Beautiful place, you must see this by night it's better
I went on Friday and joined in the Friday prayer. As a Muslim it felt great to read behind a beautiful reciter in an absolutely stunning mosque. This was by far my favourite experience of Abu Dhabi. Remember to dress modestly, however, clothes will be provided at the mosque I think.
The Mosque look like a modern Taj Mahal
A bit crowded, but definitely worth visiting. Make sure you get the tickets online to skip the queue.
The mosque is majestic but there is too much security staff. Since they don't have much to do, you will be constantly disturbed with unnecessary rules and regulations. If you are out in the mosque compound while there is no one close to you in a 500m range, and you just slipped your mask for a second to take a memorable picture, the security will come and ask you to delete that picture. I would recommend not to go there during this COVID time.
Great place...Must see in Abu Dhabi preferably in evening..
A must to dress in iIslamic way.
All muslims can offer two rakaat nafil.
Peaceful and heart touching place.
One of the great architectures within Abu dhabi. Peaceful and relaxing.
Absolutely stunning place to visit. The architecture is beautiful and walking around dressed in the abayas you felt immersed in the culture. Worth a trip to see.
Really a magical and beautiful place a must see location if in Abu Dhabi
It's really beautiful in the architect is amazing I highly recommend this please whoever is coming in UAE
Photos doesn t justify how beautiful this place is. Attention to details everywhere, I mean everywhere.
It s a beautiful mosque but it s quite restricted eh? Security yelled at my little Sister to delete a picture taken. Lol. Even praying here felt like any another moshollah since we can t see the main hall. it would be nice to open up this mosque more if this is supposed to be a landmark in Abu Dhabi.
Big and beautiful.. really big . You need a lot of time to visit and see it properly..
Aftar for thousands of people is managed very well.. specially families can also enjoy aftar here.. sound system is very good.. listening to qirat is a beautiful experience.. overall excellent masjid
Visited once with my friends...nice place to visit in ramadan time...you will definitely amazed by the grand iftar
Lots of records broken by building this grand and beautiful mosque. Arab heritage with a fusion of mughal architectural marvels.
Must visit tourist attraction if you are visiting U.A.E. you have to visit it to experience its serenity. Try to come early to avoid queing up.
An amazing, beautiful, awesome, gorgeous, mistic religious place. This mosque it's just imposing because of the size, details and discipline that represents.
Quite a spectacular sight. Absolutely massive and very beautiful mosque. A must see when in Abu Dhabi or Dubai. Amost brand new as it was built a few years ago. It's just as spectacular on the inside as it is on the outside. One can easily spend hours exploring this place.
Need to have proper attire for both men and women. Not a deal breaker though as you will be provided with one when entering.
Well maintained, huge mosque. There is dress code for visitors especially women. There are beautiful artworks too.
Foreign visitors are very much welcome. The place is wonderful. Rules are strictly implemented by the guards.
This is a beautiful place, impressive in size and design. I visited this mosque as part of an organized tour and did not have enough time to admire every corner of it. I would recommend to go and enjoy it at your own pace. The Mosque gets a bit crowded by the amount of visitors but anyways it was a great experience.
Its is the major attraction of AbuDhabi. This masjid is known in the name of founder and the great leader of UAE sheikh zayid. Very beautiful masjid and best one to visit.
If you are looking for the wooow factor in Abu Dhabi. This is it.
Beautiful mosque but with so many tourist around you cannot enjoy it! Everyone came with buses in huge groups. Also you're only allowed in the lobby if you have not booked a tour. Maybe advice to work with time slots to allow a certain amount of people in.
Great place to visit. You shouldn't miss it if you find yourself in Abu Dhabi. It's great for photos and the white marble on the columns and floor brings one peace and joy. It's also free to enter and if you have difficulties with walking there are electric carts on site and also in the underground tunnel.
Picturesque place built in the memory of late ruler Shaikh zayed.every single bit of the places is made of something which is unique and excites you to know more about it.The touring of the mosque is a must and the guides are well versed with the uniqueness of the place.
There is no shortage of mosques in the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi alone has approximately 1,500 places of worship for Islamic devotees to attend. However, there is one mosque that stands out when compared to the rest. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the eight largest in the world and is impressive not only for its size but for its architecture. With marble walls, intricate stone work and crystal chandeliers, this mosque truly is jaw-droppingly beautiful.
A brief history
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque takes the name of the first ruler of the UAE, the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It was His Highness s dream and vision to build this mosque and he set its foundation stone. The Late Sheikh s burial space is located right next to the mosque, making it an emotional location for UAE residents. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was built to be a symbol of tolerance and respect, allowing different cultures to understand each other and acquire a greater knowledge of Islam. The main message behind the mosque is as beautiful as its construction: peace, love and tolerance.
Very neat and clean. Excellent arrangements for tourists. Need more guidelines boards for tourists.
This is a beautiful piece of architecture, a magnificent testament to the faith of the people of the UAE, and a worthy resting place for their Founding Father. The attention to detail and the quality of construction will ensure that this is a place travellers should visit, regardless of your religious beliefs, for centuries to come.
