Under the COVID 19 situation, the zoo is undergoing several upgrading projects. A lot of attractions and displays are closed and the crowds are much less. Looking forward for a better zoo when they reopen their new attractions.

Good for a causal and long visit. Has several kiosks with staff explaining details of the exhibits. Must do. Carry lots of water with you. You will be thirsty. The tram is worthless. Avoid it.

If you had been to Singapore and you haven't seen Singapore zoo, you really should take another trip and checkout Singapore zoo. They literally doesn't have cage. You can easily spend a day there. You get chance to feed the animals for a small fee. You could get up close to animals while feeding which was fabulous. Kids as well as adults would for sure love the place. Zoo is far from the city but the bus connections are good. Best way to get there is by bus, it's cheap and reliable.

As expected by the reviews, The zoo is amazing, can be said as world class zoo. People have said it's better than the Australian zoo. Staffs and management are well organized and helpful. Amenities like food and drinks are comparitvely costlier inside. However, you fetch cold water from the water station for free. Also, make sure you carry an umbrella, if the day is predicted to be sunny.

It was really wonderful and it was big. If you are visiting this place make sure you come early so that you can have a look at all the live shows and plan the trip properly so that you don't have to miss out on anything. It was hot so I would recommend shorts and t-shirt and you could carry and extra just in case. Carry your own water bottles and put on comfortable shoes cause you would have to walk a lot or you could just use the cab service which you would have to pay for a one time ticket.

Mandai zoo is the best zoo I have ever visited. There is a wide variety of animals from all over the world and the animals are well taken care of. The animals are not kept in cages and the enclosures are designed to resemble the habitat they live in. There are four animals shows and you'll get to see the zookeeper interact with the animals during feeding time. There are signages in Chinese, English, Japanese and even in braille. There is even a KidZone for your children. I would suggest visitors to bring their own food as the drinks and food in the zoo is expensive and the restaurant gets really crowded during lunchtime.

Awesome!! The whole place is so thoughtfully designed as the paths are shaded with trees and between enclosures, there are air-conditioned resting areas. The animals are well-respected and well taken care of. The walk-in butterfly enclosure is such a treat to the eyes. A place that is worth visiting for young children. Food pricing is on the high side as in most tourist attractions.

Love this place. Don't miss animal shows at all. Plan your tour accordingly. Kids love elephant show, birds show like anything. You can most of the animal species there. First check the map n plan your visit as soon as you enter zoo.
Suggestion - take one water bottle along with you must. It's very first rule. You can refill that in many places. If possible cap cooling glasses or umbrella will be safe and best. Start your day very early. So that you can finish main shows n relax your Afternoon time. It's must watch. (No words). Enjoy.

The zoo itself is decent with many happy rehabilitation and rescue stories but the enclosures are far too small for the animals and while I understand that every effort is made to ensure the comfort of each animal, it left a sour taste in my mouth watching seeing the Orang Utan enclosure being advertised as "free to roam" but with electric fences midway down each tree trunk, or how the leopard get to the roof of its enclosure in only a few leaps. Being Singapore, I expected more.

Definitely a-must visit.

Definitely a-must visit.
You can skip the Jurong Bird Park and Night Safari, but not this.
The place is big and has a lot of sights to see.
Be sure to plan your visit so that you can catch the animal shows and check out all the 11 zones in the zoo.

Amazing Zoo. Very very very big and prepared to walk a lot. Just take map from counter and check out Shows timing. Keep only one thing in mind that you have to attend all the shows if you are unable to see all animal enclosure than it's ok but try to attend all the shows

I went for a season event called Lumina. Its a night walk on the zoo. There is no animal involved but there were many interactive consoles for the kids to play. Its was a good walk

Its changing and upgrading!
After so many years, the Singapore Zoo is truly innovating and giving the animals' habitat a boost of a more homely look and feel, and the visitors valuable interaction and information of the animals. I love the latest Zoo-rassic exhibition which surprises the visitors with the cleverly located "moving" dinos. My kiddos love the morning Jungle breakfast with wildlife and animals feeding and occasional "popup" stations to learn more after e smaller animals.
My kiddos and me love going to the zoo.

I've visited this Singapore Zoo 8 years ago and now again. Still the best Zoo with variety of animals and clean. Toilets here are also clean. Children will definitely enjoy their trip. If can, buy tickets online to save queing up time.

The Singapore zoo is a must visit. One of the zoo's where you can see the white tiger. The shows they have in the zoo are amazing and you shouldn't miss them. Watching the sea lion performing in the splash show was on the best parts.

My partner and me decided to do two parks (the zoo and the river safari) we got there around 2pm and when we went to the counter to buy the tickets, the lady said to do the zoo first as it closes at 6pm and the river safari closes at 7.30pm.
We got to the river safari around 5pm and got to the boat ride (the one you have to pay for) at 5.30pm, they stopped selling the tickets because there was too many people as it closes at 6pm!!! (The que wasn t even big). The water boat ride I was so so excited about and have been for ages. Gutted and disappointed completely.

