I ve just heard it s horrible and one of the worst ones in the state

I thought New Orleans jails were bad. I have been calling over an hour and still no answer.

I have a family member that is currently in there and the guards are rude to her and will not give her the medication shed needs on a daily bases

I had a DUI at 57yo and had never been in trouble. I served 48 hours in Silverdale. I was shocked at how they ran things, I never received my meds, the food was horrible, it was overcrowded and the Ladies in charge were easily manipulated by the inmates that had been here several times.They were allowed to make SEVERAL calls, even leave to go to another cell. The inmates came back smelling like cigarettes. i asked to make a call and they said no. One inmate had snuck in xanax and was handing them out to everyone for blankets etc..... After finally getting to see a nurse she checked my blood pressure and it was 160/105. It is usually normal. I asked for tylenol and never received it and I also never received my medication. I served my 48 hours and can say, I will never be back there, however, I do feel sorry for the other inmates that are "stuck" in the system dealing with this day after day.

My wife had to spend 48 hours for a DUI. I called to get the release time at 8 in the morning. I showed up 20 mins early. I sat there for an hour before I called to see why she had not been released. A black woman answered the phone with the vernacular of an 8 year old child. I told her I was there to pick up my wife she made it seem like nothing was wrong and I was just inpatient. One more hour goes by and my wife calls me and tells me that they will not release her because there head count is wrong. And it would be an hour or two before she would be released. Which is not legal it is called over-detention as well as false inprisonment. I sit there for 3 1/2 before she is released. She told me that in fact no one was missing that they did there paper work wrong... When a prison flagrantly breaks the law because the employees can't perform there jobs they should be replaced.

I wish I could give zero how is this place so great for family and communication when the camera down for 3 days ! And the phone won't work ! And have no way to speak to nobody ! All that money amd won't upgrade for video chats or nothing ! just a funky new vending machine the point of that stupid thing beyond me !

This the largest group of incompetent staff members I have ever seen. They will lose/steal your personal property. They will not even look for it! If you want to see the scum of the earth then go to CCA

Cant find my friend. Every time i call it just rings and rings. Last time was on the phone over 3 minutes. This is is ridiculous and excuse my language but bullshit

I think that place should be shut down they go with heat and so many people in there that they sleeping in day room the sewer is back up andfecus everywhere

Posted bond for friend at noon and at 8 o'clock at night still sitting here they don't know what they're doing in there they can't answer you. it is literally the stupidest place I've ever dealt with. Had to call the bondsman back and make him come over here and get them to file the paperwork And I'm still sitting here

My sister is incarcerated here, and have had no issue getting in contact with the facility.

I know of someone that had to spend 2 nights there and encountered the worst inhumane treatment there. Anybody who speaks anything positive of this place is clearly lying as in saddest reality the staff clearly lie to everybody there, provide inhumane treatment and their phone system there is so impossible and to navigate and hard to make a phone call there with such automated messages going on in. The staff there is known to laugh and gossip about inmates which is highly unprofessional. I heard from my acquaintance that is facility is to shut down soon with worst lawsuits given to as they need to and this is the worst unprofessional facility that takes in people for profit. An amazing bondsman once told the person I knew how Silverdale is most unorganized and inefficient and most corrupt and inhumane.

Common sense is that even in a facility like this inmates for whatever reason shall be treated with respect and dignity and shall be able to reach their loved ones outside of the facility easily. Staff shall be treated with decency and respect too, though they must demonstrate themselves. I can imagine how a job in a facility like this is the worst job in the world making the world a worse place as should not be. Every facility shall have where everybody is treated with dignity, respect and humanity with decent and civil language, truth be told to inmates of procedures, healthy and eatable food and sessions of yoga, meditation and such.

Ive been calling this place for two days my husband fell and broke his foot and he still haven't received any medical attention at all at one point someone picked the phone then hung up needless to say they have a law suit coming

Horrible service. No one will answer the phone to help. Twice they picked up the receiver and hung up on me. Family members should not be treated this way.

How are y all 24 hours 7 days a week but can t answer one phone call

The facility under staffed. Female inmates were left in R/D for up to 5 days. They had no shower some were forced to be in a cup, and poop on the floor. If u a diabetic. Start praying. U will go into a diabetic coma before they get you your meds. The facility is dirty and full of mold. They paint over the mold. They keep it freezing in there. U get cold food and some of the c/o's don't care if they feed u on there shift

If Guards would quit trying to screw inmates and start trying to mop the damn visitation area it would be a start to a cleaner place! Or how about a little respect for the inmates family! The rudest guards and and just filthy! If it wasn't for people being in there it wouldn't be a need for y'all to be on payrolls there.. You might be on the streets committing crimes to feed yalls families! Ridiculous! Should be shut down.