Not only is the Grand Mosque well planned and constructed, the visitor experience is also first class. There is ample parking, and on entry and exit you will pass though an air conditioned mall which will provide you with opportunities for food, drink, and appropriate shopping during your visit.
This was a great day out - 1 hour drive from Dubai - 2 hours from Ajman (where we were) and very well worth it. We joined a small group and took in a few other sites and ended our day here. The Mosque is amazing - tons of gold from all over the world, white marble, an interesting history and the biggest carpet I ever saw! (shame they had to cut it up to transport it to the mosque). Very much recommended.
Amazing structure and beautiful place to visit if anyone goes to @Abu-dhabi he should must go discover Sheikh Zayed Grand Masjid.
It is biggest mosque in Abudhabi....iftar is inhabited here for approx 30000 people daily. The place is famous for the Architectural features.
Must see this place whoever visit Abu Dhabi. 84 tomb are the main attraction point
Free parking under the mosque. Quite a long walk although they provide transport for people with handicap. Babybuggys can skip the security lane. More open foodstalls would be a good addition in the future.
What an incredibly enchanting and marvellous location. Mosque is built in huge grounds with plenty to see. Easy car parking facility located in the shopping beside the mosque which will take you directly to the entrance. Need to cover up, which is offered, if clothes do not fully cover up and then you can enjoy going around the mosque and seeing it from just about every angle. Can also see inside prayer rooms as well as other rooms which are open to view. People are well spaced out and there is no timer for the visit so you can enjoy the place for as long as you desire. It was truly a unique experience and would definitely recommend to everyone to visit if possible. We took a cab from Dubai, pre arranged a price, and it was very good value for money and worth it. Entrance to mosque is free too. Lots of refreshments included in the shopping centre and bathrooms. Definitely will return to take another look
A mosque of historic impact that blends architectural styles and embodies Islam s message of tolerance and peace
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one the world s largest mosques and a massive architectural work of art that intentionally blends different Islamic architectural schools. It features 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns, 24-carat-gold gilded chandeliers and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet. The main prayer hall is dominated by one of the world s largest chandeliers.
The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan built this mosque to convey historic consequence and to embody the Islamic message of peace, tolerance and diversity. He intended that the Grand Mosque be a living reference of modern Islamic architecture that links the past with the present and creates a place of Islamic science and learning that would reflect genuine Islamic values.
KEY ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS
Perhaps the most noticeable element of the mosque is the collection of 82 domes, the largest of which is located in the centre of the main prayer hall. The domes feature pure white marble cladding, onion shaped crowns , and crescent-shaped finials decorated with gold-glass mosaic.
The mosque s minarets combine Mameluke, Ottoman and Fatimid styles in a manner that fuses diverse Islamic architectural styles into one expression of art and beauty.
The use of natural multi-coloured marble creates novel artistic outcomes, including decorated crowned columns where the crowns are not located on the top of the columns but at the bottom. This extraordinary technique is innovative to Islamic architecture.
The colours of the walls, columns and the carpet are harmonised in a manner that transforms the mosque into an artistic masterpiece and a symphony of colours and shades.
Another important feature is the artistic glass work. Mosaic, carved and sand-blasted glass displays traditional Islamic designs of symmetry and repetition.
MINARETS
The mosque has four minarets, each approximately 106 meters tall. Each minaret is comprised of three different geometric shapes. The first is a square that forms the minaret's base. Its architectural style reflects that of Moroccan, Andalusian and Mameluke styles.
The second section of the minaret has an octagonal shape, which is a design that goes back to the Mameluke era (13th to 16th centuries). The third section is cylindrical in shape, a design element from the Ottoman era (14th to 20th centuries). The crowning lantern covered with gold-glass mosaic goes back to the Fatimid era (10th to 12th centuries).
CARPET
The main prayer hall houses the world s largest hand-knotted carpet. The intricate Islamic medallion design was made by third-generation carpet maker and artist Dr Ali Khaliqi.
The predominantly wool, single-piece carpet is 5,700 square meters and was hand-crafted by approximately 1,200 artisans. The total project took two years, including eight months for the design and 12 months for the knotting.
CHANDELIERS
The mosque features seven crystal chandeliers by Faustig of Munich, Germany. The largest is 10 metres across, 15 metres tall and weighs 12 tonnes. There are two smaller versions of the same design, also located in the main prayer hall. These weight 8 tons each.
Four blue-coloured chandeliers of similar design and size are located in the foyer entrances surrounding the mosque. The largest weights about 2 tons and is located in the main foyer entrance.
Such a beautiful place to visit in Abu Dhabi. This place is huge. Things to remember before going in are you must wear full clothes (they provide even if you don't) and security is very tight so don't bring any suspicious materials with you. Else the place is just amazing, beautiful and peaceful. A must visit place in Abu Dhabi for everyone. One thing I would like to mention is that don't take Public transport as it is bit confusing. Simply book a cab or taxi that will be more helpful.
