Great staff. I had spring rolls, Rainbow roll, Godzilla roll, hibachi fillet & hibachi scallops. I'm from Charleston, SC & the hibachi places there always overcook the scallops. These were perfectly cooked. They also have fresh wasabi, not the dried stuff I've always been served & it is sho much more flavorful & good. Shogun is my favorite restaurant in Fayetteville.

I wish that I could rate the food as amazing as I have in my pasts visits. But I was unable to enjoy a meal last night from Shogun Japanese Steakhouse in Fayetteville, NC. Due to the horrible service received yesterday evening when I stopped in to dine with my sister.

I explained to my sister prior to arriving at the restaurant some history that I had with the restaurant. Some years ago when Shogun first opened I was impressed by the ambiance and how nice it was inside the restaurant. But after the newness wore off some of the traffic to dine in died down. But I kept coming because I liked it and the convenient location. I would always take pictures of the artistic creation displayed on the sushi dishes that I ordered some years ago but couldn't tag the location because at that time, some years back, Shogun Japanese Steakhouse in Fayetteville, NC did not have a Facebook page. After I spoke with the owner's wife about how it would be beneficial to their business and their marketing efforts to create a business Facebook page because it was free marketing. I told her that they needed to create a Facebook for their business and post pictures of the food/dishes to appeal the local area and that it might help increase traffic and revenue. From the feedback I received from her some months after that conversation, when I returned with my mom. She told my mom that I helped her and the business. She also told my mom that I was a nice girl.

However that was some years ago and things are subject to change. On yesterday while with my sister a waitress came over to take our order. I explained that my sister and I both had allergies so we needed some time to make our selections carefully. The waitress said ok, told us to take our time while she put in the order for appetizers and that she would return. She returned in 10 minutes she brought appetizers for my sister. My sister and I had questions about a few items that we were interested in. She answered our questions after the feedback she provided on the dishes we decided we needed more time because the dishes would cause issues with both of our allergies. So she she would be back. After sitting for 45 minutes, the waitress comes back, looks at us and continues to walk past us. This happened 6 more times. We had been there almost an hour and she made no more effort to take our order.

The customers seated on the back side of our booth had finished their meals and she was very interested in their needs and overall their dining experience and I noticed that the interaction was different. The waitress asked them how they were once they completed their meals and how could she assist them further. After I noticed that my sister was upset I told her not to worry about it that I would approach the manager. As I got up to address the issue. The waitress noticed and approached the table where my sister remained. At the same time I was sharing my concerns with one of the staff. I told her that we wanted to pay for our appetizers and leave. The waitress did apologize once she saw that we were leaving.

I am hoping that this was not a race issue but I was very disappointed with the service and also that we were not even provided with the same cordial behavior or speedy service that the customers on the other side of the booth received.

I actually give this place 3.5 stars and I'm glad that I don't live here and have to call it one of the "best" sushi places around. While the sushi was not bad in any way, there really wasn't anything special about it. The soy beans lacked any salt nor could I tell that they were boiled in salt water. The sushi while ok, lacked any flavor. It was all just really bland.

I had a good time . Hibachi is always fun to watch and experience, my chef had the most creative approach I've seen yet. Even better I went for the early bird special and you should too. It's between 3 and 5 pm great savings

Hostess was wonderful, she was also our waitress. She did a wonderful job, she was very helpful with my selection of sushi. I got the habachi vegatable lunch. The flavors are always consistent and good. The service was fast as well, no need to think lunch rush will slow to down.

I love to support local restaurants but this restaurant missed the mark on winning a great review. We have visited many Japanese hibachi grills across America. We didn t wait very long to be seated at the grill. We did wait a very long time at the grill for our chef to come to our table. Which gave me time to look around the restaurant. They need to figure out a storage system. They have supplies and boxes every where. If this is supposed to be a quality dining experience make the place clean and store supplies out of sight. When customers come to these venues it s for top notch service. Our chef was nice and might have been having an off day, I don t know. He wasn t very talented in his skill. This is to say we didn t get much of a cooking show. We ordered veggie and chicken hibachi(you get these right we return) not the case for this chef. The veggies were over cooked, the rice was bland, and the chicken had way to much of the marinade, it was very salty. To be honest it tasted like terrible chicken teriyaki. The bill and cash out took a very long time. They use ingredients that made us start feeling bloated by the end of the meal. We all woke up with terrible stomach pains. We will not return.

This place is definitely a go-to for entertainment. A group of teens & myself went 12/17 around 4pm, no wait time, the chef (pictured) was hilarious & wait staff was very attentive. The birthday treat was our favorite part! Thanks guys for a great visit!

Food was good and tasty. Server was polite, but didn't visit the grill again once order was taken. The chef had to call out for her. However, he was entertaining and made us laugh. Would visit again, when in town.

How? Is this place rate so highly?

How? Is this place rate so highly?
I received a sashimi dish, it was fancy. I mean it was a sight, so there's that. It was sashimi so, no cooking or need to add flavor so nothing there you can mess up. But, even then since the fish choices are chef's the question was raised as to what they were. We'd identified some but, didn't know them all. The server didn't know. That seems to me like something the sushi chef and server would have taken a moment to go over. This place looks fancy but, when presented the usual is to be informative. What if I wanted to order a specific fish again?

But, the sad part my husband's ramen bowl was such a miss. No flavor nothing remarkable about it at all. There wasn't much to it, it didn't look restaurant quality. More like kicked up dorm quality.

Breakdown-
Portion sizes - big
Taste - Okay nothing spectacular
Price- too high for the lack of depth of flavor.

Verdict - we won't return.

I've been here probably a dozen times so far, and I always manage to get the same server. Whether it be for lunch or dinner, the service AND food are always amazing. The yum yum (white) sauce tastes great on everything, so I always order extra and drown my food in it. One of my favorite places in town, though I wouldn't describe it as a cheap night out. Prices, however, are made up for in portion size.
