I love this store! And I LOVE Susan even more !!! I could not get downtown to pick up my shoes so she hand delivered them to me. Amazing customer service to go with a great selection of shoes.

The only reason I m giving them 1Star is because the shoes are nice. However, I felt instantly judged as I walked in the store, almost like they determined based on my outfit that I wasn t able to afford anything in the store. I couple that walked in after I did and picked up one particular shoe were greeted by a sales rep and attended to, I walked around the store and picked up several shoes and was only met with glares and a watchful eye. I can promise you I won t be back and I will never speak highly of this store.

I always have such a great experience at Shoes on King. They have amazing sales occasionally. Yesterday my mom and I literally tried on 5 pairs of shoes and unfortunately didn t take any home with us, but the sales associates were still so kind and happy to help us! I ll always be a returning customer.

I walked into the store looking for Rieker boots. The salesperson looked at my shoes as I walked in the door and decided to ignore me. Really? You judge a person by the shoes they have on that day. I was on my way to the beach and had a weekend of walking on my agenda. This was the first time I felt judged on my appearance. I would prefer to spend my money in a locally owned store but please treat all customers that walk in the door as a potential buyer.

I ve visited Charleston - and King St - numerous times over the years and have never been treated so disgustingly as in this store. Like the other reviewer said, the woman looks you up and down when you walk in as if she s determining whether you re worthy of walking into the store (that looks and feels like someone s dirty basement).

My friend and I are in town and were shopping and didn t realize the time. We walked into SoK and the judgmental woman said we re closing in 2 minutes so I m locking you girls in and I said ok sorry we are just going to do a quick lap and be out of your way. My friend wound up finding something she liked so was perusing the rack looking for her size to purchase. Literally 5 minutes later the woman said ok we re closing now we ve been here all day and we want to go home. Are you kidding me?! We all work hard for our money and the last place I d ever spend it would be here after this woman s remark. We were horrified and left immediately.

These owners are the antithesis to the wonderful southern hospitality you receive literally everywhere else in this city. Steer clear and spend your money at a place that deserves and appreciates it. The SoK collection is stale and last season anyway.

Note to owners: having a King Street address doesn t mean you have class.

Went in for a pair of Tory Burch shoes and was greeted by a saleswoman names Gary. Although she was helpful she came across pushy and short. I decided on a pair and when she gave me the total I handed her $170 in cash and then told her I'd put the rest of the total on my card. She then accidentally ran my card for the full amount. So even though I would have rather done it the other way I told her that was fine and I went on my way. After getting home and trying the shoe again I just couldn't get used to the fit and decided to bring them back (still in brand new condition with receipt and box). I had my sister take them back since she was going there and I gave her my debit card for the refund.
My sister came back and said the girl (turns out it was Gary according to the refund receipt) had ran my card for the original total INSTEAD of running it as a refund!! Needless to say I was very upset since I had bills coming out of that account and now I was down over $400 be of the now two transactions. I went to the store and talk to a man who told me there was nothing they could do. Now, I work in retail and I know you can void a transaction as long as you haven't batched out yet. I brought this up to him and he still said there was nothing he could do. He then said its a common mistake.... Seriously? So you're telling me y'all often make the mistake of charging credit cards instead of issuing a refund and then say sorry there isn't anything we can do.
I am not the type of person to write a review like this because working in a similar environment I understand things happen. However, it was the way it was handled. I felt like I was inconveniencing them to help me solve THEIR mistake. Their attitude about the entire experience was anything but sympathetic. I hate to talk badly about another locally owned business but in my opinion they may need to either have a training session on how to properly use the credit card machine or hire someone who does.
