Smart Energy Solar Review

After deciding to go solar we shopped around and received quotes from different companies. Out of the 3 companies that came out, Smart Energy Solar Nick and Alex, offered us the best price with the best Hyundai solar panels in the market and not some no name panels. Smart Energy Solar initially installed 28 panels, EV outlet and a new circuit breaker box. After paint matching our stucco color our system looked and operated Amazing. We got our 30% tax credit from the IRS. We used that to get a new roof and found out from Nick that also because of the solar the government is paying for 30% of the new roof also!!! Unbelievable. Going with Smart energy lowered my bill drastically and got the government to pay for my new roof!!! Everything they said and did was Absolutely professional, above and beyond this is the Solar company you want. A well established professional company from start to finish. Oh and they installed everything in 3 weeks!! thanks Nick and ALex!

In my opinion, Smart Energy USA, aka, Smart Energy Solar, aka Clear Choice Solar are bad for consumers in my personal opinion. It appears the company in order to hide consumer complaints has constantly changed their names and business addresses.

Victims of Smart Energy USA and Clear Choice Solar should now know that they are calling themselves Smart Energy Solar located at 6260 Rivercrest Riverside, CA 92507 operating under License #990049

Worse company to ever partner with they take forever on paying you I'm ready to go to the labor board with this I had a install go in December 5th and they say 2 to 4 weeks you'll get paid after the install date and I've yet to receive my money from that installation and we're in February this is by far the longest I've ever waited to get paid it's very unprofessional considering they are a partner with sunrun which is a great company but as far as smart energy they are not reliable

Poor customer service they never call you back. Every time I leave a message using your answering service I have yet to get a phone call back. Nobody in the Corona office ever picks up the phone. Don't believe me to call them and ask him are you in the Corona office or the answering service. I keep waiting to get updates but I've been left in the dark. If you agree to get a panel installed as per the contract make sure they get it done first before they put solar panels. Or else you'll never hear from them again.

Im glad i went ahead and decided to go Solar. You guys made the entire process smooth and stress free. Im happy with result and Im definitely passing the word to my friends and family.

This is a awesome solar company. I just had solar panels added to my house. They worked really fast and efficiently. They made sure everything was done correctly. Stay as far away from these people as you can. They are totally incompetent.

I started the process on May 10. It's now November 10 and I'm still waiting. They can't get plans right, they can't coordinate inspections, they don't contact the city or power people, they lie to you, they don't return calls and they just don't seem to care one way or another.

Waited a month for an inspection. Called the city and learned they had never heard of us. Got cleared from the city and the fire department and was told it would be at least till November till DWP inspected us. Called them and they said we were on the "inspection pending" list since June and as soon as Smart Energy called them they would be out within two days.

Call our so called project manager and got fed a complete line of bullshit. One lie after another. And that was only after three or four days of trying to get them to either answer the phone or return my call.

Don't touch these people with a 10 foot pole

I am still waiting for my system to be repaired.
Half of it not working. They promised me $$ for the months my electric bill went up. There answer now is they are re viewing it.
No one returns my calls!!!!! I have 2 other homes. Would never do it again!!!!!

We contacted several solar companies before purchasing our solar panels, Smart Energy was up front and honest is saving me lots of money on my electricity bill, I'm extremely pleased with this company!! they were really friendly informative and courteous... all workers were knowledgeable and very professional. I would recommend this company over and over again for its great costumer service. I'm extremely pleased with my panels! Thank you Smart Energy!

I feel like I got scammed. I tried to cancel and they wouldn't let me. They threatened to lean my house. They switched sales guys on me and of course things I was told by the first guy don't mean anything to the new guy or the company. The new guy told me they fired the first guy I dealt with because he wasn't being honest with the customers. But they still wouldn't let me out of the contract. I pay in total about the same every year as I did when I was dependent on Edison for electricity. Now I need my house reroofed and can't get them to help me R & R my panels like I was told they would. From day one their "customer service" has been horrible. How do I give negative stars?

In, July of 2014, I ran my air conditioner at a moderate rate and my bill was $600 for that month.
I contacted Smart Energy and they sent over a sells representative who was very kind and informative.
What was presented to me made sense. It was another option to buy energy at a set rate. With SDGE rates just went up another 8%. We qualified for the solar and within a few weeks the panels were up on our roof with no issues. The installers were great! They showed up on time, greeted us and went to work.

My wife and I are very satisfied with the service from beginning to end. And we're real happy that we can blast the air conditioner without worrying.

2 years later- my solar is performing well and our bill is always at the same price.

I"ve left two message asking for a call-back. Zilch. Yet my phone rings twice per day from other solar companies cold calling me. Ugh.

Just had my solar turned on after 3 months. I want to thank Smart Energy Solar for providing a quality service from start to finish. They really made sure to keep me well informed with how my project was moving along and solved any discrepancies quickly. Installation was professional and the installers left everything looking clean as if there was never any construction done. I was hesitant at first due to other reviews but those reviews didn't reflect my experience with this company, I felt they were really trying to provide me an excellent service and I can say they delivered and then some.

Run run run and when you think you are far enough away run and run some more. You will thank me. These guys are crooks and liars of the worst kind!

Just look at the stars and reviews. if they mess up it is a nightmare for the next months. Paying the loan and no solar, damage to your home, and be told lies over and over again.

