Went here for an evening conference, fableous looking hotel located right next to the Mourne mountains. It's 5 * and looks the part, ample parking, friendly staff. As it was business I did not sample food or drink or any of the amenities at the hotel

Absolutely fabulous, the staff were extremely friendly and Andrea at reception was more than good when my mother needed to switch rooms for access reasons. We were served in the morning by a lovely girl who mentioned she had just started and she was great too. The facilities are top notch, and the spa was lovely for its treatments. The view we had was beyond compare as we had the front view of the beach and sea so I couldn't fault it!! Would definitely recommend slieve donard

Visited for food yesterday and as always had a lovely late afternoon. Fairly pricey but to be expected. A special thanks to Nell who served us in the bar. She was so helpful, friendly and went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our visit. A real asset to this hotel.

Nice enough hotel just let itself down with a few things. Like only 3 bottles of water and 3 towels in room when we had a party of 4. Then there was the wait for breakfast I understand they were busy but to wait over an hour with kids and then be told it was because they decided to add some random person to our table just is not acceptable. Definitely would not stay again.

Just spent a wonderful 2 nights. The room was very comfortable. Staff were incredibly friendly and courteous. Dinners and breakfasts enjoyable. Scenery is beautiful.
Only cons I can list is a few areas are in need of repair. Examples: Bedroom window sill (314) and ceiling in pool area have paint pealing off. These take away the beauty of the hotel.
Love Hastings Hotels. Keeping the duck collection growing.

Bright spacious bedrooms , wide corridors , pleasant , helpful staff but following a very poor breakfast , with the oddest scrambled eggs I have ever seen or tasted , didn't bother to eat there again .
Beautiful views from the dining room however , which compensated somewhat , for tea and cold toast.
The Drawing Room was bland , grey ( very grey ) with little or no thought given to the decor of what could / should have been a beautiful room .
The small museum outlining the origins of the hotel's background was interesting and attractive.

Best hotel in Ireland. Spectacular location with miles of beautiful sandy beach out front, and behind the magnificent Mourne mountains. Beautiful victorian building. Luxurious inside with numerous different sitting areas. Massive spa area with pool and jacuzzi looking out on beach sea and Mourne Mountains. Staff so friendly and helpful. Food is fantastic, with a great wine list. Good for gluten free. Rooms are first rate. Royal County Down Golf Club next door.

Beautiful hotel. We were upgraded on arrival to a large room. Rooms are well provisioned with toiletries, bathrobes, slippers and biscuits with the tea station! Breakfast was great - lots of choice and all fresh. Some foods had info labels with them, explaining their origin, which I thought was a nice touch for foreign guests. We didn't try the spa this time around, but would definitely stay again.

What a wonderful peice of Northern Irish history! Very disappointing that the railway that created this amazing hotel and all of its stories is no longer an operational station, now an Aldi of all things completely inappropriate! Still worth a visit to give you a taste of what the town of Newcastle can offer the tourist travelling through the suburbs surrounding Belfast and how they are still able.to create a seaside environment worthy of the 60's & 70's eras that are no longer with us. Well done, definately a day to remember!

We stayed here on the first night of our honeymoon...

We stayed here on the first night of our honeymoon, after enjoying our stay at the Europa Hotel.
Upon arrival, the staff already new who we were (Europa staff kindly advised Slieve Donard staff), so myself and my wife felt like we were celebrities.
Everything about our stay was perfect. The Duty Manager at the time took great care of us, making sure we were well looked after.
The room was beautiful and the breakfast was dangerously tasty.
