Nice hotel quite and clean. Although one of the lift was not working and the other life was taking long.
Nice hotel quite and clean. Although one of the lift was not working and the other life was taking long.
Needed to get my keycard reactivated almost every time I went to my room. Breakfast was enjoyable and had a good selection of food. Dinner seemed overpriced for the quality of food though.
Brilliant staff and very comfy bed. And the price.. very very good
You get what you pay for. Could really do with free parking and a WiFi that works
Loud noisy guests all night wouod not recommend this hotel better ones for the money
Caring staff very polite.nice food.freindly atmosphere good value for money in the heart of Sheffield. Easy to find.
The hotel is cool, but a strange price policy, one serves at the reception, something else is displayed on the outside of the hotel. There is a restaurant but poor, I recommend Ethiopian food nearby
It's good for a short trip, clean and tidy, the staff are very kind and helpful
Lovely welcome. Staff very helpful and the breakfast was very tasty.
Frankly this place is weird. I suspect the management are big fans of Fawlty Towers.
The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, would defo stay again
Decent rooms, clean and beds comfy, but TV quite small. Breakfast is okay but not brilliant, good pastries.
Extremely pleasant and helpful staff, nice rooms and superb experience. Best value for money hotel in Sheffield.
Don t book at the the oyo metropolitan Sheffield unless you 100% know nothing will stop you from been able to stay. The concert was cancelled that we was stopping in the hotel for and had no other reason to travel to Sheffield and stay there. You will not get a refund! Just lost out of a fair bit of money Dread to think of you book a few rooms and somthing comes up which means you can t make it ..oh and the staff was quick to cut us off.
Staff were very helpful when I lost key, would recommend
Very little maintenance does not look anything like the photos
Cheap and clean. Pleasant room and a nice breakfast
Rooms looked good and was in no way shape or form damaged and everything was clean, but the room was way to hot with no air conditioning and the tv was too small for the size of the room. The wifi did not work at all, impossible to get anything done when it cuts out every 30 seconds. Breakfast was amazing and the service is great and it wasn't too noisy.
Biggish but run down, rooms in need of an urgent refurbishment. Priced similarly to Holiday express but way below the HE standards. 24C outside 29C inside and no air condition. Two stars at most.
Was misinformed about breakfast time so had a cold and rushed breakfast. Not a nice experience. Then the room key wouldn't work. Gentleman from reception helped and gave us a nice bottle of Tempranillo for our trouble!
Decent price and close
Also nice reception
The rooms are lovely but as for the meals are shocking I've had better meals when Scrounging from bins when I was homeless
Rooms were nice. We booked that night and the price and service was exceptional for a city centre hotel.
Room was decent and quite surprising. Bed maybe Alittle too soft for my liking but generally very comfortable. The bar area is just alright for a quick drink. Overall good experience !
Great value, beautiful clean & well maintained room, staff really helpful & friendly will definitely book again & recommend to others
Two night stay, suited our needs, Comfortable and clean Bed, friendly staff, didn't eat here, Room clean n tidy, bit dated, not a problem, nice quiet location at night, next to Canal Basin, nice for a walk about
Room was very nice. Elevator was a bit slow but the staff were lovely. I couldn't hear anyone else while in the room, apart from those directly outside my room. I would say it was worth the price.
We stayed on the 4th floor which is looking a bit tired in places. However, the room was clean and tidy. There was a good selection of food for breakfast in the restaurant. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
I would highly recommend this hotel. Our room was absolutely spotless. Staff on reception and housekeeping were wonderful and friendly. Our room had the most incredible bed, it felt like how I can only imagine what it feels like to sleep on a cloud. This is by far the best hotel that I have ever been to!!
Nice and clean. Comfy beds in business class. Very good selection for breakfast
Far below my expectation.
- No airco in the rooms (ok, can live with that).
- No power socket near the bed for a mobile phone to charge.
- A 10 cm gap between the two mattresses of a twin bed.
- no possibility to get any breakfast earlier than 7 a.m.
Absolutely disgraceful experience. Constantly staring at my boyfriend (full Jamaican), rude, not smiling or welcoming, next thing I know police are knocking on hotel room claiming there's a 15 year old girl missing (making out I could've been her) then had cheek to tell us police had just turned up considering we've been walking around town all evening and no sign of police so clearly they rung them. Had no apology either. Pure racism. Had to then leave at 2am as felt incredibly uncomfortable, I got a refund luckily, only good thing I can say. Never ever again. Not to mention rooms are really poor, decor is outdated and basic, looks like staff have painted it, bathroom stunk of urine, the outside of building is really misleading. Doesn't even deserve 3 stars.
Entauschend. The rooms are loud and in need of renovation, not burglar proof, the bathroom was not clean and outdated. The staff only on the first night (check-in) reasonably friendly, then unfriendly, almost unhealthy, uninterested. In my hall it was every evening / night unpleasantly loud (young people with loud music and screaming and room doors which were slammed up late at night and early in the morning) Not recommended for young families, small children, older people, people with a (Geh )Disability.
Where to start. A word of advice. Use somewhere else. Cheap but not much else going for it. The worst thing was the stinky pillows and cushions. The sheets and pillow cases were clean but the pillows inside were really smelly. I slept with a towel over them. The cushions I discarded onto the floor as far away as I could. The 2nd worst thing was the unfriendly staff. They are miserable and aloof.
I stayed for 2 nights as I was visiting my husband in hospital. First night, after 10 hours at the hospital I ordered room service. No can do, the staff member said. Can you come to the 1st floor to order and take the food back to your room. So I did. After several requests from the menu were refused he gave me a lite bite menu. That or nothing he said. No chef he said. I ordered chicken tikka masala. It was microwaved to death in some places and ice cold in others. My cider was watered down. I daren't eat the food so I collapsed into my smelly bed. Breakfast was disappointing. Cold scrambled egg, beans and tomatoes. The beans weren't even aired. Toast was brown, previously frozen and coffee was ok but not hot.
