As a single parent buying a new car on my own was daunting. But I had an amazing experience. I was in and out in out within an hour. Yes they were respectful and amazing!! It felt supported every step of the way.

I brought my car in for a 4 wheel alignment. The t...

I brought my car in for a 4 wheel alignment. The technician did not use proper procedures in loosening a bolt (used a hand wrench instead of an air wrench) and broke the bolt rendering the car undrivable. Instead of removing the broken bolt and replacing it. They said it was impossible and they would now need to replace the entire rear suspension system ($3500).

I ended up having to tow it to another service to get the bolt replaced and the rear wheels aligned ($89).

To top it off they charged me for the full 4 wheel alignment and said if I disagreed they could instead charge me for technician time which would cost more.

TL;DR
They broke my car using incorrect methods then refused to fix it without charging me for 1/10 of a new car.

DO NOT GO HERE THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU.

I visited Smart Motors Used Car lot in February of this year (2014). I had a not so great experience with the gentleman who accompanied us on the test drive. When I relayed my dissatisfaction to the sales agent during a follow up to my visit, I never heard from them again. Not an apology. Nothing. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere.

I would recommend Ballweg. I received great customer service during every step of the process.

oh, oh, I had 5,9yr old grandchildren in my prius c/ and left headlight went out, night was coming.
So I headed to Smart Motors, drove into quick oil change area.
Yes, they could fix it promptly, which they did with another light in rear out, and grandchildren were cozy in the waiting room, childrens' area drinking hot chocolate, eating yogurt, and cookies.

Had a wonderful customer experience with Phil Awes and team at Smart Motors. We drove 3+ hours from Iowa to complete the purchase of our 2020 Highlander. The deal was completely done via email and phone and time spent in person in the dealership was quite short. The all paid incredible attention to our needs and expectations and most importantly, they were all kind. What more could you ask for? Should our first Toyota SUV purchase continue to please us, we see a long relationship with this business. Thanks for allowing us to share!

My mom had never purchased a vehicle on her own before, my dad always took care of all that, but she fell in love with a 2016 RAV4 on the Used lot and that was that. We drove in from Watertown just before Thanksgiving to make the deal and the whole experience was top notch from the time we arranged our visit to the moment we drove off the lot.

We worked with Tim N and Brian E and both were friendly and knowledgeable, and honestly, this was one of the smoothest car buying experiences I've ever been involved with. Definitely will recommend Smart for fair deals and awesome prices!

Brought in my Highlander for new tires and an alignment. The charge for the tires was below the price quoted on the phone, the wait was shorter, and the complimentary snacks/beverages were unexpected. The staff was pleasant and helpful, checking-in on me to let me know that things were going as planned. I haven't yet had a bad experience with Smart's parts or service departments (sales...is sales). I'll keep returning for as long as I own the vehicle.

I was provided the opportunity to drive my new minivan multiple times during my hours of availability, not just during business hours.
I don't know if it's standard practice there, and I won't put his name up here because I don't know if it is, but my salesperson at the dealership--on the on the day he had off-- came in to meet with me to make sure I was sure driving the right van. Not that I would buy it, but that I was driving the right one. I don't know if that actually says anything about the company, other than it attracts the right people.

bought my first car from smart motors and absolutely loved how easy the staff made it and how nice and caring the staff was. they definitely want to make you comfortable before they sell you a car. The finance people were very easy to work with and made sure you understood everything as well! definitely will be coming back

The sales people are friendly, great folks, which gets them a star, but they don't offer any room to move on price - it's either the sticker or nothing. Service is also incredibly stingy if you didn't buy your car from them, even if it's for warrantied service - you won't get a loaner car, only a one-way shuttle. They failed to mention this to me over the phone, even though we arranged a loaner, so I had to talk the service rep into giving me a two-way shuttle, which was only offered because my workplace was about a mile away. That could have been worst if I had to get across town.
I would worry about an establishment that focuses only on hardline sales and doesn't follow up on the Toyota owning experience in the service department.

I just leased my second vehicle through Smart Motors and again am very impressed! Worked with Scott Nelson for sales and I left with no questions. He is very knowledgeable and honest. Dana in financing is amazing and she got everything taken care of so quickly! I am absolutely loving my new 4Runner and I highly recommend Smart Motors if you're looking for a vehicle, especially Scott and Dana!

Arranged the details with Rodney Potter via email, drove 2 hours from IL to pick up a new 4Runner TRD Pro for a totally fair price, and was in and out of the dealership in about 90 minutes. No super high pressure add-on pitches and delivered exactly what they promised.

Our sales person Cody Sondalle was awesome, He went over every part of the vehicle and answered all of our questions. Very good service and staff, much much better than the dealerships that I experienced in st. Louis Missouri while I was there for a period . People here have work ethics which is absent in St Louis, what a shame. I have had another before with smart, and the experience was very good too. Well people can see and feel everything from the moment they walk in your door, so if you want good feedbacks and continual customer comebacks , you just have to work well with all the decency. That's just fair.

I can't say enough great things about Smart Motors! The customer service continues to exceed my expectations (I recently leased my third vehicle with Smart Motors). I came to Smart Motors to have my vehicle serviced and walked out with a new vehicle. Scott Lutzke in the Service Department was very efficient and accommodating during our contact. Scott went above and beyond his duties to ensure that I was assisted further by the Sales Department. Phil Awes in the Sales Department immediately assisted me and provided excellent customer service! Phil was knowledgeable, professional, low pressure and had a genuine interest in meeting my vehicle needs. Wes, in the Finance Department was efficient and expedited the process as well. I am extremely happy with my overall experience and will continue to recommend Smart Motors to anyone looking for a vehicle!

