The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque stands out as one of...

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque stands out as one of the world s largest mosques, and the only one that captures unique interactions between Islam and world cultures. Sheikh Zayed's vision for the Grand Mosque was to incorporate architectural styles from different Muslim civilizations and celebrate cultural diversity by creating a haven that is truly diverse and inspirational in its foundation. The mosque s architects were British, Italian and Emirati, and design inspiration was borrowed parts of Turkey, Morocco, Pakistan, and Egypt among other Islamic countries, revealing a glistening architectural marvel with an astonishing capacity of 40,000 worshippers and visitors.

The open-door policy invites tourists and celebrants from all around the world who can witness the spectacular onion-top domes, the reflective pools that engulf the courtyard and the iconic prayer hall, which not only overflows with blissful sunlight, but also houses the world s biggest chandelier and carpet, both meticulously handmade. Be sure to spot the calligraphy encircling the hollows of the domes, etched with verses from the Quran and painted with gold leaves in An-Naskh lettering.

Great place...it's been built with a lot of details and care. Architecturally, it's a marvel! It's huge and all the walls and ceilings inside the prayer areas are beautifully decorated. It has become a great tourist attraction, which is fine and very good for non Muslims to see what a mosque looks like. The reason I am giving this place a 4 is because of it's poor management - all people, who came here to pray and not to pray are put through the same registration system which takes a lot of time! May be since it was my first time, I didn't know about the right way to enter the mosque as someone who would like to pray on time. Also, there was lack of signs of what to do and where to go!

This was my second visit after 3 years. The arrangements are better now and it's more organized. However the walk from parking to the mosque entrance is quite long. The free rides and courtesy umbrellas were welcome. The only gripe was the restriction to access the main hall with the magnificent chandeliers.

To be avoided during weekends and public holidays

As the name indicates, it is an edifice. A key tourist attraction in Abu Dhabi. As at 7pm when I visited, they've clocked over 25,000 visitors for the day. Best to visit at night as the lights come on, and they are beautiful. There's a dress code as its a religious attraction. Appropriate dressing available to use for free at the clock room especially for the ladies. Beautiful architecture with embedded history. Media guides available if you want a detailed tour. Have fun...

Here you have one exquisite work of art!! I'm a Catholic and since I remember I have found myself in the middle of a church sitting down enjoying the architecture and beautiful details of churches but I had never seen such impressive and stunning piece of art like this mosque. Enjoy all the fancy golden details, the largest carpet, the ponds around the mosque and the chandeliers, which are beautiful and breathtaking. Even if the place was full of visitors you can enjoy the peace inside and in the surroundings. If you are visiting for the first time bring something to cover your head and wear long-sleeves. just as you enter, request the recordings of the guided tour of the mosque by delivering an ID, available in different languages (it's for free)

This mosque is absolutely spectacular! Very peaceful and beautiful place.
The walk from the parking to the actual mosque was a little much, but it was well worth it!
The process to get through security was quick and smooth.
There is a bunch of "photo stops" where visitors can stop and take pictures. This was very well organized as to avoid congestion in the whole place even when there are thousands of people in there at the same time.
The architecture is absolutely breathtaking!

#TOLERANCE really stunning place. As visitors from different culture you have to appreciate how well designed this place is. Architectute is stunning, the marble, the biggest carpet, the biggest chandeliers. Definitely worth visiting!
Ps. There's also another Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, so make sure your sat nav takes you to the "GREAT" one !
PS II: you can borrow clothing there as an individual, but not as "group" apparently...

The Grand Mosque is incredible, you have to do it! You can enter inside and visit every day after 4pm. It is completely FREE. The sheer dimensions of this mosque make you shiver. Very beautiful. We were there on a relatively quiet day, so we could truly enjoy the visit. Well organized everything from the registration to the visit itself. Good treatment by the friendly security staff.

A magnificent mosque you can not deny that, but compared to the experience 8 years ago where it was a more humble and spiritual moment there, I went earlier today and people are walking around like herded cattle, everywhere was blocked off (in the past visitors could walk around and take in the amazing architecture). In addition, women were given this horrible polyester robe (in the past it was a breathable black niqab) which smelt, had holes and made you feel like an awkward tourist. Really a shame, no one was discussing the details of the building or their faith, overall I feel it has turned into a tourist trap and does a disservice to the beautiful building and what it stands for. And why have foreign restaurants like coffee club and Cinnabon? I came here to experience Emrati culture not American culture.

The largest mosque in the UAE. The place is to worship for Islamics. Design and lighting are very impressively. Chandeliers made of crystals and marble slabs and columns. Most of floors covered by carpet which recorded as the world s largest carpet. The mosque will make you feel peaceful, relax and composed. Pool outside with light at night is stunning. Watching sunset from here is amazing.

Great place to visit for muslims and non muslims. The way they preserve their culture , it's so much to learn from them . The premises is very beautiful for walking but the interior is very spectacular. There are lot of security outside and women are given a separate cloth to cover themselves. It's a must visit place .

This Masjid is one of the greatest Masjids in the world and has covered a huge area which can accommodate thousands of worshippers. The entire environment of the Masjid is very stunning; I mean it is so clear and clean that you can see your image if you look down. Although this Masjid can never be compared to the three holiest Mosques of Islam but it has achieved a better place for those who wish to worship Allah sincerely.
