Have to say how great Julie has been on the Sunflower unit. My friend is a patient there, and Julie has been so kind and great in helping me get some things to her during the covid restriction time. Julie is one of those caretakers we all would like to have if that time comes. My friend who stays there also loves her! Thank you. Keep spreading the love,,,,,,,,,

I have worked in multiple different rehab and retirement homes. Upon my grandfather moving in, I thought they would share the same respect and care I gave all my residents. I was WRONG! After visiting him a few times, I noticed residents who were soiled, many whom were asking for help or saying they were in pain and needed something. I understand that they may be under staffed, but hygiene for non able bodies is not something to skimp on. I think the last straw for me was when I visited my grandfather recently through the window and noticed him and even a few workers not wearing masks! As of right now, they have multiple confirmed cases and even sent letters out to families, much like mine, stating such. If you want a family member in a rehab or retirement home that cares and is even a little bit ethical, do not send them here.

Complete lack of organization. Took me weeks to reach admission coordinator, Alexa (I understand COVID, but a return call with correspondence would have been nice). Social worker Abigail also let my mother sign herself out AMA and revoke POA despite a diagnosis of severe cognitive disorder (dementia). She said she could not wait until my mother's doctors offices could be contacted the next morning to send over documentation indicating mother was unable to make her own decisions aka medically incompetent because it was not already in the system and they could not "hold her against her will". Seems odd because she had been trying to leave for two days and none of the other staff said that. Within two days of leaving AMA my mother ended up in the hospital for reasons she ultimately needed to be in a facility for.
Not a great experience and would not recommend.

Everyone was so nice and helpful. Different food options, therapy was great to work with. If I needed something, there was someone there even in the night. I got to go back home, so thank you for all the encouragement.

I'm giving Shawnee a five star. My helpers and the staff made a plan for me , kept me busy. Always had choices that fit me , they became my friends . Fast light response, the same team members daily. Thank you Shawnee Gardens for making me get back home and up on my feet again.

Good evening to everyone in Goggleland. When I was a kid I told my dad I wanted to help people he replied before you help someone you have to be able to help yourself first. I thought about what he said and put together a plan as I got older. Started working in hospitals as a E.R.aide,C.N.A.,Psychiatric Aide all of the position with certification. Because I wanted to help people. For the last 30 years several people and myself have formed groups in our community because we just simply want to help. Our community help has taken us to help in events such as taking water to Flint, Michigan and we sent donation to Louisiana because of the direction that we had to take was overtaken by water and we may have been unable to get in or back home so they told us not to risk it. To make a long story short my story has been a dream come true such as other people along with many sacrifices and the lord's gracious hands over us we have been very successful in our relationship with our community because he knows our hearts. In closing I wish to Thank the Almighty for giving me the opportunity to help people, Thank you to several people that have donated to a worthy cause that says someone else needs help. And please don't let us forget at one time each of us will need help.

Do not place your loved ones here if you value their health and well being. The negligence is almost hard to believe, it is so severe. We just hope the authorities step in before another family is left heartbroken due to the incompetence or just plain lack of humanity that exists at this facility.

I Do recommend Shawnee Gardens . I stayed here for my Therapy , the staff were pleasant and made it as much of homelike as it could. The food was okay, but I'm picky. They did there best to go get different items for me. Candy was my favorite she always was going above. Thank you for assisting me to get stronger and make it back home.
