It's a nice modern hotel with pool. The rooms are new, clean and well laid out. I stay for work so I like the garden view in the back as it's quiet from street noise, but the ocean view rooms are great if on vacation. There is a bar by the pool but the selection of drinks is limited. Due to the location the streets outside are busy and vibrant and local restaurants are walkable.. but you need to book early during peak season.

Firstly the location Is almost perfect the people are nice but here s the much needed feedback. I walked into my room that smelled disgusting like dirty carpet or mildew. Told staff immediately and they tried to make it right but moving us at midnight waiting for hours after going back and forth with the staff it just left a poor lasting impression unfortunately. We checked out less than 24hrs..

The hotel is very clean, good service, green and with the best location in Santa Monica. Even though it is expensive, it's worth the money.
They lend bikes for free, give you a welcoming champagne and provide free coffee and water in the lobby.
Thanks for the good treatment !

Every this awesome here except for the water pressure. Rain head showers are the worst. Getting water from the si m to brush teeth is an exercise in serious patience. But the location and vibe are really great.

Hotel itself is very nice: tasteful decorations, comfortable beds, and spotless shower. Location is extremely nice: right next to the board walk.

One thing that surprised me was that they charged me $50 for valet parking for one night's stay, when the service was offered to me as a welcome package. Called the hotel to complain, hopefully people reading this review can avoid similar feeling of "got mugged".

Stayed here this pass weekend and I'd stay there again. My first trip to San Monica, hotel close to restaurant, & San Monica Pier. Clean hotel and front desk very helpful. Had a great view from the room of San Monica Pier. Asked for extra towels from house cleaning and delivered quickly. I'd highly recommend this hotel.

Good location and facilities for a reasonable price.
I want to stay again if I stay in Santa Monica.

Have stayed here now 3 years in a row. Rooms very clean, modern design. Only complaint is no restaurants, but so much in walking distance its no big deal. Right across of Pier makes it great location for family. Gym is good, not great. With young kids stay on main floor where there is garden terrace, kids and run and play.

Little bit noisy, only one thing didn t like it when open the window in the morning hard smell of Weed comes straight into the room , and no one says anything.

Stunning property in the best location in Santa Monica. Staff went out of their way to make our lives as comfortable as possible. Ocean view room is a must! Hop on hop off bus stops right outside too

Nice warm swimming pool. Nice lobby. Watched a sunset from there.. Very comfortable room. No bathtub. Nice glass shower .. while in the shower you can be watching across the room and outside from one side or the rest room from the other side... Can't see the point of such views while taking a shower except well.. why not. Staff a bit distant, good if you are seeking to be left alone.

Impressed with cleanliness . Staff were really friendly and complementary champagne was a nice touch. I really loved the location and view from the room with Santa Monica Pier right in front of you. Really calm and relaxing even for a business trip.

Our room had a great view of the Santa Monica Pier. Room had a crazy see through shower that you could open and close a shade for privacy. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Would love to stay here again sometime in the future.

Very well cleaned and covid conscious. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Eco-friendly and pets welcome. Only thing is no fridge or microwave in rooms and shower is all glass looking out to sleeping quarters. There is a rolling shade to cover but not truly 100% private. Not at all a deal breaker, just beware if other guests sharing the room are other than family. Definitely recommend and would stay here again.

I highly recommend this place to anyone who travels around this area including universal studio. I would like to come back here even if i have to drive 20-30min. Staffs, Robert and Zack are very friendly and think ahead for customers. We had to chicken late around midnight and they understood the situation and waited for us. Also price is very reasonable, room is as good as 4-5 star big brand named hotels. Room is clean and spacey for two people except for the shower room. But overall we had a great experience and nice stay here.

The location of this Hotel is hard to beat. The sunset view we got from the front of the property were breath taking. We rented a vehicle and had to do valet parking. The valet parking is underground and we usually get out at the and leave the car side beside the hotel and the staff take the vehicle down to the parkade. If I were to do this trip again I would have not rented a vehicle. Everything is within walking distance. If you really need a vehicle there is a car rental place on site.

Check in was fast and seamless. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern looking and decent sized. The work out facility is small but for what I needed it for it was fine. The pool was great. My kids loved it and we spent most of our days there.

We really enjoyed our trip to Santa Monica. If you are looking for the best hotel in the area this is it. It was worth it and we honestly have no complaints at all. We would stay here again in the future if we're in the area.

My wife booked this as part of our USA road trip through California. We have stayed at all sorts of places along the way, this was the beginning of our luxury part to relax.