Went with a 3 year old who loved playing on the rope bridge as well as the butterfly area with birds walking around. Problem is many of the things at the Kids play area were closed and the Aircon in the KFC and gifts shops was barely on making it super stuffy. The really need to fix up and open all the stiff at the Kids play area.

Drinking station are placed around the zoo.
Must watch the show especially the sea lion show. It is held in a shaded area.
Lots of collection items to get around the park (the stamping plate).
Snacks n foods are available throughout the park. Theres even a kids waterpark inside there. I would say its a great place to spend ur whole day there.
However those who wanna cover the whole zoo, i would suggest allocate around 6-8 hours for a complete experience. You can use either a pdf version of the map or you can get a map at the entrance.

Ive been to many Zoos around the world and I must admit Singapore Zoo is the better one in terms of upkeep and the animals to view. The space in abundance allows the crowd to spread nicely within the park which allows everyone the time to enjoy each area at their own pace. The zoo is very clean and the animals looks very well cared for but they do seem comfortable with the humans walking around that they tend to just laze around disinterested.
The food and snacks outlets in and around the zoo are quite expensive but its normal for attraction parks so bring snacks from home. Drink a lot of water if the weather is not favorable as the park is huge and wear comfort clothes as therr will be a lot of walking about.
The animal show is entertaining but the hours in between is very long so plan ahead.
Overall I love visiting the Zoo and hopefuly in future more animals can be on show.

My zoo experience was amazing. If you are an animal lover like me than even 24hrs at singapore zoo will seem less. Love the snakes.. made a friend too Rosy, a snow white snaky. Seal show and water splash show was too good. The actors were excellent.

The moment you will walk through the zoo, you can see it stands apart. Animals are cage free and many are roaming around the park but off course, security measures are also visible as safeguard for the visitors. All the area specially designed for specific animal where they feel comfortable and I think, they won t prefer to move other area where another animal kept in the zoo. I loved the way kept the animals and the space, plants and shades to make them comfortable with taste of original habitat.

It was truly a great experience for me to see the animals and their management in such a professional manner. Walking through the zoo, taking buggy from one sections another, food and drinks, lavatory and excellent cleaning management need to be appreciated.

Only one point I am not clear about animals being selected for night safari might be having stretch compare to the animal being displayed in the day time.

Am a fan of the zoo. Been there multiple times but as i was with a 6 year old and 2 year old, kept our trip short. Had a chance to feed giraffes (queue on a weekday started 15mins early) for $5.

1 Cheetah kept pacing about near the viewing window so we had a good view of it, while the other cheetah laid down on its side next to the viewing window. Hardly see them up close like that.

Elephants of Asia show seems to have changed, it now focuses more on their natural behaviour rather than show of strength which they used to do. Try to sit at the section where the soundbooth is. However, you probably need to be there 20-30 mins earlier to snag good seats.

Really good place to visit with kids. Well organized and good path to see animals. The shoes are the highlights, cannot miss them. No tiger and polar bear. Not the biggest zoo , but clean and we'll organized. If you have kids they will like it. Good for day picnic

Singapore zoo is located in 80 Mandai Lake Road. It was formerly known as Singapore Zoological Gardens. Take MRT purple line and alight at Bukit Panjang. Then take bus no 927 to reach to the zoo.
Singapore zoo is famous for its White Tiger, Kangaroo, Orang Utan, White Rhino, wild beast, cheetah. The zoo showcased it's unique feature 'Inuka', The Polar Bear which died on April 2018. The Polar bear was preserved in a climate controlled enclosure and it was the world's only Tropical Polar Bear. Now next to its cage is another animal 'Wolverine' which is a skunk type animal.
Visitors from all over the world visit the Zoo and has expanded it's features visitors friendly.

Honestly, our zoo is good. The animals are well-fed and taken care of, and the zoo is beautiful. We even get to be close-up to most of them as if we were in a safari, which is very rare or even impossible in zoos in other countries. However, unfortunately, as Singapore is such a small place, it is extremely crowded, and coupled with the humid climate, it can be very uncomfortable at the zoo. After walking for about two hours or so, I felt like I had exhausted myself thoroughly. In other zoos, even if the animal enclosures are placed extremely far apart, I would still be motivated to complete my tour of the entire zoo because it is much less crowded, and the weather is much more comfortable. We were sticky, sweaty and tired by the end of our trip, and the long waits for the tram (we waited about 45 minutes at tram stop 1) and being unable to watch the scheduled shows in peace left us feeling that this is a place we will never visit again - at least not in the next ten years.

