Great, attentive service despite a busy room. Absolutely beautiful decor and ambiance, and the live music was great as well. Had a large party of 7 so we were given a comfortable spot with a couch. Had a great time, and happy hour drinks and snacks were tasty. Will be back.
I love coming to this bar as its so friendly with a great cross section of people and age groups. The staff are friendly ,courteous and professional. I had the recent good fortune to stay at the Culver Hotel. Took my husband to The Culver for his birthday and had a wonderful time. The jazz band in the Lobby bar was great, the ambiance warm and inviting, and the food was yummy. Old, Hollywood charm makes this venue stand out
My favorite spot for any linger that you want to turn it into something else: a date, a girls night out or just a catch-up with a friend is the perfect spot! Love music, good little menu, nice service, great crowd, excellent vibes.
Whether the munchkin story is true or not, you'll certainly get a sense of atmosphere from this historic hotel. If the weather is nice, enjoy coffee, lunch or a cocktail outside on the terrace. Or dine inside, in the lounge or the bar. Always great service here. So pleased this place hadn't been removed from the oldest part of downtown Culver City.
The Culver Hotel duos as a restaurant & hotel, and I definitely recommended going here if you want to experience a certain type of luxury at a great price for the pocket book. The atmosphere is incredible inside and out.
The hostesses, Vicki, and Susan, are unbelievably helpful and kind upon entering, and very quick to assist in our questions, and getting us to where we wanted to be.
We sat on the patio because the weather was beautiful, and the patio seemed to match it that day. The options on the menu are limited but are definitely delicious throughout. I commenced with a chicken salad("garden" I believe), then devoured a medley of perfectly seasoned mediterranean olives- be careful of the pits- then moved on to the grilled and beautifully dressed Culver Burger, my mouth is watering thinking about it again, and I topped it of with a lovely glass of cabernet.
Afterwards, my friend and I tapped into the specialty-drink menu. The drinks are unique and there's plenty from which to choose from. Brian and Constantine are the mixologist and they will make sure to keep your tastebuds on edge wanting more.
The servers are very attentive, just don't be too demanding and your experience will be exceptional, Perry, was our server and he was there for every question and need we had. When Perry was busy with others, two delightful servers by the name of, Jackie, and Nia, served our needs in a very friendly, fun manner, while also serving their guests.
Definitely 5 STAR service! We highly reccomend experiencing it atleast once.
My wife and I visited after dinner to enjoy the live jazz over a drink and dessert. This historic hotel is quite amazing. We were initially surprised to enter a large room that served as the hotel lobby, check-in, bar and restaurant. That said there is very little seating for the bar or to enjoy the jazz without a dinner reservation. Nonetheless the jazz was great, so were the drinks. The bread pudding was not food at all; the recipe did not have bourbon like most and it was coated in salted caramel...way too salty. The service was also subpar but I would give the place another chance especially during weekday happy hour.
Casual, chic, great ambiance, both indoors and out. Great for appetizers and drinks. Appetizers were delicious and generous portions. Didn't try the main course. Good service. For the service and the ambiance, the price is reasonable.
I was here just as a passerbyer for food. The venue is really pretty and has some monumental Hollywood memorabilia that is fun to look at. We talked to a couple of the people on the wait staff and valet and they were all very friendly.
The upstairs lounge is Ultra moody, chill, and great music while the downstairs restaurant/bar has live 20s-50s period music- such a great detail. I'm in live with this place and will definitely be coming back! Oh, their drinks are so fun!
gorgeous hotel, with a lot of history. service is incredible, and the food is to die for. movie theater a 10 yard walk, and you're in the heart of culver city's food district. wander around the hotel to take in the history.
Went here for a company function. Loved the whole thing. Staff was exceptionally good and the venue as a whole, made for quite an enjoyable experience.
Spending mothers day with my 2 daughters seating out side on a beautiful day enjoying good food nice bottle of wine I feel blessed I will be back for another occasion
Very nice place for a date or just spending time at the bar. The restaurant there has great good and live music. There's also a bar upstairs and which is a really nice place to sit have drinks and just relax while enjoying the atmosphere.
My absolute favorite bar, restaurant, lounge in LA. It is a hotel so they have guest rooms above the lower level. I love everything about this place but most especially the atmosphere. It's reminiscent of old 1940s era Hollywood. They have live jazz music, fantastic food and tastey drinks. Plenty of parking because its culver city and it's also not a touristy spot despite that it's a hotel also. It's my favorite date spot. There are lots of sofas and lounge seating. I think they even have a fireplace.
First, I think that the Culver hotel is gorgeous. I love the architecture. Second, this review is only for the dinner and drinks as I have never stayed over night. Don't come here if you want quiet, because that it is not. But it is cozy and warm and friendly. Cocktails are fantastic, and the food is above average. Great place for a meeting with friends
Fun place, cool boutique hotel experience. The bar is lively any night of the week. But don't get a street facing room. A drunk girl woke me up at 3am on a Tuesday night.
