For those who skate either for fun or for sport, this is the best rink around. There's less people and more space than Lloyd center or any other rink in the area that I've been to, making it a significantly less crowded and an overall more pleasant experience. The staff is always welcoming, engaging, and ready to help. As far as renting skates goes, they now have both the hard plastic models and the more cloth-type model that you may find more comfortable.

For those seasoned skaters looking for a home rink, this is it. The coaches are all very skilled, friendly, and varied in teaching style. I have no doubt that anyone can find a coach that fits their needs at the Sherwood rink. If you can get to the rink during normal school hours, that is the best time to practice as it will likely just be you and a handful of other people on the ice. Not only that, but many a time I have been told by visiting skaters that our ice is simply better than the ice of other rinks. Overall, it is amazing environment and in the over five years I have skated there I have not had a single bad experience.

Much more dangerous to skate here. I don t know how they expect the skate guard to keep up with all of the chaos these have created. The ice quality has gone down sufficiently

Great staff, cool store. Sad that we only have 2 ice skate places in around portland. Miss the Clackamas mall location. Makes me happy when I see kids skate and thank full to parents that bringing them to activities. Portland needs more smart, intelligent and active people who is actually can do stuff not just paint hair in red and be proud of it.

THE SKATES ARE TERRIBLE, THEY MADE MY FEET BLISTER, MOST THE THE RINK IS CUT OFF FOR PRACTICE, SO ITS EXTREMELY CROWDED. BECAUSE OF ALL OF THIS IT MAKES THE PRICE LOOK UNREASONABLE, HATE THIS PLACE, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

My girlfriend is an avid ice skater and we've tried all of the rinks around the area, but this is hands down our favorite. The ice here is always well maintained and the staff are helpful and friendly. We also very much enjoy the late night public sessions where there are lights and good music.

I also chose Sherwood as the place to propose to my girlfriend. I emailed Michael and he was extremely helpful in getting things set up. I arrived and everything went exactly according to plan. All of the staff came out afterward and congratulated us. They all really made our experience magical and we will remember that day for the rest of our lives.

Trying not to be so crotchety about it, but wow. Sign up for a class, find out the 1st day that they moved you without telling you (hey, it's only been 2 weeks since we registered), then finding out that you need to do certain things for the check-ins that no one mentioned to you (not even the girl you spent an hour talking to when you registered), but you are magically expected to know, & then realize you have to hunt down additional information from parents because staff has zero clues. I get that many of these people have been here before and you probably don't care if 1 or 2 drop out because the traffic is still high, but when did it become a thing to not train your staff? When did it become acceptable to make customers have to go on essentially a scavenger hunt for information from outside sources? Day 1. Can't wait to find out what we don't know for day 2. :/

Great establishment. The staff is so friendly, the coaches are very knowledgeable and work very closely with parents and students alike.

Concession stand is limited, but priced very fairly.

They keep the ice clean, and the lobby cleaner.

Only complaint is small children are ALWAYS running around wild. Though that is on the shoulders of the parents, not the arena.

Pro shop connected, owned and operated by a gentleman named Phil. Very helpful and great prices on hockey and figure skating equipment.

Been going here since I was a kid. It's actually a fairly large ice rink. It's got your normal arcade and air hockey set up if you're not into falling down on hard cold materials, and there's some vending machines and a food stand that sells your standard fries and buger and hotdog kind of deal. Popular with the middle to high school age especially after school and on Fridays. There's open skates at certain times; be sure to check the website so you don't show up like a creep on some kid's practice and scar them for life. Decent music - great if you're into modern stuff but it's not my scene auditorily speaking.
Fun place to take a date. :)

So, I looked online a while ago and they had date night for Friday nights. I thought that was cool just to have a couples night. I checked back the day I was going to take my wife and realized it was replaced with disco nights in the calendar, but also had every Friday night is date night. I called and asked and they reassured me that it was date night. When we got there there were a bunch of kids. When we got to the front of the line we asked and the two employees had no idea what we were talking about. So I talked to the operations manager and he said it was just a deal on the price. Despite, what I felt being mislead we enjoyed the time. We didn't trust to drink from our drinks though when we came back from skating. 2 stars because I was really looking forward to it being just couple's. I have kids so it's not that I'm a hater of kids.

This is a great facility, run by a great staff. If you are a figure skater, would like to try ice skating, or try hockey, you are limited in where you can do this on the Portland/Vancouver area. Sherwood is a longer drive from Portland than the other rinks, however the drive will be worth it. There is a separate, heated, seating/viewing area. Bathroom facilities are nice as well. The ice is colder/harder here than the other rinks, this information will make a difference if you are a figure skater, or a hockey player. I would check online for their schedule to make sure there is the appropriate ice time for you.

We only have ever been at open skate times. The facility is adequate, but certainly not fancy. No rules enforced on the ice. Rental skates pretty decent. Open skate times can be Very busy on weekends and really aren't very long. It's clear their bread and butter is lessons and hockey league.

This is a teenage hangout spot especially on Friday open night skate. both of our kids have gone there many many times with their friends. but one thing you have to watch or some of the older kids who may be doing things that they shouldn't. It is a really good time for the kids and a cornerstone of the community.

They stopped re-surfacing the ice on Friday s for almost 2 hours. This is a huge safety issue because the ice becomes like gravel and trips people, the ice is not properly taken care of anymore. not even the employees like this change, it ruins the blades in my personal ice skates that I payed for. From what I hear the management here is disappointing to say the least. I will no longer be attending on Friday nights with my friend group.

Went during family skate and it was so crowded you almost couldn't move. Groupon was great for 4 people but they need to limit the amount of people out on the ice at one time or lengthen the hours so not everyone shows up at the same time.

The stick time on Tuesday morning is very crowded....

The stick time on Tuesday morning is very crowded. They have a high level clinic that takes up one third of the ice. The middle third is usually taken up by small kids and their coaches (dads ?) skating across. So the rest of us (sometimes 10 or more skaters) are left with the remaining third of the ice and one net. Not a lot of fun. How about we pay one third of the fees then?

Public skating on the other hand is often the opposite. Lots of space, no invasive lessons that would take up room and an option of skating the last hour only for a reduced fee.

Seems like a nice ice rink. Haven't skated here yet so I can't speak to the quality of the sheet of ice but, it looks to be in good shape. They offer Lessons, Group lessons, Stick-time, Adult Hockey and, of course Public sessions. Rental prices seem reasonable. Definitely want to skate here just haven't had chance yet.