We were looking forward to Santa Monica and the Shore hotel. We left feeling OK, but not WOW given the price and how they position the hotel. A quick summary below.

Pros:
- a really great location, super convenient for the pier, beach and ocean runs etc
- TC was a great help in reception with our Luggage, super friendly remembered kids names etc
- Great size TV in the room, not that we were in there much
- Clean and modern, room cleaning was good and efficient every day
- Valet parking worked well with lots of space downstairs.
- The jacuzzi is really good and very warm indeed!
- Free Coffee in the AM (see below though)
- Free bikes are available, although I never got around to using them

But that s pretty much where it stopped...

Cons
- Its expensive - so you have expectations for this - that the hotel don t really live up to in my personal view.
- I m not a fan of the resort fee. This is not a resort. I find it a total con and simply another tax. See the pic for what you get, but half of this is either a one off, or what you get as standard in every Mariott or Hilton etc.
- Other than TC most of the staff I didn t find that friendly
- Valet parking seems pricey - $39 per night plus tax. It s no cheaper down the road,
- I was charged $3 to receive a package. I left my glasses at the previous hotel and they posted them to me. I have never had a receiving charge before in any hotel ever
- The worst WiFi Ive ever experienced. When I asked about it, I was offered to speak to support. I don t - I m on holiday - just provide a premium service in a premium hotel. You get better WiFi in Starbucks which I went to do some work quickly. Others on here have complained too. Don t expect any level of service here on this and as a foreign tourist I don t want huge data fees. This is table stakes for any location. Even the more basic places we stayed in had super fast WiFi. This is 2018 and the west coast...
- if you cant eat outside for whatever reason the breakfast room is basically a bare meeting room
- Free coffee in the AM (almost every hotel does this now), but don t wait too late - its removed at or just after 9 and was often empty - so I had to ask for it to be refreshed.
- Their 3pm Cookie is pretty much 3pm. If you are out all day exploring as a family etc, then expect them to be gone when you get back. So its basically not a perk.
- The pool area is small, and can be busy. As well as usually being a good wind trap given the shape of the hotel around it.
- We bought drinks from the pool bar, nice chap - but he forgot to add on our Resort fee discount, it was only $2 saving on this occasion but hammers home the above as a total con. I don t usually check the bill, but my wife pointed it out.

So an OK hotel which is overpriced in a great location. Sadly when certain things don t meet expectations you start to notice every niggle and issue.

We liked Santa Monica and would go back, but more than likely save some $$$ and find a place a few blocks from the Ocean drive.

rooms are Ok, location is good, but overall hotel feels like a hostel. the lobby is not very nice, pool area feels like a 2 star hotel, front desk manager was incredibly rude and you could have to take two elevators to get to your room. for the price, definitely do NOT recommend.

The lady who signed us in (50s with graying hair) ...

The lady who signed us in (50s with graying hair) took over an hour to complete the check in. I didn't understand why she kept asking me if we really needed a two bed room. I told her no a few times. I assumed she was going to get a one bed room for us but I was stunned to find out the room we waited over an hour for, had no view (just a wall), and I spent the night sleepless because the windows were not sound proof at all. At 5am busses were coming and laborers were screaming at each other. No good. I can't recommend this place.

I called front desk and the guy who answered Eric or something didn't seem to care at all. He admitted the windows weren't sound proof by the way.

So if you want to pay a lot of money and not sleep and be charged for internet..then stay here.

The only pros is that it's in front of the Santa Monica pier. It's close to the boardwalk. That's about it. Bring earplugs and toothpaste.

Beautiful hotel but the workers there are all rude. Location is amazing right in front of the beach. Workers were very very very rude acted as if me speaking to them was in some way a privilege for me to be talking to the front desk lol. I called for 3 times over 1 hour asking for a menu for the room service. They confirmed front desk would text us a menu.......... hour later still no menu. Then I had to go down stairs in covid with my mask to get the menu ......... but this hotel has texting services that texts the guests???? Bad service.... then I extended my night and thought well maybe those workers from today were bad. Cause the hotel is a beautiful vibe and nice hotel. But the workers ruin your vibe. Next I ordered room service is all came wrong. Next I check out only to see I ve been charged more than what I booked for on book.com when the front desk told me that I could extend my night at the same rate and then I wouldn t have to go on booking.com but when I received my credit card statement in my email I saw that I had been charged extra for the second day. Stay away from this hotel cause the employees will ruin ur stay.

