I never stayed there I was in the grounds which seem to be well maintained
We stayed in the loveliest room with the best view ! This hotel holds a special place in my heart.....we will visit again and again !
This classic hotel adds a timeless feel to a any event or stay
Amazing. Beautiful mountains and sea in the same place.
First class service. Excellent food
Friendly attentive staff
A great experience through out
Brilliant Hotel from beginning to the end of our stay Service Breakfast Excellent Views and walks Amazing Beach Sea Mourne Mountains what more do you need near an Exceptional Hotel
I went to the slieve donard hotel this morning at 9.45 am to have a scone and a coffee. The receptionist was very nice and told me to go to the lighthouse lounge where i would be able to have a scone and have a view of the sea. When i went down there was no one about except for a person vacuuming who told me it opened at 10 am.I waited until 10.20am and asked 3 different people when it opened and eventually a woman came and told me it would not be open until after 11am as there were staffing problems. If i had not enquired no body would have come over to me at all. I was then directed to the dining room but when i asked for a table they were all taken.I was then directed to the lounge which was empty. I did not want to go into the lounge so i was directed into a drawing room where there was a table which had not been cleared. After about 10 minutes my order of a scone and coffee came. I had a scone which was hard. I had a voucher which was a christmas present and went especially to use it. I wont be back again especially since it is supposed to be a 5 star hotel.
Great night stay for the whole family. Staff where super with our kids too. Nothing was too much hassle. Defiantly be back maybe with out the kids next time!!
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting but expensive dinning.
My favourite hotel. After a strenuous walk to the summit of slieve donard mountain a few days of luxury at the slieve donard hotel is the best thing ever
The staff are very friendly and welcoming the food is only great and so are the amenities and it is very wheelchair accessible which is very good
Had an early bird dinner at the Oak restaurant. A gorgeous place, lovely building, grounds and location with stunning views.
The dining room was lovely and very nicely decorated.
The staff were helpful and very friendly, Very good stead.
The food was enjoyable, tasty and not overly expensive.
However it wasn't very impressionable and would not done again for the food.
But would recommend the experience
Twenty minute queue at reception before checking in, superior sea view room small, diggers working outside, bed very soft and part of extractor fan hanging off. Felt like we needed a break after. Highly disappointed as this was a special occasion for us.
Great meal but the floor staff were very slow in taking orders and clearing finished courses.
We sat at 7pm and finished at 10, the poor kids were wrecked!!
Stayed here a few days. What can I say a beautiful place and wonderful staff. Would stay here again.
Great service, view and food. Staff really helpful and the leisure centre is good
Rooms beautiful, service good.... Breakfast wasnt great at all, felt like i was in a school canteen
Fantastic place we go every year on our anniversary and we get treated like lords. Love it.
Super hotel and grounds plentyof attentive and professional staff
Could do a little better, high price does not always mean best quality, the manager should look at NH hotels for an example.
Not bad. Beer expensive and though breakfast was poor. Room and view was nice though
Very poor hygiene, food left in hall on a tray for 24hrs
For a 4 star hotel it was dirty dishes and fill of excuses !
Lovely hotel hadn't much time to look round the grounds but i would like to visit again
BETTER THAN THE RITZ, LONDON
Afternoon tea at the Slieve Donard is far better than afternoon tea in the Ritz, London. Beats the Ritz on quality, atmosphere, service and price. On Saturday 11 June 2016 we had afternoon tea sitting at a table overlooking the sea, listening to a very accomplished harpist and eating a wonderful variety of freshly made sandwiches, cakes and scones. The staff were very friendly and courteous. This was a lovely, leisurely experience and we will be going back there soon again.
I had never been here until I went for a Wedding Reception ... I'd heard it was good, and it didn't disappoint ~ lovely place, and all staff I came into contact with were friendly and helpful. Food was top class too !
Great sea views, from the front, and mountains to the side ... someone from N.Ireland once told me it had a reputation for being one of the best hotels in the country, and it certainly earned that status in my opinion.
Not as good as when I visited last year. Breakfast was awful, the bacon seemed boilded and flavourless, which was very disappointing as I was looking forward to it. I thought I just got a bad day, but when we went back for dinner it was More
Stunning hotel with sea views on the Irish sea, friendly staff and beautiful decor, between the Mourn mountain and the sea... You really feel special and the spa is not to be missed too...
Attended work conference in Grand Ballroom. Facilities were lovely. Most of the food was okay - we had a buffet lunch and some snacks during the day.
Beautiful surroundings. Lovely foid and lovely staff.
Food let me down a bit: short menu, and the food was ok. Also, can't see why there is not a fridge in a premium room. All the rest was good. The views from the room were amazing!
love it.. have been twice now for my anniversary, we get a spa package and love it.. the only issue is the drinks at the bar cast you an arm and a leg
Leisure centre (errr.. sorry.. "spa") is to die for. Food mediochre. Best if you can get a deal!
