Nice place to skate. However the ice gets cut up with all the people

If I could rate the Sherwood Ice Arena 100 stars, I would. This is now my most favorite place around. I wanted to plan a surprise for my husband for our 5 year anniversary, and I thought of a romantic idea to rent out a skating rink for the two of us about a week before our anniversary. I wrote to all the different skating complex's around... and only Michael Ford from Sherwood Ice Arena wrote back. He not only wrote me back, but he was willing to fit in my plans into his schedule and accommodate my needs even though the arena was booked every day! He wanted to do everything possible to help my idea to work for us, and to him I am so thankful and will forever be grateful for his kindness. Our anniversary was AMAZING because of Michael, and because of all the staff at Sherwood Ice Arena. When we got there, he had our skates waiting for us with a personalized Happy Anniversary card, the staff gave us free cookies and hot chocolate, they played a CD for us in the rink while we were skating that I had made, and they even gave us the option to skate with the lights off and disco lights going to make it more romantic for us. I even left flowers there with Michael to give to my husband when we got there and he kept them for me until we got there and brought them out for him. It ended up being so much more than I had expected, and the kindness there filled my heart and still leaves me smiling to this day! Staff came up to us and congratulated us all day and offered us nice comments, and the atmosphere was so friendly and loving. The kindness that existed here was so amazing. It is only places like this, with people like this, that make life more amazing and dreams come true! We had the most amazing and unforgettable day because Michael chose to take time for us out of his busy schedule, instead of merely writing us off. THANK YOU SO MUCH Michael Ford, and all the staff at Sherwood Ice Arena! We will definitely be visiting you again! :D If you have not been to this arena, you should-- because it is not kindness like this that you see every day! Also, the skating rink is very large and really nice to skate on, with a wonderful sound system to listen to music while you skate. :)

Fantastic place for my kiddo to take figure skating lessons.

Great place to go with your family or on a date. They have a small video game arcade if you get bored of skating.

Well-kept ice, good programs for everyone. Adults and kids skating, hockey, etc. Some snack foods and drinks available. Reasonable rates.

Great place to skate. Lots of open skate time. Good concessions, inexpensive. Great place for a party. Nice staff. Very cold though, bring a coat.

If you're looking for a place to either get back into playing hockey or pick up a stick for the first time this is it, everyone is friendly and helpful.

Adult hockey leagues are great. They rank your skills and place you in a league at your level to keep it competitive. My kids love the Friday night teen skate with the lasers and dj. The dressing rooms are spacious and clean, staff is friendly, and the ice is in good shape. Only downside (to beer league hockey) is there is no liquor license so you have to go across the street to the growler place afterwards.

Despite having my gf hold me up so I didn't fall, I enjoyed this ice rink and would recommend it to anyone.

Not a lot of room to get ready. Can get very crowded at entrance as people are getting ready to skate. Ice quality was good.

Great ice surface. The rental skated were not sharp at all, almost dangerously dull allowing my feet to slip sideways continuously. The staff is very friendly and the facility clean.

Best quality ice in the area. Coldest rink in the area. Didn't try food or rentals. Public skate can be overly busy.

Completely unbelievable customer service. We had an issue that occurred with a voucher we had purchased and the management no only corrected the issue but went above and beyond to make things right. It s a rarity to experienced customer service like this.

I love the ice quality, but I don't appreciate how we have to call on for Friday stick times five or more hours before it starts. I would reccomend getting rid of this because I find it unfair for people who work during the day that can't call in.

I love the Ice Arena. I go almost every single Friday. The Friday night skate sessions are what usually attract people of all ages. There are even things you could do off the ice as well. They include Air Hockey, Pinball and even a Q-Bert machine. Food isn't a problem either. There are multiple vending machines and a concessions stand. They sell light up accessories because on the ice it gets magical. The lights shut off and a disco ball starts doing its thing. There are floor projectors and even strobe lights. You can request music and it is just an overall wonder. Keep in mind that all of this happens in the span of 2 hours. There is a brief intermission when the Zamboni comes out to resurface the ice. You then begin to go counter clockwise on the ice and the lights shut off again. Really just a wonderful place. It begins at 7:30 to 9:30. I highly recommend going here on an a boring Friday!

The new owner is a selfish, ignorant, careless, mean-spirited tiny little man. I know so many people who have refused to patronize his business specifically because of his horrible takes on everything, but especially covid-19.

It was extremely crowded and the atmosphere is very cramped.

Great ice and ice machines and a large hockey ring but always has private session is covering up some part of the ice has ridiculous amount of people on the weekend and has terrible renting ice skates but the prices are good and that's important.