I entered and was shown the bar area. It was the bar and two long tables. The bar had 4 stools but the tables had one stool to share between them. It looked like they got robbed and the thieves made off with the stools. I stood at a bar table making eye contact with every server that passed by for ten minutes with no service. I stopped one of them and they told me I needed to order at the bar. That would have been nice to know ten minutes ago.
I moved to the bar and the bartender immediately acknowledged me. He, and the food are why this place gets 4 stars. It would have been 2 if he didn't turn it around. He is a craft cocktail artist and his knowledge and mixology skills are commendable. The polenta fries were presented well but lacking flavor. The salmon poke was really good.
Servers and host could be friendlier and more helpful.
This hotel is unusual in the most awesome way. Boutique/Grand & Classic/Modern. My wife and I arrived from San Diego to attend a performance at the Kirk Douglas Theatre and thought we would give the Culver Hotel a try. It did not disappoint. From the very first greeting we knew we be well taken care of. The Front Desk was expertly helmed by polite professionals. The bar team could make any cocktail competently. The waitstaff was clairvoyant. The food offerings were creative and delicious. I seldom bother to write reviews but the Culver Hotel is the place to stay, in Culver City or beyond. With the new Expo rail line open, we'll return later this summer to enjoy both Santa Monica and Downtown LA without getting in a car!
Beautiful redone historical hotel. Service, decor, everything is great. Breakfast has a solid selection in a space with natural light. Evening has live music and good menu. My grandmother thought it was exactly how a hotel should be.
Classy bar and restaurant with a fantastic ambiance. Didn't eat but the cocktail was delicious. Stopped in for a pre-movie drink. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Very loud and the room is not good for live music. Service is terrible and unfriendly, You get the feeling that things are just not professionally run. Nice decor and it is a historic hotel, but the vibe is not good. Drinks are good, but the place is not clean at all. Saw roaches one time and mice another.
Food was OK, but service was poor. Was greeted when we walked in the door but then had to wait for 5 -10 mins for a hostess to appear to get seated. Not very attentive service after we sat down, bad to ask for milk for the coffee, had to ask to get water, that sort of thing. When we got the check we waited and waited for some one to pick it up to run the card and eventually had to walk it up to the bar to pay. It is a lovely location and the food is good but it's all let down by the service.
Good location right across from CVS and fantastic mall. Rooms are nice and staff is helpful. Breakfast buffet is a plus when you want to eat in the hotel but it was a bit unorganized due to construction in the hotel.
This is just a review of the bar: amazing decor, great cocktails, a little too pricey even at happy hour. The music when I was there was not "Latin" nor "Klezmer" (as advertised) nor jazz (it was listed as part of a jazz series), but a series of cornball covers by musicians sort of hamming it up as if we were in the burbs.
One of my favorite establishments in Culver City. The atmosphere here is regal and the live music is always on point. Strong Old Fashions and good food. Pricey but worth it if you're in town.
The garden mule is amazing. We also had the meat platter while sitting in the velvet lounge on my birthday. Get there early and get a good spot in that lounge, you won't be disappointed ;)
Looove it here, beautiful atmosphere, 40s vintage vibe inside with a black and white movie playing on a projector in front of the bar. Upstairs there's another gorgeous speakeasy type bar. Outside seating is green with plants and trees great for people watching. Drinks are well made too.
I appreciated the complimentary coffee every morning (6-8) and the wine in the evening (5-7), while my son was grateful for the complimentary WiFi. We both were glad for the quite in the evenings, as we were often exhausted after a day of site-seeing.
Great live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The atmosphere is awesome. You could show up casual or dressed up and you would feel comfortable either way.
I came to the Culver Hotel for a date. We both agreed we wanted a nice quiet place where we could talk and get to know each other. The hotel bar is nice and elegant, with the service dressed formally. There is a casual piano in the background, which is loud enough to be heard, but not overbearing.
Later in the evening there was a live band, at this point the music did become loud, but we should've known to look up events for the hotel. This is a good place to have a chat or have a cocktail, expect prices to be around $10-$15.
I enjoyed a delicious holiday lunch with friends in a warm, friendly, and charming environment. The lunch menu was not extensive but provided enough variety. The pear and date salad was awesome! We will be returning soon for High Tea.
Took 45 minutes for our cheeseboard to come out. Our waiter did not even know what cheeses were on the board. We asked for additional toast, and as expected it too took an inordinate amount of time -- something like 20 minutes. We would have eaten dinner here, but the service was so so slow and there was near to no attention paid to us by any of the wait staff except the bussing team. The cherry on top was being provided the wrong bill, paying it, and then being chased out on to the street to get us to pay our actual bill (it was a difference of maybe 5 dollars). There are plenty of other places to eat nearby with staff that are communicative and more attentive.