We have been very careful in choosing a solar installer and finally chose Smart Energy Solar Out of the three companies we discussed solar with (MOHR's and Solar City, sunpower), Smart Energy Solar was the most responsive, most committed and definitely the best priced by FAR!!!
BTW Solar City was a nightmare, their sales rep just disappeared in the middle of negotiations, they were the most expensive (25%+) and truly provided the worst follow up. They also were pushing inferior panels when compared with Smart Energy solar.

Thanks Guys you cut my bill in half amazing and now just Re appraised my house after the solar installation and my house is worth $50,000 more valuable and cut my bill in half and had the government pay for 30% for the entire system Unbelievable Thanks Smart Energy Solar!!!!!

First if you believe you'll get a Kindle Fire for listening to the pitch about solar, think again. I bought a 9KW solar system and still have not received the Kindle Fire which they promised in 5-7 weeks.

Even worse, the system after 3 months has not been installed. Smart Energy Solar use to be Clear Choice Solar and they had so many complaints they had to switch their name and business address. The new business address for these scammers is 6260 River Crest, Unit C & D Riverside, CA 92507.

These guys (Kort Potter and Barnaby Bakers) are known criminals. Stay clear once you sign that contract with their sales reps you're stuck, and even worse, after three months the systems not installed.

They also ripped us off on our referral fees because we recommended them to our neighbors. Imagine being the poor fools who make your neighbors get ripped off for a $50K solar system which doesn't reduce your energy bill. There lots of Solar Companies choose another one, please.

I cant say enough about SMART ENERGY SOLAR!!! From my first phone call with NICK my solar agent was a great experience. I've been looking into Solar for the past 2 years and received quotes from Solar City and Sungevity and Sunpower and SMART ENERGY SOLAR cut the price in HALF!!! The one thing I noticed from the other company's that I received quotes is the knowledge of the sales agent. They had panels all over my house that would have been worthless and not a good return on my investment. The first thing I noticed working with NICK at SMART ENERGY SOLAR was the knowledge he had with the product they installed and was always looking for saving for me. Solar is supposed to be an investment that will have a relationship for a long time and also bring back a nice return. NICK the sales agents and staff are outstanding with excellent customer service and making sure the client is always happy and comfortable with the transaction, even down to the financing process. When it came to the installation the experience was just superb! The team showed up on time and Jack the foreman went through the entire process with me and was very helpful.

I cant say enough about SMART ENERGY SOLAR but if you do not get a quote from SMART ENERGY SOLAR then you have not done your homework!!!!

I've had the pleasure of having my solar panels installed by Smart Energy Solar. They were nothing short of great throughout the whole process and they made sure I got the best deal I could when I showed them the offers from other solar companies I had spoken to previously. The amount I'm paying for my lease is almost half of what I was paying for my electric bill!

Had them install a 6k system. Broke several tiles and left exposed holes, called them when roof leaked and the came out and patched. Next rain my roof leaked so bad and damaged my hardwood floors and my doors would not open. Won't return calls, won't fix damage had to get attorney. Stay away, there are plenty of other companies out there........

If your going to get electrical panel upgrade male sure it's the first thing they do. Rails and panels done in 14 days. But 14 days later nothing. I call number but calls are foward to an off site location, (good luck if you dont speak spanish) they can only take a mesage but I never gotten return call. Green sky (my loan holder is already going to start charing me for solar that's not up and running. Also I was lied too by arron (sales person, and account manager Arianna.)I told them I was in middle off remodeling house. Needed project done within 4 weeks had other contractor coming to rewire and other contractors for other projects. Both said no problem will be done. (I originally had another person doing solar, but they were backed up and hadn't done a thing in 2 weeks)
Point being customers service has been horrible. I was lied too during my contract signing and setup part. And it's not because i don't understand, im a workercomp auditor, and corp bookkeeper. Except for the guys thay install panels on roof they were nice and clean. Today is the start of week 3 I hope I'll finally get a phone call from them instead of calling 18 times for 3 days different hours to get one call back.

I've had solar for a few months now and wanted to write a review after having the system for a while. Our system has been great for the time that we've had it active. The company gave us a great rate that is about $30 less than what we were paying SCE monthly. Customer service was friendly and answered any questions I had at the time. I'd recommend this company to anyone looking to get solar, the installation was top notch.

What an awesome company! My wife and I had our solar system connected a couple of months ago. From beginning to end, the process was smooth and well explained. Another solar company didn't even want to bother with us and told us our roof wasn't good for solar (Huh??? glad I didn't listen to that other company) . The installation crew was very professional and respectful. They cleaned up the job site every afternoon. I couldn't been happier with the process - and mine was not a simple "plug-and-play" situation. They worked fast. When the inspector came he said that it was one of the cleanest solar installs he'd seen. I really liked the two installers. They were nice fellas and were professional and seemed to enjoy the solar technology.

The sales process was no pressure. They had some really cool tools that measured the track of the sun and used it to optimize the location of the panels. They didn't oversell to a fault. I kept pushing to add more panels and they kept advising me against it. So I think that's a good sign.

Our salesperson, Nick and Alex, was awesome. They helped us throughout the entire process and took time to explain all of the different ways to go solar. After just a month it looks like the estimates of power generation from the panels has been exceeded. It feels great to generate credits every day I recommended this company to everyone What an awesome company. The install of our system went very well. We were approved by SCE within a couple days of approval by the city/county or whomever approves these systems. That was march 28. The system has been down more than it is up and there is some response fromSmart Energy but no solutions. The supposed owner is Leo Bautista. They say his voice mail isn't updated yet so you get "permitting". Of course he has never returned a call. It is really unfortunate that a project that started out so well has spiraled into a complete mess.