Awesome experience. Tried goalie position for the first time. All the people there were very welcoming and nice.

Our 5 and 7 year old granddaughters love the "Learn to Skate" program. They have been involved in the program for over a year now and look forward to Saturday mornings with Nana and Papa. They love skating with a nice group of children, (ages 2 on up) are taught by an enthusiastic cadre of committed teachers, in a complete program that challenges the kiddos to do their best, to keep trying and more importantly to "shake themselves off when they fall", and they do fall. Our GD's have far more confidence now and have progressed from "OMG" I cannot stand up to "look at me now" as they skate with confidence and joy!

Only ice skating in the area, very crowded, no parking available

This is the best ice arena i have ever been to. I am in 7th grade and this is the hangout spot. Every friday night they have free skate and it is sooooo fun if you want to gothere bring a minimum of 10-15 dollars (depends on how many people and if yo want food) but over all this place in amazing and i would hate to see it permanently close

Very inexpensive skating makes for a great party, or fun night out with some friends. Super fun to learn how to skate, and this is a great place to do it at!

Play Hockey! They have a well organized adult hockey league with teams for all skill levels.

My boyfriend & I rented the rink for an hour and had the BEST time at Sherwood ice area! Michael was so helpful in booking us at short notice, and Brian was there to meet us and to DJ our "skating party" for us! We had such a great experience and I highly recommend!

The teachers giving lessons are very nice and helpful, but make sure to bundle up- it's very cold even off the ice!

I was there for my kids' hockey camp for an entire week. Very professional and helpful employees. This place will be my second hockey home during the hockey season (the first one is WSC :)

It's super cold in the arena, the lobby area is open but can get and they have a good flow for purchasing and returning skates.

I've been ice skating here since I was in high school, it's one of the best places you can go locally, and it's really fun. Yes, the public skating times do seem like they are on the short end, but it's still fun to stop by and skate!

There's no heat for the visitors watching the game. A bit outdated. But the seem to pack the ice during open skates.

Great skating rink. It is bright and without those annoying safety nets around that block your views.

This place is cold! I've come here to watch hockey games and wish I would have worn more layers -- jeans, galoshes and a coat don't cut it. There was plenty of room for the parents to heckle the ref and the parents of players on the opposing team. If you come here to observe a game, layer up and bring a blanket to sit on because the bleachers are cold.

Sherwood Ice Arena has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere that is perfect for family's, birthday parties or skate dates. Of course, it is also a great place to join the recreational hockey league. There is an equipment store, snack bar and arcade games as well. Check it out!

The arena size is moderate however since it open for limited hours it can get very crowded and feels too small

The new ownership doesn t seem to care about the players nor giving any refunds or credits for those who paid for a full season that was cancelled due to covid.

It's always nice on the ice. It's a funny thing though. In the winter it's the most busiest . In the summer when it's the hottest the place gets less people coming in. I love it all year long personally. When I watch my daughter skating and see how she as progressed . I must say they have a great staff and the instructor's/coaches know what they are doing . Good program for the little ones as well.

My husband paid for a hockey season ($400) that was cancelled due to covid. The day after he paid they cancelled the season, refusing to refund, or give credit for a future season.
We tried disputed the charge, then Sherwood ice arena ended up with our money still. No apologies, no offer on credit, no nothing.
Thanks, but we won t be back.

I have skated at the arena a few times, and I always have a fun time! The staff are really nice, and it is a great environment. I think the ice arena is a wonderful business because they donated a very generous donation to Wild Horse Mountain Ranch where I volunteer. Our fundraiser was a huge success, and I would like to say thanks from all of us at Wild Horse Mountain Ranch in Sherwood, OR. Thanks for being such an awesome business Sherwood Ice Arena!

One of my favorite local places to visit! This ice arena, though small, is a blast to visit! Went again yesterday and brought friends along. Was able to teach them how to skate in one two hour public skate! Going here is such a pleasure.

The hockey is great, too! My SO is getting into the adult hockey league, and participating in stick time . Both appear to be run well and are moderately affordable for the amount of fun they re producing!

I travel from out of town to go I've skating here because they have a sizable, well maintained arena.

It's really fun. The people who watch the ice rink are extremely nice; when people slip and fall the people rush over to help them. However the food could be improved.

If you want to learn how to skate, they offer classes which is listed on their website. Overall, great experience for the whole family to enjoy.

This is the coldest rink in the area, so come bundled up. Seriously, I have shown up cocooned in a king sized blanket with just my nose sticking out (and NO shame) and didn't get a single weird look.

My favorite ice skating place in the Portland area. Anytime my girlfriend and I have the urge to go skating, we go here.