Breakfast the 2nd day was much better. Different chef, different staff.
The key to my room failed on 3 occasions. I had several trips back to reception 7 floors down as I couldn't get in my room.
I booked here because it seemed good value but it was a big mistake.
Room was ok. A bit shabby but clean enough and the bathroom was ok.
There are much better hotels in the vicinity. I should have paid a bit more. Lesson learned.
Clean, good quality and fairly central. Perfect for groups
Not worth 110 a night.
No aircon, broken lift for 2 weeks (9 floors, one lift), small and old TV, old furniture, doors bang when left to close.
Breakfast is lovely and the staff is great. They try hard. The owners are not spending money to renovate an old hotel.
Large rooms bit everything a bit tatty and 1980s. Bar shuts at midnight which is a bit rubbish
Great hotel. No negatives at all... One exception. No air con so would avoid if very hot outside.
Stayed here for two nights. Firstly, the bed in my room was extremely comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
But when I was staying there their restaurant could only serve 'lite bites' which were basically microwave meals, this was disappointing. I don't know whether it was just my room but it was unbelievably hot.
All in all, it was ok for the two nights but I wouldn't have liked to stay there for a long duration.
Edit: No plug sockets by the bed. Drives me crazy!
Good location, friendly staff, nice comfortable room, would stay again
Cheap but charmless. Beds uncomfortable and rooms noisy due to slamming doors and inconsiderate visitors.
Had a nice stay, was reasonably priced and located close to town. The staff were incredibly helpful. Rooms could do with updating slightly but were still clean and beds were comfy
Nice staff, clean rooms, decent cleanliness. Had to take the effort of moving the beds apart. Kinda the point of having a twin room is that you don t have to be in the face of your family member, especially one that snores loudly. Would recommend a re design of how they lay out the twin rooms.
Hotel was nice and the room was comfortable and very reasonably priced, however quite a strong smell of smoke despite being a non smoking room
Crummy hotel, got an overpriced night on a last-minute "discount" room site. Odors of cigarette smoke and vomit in the halls. Police called for drunken, abusive group. Two stars only for the gentlemanly Scots front desk clerk who watched out for my son and me.
Its pretty good and the food is nice and the beds are comfy
The hotel is acceptable, reception is fast and always happy to help. But the cleaning could be clearly better and also one of the windows was kinda broken.
For the price I couldn't ask for more.
Nice hotel...
May need some renovation though..
Old...
Old hotel
Need urgent renovation
Staff are a complete waste of time unfortunately and the rooms are pretty run down
We have stayed at this hotel before, but this time, it is under the banner of Oyo.
Sadly, the restaurant now offers only breakfasts. This is a huge mistake, as it means having to drive into the City to find somewhere reasonable to eat, as we had to! Previously, we have eaten in the Met restaurant, which always offered a varied menu
This means that we will review where we will stay the next time we visit Sheffield!
The hotel was adequate for an over night stay. It seems quite popular with young clubbers which wasn't an issue for me. The mugs in the room were still slightly damp and had fluff in them which suggested they had rinsed in the sink and cleaned with a towel. I didn't use them. We went to the restaurant at 8.45 but the chef had thrown out most if the main course menu and the 'light bite' menu was only available (she wasn't shy at broadcasting this loudly [so we could hear] when informing the waitress). More food options became available, which we chose, and it was actually ok. The restaurant is really stylish and worth a look. The room was spacious and yhe bed was massive. I had a really good night's sleep. I would stay again if I was in Sheffield as it was overall an ok experience.
The location is very good, the heating is a bit warm
The hotel was clean and well located for the city centre. The room was comfortable and had everything that we needed although bedside plug sockets would have been a useful addition. The receptionist was helpful and we have no complaints regarding our stay.
I stayed in this hotel three nights for business and I would not stay again. The WiFi was so slow it was non-existant (couldn't even Google, let alone using a work VPN or streaming Netflix), the buffet breakfast was cold and not replaced when items were finished by other guests, the heating didn't work so the room was cold, the rooms were shabby and run down and, finally, it was noisy. I, as a female staying alone was placed in a room which joined internally (via a locked door) to a second room. On one of the nights, a party of men were placed in the adjoining room. Very loud, inappropriate and I felt a little unsafe.
Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is near the centre of Sheffield.
Didn't really let me check in because I had arrived earlier, got my keycard mixed up (embarrassing) I had to apologies however it wasn't my mistake, the room was okay, bathroom was a bit smelly and some lights didn't work. The hallways smelt a bit like a hospital, the lifts were okay. The breakfast was incredibly limited and the only think I was completely pleased with was the clean bedding and the view from my window. Even the cups weren't washed properly, they were stained.
The food was only adequate, the reception desk was not at all friendly, and it seems that the quality has diminished quite a lot since I was here last January . I was overall rather disappointed this time. UPDATE: Since tgis last review I have again visited the hotel. This time things have greatly improved! Reception was much better and more friendly, and the food is also much better. This time |I would recommend the hotel.
Really easy to find and close to the city centre and room was reasonable size
Room was a little worse for wear. Broken sofa bed. Cracks in shower head meant water spewing at funny angles. Room was clean though and fine for just getting your head down. Food provided to our group was good.
Not great, only has smoking rooms available, smells terrible.
It's OK. In the hotel district of Sheffield and so close to the town centre. But its looking dated and the rooms are small. If you book a room for 3 people then be aware that the third bed is a fold out seat. Good enough for my 12 year old but not for an adult.
