Sierra Point Lumber Company Review

This review is only for the window showroom. They have many Marvin windows on display so that's very helpful. However I found the service to be condescending and somewhat bullyish; whatever the exact adjectives, it wasn't a pleasant experience overall. I don't know if that is their standard MO or if that is reserved for a male sales person to female customer dynamic.

So many cool things. Great personal service. They are knowledgeable.

Good materials fast service, you don't need to wait for service or some one to help you all materials are accessable

Attention, Truck drivers specially if you have a load in Dry van/ Refers unit. Don't waste your time to deliver a load for them. On a phone conversation they told you, "There unloading hours start from 6.00am FCFS but once you get there. They will show you there attitude. I checked in at 5.30am there was two van including mine. One of forklift operator told to other truck driver, " they don't like van or refers truck, He complained into there shipper office but No body takes any action. So try to avoid this place as much you can. Good luck.

I always buy my wood here if I can. The employees treat me well and the quality is always head and shoulders above the depot.

Great place for remodeling supplies. Excellent supply of moulding. This is a stop for contractors who offer custom work with custom product. This is a very active lumber yard.

They are really nice and helpful. They also have free pallets!

Very unprofessional and non attentive sales department

Horrible service, front gate guards are rude and service in the yard sucks. If I didn't have to deliver here I wouldn't bother ever coming back.

Not good for trucker they strart receiving after 11:00 and you will loose your whole day work avoid if you can

Fast unloading times but they are very busy so you might be waiting on other trucks. I average 1 - 1.5 hours here. Once they get to me I'm unloaded in 20 minutes. Word of warning the unload area is a mud pit so wear boots and unstrap your load before going in.

Golden State Lumber has remarkable service and have always listen to my family business needs, whether it is special materials , general questions or hard fo find lumber or hardware. My father has used this company since it was Sierra Point , before it was renamed Golden State. For over 20 years! Our sales person Janet is always eager to help.

Yard is spacious and guys working the yard are willing to assist

This place is busy and that's a good thing. It has a huge lumber selection, quick service. Friendly sales people. But they don't sale any gardening products.

Due to an accounting dispute with my general contractor, GSL placed a lien on my property. They promptly followed up with a demand letter that mis-stated the amount owed - suggesting additional accounting errors or at least lack of proofreading. The demand letter came with papers outlining a lawsuit naming me as a defendant, and threatening foreclosure on my home of over 15 years, for a relatively small amount of $4500. Despite my having paid my GC for the materials in January, at the advice of my lawyer outlining the cost & risk to defend, I paid again for the materials to Golden State Lumber.

Though I don't discount the existence of an accounting dispute between them and my GC, the fact that GSL was so quick to attempt to resolve this by going after me the homeowner with a foreclosure lawsuit for a relatively small dollar amount speaks poorly to how they value the community and their customers. In fact, never in all the home improvement projects over the years had I even received a "pre lien" letter, which I received from GSL mere days after the delivery of the construction material; it seems indicative of an overly aggressive and confrontational approach GSL is ready to take with their clients.

Be warned!

It's a very good place to buy lumber and molding they have a big selection of materials for carpenters.

Jake at the order desk was very helpful and insightful on his advice, even while first calling over the phone before my purchase. Being a novice and a DIY'er can be tough, especially in asking questions without feeling intimidated. No doubt this will be my go to place for all my home projects relating to any of my lumber needs.
