complained so he said I guess we could drain the oil out and put in synthetic blend. Boy, did that make a lot of sense ?
If they were not allowed to put in Blend, why didn't they come and tell me first ? Not a good experience ---- may not go back there!

Alex Parsons at Smart Toyota was the best to work with. We stopped by in July 2020 looking for a Tacoma, with 2020 being the way it is he recommended ordering one. He went through part by part and ordered just what we wanted. We picked up our new vehicle in late September and couldnt ve happier. I'm a car geek - I've always loved cars and I love buying them. I've had terrible experiences with some car places, and I've always had a great experience buying cars at Smart. We've gotten our last 3 from Smart. Andy Kaiser is a great guy to work with.

The detailing department is first rate. I off-road my Tacoma with some frequency, and this results in "pinstripes" in the clearcoat from branches and tree limbs. The guys in the detailing department had never seen so many as had. No worries, though, they got it shined up, good as new, and fast, too. I couldn't believe how good it turned out. I hope they took and use those pictures, because it was pretty amazing. The truck will most likely be back next fall to get the paint shined up again for winter.

Smart is a great place to do business with, and I've been very happy with their service and staff.

P.S. Put a D4D diesel in the Tacoma, and I'll buy a new one tomorrow. :-)

I bought a new 2012 Toyota Tacoma from Smart Motors back in January, and I couldn't be any happier. I got really good trade-in value for the 2002 Tacoma I had at the time. My salesman was Clint Phillips, and he was wonderful to work with during this process. I was very picky about the style, and even color, of Tacoma I was searching for, and Clint helped me find the truck I wanted (4x4, Double Cab, Long Bed, Automatic, TRD Sport Package, Nautical Blue Metallic). He is an absolute gem with his patience and no-pressure, laid-back (in a good way) approach. I'll definitely steer other potential Toyota customers his way in the future!

The financing part was smooth as silk. Justin Calvert was patient, nice and humorous in his explanations of various details and paperwork. He was great to work with as well. Samantha "Sam" Bowen was excellent in orienting me to the truck's various features the day I picked it up and drove it off the lot. Basically, the whole truck-buying experience couldn't have gone any better. Oh, and I LOVE my new Tacoma! It's everything I was hoping it would be.

I just had my 5,000-mile maintenance service a few weeks ago, and due to the Toyota Care Program, that went smoothly as well. In less than an hour they had changed the oil and filter, rotated the tires, did a maintenance inspection, reapplied the DiamonFusion (sp?) glass treatment to my windshield, and took the truck through the car wash which is always a very nice touch. All at no expense thanks to Toyota Care.

I've always been treated extremely well at Smarts. From Jim Ward in the service department to Kermit who has worked with my mother and her Camry to Roger Ingalls who I bought my first Tacoma from, this is just a first-rate place. Kudos to them. To others out there in the market for a Toyota, go to Smarts and ask for Clint. If he's unavailable, I'm sure you'll get the same grand treatment from somebody else on the sales staff. By the way, did I say how much I love my Tacoma?

Buying my used car from Toyota wasn t nearly as enjoyable as when I d bought a new car from them in the past. The sales rep that I worked with was kind and informational, but when it came to working out the loan details for financing the vehicle, I felt taken advantage of and out of touch . I d specifically mentioned what I was looking for in terms of contract, and I was altogether ignored when it came down to establishing a loan contract that works for me. In the end, I bought the car knowing full well that I d be refinancing with a different lender as soon as I drove off the lot, but it would have been a lot more pleasant experience if the friendly down to earth approach had extended past the test drive of my vehicle.

We purchased a van through Al Franklin, he was informative and not pushy at all. He was fine with us looking vans from 10,000 to 40,000 and helped us settle on the perfect van in the mid-twenties. He didn t seem to pressure us into any vehicle, and asked questions that helped us identify what we needed. He was upfront with us and we felt we got a vary fair price. They were also very fair with our trade in offer!
