Great hotel and venue for a wedding reception, great staff, well organised and friendly, in a wonderful surrounding coastline, top notch!
Great hotel and venue for a wedding reception, great staff, well organised and friendly, in a wonderful surrounding coastline, top notch!
Beautiful hotel right the coast. We spent 3 days here. Spa is wonderful! Food options at hotel are slightly limited but the staff is very accommodating and kind!
A telephone chat on two different occasions with members of staff was enough to put me off. Certainly they wanted me to spend my money elsewhere. Would have expected for a better customer care considering the price they are charging.
The hotel and surroundings are great, fantastic having the sea right on your doorstep however, the lack of 'actual' family rooms really let the experience down. We booked a family (two adults, two kids) room and asked if there were any with More
Lovely hotel. Great place for a coffee or a drink.
Superb place I was blown away by service and the views are stunning. Town centre round the corner great for families and weddings
Such a beautiful hotel with amazing service with all food and by staff at the hotel.
If you are looking for the best Hotel in Northern Ireland then make sure you stay here in the picturesque landscape of the Mourne mountains, sea and Royal County Down Golf Club.
Excellent hotel and lovely staff, all very attentive and helpful. Our room had an amazing sea view and was very spacious. We have had many visits over the years and will definitely return
My daughter booked the hotel as a birthday treat 10 th June, from the moment we arrived we were greeted at the door and made feel very welcome by the receptionist, he informed us we had been upgraded to a suite which was a lovely surprise ! Wow what a lovely room, very spacious and it had two queen beds , a large TV , some little sweet treats to have with our fresh coffee ,a beautiful bathroom with lovely spa treats in it to put a glow on us in the morning . We had a beautiful breakfast sitting with the sun shining on us , great selection and very helpful staff. Once again a wonderful treat staying in this hotel ! Thanks to everyone !
Hotel facilities were great and service was excellent. I was a bit disappointed in the food for the meal at night
Wonderful stay. Great service and beautiful food in restaurant
We spent a night here in late August and really enjoyed it. The staff were lovely and welcoming and we were very happy with out room which had a great sea view. The highlight was definitely the spa with a very warm pool and a great smaller, hot tub-esque pool with views over the Irish sea. Breakfast was also great; a varied selection of good quality produce. They seem very proud of showcasing their suppliers and include a little booklet on the table. We would definitely return.
Classy interior. Service was as amazing as the drinks.
Walk along river up mountain beautiful but there is a complete absence of signage from Donard Car park. We took a wrong left over one of the bridges and ended up doing a loop instead of straight uphill. With short daylight it was too risky to climb to the summit. Still a lovely hike.
This review was meant for the mountain walk up Slieve Donard and not the hotel. I already reviewed the hotel. Sorry for any confusion.
Service, staff and food was excellent. Even under the current Covid restrictions the hotel and staff are still able to ace excellent levels of service. The views from our room were awesome and we had regular visits from the local sea gulls who made sure to let you know they were there and tapped on the window when room service arrived with our breakfast . During dinner on both nights the staff took time to chat with us both.
Great hotel. Food and services exceptional. Fabulous swimming pool and spa. Staff looking after guest's very good. Highly recommended.
Had a great 2 day /night stop over midweek. Hotel room was terrific , clean and spacious. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Food at dinner and breakfast was great, service super. Hotel was busy but able to enjoy pool and fitness room as well as relaxing in big comfortable armchairs. Would definItely go back
Lovely hotel, spa is fantastic. Staff couldn't do enough for us Cheryl at reception was very helpful. Meal at Percy French was beautiful. Wish we could have stayed longer will definitely be back.
Room rate allows you to make use of the large spa.
Disliked:
Large wait at breakfast before being seated.
Wish we had more time here. There's a spa, so bring your suit and enjoy. Gorgeous area. Very comfortable rooms (we had a spa room).
Food is delicious but the service later on into the afternoon slacked off quite a bit.
Just amazing.
Well worth a stay.
We stayed for 3 nights.
Understandably Covid19 has made an impact on it but it is still functioning well and staff are so polite.
Enjoyable relaxing spa day. Very clean and beautiful surroundings
Sits on the shore of the Irish Sea and at the foot of the mountains. Such a beautiful location. The hotel is beautiful and offers excellent service, comfortable beds and good breakfasts. I highly recommend this hotel.
Writing this a few months after my stay but this has to be the best hotel in Northern Ireland!
Staff Excellent, Room Amazing, Percy French resteraunt Amazing, the bar and pianist Amazing and to top it of the view from the spa and our room of Donard!
All I can say is you have to experience it to really appreciate it. Will be back hopefully in the near future
Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful time
Pitty about the weather but it is very lovely hotel no points to complain about may go back again.
