When it's sunny you can't beat this place for a marvellous and peaceful drink outside.
The staff have been friendly since its Inception a few years ago and the wine list although not as extensive as in the beginning is good value and quality.
I have never seen a film here much to my chagrin but they don't seem to hold that against me

Small independent cinema, good selection of local bottled craft beers and nibbles and small pizzas. Music is decent too - usually retro and cheesy pop. During the day it's a great place to work since it's got good WiFi and is not busy at all. Quiet a few outdoor tables so great in the summer.

Our favourite little hidden cinema plays the best new movies and you never need to wait in line! We love this little place for its intimacy (only a few rows of seats and no seat has a bad view) and the ability to bring beers or wine into the theatre. The last time we were there, there was a bit of a smell in the theatre, maybe coming from the washroom, but hoping that's gone for next time. Cheers! We'll be back often.

Seems to be impossible to get on their mailing list. Website doesn't work and even went into the cinema and gave them my email address.

I went here for drinks with a friend, we didn't try the cinema.

It was clean, easy to find a table, drinks were reasonably priced and it has a nice outdoor seating area.

Id go again if we were in the area.

Great small cinema with only a few rows of seats. Not a bad view in the house. Very relaxed vibe. Can bring in alcohol or coffee whatever you fancy from the bar. Would come here more if i lived nearby. Worth the trek though to try a different cinema experinence & plenty nearby in terms of bars & cafes.

Fab little cinema. Only has about 50 seats so very intimate but has a bar next door and a great feel to it.

Great small cinema--nice bar/cafe and intimate space (there's only four rows of seats). Seats could be upgraded--they're not the most comfortable and some squeak--but otherwise a great place. Good selection of films ranging from independent film to mainstream releases. Very reasonably priced.

Really authentic cinema and bar. Prices are a bit on the expensive side so try and book on a day there is a deal on.

Lovely single screen cinema. Two for one on Tuesdays. Quite a nice bar too.

I did not believe there is actually a cinema inside a bar/cafe.
You could bring in your drink to watch a film, feels like at home watch a film.

What a lovely little cinema this is. They show some good independent, art house type films here along with the block busters. My partner and I started going and have really enjoyed it. They usually have two for one Tuesdays so it is value for money. The bar has some nice snacks you can take into the film with you. This is a cinema that you could go and watch a film by yourself and feel very comfortable. It is located in Bermondsey Square.

Great little boutique local cinema. You can take your drinks in. Very small so be sure to book.

Sound broke during our screening, no apologies or voucher from the team. Don't go there unless you're sure speakers have been fixed.

Excellent staff, very efficient. The seats comfortable but the heights of the front seats are not good enough cause people ahead of you don't allow you to watch properly the screen.. fortunately small room wasn't full and we decided to move just in the first row, just in front of the screen.

Love it here. Great for casual drinks with friends or working on the laptop with a coffee. Nice little boutique cinema.

I really like this cinema but preferred it before they redecorated as now it looks tacky. Feel as though many people don't realise it's here, but I guess they must not have the budget to market...shame as I would like to see it survive and thrive

Nice little intimate Cinema. Good little bar that serves some nice beers and coffes too. Staff were friendly.

We stopped in here for a couple of drinks. Not sure about the cinema quality, but it's a decent place for a beer.

I loved it a beautiful boutique style cinema with a lovely bar, exquisite.

This cinema sits within a square near a new hotel and bar//lounge, across from a Sainsbury s so you can pop in to the supermarket for your movie snacks then grab a beer or wine and get in there.

The cinema is small and intimate - perfect for showings of cult classics such as Shaun of the Dead or The Rocky Horror Picture Show which I think should be the next movie Qype gets hosted there. I just need to remember my newspaper as the seats are close and in the velvet darkness of the cinema one never knows what one may encounter.

The sound needs improving but once you get involved in the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane you ll know this is the perfect cinema within which to do the Time Warp AGAIN!

cool indie cinema that has nice deals for Mondays/Tuesdays.

Tried to organise an event here. After saying it could be done the staff simply stopped communicating despite a number of follow ups leaving me having to find another venue. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

I really love this cinema; the chairs are comfy and it's so small that showings feel kind of intimate. They also serve brilliant local ales which always gets a thumbs up from me.

Shortwave bar - warning! Appalling service with rude staff who blamed cleaning glasses (a virtually empty bar) on lack of service whilst they leaned around speaking to friends. fancy adverts and boards about pizza's, which came out of plastic, cooked in a heat press on the bar! and tasted like flimsy cardboard. took longer than a freshly made pizza to arrive. will not be going here again. to be fair, I have not been to the cinema.