I bought a new 2020 Toyota Tundra from Smart Toyota in May. It has been an up and down experience with them since. They ordered the wrong side steps so had to keep my truck longer than expected. Then, they didn't install my tonneau cover correctly and I had to take it back to have them fix it. Now, they correctly installed a rear step but messed up my trailer plug in. If you are looking to have the details be correct, SHOP ELSEWHERE!

Called them because I needed a set of tires put on my car. I had a flat tire and was about a mile from them so I called and asked places around the area and they said they could take me in and had tires in my size in stock. Since I was going to replace one I decided to do them all which they said they could do. While giving the woman my information she asked for the model and I said it was a Nissan Altima. She immediately said they do not work on cars other than Toyota/Lexus/Scion so they could not help me. I have never been turned down from getting work done on my car because it's not the make that a dealer sells. This rule is idiotic and the sad part Is I was going to get the new Rav4 from them as soon as the snow hit but I'll be going to The East Madison dealer now.

I recently bought a Rav 4 from Smart Motors. I had a very pleasant experience. All the staff there were extremely friendly and helpful. JD, who was our sales associate, was able to answer all of our questions and went above and beyond in helping us find the right car for us. We were able to get a great deal on the old toyota I traded in and the new one that I bought. This is my second car from Smart Motors in 3 yrs and both experiences have been excellent.

Who knew that the entire car purchase process could be so rewarding. I had just walked away from a major accident and the car was a write off so a replacement was necessary. I searched on Google for dealerships in my local area. I was looking to get a price, but no dealers got back to me. Thankfully I did get a quote from Smart Motors After exchanging a few emails back and forth I scheduled an appointment with JD Harwell I wasn't aware there were so many vehicle combinations to choose from. JD Harwell helped me every step of the way in selecting my next vehicle. Throughout the pricing I felt they were being completely open and transparent with everything. After humming and hawing, I finally decided on the Red 2014 Toyota Camry because the original color I thought I wanted wasn't being made anymore. I dropped of my car a day early and glad to hear of the possibility of early repair start. The pricing of an alignment is about $20 cheaper than my usual auto shop, however, I was disappointed to see an extra $60 estimate on tie rod replacement.

Called for a 60K mileage service and strange noise from the engine area during acceleration, was quoted a price over the phone and given a reservation time. Upon arrival at the dealership, the price was instantly bumped up three times the original quote. After drop off, once work on the vehicle had begun, the service rep called to inform the customer of an additional cost not discussed in either quote.

Minor attempts were taken to find the cause of the grinding noise, to no avail. All said and done, would not go back. Would not recommend to anyone needing Toyota service in the Madison area.

They really know what they are doing here! I had a few recalls on my corolla and they had an appointment scheduled for me within 2 days of me reaching out. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the whole process. I appreciated that they fixed my recalls and did an inspection on my car. I will likely bring my car back for any future maintenance despite it being a further drive than my current mechanic.

I have always had excellent service and last week was no exception. I was in for a regular check-up and extra work was needed. Vusue explained about the brake pads and brake calipers. When I told him that I still had an extended warranty, he took care of saving me $300. I used a loaner overnight and was able to pick up my repaired car at noon on May 12th. I recently purchased a Toyota RAV4 and I noticed on the carfax that the previous owner had all her work done at Smart Toyota.
I brought the car in for a thorough exam. I worked with Eric Brown on this review. I found him very professional, knowledable and easy to work with. After deciding what the best course of action was I walked into the "waiting area". The customer service I received really knocked my socks off !
The impression I got was that the staff at Smart had already anticipated any possible problem and solved them before they even had a chance to occur.
The piano music made me feel like I was in the lobby of the Pfister Hotel instead an automobile dealership. They followed this up with a free shuttle ride to my office !

The repair work was done in a timely manner. Eric was also able to REDUCE my bill based on the examination. The result of that was I developed a trust with Eric and didn't have to worry about any unnecassary work being done.

I absolutely could not be more impressed with everyone I came in contact with there at the dealership

Do not buy your next car from this dealership you ...

Do not buy your next car from this dealership you will certainly regret it - they lie from the top down. They also forget that the customer comes first and that they should never be lied to and ignored. Trust the power of a review and do not buy your next car from the dealership you will be sorry! It s funny that I see the owner responding to all the positive emails with the last email that I sent was deleted - hmmm. Once again they don t want you to see the truth.

Austin Frye was great. He listened to what I was looking for and when the car I had identified online and test drove first did not deliver, he immediately looked for other options. Austin made sure to respect not only my budget, but also the most important options I was looking for in a vehicle. Austin was able to identify a Camry that checked almost all of the boxes. After a couple of test drives my wife and I decided to purchase it. I have had the car for a couple of weeks now and I could not be more satisfied! I would recommend Smart Used, and more specifically Austin, to anyone looking for a low pressure, enjoyable car buying experience!

It's getting impossible to get into the Express Se...

It's getting impossible to get into the Express Service at the Madison west location, no matter what time or day you arrive. Last three visits there have been lines, and the staff don't manage who is there first or who just pulls up late and sits blocking the road - they just start randomly selecting cars to go next. After all that, you get a very condescending manager who tells you it will be two hours for "express" service. I drive 65 miles to Madison for this? They need to open up satellite stations at other locations, or else allow a person to make an appointment even just for oil changes.