Outside of the slow service and lack of attention, the outdoor patio area is cool and the central location in Culver City is neat.
Wasn't served waters. Appetizers were brought cold. Had to eat the apps without plates, silverware, or napkins, first round of drinks remained empty for so long we all just walked out. Tried to mention the bad service to the dumb blonde hostess on the way out and she couldn't have cared less. We went right across the street to Public School and had a blast.
Had brunch outside. It was very nice and obviously loved the bottomless mimosas. Husband had pork belly egg hollandaise(?) and I had the poke. We both really enjoyed our meals.
Gorgeous location. Incredible amount of rooms. Kind of creepy. I'm sure the service is nice I just could not be served on the account the electricity went out on that block that particular day. But other wise cool historical land mark
Been coming here for years and it has always a fun time. Nice live music, and a great outdoor area. The food has improved over the years and I enjoy the classic setting of the bar.
We went to the Culver Hotel Bar for the evening and had a wonderful time. Delicious cocktails, fantastic live music and a beautiful ambiance. Definitely worth a visit!
This is a "quaint" hotel with interesting historic features and nicely remodeled bathrooms. The elevator is small and slow but the stairs are easy to access and the beds are reasonably comfortable.
Had some drinks at the restaurant / bar. Thr atmosphere is very classy and the drinks were good. Currently there is construction next door so the view is not the best.
Great stay- Really interesting History at this Hotel. A few friends of mine and I stayed here a while back and had a blast. We had a big event and came back to this hotel to rest our heads. The rooms were decorated nicely, felt very old timey. But the stories that we heard from the staff were just amazing.
The cast of the munchkins stayed here, so did John Wayne and many others.
The Hotel sits in the heart of downtown Culver city and also next to the set from Gone with the Wind.
The Bar- very lively on the weekends, even on weekdays as well. Live music at times which is very nice.
Definitely check this place out as a stay or just hang out at the bar. As the staff for insight to the buildings historical past.
Great place for small social event. Had about 30 people at grad school alum social. Nice selection of beer +wine, yummy finger foods. Attenentive Staff always around so no wait for drinks or food. Nice patio.
Overall, lackluster, but has potential. Wife had wanted to go here for several months, on account of rumors of live jazz music and fun cocktails. Decided to come with our in laws. First the pros: Culver hotel is a historic, very interesting building in a cute area, and I do like live music. Wine was inoffensive. Cons: Let me start with this: for the entire duration of our two and a half hour stay we saw our waiter 5 times. Not bad you say? Our waiter came to take our drink order less than 4 minutes from when we were seated. We needed more time. He showed up two minutes later. We didn't see him again for 25 minutes. We ordered our wine, and hoped for the best. If only we had got up and left at this point. Another 20 odd minutes pass, and no sign of our waiter. I get up, and track down a random waiter, grabbing one at a wait station. Another ten minutes later, we grabbed a different waiter and requested they find our waiter. Finally, after yet another 10 minutes our prodigal waiter returns with our wine (right as we decided to eat somewhere else), apologizing profusely. While it's worth being said that they appeared to be busy, he had obviously completely forgotten about us (even admitted as much), and I'm certain that we would have waited much longer without service.
This level of service continued throughout the meal. Our entrees began being brought out, frustratingly, one at a time, with at least an eight minute wait between each of our meals making it to the table. To add insult to injury, most were cold, and the brussel sprouts tasted like horseradish? The waiter swore that couldn't be the case, but something had definitely gone wrong.
They did take the brussel sprouts off, it deserves to be said, since we barely touched it.
The food was overpriced for what it was. I've paid less for much better food at restaurants with much worse of a reputation.
They have live music, but we sat outside. I expected them to play the live music over their speaker system, but instead we listened to top 40 Christmas music for an extended period of time before it was blissfully replaced by generic club beats.
The men's downstairs restroom sink didn t work, and the other restroom only had one stall. Didn't bother me, but the women's upstairs restroom was out of order as well.
Not sure whether or not it was just an unfortunate circumstance with our dinner being within a week and a half of Christmas, but the outside deck was tremendously crowded with people standing uncomfortably close to our table for most of the meal. While this isn't necessarily the fault of the restaurant, I'm not sure why they didn't manage the seating situation/reservations better since there were other areas with places to sit. Needless to say, it was loud and surprisingly boisterous for such an austere setting. If you re still reading, know that I rarely give out bad reviews. It was simply the juxtaposition of such a nice building with terrible service and food that prompted me to make this write up. If you're coming here, get a cocktail at the class bar and listen to some live jazz, then go eat at the fried chicken place across the street.
Great classic aesthetics and a lively lounge crowd. The line for a drink can get very long, as the bar itself is very small. Plenty of patio seating, live music regularly, and good drinks.