Really beautiful and elegant place.. Wouldn't take too much time and should definitely visit this while in abu dabi.. Has some really shocking features like the middle floor never heats up without any technological support.. Has some really beautiful interior and the internal part has worlds longest single carpet area..
Beautiful place. You need to spend time taking it all in
Built in a huge carpet area with white marble all around, good to visit and watch the magnificent architect. Best thing is it's free of cost no entry tickets.
One of the big and beautiful mosque in the United Arab Emirates and good security system
Great place to visit in general, and especially awesome during Ramadan.
Can put in words to describe how the ambience inside and around this mosque feels like.
Great
No words in the world would describe how beautiful this place is. From the design, cleanliness and the greatness of the mosque. Everything is awesome
Stunning building. Such beauty w glimmering white marble, inlaid mother of pearl flowers along the floors and columns, 600 lb Swarovski crystal chandelier, the largest oriental carpet in the world. Lovely gracious guards.
And a holy moment when the afternoon call to prayer echoed out and all the hustle and bustle stopped a moment.
It was interesting to wear the full hijab/burka as was required. The mosque is beautiful against a blue sky backdrop.
It is quite breathtaking how they built this Mosque. Take the free tour, will will learn something new.
Modern Day Marvel !
If you love architecture this is the place tou will fall in love with. Every thing here has its own story.
Tho we were made to cover every part of our bodies with the exception of our faces, the sheikh Zayed Grand mosque s a magnificent place with an exquisite interior. Its really a lovely place
An epitome of reverence to Allah! A master piece of architectural edifice! Breath taking and amazing...
The most beautiful and lagest mosque i have ever seen. Feel proud on visiting the mosque. One wonder to see its beauty and design.
Beautiful architecture, not very crowded. Best visited during sunset.
All those fast food restaurants should not be at a holy place ......!
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque stands out as one of the world s largest mosques, and the only one that captures unique interactions between Islam and world cultures. Sheikh Zayed's vision for the Grand Mosque was to incorporate architectural styles from different Muslim civilizations and celebrate cultural diversity by creating a haven that is truly diverse and inspirational in its foundation. The mosque s architects were British, Italian and Emirati, and design inspiration was borrowed parts of Turkey, Morocco, Pakistan, and Egypt among other Islamic countries, revealing a glistening architectural marvel with an astonishing capacity of 40,000 worshippers and visitors.
Free entrance
Ladies should be in Proper dressing covering their head and full body except Face. Its the 8th Largest Mosque as of today. Going on weekdays is more advisable to avoid crowd and admire the real beauty of this Marvel.
Very big mosque with a very unique design of architecture.
Bus stop available in the mosque and too many bus routes come to this bus stop, so it's easy to visit the mosque.
Yes you can visit the mosque with your family and friends and take a memorable picture and excellent experience.
Taxi available and car parking available too.
Ritz Carlton hotel is opposite the mosque if you want to stay close to the mosque. Other hotels available too because the mosque location is very good and in the center of the city of Abu Dhabi .
All the best to you all and I wish you a very good time here
Amazing place where sheikh zayed been buried . The building has 82 domes of 7 different sizes and amazing lighting to add to it's beauty. During the evening it looks amazing and the bathroom is amazing at this place. During eid this palce is crazy crowded with the number of people reaching around 50000. During Friday's ie. Prayer day this place is usually overcrowded.
Beautiful monument in Abu Dhabi. Loved the architecture in and around the mosque. Visiting after sunset is pleasant than in the day
That is the most amazing mosque I've ever seen considering the fact that I haven't been to makkah or madina
Divine Holy place.
With utmost security and cleanliness.
Fantastic architecture. Get ready for long long line ups, especially if there are many tour groups. I would factor in at least 2 hours for properly seeing.
Beautiful, A combo feel of religious and Tourism attraction...! Free entrance and free parking, Parking facility is well arranged in all four directions of the mosque...!
Totally it was an awesome feel to be Here...!!
Spectacular, opulent, lavish, restful after you've walked the distance from the parking, although golf cart ride is available
You can really see the culture once you enter the grand mosque. The design is exquisite and beautiful. It has also kept up the the modern day world with having phones with earphones to help you on your walk around the mosque. The only downside is that the food in the mall is overpriced.
Just amazing, all white, be carefull about visiting hours, especially in Ramadan.
A beautiful location with deep cultural heritage and wonderful views, come on a colder day to avoid the heat.
Due to security check be ready for a long walk unlike before
What a beautiful and well planned monument. Stunning!
One of the biggest, and probably the most opulent mosque I have ever visited. If you want to go for Friday prayers, then you should be inside at least 30 minutes before the start of the khutbah / sermon. It gets crowded very quickly after that.
It's a must watch Mosque..ladies ensure u where cloths that cover your head..legs..and hand fully..else don't worry u will get an abaya before entering the mosque.washrooms are to each ends of the mosque (one side male and other side female)so plan before entering. Taking pictures allowed except shk Zayed burial place.
Serene, peaceful and Majestic are just few words to describe the feeling you feel here. Ladies.. do carry a scarf along when visiting this place and make sure your legs and hands are covered, or you can always rent an Abaya here.
