My son was a resident on TN until this summer. He joined the ANG and relocated to Salt Lake City as that is where they need him. SLCC told him financial aid and out of state waivers would take more than a month to process leaving him the option of paying out of pocket the out of state costs. I Do not recommend this school.

$3 for a small soda is pushing six flags or Disney for cost. I get it, you have high school students taking classes at the college who don't have transportation, so it's a target rich environment, but that's still a lot of dough.

The Salt Lake Community College Bookstore is terrible. They sold me a defective book with a misprint, and I didn't notice this until I reached the end of the textbook. At the end of the textbook was a book page that I could've printed from my own house. This page would fall out. I didn't know that my textbook was like this until I read the chapter at the end. However, by the time I reached the end of the book, it was the end of the semester. They didn't give me a refund, and didn't give me any type of compensation. Very disappointed

Been going here for 6 years, have not made any lasting friendships. You go here, pass your classes, and move on. Tuition is expensive, parking is a bit of a hassle, and there are almost no on-campus food options past 5pm. If you are a night student, better eat before you get on campus.

I went here for a few years. There were nonstop hassles with the financial aid and the speed at which the courses moved. They rush you through school and constantly get details wrong with your financial aid, scholarships and/or tuition. I can tell you numerous stories of their screw ups that led to us having too many difficulties. I ended up dropping out because they couldn't do things right for me. My wife really hates going there and she wishes she would have just done her generals at the U. I wouldn't recommend this school to any prospective students. They have a D- grade with another site that grades colleges/universities. Most of the teachers there are part time and don't care about teaching which makes it difficult to do well there.

I enrolled in Fall semester 2016 to take a couple of online classes. However, due to an emergency involving a family member's mental health and caring for her dependant alongside working full time, I had to drop out of that semester before I paid tuition and before classes started. However, your end showed no record of me dropping the classes through My page, and I was kept (unbeknownst to me) enrolled in those classes without ever being able to attend them. I was also billed for the classes, which I didn't know until I started receiving collection notices from the school. I was told that they could only clear the tuition and classes from my account if I had documentation as to why I had to drop the classes. I was told the documentation had to be a letter from a doctor or something similar, which I am not able to get due to the unique nuances of the situation. I was told I had to pay for the tuition, even though I never even got to attend any classes and dropped them before the semester started. I paid the tuition to avoid problems with collections, but this situation left me with a hold on my account and no way to pay for or register for this semester. I would really like to transfer my credits from another school to SLCC to finish an associate's of computer science, but I am now unsure about my future involvement with SLCC due to the nature of this issue and how it was handled (including various staff members giving me contradicting information every time I called).

The Salt Lake Community College bookstore is right in the middle on the main floor of the Student Center building at the Taylorsville campus. This book store serves not only the students and helping them obtain their text books and supplies and materials for being a successful student, it also has lots of crazy random things like cool keychains and magnets for your fridge and I bet you could even probably find some pretty awesome Mother's Day gifts in there too! It has all kinds of cool Salt Lake Community College t-shirts and sweatshirts and hoodies, it's a fun place to go!

My experience at this campus has been one of the worst I have ever been through. My financial advisor made me wait an hour and a half to tell me I'd have financial aid for fall semester, only now to find out he had not sent the paperwork in. Due to leave for the army in 22 days and I've had no luck with this campus. Highly suggest everyone saves themselves the disappointment and go to a better campus!

This school thrives on requirement changes to keep you enrolled and spending your money to retake classes you already worked hard to pass. With the high cost to attend, you may as well consider 4-year institutions. Seriously, it's not as big a cost gap in tuition and books as you think, add the fact that they'll change requirements as you attend, you'll probably spend the same amount of money.
This school rewards underachieving and does not help motivate you toward excellence as they should. When I signed up I planned to complete a program here because I had a great experience at a junior college in CA, but instead I will be counting down the days until I leave elsewhere.
If you don't know where to place your chips, bet on your future, and avoid this place at all costs.