I loved this little cinema - quite old school but with good facilities. In a nice square in the heart of Bermondsey. Definitely recommended

I love independent cinemas and I visited this venue wishing it to be so good. A sad sorry little excuse for a cinema. Why guys? Why?

I absolutely love this place because it has almost everything I need: cinema, coffee, children and dog friendly, cocktails... And so close to my home.

Cosy cinema. But seats on last row are too tall that my feet were hanging. Not the most comfortable.

This was terrible when it first opened - couldn't book films via the website, wine displayed in the window where the light ruined it, etc.

It seems to have gotten much better recently. The bar is much improved, no wine in the window, staff are helpful and they've got a proper web site. You can take drinks in from the bar to the cinema, all seats in the cinema are good and sound quality is top notch.

Had a similar experience to another recent reviewer. Walked out of a screening of Mad Max due to the sound being terrible; as if I was watching it underwater. Expect the sound system had blown at some point recently however it's disappointing that this was a known issue and the screening went ahead at full price with no prior warning.

Very cosy local cinema. Sometimes the air conditioning is ruining my movie experience but otherwise, good place to avoid crowds and enjoy a movie.

Cute little cinema with a bar in the front area, where you can pass the time to film. Not very cheap compared to German cinemas, but that's generally true in London. We can recommend it anyway!

Opened as the Shortwave a few years ago and recently renamed the Kino. Small but comfortable screen and good bar where you can buy your drinks before and/or after.

This tiny little cinema has 3 rows only....such a refreshing wsy to go to the cinema and definitely much nicer than those awful multi screen cinemas.....

Nice staff, small and unnumbered seats in the theatre itself. But a lovely independent feel to it. Good cinema if you are local.

Cool venue chilled out venue. Music is a little commercial and cheesy though.

Nice little spot in the cinema to grab a quick drink and watch a movie. The cinema is small and cozy, and they offer baby showings where you can bring the little one in and not worry about making a noise which is great. Drinks are on par with the area, so not a place to go maybe for a cheap drink, but atmosphere is relaxed.

Quirky little (52 seat) local movie theatre. It has a bar at the front which opens up on to Bermondsey Square. You buy your tickets at the bar and can take your drinks through to the cinema with you. Recomended.

This doesn't feel like a cinema, it's really makeshift and small. The screen is OK but the sound is pretty awful and they sell popcorn in bags (like large crisps packets) which make a lot of noise.

Cinema is nice for the size. Overall sound and screen quality was also good.

I visited the King Bermondsey for coffee and a quiet corner. So, I can't say what the place is like for a film. I don't think I found the place at its best. The assistant was on the phone and seemed too busy to serve me. It was necessary to move a chair before I could sit down. On the plus side, coffee was decent. It wasn't a busy time for the Kino, but I noticed little groups of people dropping in. The Kino is obviously well loved, but I don't think I came on a good day.

Fun independent cinema, with a pleasant cafe and bar, although with a tiny screen. My favourite feature is the monthly parent and baby screenings at lunchtime - adult films shown for parent who bring their babies along.

The staff make this place. Their prices are much too expensive but you find yourself going back because it's such a good space for everyone. Parents with kids and prams, workers, etc.

AMATEUR CINEMA - POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Visited this cinema recently to see TRAINSPOTTING 2 and noticed that the screen has a noticeable long mark on the right hand side.

Emailed the cinema to say my wife and I were not happy to then have to wait 10 days for a rely.

Tickets state NO REFUNDS!!!! This is illegal and I pointed this out to this cinema to which the reply was to speak to the citizen advice bureau.

Shockingly bad customer service in a poorly managed sub standard level wannabe cinema.

WILL BE taken this up with national film council and the council for public licensing as this place know they have a issue with their screen and purposely know if a customer requests a refund they have to do so.

Great little independent cinema, responsibly priced. Don't expect a large screen though as there's only about 4 rows of chairs. Great that you can take drink and food into the cinema.

Cafe bar and cinema not always all different facilities can gel in one place here it succeeded better than most

Alright little cinema. Not amazing, not terrible. There was an off-putting line down the whole screen.
Clientele were very noisy. Some people KEPT knocking glass over.

We have used this Cinema for small promotional events on some of our films with 1968 Film Group, BFI etc. The staff have always been very good, helpful, and the general programming of films is 1st rate. Great location too.