2 night's Monday Tuesday to celebrate anniversary. .quiet and relaxing just what we wanted beautiful room x
Nice bar and atmosphere. Friendly staff I will be back again.
Lieve Donard
Superb architecture of this hotel.
Have a good stay
Service very poor throughout this hotel
Food average.
Review update: I took the plunge and joined the sap today . I've a feeling I'm not going to regret it..
Absolutely amazing!! we went to the spa 2 weeks ago on a day pass the staff were lovely the place was so clean and the views sitting in the hot tub or unreal it's just such a pity the membership is so expensive
Sheer luxury, faultless service and impeccable staff.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, hotel is fantastic, the spa is fantastic, and also the breakfast is fantastic
I love this hotel and have stayed here a good few times, I always come here for birthdays etc, and always have received a good room, the last time I visited was for my daughters birthday, the first time I took her here to stay, she didn't get much sleep as we were in a room right above a wedding, Music was so loud and effected my daughters sleep, I am disappointed as familys shouldn't be treated any different than couples, especially when we are all paying the same, I do love this hotel but I'm not sure it is family friendly.
Stayed here with the family for the night. Beautiful hotel and room was lovely.
Very disappointed. Booked this hotel for my brother and his partner after a difficult event in their lives. After trying for a number of hours to get through to hotel reception, I requested that a bottle of fizzy stuff be left with a note in my brothers room on his arrival. This was not fulfilled but I was charged anyway, money taken directly from my account. The waiting times to get through to this hotel are ridiculous there is never anyone to answer calls. Such a shame.
Amazing hotel and views. Staff amazing so friendly. It s the first time I have been there and quickly booked in again. We only stayed one night this time. 7:30am drilling started from work being done on the spa. A bit early if quests are staying I think. The breakfast was not great. Toast and cooked breakfast was cold. I was disappointed in the breakfast from such a lovely hotel.
Had dinner at "Percy French" restaurant. Dining room had a really nice atmosphere and staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately food was just average for us that night. We ordered the fish and chips but found the "crispy" batter soggy and undercooked and not very appetising. For the relatively high price, it wasn't worth it that night.
Caters more towards the older customer however as someone with no tolarance for children it was nice. Spa isn't big but nor is the hotel, 100 rooms I think.
Amazing stay. Warm and cozy rooms with the creature comforts you'd need. Beautiful sea and mountain views. Lovely little seaside town.
Hotel was lovely, rooms immaculate, grounds superb. Service at dinner was terrible with lots of mistakes and people swooping in to remove plates then forgetting about us, really shoddy. I sent two complaints to the manager and did not receive a response which I do not expect from an establishment such as this. Expensive and should be outstanding but service speaks volumes as does customer care.
Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff. Rooms clean and comfortable. Food very good. Drinks quite expensive.
Brilliant place to go. My husband and I have a been here a few times and every time we come we fall in love with it again. We recently attended with our son and they couldn't do enough for us! Matthew the trainee manager was so lovely and very helpful!
Amazing hotel with lovely rooms, a stunningly scenic setting and very helpful, friendly and dedicated staff! The place to stay!! Would absolutely recommend and would love to return!!
Lovely spot for a few nights away. Fantastic facilities and lovely helpful staff
Old fashioned elegance. Good spa. Commanding view of the Mournes. Great for you golfers too.
Unreal everything. Spa, staff, location..... sit in the sauna at dawn and watch the sunrise over the glassy still water yards away before your 7 course breakfast and tell me the bill wasn't worth it. Kids had an absolute ball too. Very family friendly.
Had an amazing spa treatment ...staff fantastic...
Wonderful hotel with gorgeous rooms - ours had a wonderful view over the sea. Spa facilities are great too.
The place is beautiful and the staff are very obliging. The spa is out of this world and the bar has a fantastic selection of wines.
Stayed here for a surprise birthday night away. Staff were very friendly and helpful and even wished me happy birthday when we were checking in. Room was spacious and clean with beautiful views of the Mournes and the sea.
Staff were also helpful when there was an issue with the Percy French restaurant (we had booked it for dinner, but it was closed when we arrived for our reservation). However, staff very kindly accommodated us in The Oak restaurant within the hotel.
Was nice but car parking had bad lighting in which I tripped
I was taken here by a very special woman. Had a lovely time. Evening meal and breakfast excellent. Used the gym. Very good training session. Unfortunately the spa and other facilities were not yet open.
I had a very relaxing two night stay but on arriving the shower and bath had hairs in them, There was also a lady s earring on the floor.
I ve stayed in budget hotels that where cleaner. The dressing gowns where like cardboard. The staff where very polite and helpful. The spa was very relaxing. In conclusion over priced for what is was...
the view as we sipped our Sauvignon Blanc and coffee (for the driver) - elegant surroundings offering a window on the Mournes
