It's an Orvis - this one is fairly small and empty to others I've been in. Same selection and stuff you'll find at other Orvis shops - parking is bad, or it was since Jackson was so crowded. Don't have any complaints, but nothing sticks out compared to other local shops.

Last July I asked the guide "I only have an hour, what fly can I use, and where can I wade the Snake?" I got Great advice. Hooked up s beauty within 15 minutes of hitting the water. Thanks!!!
I have never once had a good experience at this orvis. You shouldn't be looked at as a hindrance when you walk in tone down the cool guy a few notches. West Bank angler is the best!
Extremely knowledgeable staff working here at this Orvis. Had no clue what I was looking for with my first fly rod and they helped me every step of the way. First time out with the rod and I caught a brook trout. Thanks guys
I broke my Recon on my first day visiting my grandparents and I usually bring several rods with me, this time however I only brought the one. I called them up and asked what they could do and they said I could come in and they'd send off my rod or upgrade to the Helios 2 for a small price. Safe to say I upgraded and they even called and asked where I was and took all my info down to make the transaction effortless because I was going to be at the store 2 minutes before closing. Nothing compares to Orvis customer service. Do yourself a favor and buy their products and you will not be disappointed.
Highly recommend the 101 and 201 classes with Abel if you're new to the sport! He is a total boss, his instruction is really easy to follow, and it made the sport very approachable for me.
I would like to say, I'm a local, and Orvis has been the best shop to use since the summer tourist season has begun. The team at "the shop" has gone above and beyond what customer service should be. I like to spread my business between all the shops in town, but have just used Orvis since April. Maggie, J.R., Clairey and the team there have always been friendly, kind and insightful to whatever my needs may be. They are supporters of many awesome local non-profits, like Trout Unlimited, and Project Healing Waters just to name a few. Great shop, awesome fly selection, if I bought clothes brand new, I'd say they can even get a degenerate like myself looking respectful! A big shout out to this shop, and I am going to recommend it to anyone who has any needs for fishing, clothing, and even dog supplies. Tight Lines everyone, FISHON! Keith Hall
Visited store for a brief browse. We ended up finding something we liked. At checkout there was a technical error. The computer charged my card twice. Everything was handled very well, timely, and with alacrity. These guys are great!
I walked into Orvis in Jackson needing waiters, new fly line, flies, and various other things. I was greeted (initially nicely) by a lady named Clairey? My wife came into the store with me because they sold dog stuff, I made the joke saying Ah, this is how you trick the wife s into coming in too eh? (Innocent joke) Clairey goes on to lecture me on how I m sexist for saying that. (I look around the fly shop, it s me and 10 other guys). I then explained well my wife doesn t fish, I wish she would though and then the lady explained how she got divorced because she could not learn how to paddle correctly from her husband.. I was already put off but to make matters worse I told her we were just coming in to check the shop out (I actually was gonna buy things initially) because we were on our way to get coffee and McDonald s. Her response? Ugh, McDonald s? Eww. And then she walked away. I left without spending a dime because of her. Never have I been lectured by a customer assistant before. The experience turned me off to this shop AND orvis. I am traveling around the states and will discourage anyone from shopping here.
I wish if you were going to close at 5 you d update your google listings and other places that you close at 5. We drove quite a ways to get here at 5:30 and you re all locked up. It was quite the inconvenience.
Skip this Orvis all together if you can help it. The high prices at Orvis are tolerated because of the quality of products AND superior customer service. You can get one without the other at pretty much any store. I went in to exchange a broken umbrella with a lifetime warranty. Orvis is famous for their unmatched return policy and making defective purchases right. Right away they had to call in a manager for this (bad start) and the very first thing he said to me was, "you have a receipt?" Really? Keeping a receipt for an umbrella? When I told him no, he automatically said there was nothing he could do. I had to ask him to even look me up. When he did, he said I haven't made any purchases in a while, without even checking for the umbrella... So? The umbrella has a lifetime warranty... Then he said "he had no way to know if I even bought it at that store." Really?? First off, why in the world should it matter to a manager which location I bought it in?? Second off, it says Orvis all over it! Lol! Some manager! He wasn't willing to work with or even listen to me at all. He acted put out that I was even asking for his help. Not at all polite or friendly. I worked at Orvis for years and we always bent over backwards for returns and defective products. I once exchanged a 5 year old shirt at the managers request because the collar was fading. That's The kind of experience you'd expect from a place like Orvis! At least you used to. Sure gave a lot of fuss about exchanging a $30 umbrella with a warranty and still didn't do it. Is Orvis really struggling that much?...so I went next door to T. J. MAXX and returned some sheets I had just as long, with no receipt, and they politely gave me a store refund for the full price! Lol, Orvis should be fully EMBARRASSED for being totally showed up by T. J. MAXX customer service! Why bother paying a manager salary to someone that deals with a situation like that? Anyone at all could've done that! He needs to be demoted to an associate and have someone that cares about their job and their store's reputation take over. Surprising high amount of low ratings for an Orvis.. says a lot. Maybe I'll try the next one I find. I'll probably stop shopping there though after this. Maybe Orvis is still of great repute elsewhere, but don't expect that here. You and your money are nothing more than an annoyance here. If they're looking for stores to close post COVID, they should really take a second look at this one. Find a different tackle store or wait till can find the next Orvis. Not worth the hassle or experience for the high prices!
Update: I just spoke with Orvis customer service. I'm being sent a new product in 3 days! It was very simple. Obviously just a bad manager doing a poor job. Easy fix...
Orvis Jackson Hole is my go to fly shop when I'm in town for the summer. Abel and his staff are great and helpful, but not overbearing to where they make you feel like you have to buy something. The shop has a great fly selection and all the tools and apparel you could need. I'd highly recommend stopping by the shop if you are in the area.
Hands down the BEST shop for all my fly fishing needs! Orvis hooked me up with all the right gear, flies, and good looking shirts. I swear they are my lucky shirts! Their staff was super knowledgeable!! I think one of the ladies there is an entomologist or something because she knew exactly what was hatching on the river/gave me the perfect fly to catch a monster Yellowstone Cutty. I also got my whole family s Xmas presents here! Dog collars and dog toys for my parent s dog, candles and coffee table books for the ladies, and yeti coolers and Orvis shirts for the men. Will definitely be back! Thanks Orvis!!!
I gave this location a second chance and it will end up being my last. I'll be biased. First on the good side. The store is conveniently located close to town on a main road. For being a corporate retail store they close a little early. The store is nicely laid out and has a high end look and feel to it. There are some extremely nice pieces of gear and clothing. I was pleasantly surprised to see an entomologist working there that was very knowledgeable about the bugs. Ok now for the bads. This location is not your first stop for tackle. Actual fishing tackle is scarce and the focus seems to be more clothing and gear vs tackle....(personal frustration). Everything is well over priced. Most employees either have arrogant attitudes, act like your not important coming in or lack knowledge. For being a "high end" fishing retailer, I go in expecting the same for an experience and I leave disappointed and frustrated. If I am going to pay a premium, the experience and knowledge should be at a premium. Experience trumps most everything when shopping at any location. I dont care how good any product is, if I dont have a good experience I dont need to go back. To say you went to an orvis, for exaggerated pricing or high end gear, it's worth stopping by. But I'll continue my search for a more local small business great interaction and educating experience.
Stopped in while on a birthday vacation trip and talked with Able and his crew. Very helpful and showed me a great package deal from their store. When I got back to Texas I called them up and ordered a landing net and the great deal on a fly rod set. They shipped it out and I had it in a few days. They know their stuff, I highly recommend them
