Great charter. My family has always sent our guests to Silver Fox Charters for years and they airways come back with fish. Finally tried it myself this year and had a great time. Very professional and friendly captain and deck hand, my hook was always instantly baited.
I did a full day halibut charter. It was one of the most fun things I've done in a long time.

We went on the full day rockfish and salmon charter on the outrageous and we caught fish but the experience could have been much better. The captain didn t communicate and the deckhand was terrible. She didn t communicate either. It was obvious that they were there to pick up a paycheck and not because they enjoyed their jobs. If this was the only charter company I wouldn t charter in homer again. Next time I ll be trying another company. I hate giving bad reviews but I feel obligated so we can all make informed decisions.
Went on a half day halibut charter with my wife and daughter. Capt. Rick and Jake were a great crew, they worked hard to put us on fish and took care of all of our needs. We caught 6 halibut including one over 80 pounds. Beautiful weather, calm seas, and a great crew. I would recommend Silver Fox Charters to anyone headed to Homer. This was my first trip to Alaska and I would like to return one day. When I do, Silver Fox will be on my itinerary.

Went out early for a halibut/salmon combo in great weather with a couple of other fishermen. The boat was not clean and the cabin smelled strongly of diesel fumes. Gear was disorganized and a mess of old and new--some terrific, some having seen better days. We got into fish pretty early and brought in a bunch small halibut before the tide got too strong. Trolling for early salmon, we had heavy strikes twice and broke off both times without much resistance-- as an experienced fisherman, I question the integrity of the monofilament and given the state of the gear whether it had been changed out for the new season.
Stopped in at a honey hole to try for our last large halibut and filled our tags. The first one was about 20 # and the captain kept it out of water until we caught something bigger. He swore it was still alive but that seems pretty dubious both factually and ethically to me. As a catch and release flyfisherman, I can't believe that anything can survive that long out of water.
A young and inexperienced crew but really great company. the captain was grumpy and surly the whole trip--about what is not clear as the weather was terrific and the fishing decent and fairly steady. Don't get me wrong, we got into fish and filled our tags and the captain clearly knew what he was doing but there were a lot of details that should have been handled better and that are completely within the power of the charter. Would probably go with another captain next time.
Find another charter. I would really like to give all the details of why but first that would be too long and second I m not going to waste even more of my time because of this company. There are other charters that I ve been on in Homer that were exceedingly better than this one. Bobs trophy charters was one of the better ones. I m not trying to be petty. I just don t want other people to get taken advantage of like my party was; find another charter.
Great full-day experience with Kyle and Sam. Both know these waters quite well.
My friend Ashley and I booked a charter at Silver Fox because neither of us had ever gone halibut fishing. The guys at silver fox went above and beyond to make sure that all of our questions were answered and that we had a fun day on the water. At first it was a little timid intimidating being a couple of girls on a fishing boat but I left feeling like I was a pro with some awesome memories and a bunch of fish to take home. Our deckhand Boomer was our favorite part of the trip, he was very attentive and patient with us. When we come back to Homer we will definitely book again with Silver Fox. Thank you for the fun time!
Definitely enjoyed my day on Silver Fox charters. They put us on fish pretty quickly and were helpful. Kyle and Pat were the crew we had on board and the were very helpful and made the trip a ton of fun.
My group of 4 fished with Silver Fox for 3 days and every day was awesome. Our first day was with Rick, he did a fantastic job on making sure everyone caught fish - I think most of not everyone got their limit on halibut. Days 2 and 3 were with Kyle and Sam, they were awesome! We caught a ton of fish every day, even if the fish weren t cooperating, Kyle had a backup plan. Completely satisfied customer.
All five limited out. Crew was amazing.

Went on 2 charters with Silver Fox while in Alaska and limited out both trips. Guides know what they are doing and provided a great Alaskan fishing experience. Would use again next time we are in Homer.