This hotel is great, the bedroom's are beautiful and very comfortable staff are very friendly, the food is great
The bedrooms were great for the price but the breakfast left something to be desired
We have a brilliant day the treatments were amazing and staff were fantastic
Fantastic stay here for a milestone birthday! Great facilities and brillant staff. Excellent room, very clean and amazing views of both the sea and Mournes! Spa facilities are top class with staff to match.. would definitely recommend a stay here!!
Out standing beautiful inside and outside. Wonderful staff.
We are celebrating our daughter wedding here October 2019 only one thing it's very expensive
What a fabulous place, from the building to the sraff and that stunning view. The spa facilities are amazing, what better way to relax and find your joy
We go here regularly. For those looking a quiet coffee shop, there is one just to the rear of the hotel. They should promote it more. Stunning Views of the Mountains through large windows . Great for just relaxing on a cool day .
Lovely hotel. We'll presented. Bit disappointed with cleanliness in Percy French bistro.
Attended the Santa experience at Slieve Donard and was a huge disappointment. We have attended Santa experiences every year at other locations and this is by far the worst. The execution of the event was terrible and is massively over priced. Dont disappoint your children this Christmas and go elsewhere.
A truly beautiful setting, attentive staff and close to local ameneties. Breakfast is fantastic and ine of the most comfortable beds Ive slept in. we stayed here as part of a wedding party, this was a fantastic venue for it. we also used the very relaxing spa facilities, a must if you come to stay here!
Stayed for a friends wedding, great service and lovely hotel
Very nice spa facilities. Afternoon tea also delicious even if outside weather is howling.
Great place to stay safe and enjoy the time of work
I stayed in room 229. I used the pool, ate breakfast at the restaurant, and had drinks at the bar. Great stay
Lovely hotel with a great spa and very helpful and welcoming staff throughout
We went to the Spa and then the Lighthouse restaurant for lunch. The place is beautiful and had loads of potential but is massively let down by how it is run. The spa was ok but they forgot to turn the Sauna on and it took 2 hours to heat up! I was leaving when it managed to get up past room temperature. The lunch options were limited and rather plain. The staff were really slow and took 20 minutes to serve just a drink. The place was understaffed, but there was no hint of trying to speed things up. The was no manager or anyone who looked vaguely in charge. The staff were all teenagers (although very polite and I got they feeling they had to deal with this level of disorganisation on every shift) and I am suspicious there were only teenagers in the kitchen too given the ridiculously simple menu! It is a beautiful hotel and I expected so luxury and refinement. Overall, it was very disappointing. It was meant to be an indulgent (expensive) treat and I feel that it was not worth half the cost.
If any one is looking for good deals for hotel rooms check . reserved a hotel on there and these guys had the absolute best prices just about anywhere!
Great stay recently. Felt very safe in a "Covid-World". Staff all super friendly. Food was good, room was lovely with a stunning view of mountains and sea.
Excellent hotel. Stopped in for a drink. Good atmosphere in bar.
Attended wedding. Great food, great staff, great location and great foods. Cannot fault it.
Very professional service at the hotel bar and good selection of drink there.
This was a wonderful hotel and great destination to start our weeklong golf trip. relaxed in teh spa before and after golf and surprised by the short walk to Royal County Downs!
Amazing family dinner at Percy French then the Polar Express , highly recommended
Beautiful hotel. Beautiful setting. Great staff. Very good Covid19 precautions
Was phoned to find out what time we wanted to check in, we arrived a hour early and rooms were not ready for 2 hours, room was cold and key cards did not work.
The iron PAT test was 6 years out of date.
Breakfast was nothing special the next morning, the only thing that was good was the doormen, they went above and beyond for us
I was at the park, not the hotel. I love the forest park. Free parking too.
2 quid for a cup of tea out of a flask into a paper cup is not impressive.
Had cup of coffee & toastie in Lighthouse bar, very reasonable & lovely atmosphere, was xmas eve, & the view was amazing...will return soon...
Wouldn't even give it a star at all as we stayed last night the 21st September for my husbands birthday room 313 room had no heating on in it was frezzeing very cold even our bed linen was cold to touch room was very dated and when walking to toilet in our bath tub there was black short and long hairs all over our bath tub makeup on shower door went straight down to reception and complained manger just apologized sent a cleaner in to clean room while we was just checked in... was disgusted at this point... room took so long to heat up as there was only a tiny heater... breakfast was a disaster waited 15 -20 minutes on a breakfast table for 2 and then we where put right beside a fire extinguisher every time my husband wanted to eat he kept bashing his arm off it as there was no room... would never recomend this hotel to family and friends... as they just wasnt good enough...