Nobody answers the freaking phone.... are they stupid or what??? Been trying for hours to find out a bond amount and charges.... guess they need classes on answering the phone.....

They don't care about people prisoners or they're families

My son was treated very well there. They are served nutritious food and treated like human beings.

A privately run dumpster fire. No oversight. Unprofessional. Never pickup the phone even for bail bondsmen. Give no information to inmates on outdates. Rude to people coming to visit. Complete joke of a place.

I will never understand why these facilities make all this money on the inmates, and their families and have the raggly communication equipment. I could not hear any thing on the phone. Communication is very vital to the time spent with our love ones.

Its a jail and its not comfortable or pleasant, chances are you will make it out alive. And maybe you will have learned something in the process.
I speak from experience

DO NOT WORK HERE!!! The staff is rude, they don t care about the safety of their officers. They serve the inmates slop on a bun. The inmates are treated better then the staff. No one EVER gets to work on time people call out everyday. NOTE: hours are from 6am-6pm and it pays pretty well at $15 an hour. And with that being said I was put on suicide watch with an inmate at 6am when I arrived I was supposed to be relieved at 6pm but a certain seargent decided she wasn t doing it that night, so I ended up having to stay 8 extra hours getting off at 2am. But yet I still wasn t properly relieved, I had to let myself off of work that night and was still told to come in 4 hours later. And got written up because I wasn t properly relieved. They had me as a new officer fresh out of training run 2 60 man pods in E unit solely by myself. This place is very unorganized and full of dirty supervisors that bring in contraband.

I called booking to see if I could find out why my daughter was not out yet. The bonding co had gotten the paperwork complete hours ago. They picked up the receiver and put it back down twice, then would not answer the phone at all for at least 10 minutes. Not professional at all.

The officers attempt to make sexual contact 24/7, females doing the strip searches grabbing my penis and making me cough. Food service is ran by the rudest , foul-mouthed women, and I don't recommend the steak. No education courses, they run rec maybe once a week if lucky. I do worry with the IQ of many of the staff members and how they are able to opperate this place. They can't even run a chow line without the Lt stealing a tray or two. If you plan on being released don't count on it to happen that day, r&d pride their selves on how long it takes to let someone out a door, the complicated process. And medical, I don't even now where to start; do not have a medical condition , it will not get treated and will progress to worse. Even the odds of getting your medications daily is a challenge, inmates with staff infection kept in population to spread the infection. But if you're healthy and love being around the same sex while in constant misery, then this is your place. Come for the winter and stay through the summer, even on the weekends for a getaway from the family.

I was incarcerated in this facility and it could be run better by a group of honor students from the local high school. The staff caused me to miss my video arraignment while I had to lay on the staff infected floor for 6 hours before they finally figured out where I was. The results were that I couldn't get before the judge for 3 more weeks. I was arrested on a "no bond" probation violation even though my probation had expired 3 days before my arrest. Therefore I never got to mention it to the judge at my arraignment. I realize it's a correctional facility and isn't supposed to be comfortable. Inmates are still human beings and most are there on non violent drug offenses. Also, If you go in sick ..you better pray to God! He's going to be the only one there to help you. Most unit counselors are useless to get anything done. Ms. Santiago is the only one that filled one of the several requests I had. Other than that I couldn't get socks, clean uniform, bed sheets etc. Basic inmate necessities were largely ignored. I can almost guarantee you that a majority of inmates don't get the daily calories needed to sustain healthy diet. The air conditioners are run full blast even in the winter months leaving the temperature to the point of inhuman torture. I came home with walking phnumonia that I continue to recover from. The only good thing I can say is there was one C.O. (Stone) that was fair yet stern. He showed he could do the job without the job doing him! He still used his authority when necessary but also showed inmates a sense of compassion that left you with the feeling there was hope for the world after all. Luckily for him I hear he was fed up with the unprofessionalism of CCA and left for greener pastures. If the blind leading the dumb did anything for me. It made me look up the hundreds of lawsuits against CCA while reaffirming myself I will never go back willingly!

Sam DeLong. Most of your review is complete and utter B.S. To me, as a former officer, it sounds like the whining of an inmate that didn't get what they want. The one issue that is true is the medical comment. That is true, the medical facilities and nurses leave a lot to be desired. The food is well over the 1800 to 2000 calorie requirement, i worked the kitchen off and on for 3 years. you are not given what you want, you are given what you need (the concept of jail). If you didn't get your required goods and the counselor didn't do their jobs, it your responsibility to complain upward and not let them get away with not doing their jobs. Walk a mile in a C/O's shoes and then complain about the job they do...you wouldn't last an hour.