Awesome place. Building work for a hotel goong on but does not effect the enjoyment of zoo. Worth a visit as animals very well looked after. Its a long way put of city so need to get metro and the zoo bus takes you from statiom7

The rental of the wagon was very useful as I do not have to bring a stroller and my son enjoys sitting in it. I also place my heavy baggage inside it. I went to the River Safari, it was memorable and provides lots of entertaining visuals to my son. Seeing the manatees in a large aquarium was worth the ticket price!

It is a great place for people of all ages. Very beautifully laid out. Amazingly a wide collection of animals and a nice walk around the zoo. There is provision for tram train rides around the zoo. There are certain specific shows at certain times of the day. You may visit the website to check those timings and plan your outing there. The monkeys seems to be roaming and swinging freely on the trees. The reptile section is quite interesting. For a thorough look and leisure outing, it will take half a day or so. There is a food court inside the zoo for a quick bite and to refresh yourself. There are feeding time for birds and animals for a certain fee at specific times, so it is good to check the website. The baboons have a huge area and they seem to have a kingdom of their own. It is really worth visiting and having an outing there with family and friends.

One of the best zoos that I ve visited around the world. The Singapore Zoo is great for kids and they provide lots of activities to keep them occupied. Lots of animal shows, large variety of animals and there s enough to keep you busy and occupied the whole day.

It s a huge zoo so be prepared to walk for a bit but if you re not a fan of walking, there are lots of trams available for you to hop on and off at different stops in the zoo.

It s a little to hard get to with public transport so my advice would be to just take a taxi or ride share to get there.

Foreigners who fly with Singapore Air to Singapore get a 10% discount on tickets too. The lady at the ticketing counter looked at our passports and asked for our flight numbers so I m not sure how she verified it.

Loved it. Really great zoo with lovely exhibits. We did breakfast with the orangutans which was nice. We were able to see them close up and breakfast was nice too. The elephant show is free and also worth watching.

A well maintained zoo at one with the wildlife it houses. I went with my extended family and we easily covered it in a day. Thanks multi cuisine breakfast buffet is worth it.
We had Baz (you win your wager of me not remembering your full name Baz!) as our guide, who gave us the best tips on covering the park and even Singapore! His coverage of life as a Singaporean growing up in Singapore and his take on the socio economic situation and even how so many couples are 2 years apart were very insightful and informative.
Thanks for the great experience!

1 star taken off for not enough seats along the walk ways as the zoo is big , not enough bins at the entrance areas, poorly maintained fans for ventilation.

1 star taken off for the price of food and accessibility of drinking areas and washing areas for the masses of visitors that visit the zoo especially on weekends.

Should have more solar shades, solar power can be used to power the fans to increase ventilation and the shades will allow the cooler temperatures.

There should be more eating options and more spaces at the eating places to cater to families with baby and small children.

At least should have Mac Donald, NTUC, kopitiam, KFC already there, NTUC foodfare.
Car parks should have also solar shades as the zoo area enjoy plenty of sun throughout the year.

The solar shades should be easily accessible for workers to clean the solar panels to make them efficient energy generators.

Drinking areas and washing areas should be at least 150m apart and at least spread evenly throughout the zoo to encourage cleanliness and hygienic practise for the visitors.

If all the above can be met. It'll be 5 stars !

Definitely the first place I would recommend a tourist to visit when they come to Singapore. They have a great variety of animals here ! You could spend an entire day just exploring the zoo as well as the river safari just beside the zoo.

Great place to visit, one of the top 10 best zoos in the world. You will get to enjoy watching many animals and get to see great shows and experience some animal interaction. The gift shop has many things pull you to buy them.
Be prepared to walk a lot and food around the area is not good at all and expensive.

So wonderful to see many animals are freely enjoying the atmosphere and are not in cages and having fun,
monkey's are friendly and the ability to feed the animals like giraffe and others under supervision is great ,
I didn't get to see the night safari but I hope it is also great,
So many informative boards about the animals,
The option to vote for which animals to rescue and finding is great,
Need more drinking water places,
The kids center is great idea they enjoy playing with rabbits, pony, and baby goats.

Billing itself as the world's best rainforest zoo, the Singapore Zoo is a pretty impressive place. The facility is clean and inviting, and the animals appear well treated, with plenty of lush vegetation and habitat space. The orangutans are particularly impressive, and visitors can watch as babies and adults alike swing high above their platforms and snack on bananas. There is also a large chimpanzee family, zebras, meerkats, a komodo dragon, mole rats, white tigers, kangaroos, and many other creatures.

A amazing place if u love animals. Before I didn't like going to zoos as they were kept in cages but in Singapore zoo they are kept in a open area, at the same time we can see almost all the animals. I very beautiful place and a must see.

A great day for the family. I was worried that the hot weather would make the animals sleepy and they would they be hiding in the corner sleeping but then enclosures are very well built such that the animals favourite rock or branch is in the centre of the enclosure. Easy walk for the kids. Demonstrations and feedings can get busy... get there before the advertised time. It is out of the CBD but taxis are coming and going