Honestly the worst since this semester (Spring 2019). Everything is way more expensive, and they refuse to fix mistagged items as they were here before the switch to the new company). New employee attitude is pushy and somewhat aggressive, and as I ve mentioned many items are twice as much as they used to be. Such a disappointment as I used to buy all my supplies here. Do yourself a favor though because this store is now run by a big business nationwide company that does not care at all about the students here. Go get your stuff on amazon, walmart, wherever else you can because I can guarantee you it will be a better experience than shopping here.

I just graduated with my associates degree! SLCC was the place for me. Truly everything about it as an education experience was phenomenal. The class sizes were small, allowing me to get to know my professors and ask questions. The knowledge I received seemed to be just at the level I would expect from a university. Every professor I had seemed genuinely invested in my learning and success.
SLCC also has great resources, the DRC was great, free tutors helped me integrate the info, the academic advisers were generally (more on this in a bit) great, the food pantry for food insecure individuals is great, the financial aid office was helpful, the transfer events, you name it. It all was great. They offer many courses at many different locations. And ALL OF this was for a very reasonable price (look into SLCC promise too for help paying for school).
2 small but important critiques. First, the free bus UTA pass they offer for students (and faculty) is awesome! However, as a student who had to take classes at three different campuses having to get a bus between them could take up to 1 hour!! they used to have inter-campus shuttles which would get you from the main campuses in about 30 minutes. I Would like to ask for their return and make them even quicker! Also, with many locations (which is great) I think it's important to look further into offering more courses at each one (for example most of my science courses as pre-health were limited to Taylorsville or Jordan)
Second, the staff where all awesome! With that said, I think some improvement could be made in general academic advising. They were always kind and thoughtful when I went to them. But often I felt confused after leaving or like my question was kind of half answered. I know they're general advisers so it's a lot to expect to have them know so many different things but I think some more training for them on how to help students would be great.
All in all SLCC is a great institution to get into secondary education or boost your career options! I would go there again in a heartbeat! Thank you for the quality education I received!

The staff were super helpful, I could not find a book and they took me right to it. Another time I was in they wouldn't match Amazon's prime price but I needed the book right then so had to pay more. They will also hold a book if you call them.
I have attended this institution for about 3 combi...
I have attended this institution for about 3 combined years with a two year break in the middle. I have had nothing but problems with their faculty and staff, their online programs and their poor use of funds. I set an appointment to meet with a career advising officer and was there one half hour earlier from when I was told to be there and I watched that officer walk out and ignored me. She didn't even leave anyone to cover her remaining appointments. When I finally did get to meet with this person and told them my career path I wanted to take Jane Doe had me sign up for the complete wrong classes. For my career path I CANNOT miss class and if I do, I have to make it up. It is very hard to do that because I work full time and class cuts into my time at work already. As for the online programs and services, they are in my opinion severely underfunded and outdated. I took an online course that I grew to dread doing because it was filled with problems. My brand new computer and programs were not compatible because their programs were obsolete. I informed my instructor many times and eventually about my problems. Jane Doe told me to be at her office at a certain time and we could figure things out, well I had to leave work early and drove 45 mins to get there and have her gone after she knew I was coming. When asked, her response was "Im not usually at that office that day". She could not really speak basic English. My overall take of SLCC is a horrible institution and you get what you pay for. I would NOT recommend going here. Pay more money for a better and more worth while education.