My Bail Bond company has posted many Bonds at this location, I am thankful for silverdale, I have seen 11 years of service from them, and the staff is better now than ever, Thanks Silverdale for releasing the people I post bond for!

This place needs to be shut down. I just got out. They had so many people in r&d that they was basically laying on top of each other having to share mats then it took 8 days to get a towel and wash cloth then I had to put my dirty uniform on after a shower cause they didn't hand out a extra uniform and then when everyone is supposed to be locked down the inmates open they're on doors and come out when they wanted no safety at all

This place is like most detention centers. Poorly ran and staffed with mainly lazy people.

Only gave one star because you can't give a negative star!!!!!! The dog pound is run by people that have more common sense than this place!!!

Guads are trained to make sure to never get along with inmates the guards also are to never agree in any way form fashion with an inmate even when inmate is in the right and the other party is in the wrong don't get me wrong there are a few decent guards working there like srg. Moore officers Moon ; WOODS ;IRVINE ; DERUHM THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING DECENT PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE SOMEONES LOCKED UP DOES NOT MEAN THEY'RE BAD PERSON IS MEANS THAT THEY WAS IN BAD SPOT IN LIFE BUT THERE IS STARTING TO BE STAFF MEMBERS LIKE ONE HOMOSEXUAL RACIST AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE NAMED COUNSELOR ALLEN THAT MAKE IT EXTREMELY ROUGH ON THE WHITE INMATES EVEN THE GOOD INMATES TO DO THEIR TIME AND MAKE IT JUST GO BY SMOOTHLY WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE Because he provokes VIOLENCE & PROMOTES RACISM AND SEXISM And I am A firsthand victim of Counselor Allen's racism sexism and Physical Mistreatment and not to mention counselor Allen's Verbal and mental abuse/torment just hoping that he can provoke a violet or just negative reaction out of the white inmate population please take this seriously thanks for your time no reason for this type of misconduct to be going on by our staff members in our detention facilities or penal institutions please help make a positive change buy simply spreading this review to Facebook or if possible to the general media example local news stations radio the Better Business Bureau the health department for the dirty kitchen that is visibly and completely unsanitary; inhumane to even come close to being able to serve food out of!!!!! spread this please just because they are incarcerated for whatever reason does not mean their animals their still human beings and rightfully deserve to be treated as such anybody that has read this please help me make this post go viral so we can help make a difference the treatment of any and all treatments or detention facilities and penal institutions please again thank you so very much for your valued time

The treatment of inmates is inhuman and disgusting. I realize it's supposed to be punishment but it's ridiculous! The way the place is ran only propitiates the cycle of inmates returning especially the addicts, no treatment, no help in any way to end the cycle of incarceration. Sad

The CO s and other guards are mostly complete cruel jerks who have no issue letting 15+ inmates sit in a tiny holding cell (R&D) for 48 hrs before they re even booked in and given a phone call. The women employees are much more cruel than the men, and cuss at even the most polite and innocent of 1st time offenders for DUI. The nurses are kind and the psychologist Dr. Vance is a saint and honestly they re the only ones that care what happens to you.

Every time I drive by this jail/prison. I never see the inmates outside. That makes me feel safe. If they're always locked up, they can never escape. I like that.

Nothing really about the website, BUT I WANTED to say I have NEVER SEEN or HAD to visit someone at a correction facility before, BUT if this place reflects others I'd have to say WHAT A JOKE, people say that white people are prejudiced against others BUT it's the other way around, they treat you like I've NEVER BEEN TREATED BEFORE. I am not prejudiced against any one AND WAS NOT raised that way so why do they treat us this way is my question. On top of that I guess they can show up WHENEVER they want and it's all ok abd then when people waiting kept asking what was going on they were LIED to by others that worked there when some of the others that had been waiting for 3 + hours and then be a B**** to everyone. Something is wrong here at this location BUT NO ONE CARES.

Having a family member incarcerated here really makes me angry at the lack of professionalism. When he was first transferred he was basically lost for a day as no one could tell me where he was. Once I knew he was there the phone time was difficult to purchase as one of the many rude operators gave me the wrong company entirely. Visitation is in a cramped room with several broken monitors which is not reassuring in respect to the conditions in the prison. Over all they give off the impression that 1 in 20 people care, the others couldn't care less.

It is what it is.. What do you expect from a private run facility that's not governed with same standards that other facility's are held to.