Shore Hotel has a Fantastic location. Right off the beach and tons of great restaurants around. I had a ocean view king room, nothing like that view, worth it! Rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. Bed was comfortable and bathroom had a cool shower with a rain shower head in the ceiling. Staff was very nice and the small touches of flavored waters and lite snacks are a great touch. Once you are done relaxing in the room, you're steps from great food and the beach. I'd highly recommend this place.

This hotel is in a prime location just a 2 minute walk to Santa Monica Pier.

The hotel is clean and well maintained with modern decor.
Rooms are spacious and well appointed with a small bar fridge, coffee machine, large Samsung t.v, large bathroom and a longe chair.

Side facing rooms has restricted views of the sea and a balcony.

Complimentary champagne on arrival and amazing staff

WARNING: This hotel has had rotating protestors for several years (3-5 years). The protestors may or may not show up during your stay, but you should be aware of the gamble before you book, because the hotel will not tell you this. The protestors goal is to make your stay the worst and while were there they showed up 3 out of 4 mornings with a megaphone chanting and signing at 6:45am and then again around 4pm just in time to ruin happy hour by the pool. The protestors are aggressive and even had an altercation with a guest while we were there. I d like to give the hotel 4 stars just to spite the protestors, but it s your hard earned money and you should be aware before booking.

Perfect location, close proximity to retail stores, vegan options and juice bars. Friendly staff, great service, delicious breakfast and lunch. Had an pool view with an Ocean and wharf backdrop, enjoy the pictures. It's important to ignore the 7am protesters, use the time for a breakfast juice and a stroll along the beach.

This was such an unexpected treasure! My friend and I boooked a last minute girls trip after my recent divorce. I have to say, the hotel did not disappoint. The location was fabulous. The room was great. The best part though was Raul Saldana! He was the Food and Beverage Bar Supervisor. Every night, he would make our fabulous cocktails and always added a special twist. On the last night we were there, he gave us both some fabulous chocolates and had a wonderful bottle of wine delivered to our room. It meant the world to us. Honestly, those small touches are what make a trip so special You always remember how people made you feel and Raul made us both feel so special!

I had booked 2 rooms at Shore for 2 nights. It was the start of our 10 day vacation in California and we were really looking forward to it. But the experience was bad from the beginning. We waited for more than 30 minutes for check-in and we were not alone, many guests had to wait in the lobby for check in as the rooms were not ready. Then I found out that we were assigned rooms at different floors at different parts of the hotel when I had specifically messaged them long time back to have the rooms close by and I had got reply from them that the rooms will be next to each other. Now about the rooms: even though I had booked two ocean view premier king rooms both the rooms were completely different. One room was about half the size of the other room. The worst experience was during check out. We requested for half an hour extension for our checkout and the reply was that they do not allow any late checkout since they want all the rooms to be ready before new guests arrive. So, if they are so particular about late checkouts, then why were our rooms not ready when we arrived at around 5:30 PM? I had to also point out to them during checkout that they had only charged 1 breakfast to our room instead of 2. Lets not talk about the service during breakfast, which to put mildly, was terrible. We got better service at different national park lodges that we visited during our vacation. And all other hotels and lodges were more accommodating than this over-priced and over-hyped hotel.

I always love staying at the Shore Hotel. The staff is very kind and the location is great. Very close to the beach, boardwalk, and promenade. Many great bars and restaurants nearby. And the pool/hot tub is fantastic. Raul, the head bartender, is also great and makes amazing drinks if you want a nice evening at the hotel!

Conveniently located by Santa Monica Pier, this modern hotel has gorgeous view and high comfort and price standards. The stuff was very nice and friendly. Street parking is a common problem in Santa Monica, but there are many public parking lots around however I chose undeground valet parking at hotel. There is no complimentary breakfast provided but paid options are really yummy. Eco-friendly smart systems are everywhere: card access to lobby restroom, elevator and room, automatic LED light turn on/off etc. Soon you start realizing that all these things like low flow shower are designed to save hotel bills but not for the comfort of the guests. It's up to shower (not to you) to choose the water temperature. A very annoying thing is an attempt to put overpriced snacks, towels, chocolate bars, toys and mini bar right in the room. I find reasonable to pay 2x convenience price but not 3x. No complimentary water at the room - prepare to pay $8 for a bottle of water and explain your kids why they can't take snacks and toys. 'City view' in fact is a view to the wall of shopping mall across the road so the restaurant guests on its roof can observe your room. Don't forget to turn on the privacy shower curtain switch. Pool is quite small (up to 9ppl) but has a great view especially after the sunset.