Absolutely amazing!!! I'd give it 10 stars of I could! Professors are very smart, friendly, and good at teaching. Many options for financial aid for the poor, and very easy to understand what you need to do to graduate. WiFi is set up so you can go to other colleges and universities without needing to log onto the wifi each new time.
So many classes at all times that is harder to find classes that don't work with your schedule than it is to not be able to.
They have advanced equipment like an electron microscope for students and with professors that know how to use it properly.
Free tutoring, cheap parking passes, and advising. Bus pass for a month is only 15 dollars with the one card. And career options to make money while your there.
GO HERE TO GET GENERALS AND ASSOCIATES, THEN TRANSFER TO THE U OR WHATEVER FIRST!!!! YOU WILL SAVE THOUSANDS!!!!
*Also a ton of pokestops for you Pokemon masters

This school is full of losers. The students couldn t get accepted anywhere else and the instructors couldn t find a job at any real university. I took a couple of classes here and wished I had not wasted my time and money. The bookstore is your typical campus ripoff, with inflated prices and poor service. Professors use it as another way to get your money unfairly, especially in the foreign language department.

Very bad experience with a counselor not just once but twice , she made my family member who has never been in college before and just graduated from high school in a different state feel very upset and uncomfortable, she was not sensitive at all , she treated us like we were dumb and she was a smarty Pants, just listen to them and say yes to what ever they say or nothing at all.
If your going to talk to a counselor from redwood campus, do not give personal opinions or something against what they say because remember, they know it all and will make you feel dumb.

Where great professors go to get their start. The behind the scenes stuff isn't as good as their classes the advisers are really overwork as are the staff but they do all that they can for their students. I'm very glad I got my associates here before moving on. I preferred classes at the South City and Library campus's.

I first went to the art institute to learn animation. Then I found out that I could go to slcc for not even half the price. and guess what. The classes are BETTER! if you're into art and film stuff, slcc is the place to be. They just barley remodeled the south campus they got and it comes complete with all these studios and labs for film and music and animation- it's just great. instructors are good. its awesome.
If you're into anything slcc is the place to be. I'm into all kinds of stuff so it's great they have such a variety of classes. they even have a mountain biking class and you go riding around on all these cool trails.

My son attends the ECCLES LAB SCHOOL FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT, so this review is for that, not the college itself. This school is amazing! The teachers were very good with my clingy, sensitive 2 year old, and now at 2 and a half he loves going to see his friends and teachers. I really love the small class rooms and hands on learning, the attention they pay to each child and the positive atmosphere. It made leaving my baby not a scary thing! I would recommend this school to anyone!

They have a great range of classes and class times, but the entire application process is needlessly confusing. A few years ago I attempted to go to school, and use Federal Financial Aid, and they had a horrible system in place for helping the students and explaining that process. You are not able to talk to anyone over the phone easily, and it was so frustrating that I ended up going to another school, just because they walked me through the process and gave me my options clearly.
Worst math department. They have no math teachers ...
Worst math department. They have no math teachers that can teach or answer a question. They won't explain anything. Who ever is in charge of the math department needs to go. I took a half block math class and got a b but the final test I got a d so I have to re take it. Pit of the 22 students in that class 17 had to re take it. So the school made an extra 6 thousand dollers. The final was alot of questions not talked about in class or even in the book.

Overall a really good facility for what it is: a community college intended to give a basic education at a fairly cheap price. Not fantastic, not the ritz, but it gets its job done well. For the most part, you can make it through the majority of your time here without needing to contact an adviser, although if you DO have to do so, it can be a real pain. Overall, 5 stars for what it is, but if you are looking for something a bit less like a hybrid High School/college experience, look elsewhere.

Paid for the application fee but never signed up for the program I inquired about. Months later I get a bill in the mail demanding over $400 with a late fee on it. Called the school and they told me to get a letter from the teacher saying I never went to his class. Tried calling and emailing the teacher, but 2 weeks later nothing. This school is pathetic and wrongfully charges you

I love this college. I only wish that the community college was a 4 year institute. Every professor I've had is awesome, and loves their job. The campus(es) are beautiful, and the tuition is on par with something most students can afford. I found financial aid very organized, and registering for classes was super easy. I'm in my second year here, and wouldn't trade it for a "big" college setting any day. SLCC is 60,000 students strong, and feels like a small, intimate school.
